This is one of the best HGSS (around HBP) story I've read - I particularly resonate with your characterization of both Severus and Hermione: wordly, manipulative vs somewhat-mature-yet-green in many areas.  
I also enjoy how many others in the story made emotional, selfish decision: their flaws made them more human.
