“... it appears to describe a composite function denoting an asymptote which defines nothing less than an infinite life line.” Hummm, Horcrux anyone? And Hermione's blood? This is freaking brilliant!Beth

Hee! Hee! Top marks for Arithmancy, Beth! Shame Vector's caught up in the minutiae of the academic problem, and Harry didn't pay attention at school (too busy doing something else apparently ...!). More on its way soon, I hope! :Px

That healing scene was AWESOME. The Legilimency? WHOOOOO. Very well done. I can barely imagine what he was *actually* going to do when he came to... and now I wonder what she thought he would do/say... and what he WILL say, now that she's also Stunned him!

Absolutely riveting. I've longed to see such a scene for a long time, H feeling through his mind an encounter between them. Great writing.

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. It was a challenge to get the twisted POV right without having it seem like autoerotica! More to come soon I hope ;). :Px

Oh my... such a revalation for Hermione. I wonder if she will destroy the Horcrux, or try to return the piece of his soul back to him so he can be whole again. Can that even be done? And if they succeed, will they still have deep feelings for each other? This is such a good story. I hang on every word.

A fabulous way to end that chapter! So intense, followed by a much needed dose of the mundane to ground everything before. The build-up was done extremely well. I can't imagine what might happen next, but I very much look forward to it :)

“Now, for you,” she said. He opened his mouth to say something, but she forestalled him by pulling her wand out from her skirts and pointing it at his chest. You almost gave me a heart attack with this scene, and then you did give me one when Hermione became entrenched in Severus' memories and realized that the perfume bottle she had treasured for so long was his Horcrux. Holy Shmoly! I can see how utterly confusing her thoughts and emotions must have been. As her own sensations and memories collided with Severus' sensations and memories, it would have been unnerving to try to grasp everything she had witnessed and put any of it into some kind of perspective. And then Conviva showed up before Hermione had any time to sort out what had just happened between Severus and herself. This was a helluva chapter, m'dear. Kudos to you and a vial of Calming Potion for me. I'm loving this story!!!!!Hugs, Beth

A visitor? Just what they need right now! You're really pulling them through a wild sea of emotions, pain and obligations. Excellently written, too!Their approach is quite a desperate substitute for a hospital!

- great to hear from you again. Yes, I know, they are going through the wringer, aren't they? No hospitals in the Roman world unless you count the ones attached to the army, and certainly no painkillers apart from alcohol etc. So, really, Severus is lucky to have her...! Best wishes, :Px

Poor Severus, but his unconsciousness gave Hermione the chance to uncover parts of the truth.Fantastic story. And I'm really curious how Hermione is in Pompeii in the first century AD while she is lying comatose in a hospital in the almost two thousand years later. But we'll certainly learn more in the chapter to come, won't we?

Oh no! Way to leave us hanging again. Evil, evil author. I'm curious about the horcrux. Why does it create such good feelings in Hermione when Voldy's were so awful? WHY on earth and how did Severus make it? What was the mysterious blue glow on Hermione's body? Where is Severus's body in the future? So many questions. I'm hooked.

Hi there
Response from Proulxes (Author of Anima Mea)
, thank you for reviewing again! I can't answer all your questions yet -- but there are some very heavy hints already out there in the story. If you compare Riddle's choice of artefacts for his Horcrux with Severus', for example, you can see a difference in the beginning of the spell that created it, and hopefully that will go some way to answer the question about the nature of Snape's Horcrux. More to come soon! Best wishes, :Px

You have two very talented betas in beaweasley2 and clairvoyant! His Horcrux? I never would have imagined that little vial would be his Horcurx. Well done, you! Although I'm disappointed by Severus' rational for her interest in him, I'm not surprised. It's what he does, isn't it? I am glad that he didn't have the means to destroy the Horcrux because I think he may need it before all is said and done. Hermione was clearly crushed by his reluctant reception at her appearance the next morning, but she handled herself well, and I hope she will be able to convince him when the time is right that she does truly love him. Just like he loves her.
Bleeding that manticore without magic is going to be an iffy thing at best. At best it will be painful, at the worst perhaps even fatal. I can't make up my mind which one of them is going to be badly injured... maybe both of them will suffer. I do hope that they will be at the top of their game.
I can't help but wonder if the treatments the Healers may try on Hermione will interfere with what she and Severus must do. It seems that what she experiences in Pompeii can be manifested in her body in the present. Could it work in both directions?
Thanks for this very lemony chapter!Beth

Hi Beth! Every time I see the names beaweasely2 and clairvoyant (and, before that, lyn_f) at the front of my author's notes, I have to pinch myself. Their input makes the process of writing this horribly complicated story as much of a pleasure as presenting it (with fingers crossed) to the readers. Thanks for recognising their input -- I know you read their work too and they'll be pleased to hear your appreciation of their talents! As to the chapter... I'm glad you liked it! He is being a twit, but, i hope, a believable one. One of the problems I have with the story is constructing a romance between two people who haven't seen each other in years, who shared one (albeit intense) moment before he 'died', and have only reconnected with each other in an extraordinary place about three days ago. I can't do hearts and flowers and "I've always loved you", so I'm trying something else.... Btw, please note that Severus has put two and two together over his horcrux. Have another look at the prologue...! Thanks for your reviews -- I really enjoy reading them!!! Best wishes, :Px

You had to stop here, right in front of the lion's, oups Manticore's, den--of course. I absolutely love your story; rich in tension and action, lots of details, but never longish!!Btw, I needed Manticores myself and found that they fire off their tail sting from afar. I hope Severus won't have such an attack to face.

! So pleased you are still enjoying it! I try to keep each chapter at about 5k words as I write - I'm glad you like the length. :) As for the Manticore... They are fearsome beasts. The particular qualities of the beast are going to be VERY important to the story!!! Best wishes as always :Px
Do you know... when I read this story, I'm constantly trying to figure it out... she's in some sort of coma, much like Harry had been during the Final Battle, when he had been able to see Voldemort's horcrux. Is she in some alternate reality, where she's interacting with Severus's horcrux -- all in her mind? Or did she really travel through time? (And I want to smack Severus, regardless of what form he's taken. LOL)
Response from Proulxes (Author of Anima Mea)
Yes, he is behaving like an idiot, isn't he? But, I hope he's being a believable idiot! She could do more as well -- but she's not yet prepared to take that emotional risk either. More to come soon, and the mystery will be revealed. Thank you so much for your review! Best wishes, :Px

*one* of them better start talking soon, or they are both going to explode from sexual tension. So, is there evidence of recent earthquake-damage repair in pompeii? For 'just before they get buried in ash' values of recent I mean.

Hi
Response from Proulxes (Author of Anima Mea)
! Thanks for your review! The way I see it, expressing their feelings to another person would involve revealing an emotional vulnerability that neither are prepared to admit to. Not yet, anyway.... Events are about to overtake them for a while in the story, and yet this unresolved issue will continue to be a focus for both of them. Expect more emotionally idiotic behaviour before they both sort this out! As for earthquake repair -- yes; the earthquake of 62 really devastated the city and the authorities had.not finished all the large infrastructure repairs by 79. Individual citizens would have repaired their own property. Before the eruption in 79 there were a large number of preceding earthquakes and ground tremors, but the Pompeiians simply appear not to have made the connection between these events and the potential for eruption. :( If you'd like to know even more, there is a brilliant account of Pompeii before the apocalypse, in Pompeii by Mary Beard, a fabulous British academic!
Response from Owlbait (Reviewer)
Oh gosh, I'm just thinking now of Severus's comment to Dumbledore 'and my soul?' Is that when he reaized he would have a horcrux making opportunity?
Response from Proulxes (Author of Anima Mea)

Severus has made a Horcrux? That's quite a horrid issue, I dearly hope he can justify the murder. And so Snapey to not explain the change of his mood to her! Darn that man. Manticores .. of all the pets he could have been playing with! No wonder they left their marks. I also like your less than sympathetic Granger-parents; they have no reason to think otherwise.
