Reviews for Anima Mea
I loooooooved the descriptions of the city, and her informed exploration. I also like that Severus protected her instinctively. His final quip was intriguing!
Response from Proulxes (Author of Anima Mea)
Oooohhh! Thank you very much! Reviews certainly feed the muse as they say! I wonder whether Severus will let her into his secrets and allow her to help him...? Really delighted you are enjoying the story! :P
What an exciting excursion to antique Pompeii, excellently merged with a story-line we love. You've woven in many details without ever getting into teaching-mode--very well crafted. Now why the heck don't these gates open? Don't open for whom exactly, strangers, time travellers, wizards?? Snape's been pondering this for 11 years with no success, and how much time do they have now? They had better bury their heads into research than keep a grudge! You clearly have intrigued me, and I'm happy to see tat the next chapter is queued!

Hi
Response from Proulxes (Author of Anima Mea)
and thank you for your review! I am particularly pleased that you're not finding the details dull.... There are clues in the details mentioned for the big mystery that's at the heart of the tale! It would be good to see them working together. I wonder if Severus will let her help him? Thanks for sticking with the story! :P
Response from Bettina (Reviewer)
so I have to re-read the chapters? will do, let's see then...
Response from Proulxes (Author of Anima Mea)
Lol! Good luck with that! :P
It seems like the two of them need to put their heads together, instead of arguing. If she fell into a mosaic and out of a painting, perhaps they need to build a mosaic so they can fall out of the painting at Hogwarts. Hopefully no one hung that painting very high up.It is odd that he left his body behind. It makes me wonder if Hermione's dead body is laying beside the mosaic. But it is pretty clear that if they do not find a way out, her team will be excavating her soon.I am looking forward to hearing about who the wards affect and why. I can see an ancient city warding itself to keep the bad guys OUT but I can't see why it would keep people in.Good story. Thanks!

Hi
Response from Proulxes (Author of Anima Mea)
- thanks for your review! I agree they both need to work together. Perhaps Severus isn't ready to trust her either. He certainly knows more than he's letting on and the mystery deepens further in the next couple of chapters... :P
This is getting more and more fascinating with each sentence! I love how you have described Pompeii -- I feel as though I am actually there, walking the streets with them, seeing the sights, smelling the rich odors (stale urine, yech!)... Brilliantly written!
Response from Proulxes (Author of Anima Mea)
Oh thanks,
Response from Proulxes (Author of Anima Mea)
! I am so pleased that you like the details. (blushes, grins) More detail on the way as she tries to find out more about what's going on. Really happy you are enjoying the story! Thanks for your review! :P
Slight flaw indeed.
Response from Proulxes (Author of Anima Mea)
Ummmm.... Yes..... The plot thickens! Thanks for your review- much appreciated! :P
*snicker* She tossed her cookies all over Severus Snape? Brilliant. Can't wait for the "real" reunion (you know... the one for which she might actually be *awake*?). *grin*

Hi
Response from Proulxes (Author of Anima Mea)
- thanks so much for your review! Their first meeting (one when she is not being violently ill) is coming up. It's in the queue! Things do not however, as you would imagine, go well...! :P
OMG! Hermione has gone all the way back to 69 A.D. I was unsure of where Severus had gone in time, but apparently he decided to go far back in time so he could survive. Or maybe he wasn't aiming for a particular time so long as it was well before.I wonder if the Roman numerals that were arrange around the mosaic portrait Hermione had been working on were LXIX? I'm wondering if the mosaic portrait of Severus was a combination of a Portkey and a Time-Turner?This plot is fascinating, and I can't wait to find out where you take this tale. Well done!Beth

Hi again
Response from Proulxes (Author of Anima Mea)
- yes, they are back in Pompeii just before the volcano blows up in 79 AD... The mystery deepens even further in the next chapter. I'm glad you are enjoying the story - I hope that you stick with the story and keep letting me know what you think! :P
Response from braye27 (Reviewer)
So, it's 79 AD and not 69 AD. The following part of this chapter had me googling for when Vespasian was first made a consul, and which ever site (Wikipedia, I think) said that was 69 AD... so that's where I got that idea. Can't trust everything you read on the internet. LOL!The little man drew himself up proudly. “I am called Pertus, Mistress. You are in the house of Severus the Healer,” he replied in a singsong fashion like a child, as if remembering long practiced information, “in the street of the courtesans, in the district of the Faun, in the city of Pompeii. It is summer, in the first year of the consulship of Titus Flavius Caesar Vespasianus Augustus.”Regardless of when I thought it was, this story is amazing!
Response from Proulxes (Author of Anima Mea)
Hi braye! At the risk of sounding like a history nerd - Titus Flavius Caesar Vespasianus was Vespasian's son. He used his father's name like all good high born Romans did! When he became Emperor he used the name Titus to distinguish himself from his father. Pertus was giving Hermione Titus' full and proper name as a good (well informed) slave would have done. I am so pleased that you are enjoying the story enough to check out the details! - Chapter 4 is with my Beta and I'm a few chapters ahead of that in writing! Lovely to hear from you again. :P
Fascinating! I can't wait for the next chapter!

Hi
Response from Proulxes (Author of Anima Mea)
- thanks for your review. Next chapter should be up in a few days and the one after that will then go in the queue! I'm really pleased you are enjoying the mystery! :P
This chapter is more addicting than the Prologue was. If I hadn't already been hooked, I would be now. I love how you are weaving history into the threads of this story. There seemed to be a strange smell in the air. A metallic tang, like blood… The flashback to the Shrieking Shack is brilliant....she used pencil to record her finds so the dousing had not damaged her records. Very astute, Hermione. I've used that trick a few times myself. The most intriguing thing is that the portrait commissioned for Hogwarts and the mosaic portrait Hermione found are identical. What do the Roman numerals mean? Could they be a code? And I know the old Time-Turner must play a huge role. Reading the words in the inscription gave me chills.I can't wait for the next chapter to post!Beth
Response from Proulxes (Author of Anima Mea)

Hi. Thanks! Hope you like the next chapter...
The scene in the Shrieking Shack is gut wrenching. And there are several parts that pinned me to my chair:• His mouth moves, but he clearly cannot form words; nonetheless she can feel that he is chanting something.• He writhes in renewed pain and she pulls backwards, frightened. As she does so, the fine chain that holds the Time-Turner snaps.• She presses her hands on his chest again. He gasps. His fingers twist the Time-Turner, slick with blood.• She feels a tug behind her navel and suddenly cannot breathe. His body seems to blur in front of her, through her tears. Reflexively she grips the front of his coat and cries out as a ripping pain pulls through her chest. And now Ginny has written to tell her that something strange is going on at Hogwarts: “… It’s about Snape’s headmaster’s portrait; and… erm… you…”I hope Ginny's letter will be intriguing enough to bring Hermione back to the school. One thing is certain... you've got my attention! It's on my favorites list.Beth
Response from Proulxes (Author of Anima Mea)

Yay! The real life archaeologist is happy, happy, happy to finally see the Kindred Swot choose the right profession (although she herself has moved on to be a Librarian)! I'll bookmark and anxiously wait with my favourite, silver edged trowel for the next installment. Wonerful start! :)

Response from Proulxes (Author of Anima Mea)
! More mystery to come; next chapter's in the queue...P
Uhhhh. Ron is such an idiot! I was very tickled when Poppy ordered him away from Severus, and then Hermione threw him across the room when he "jumped" on her. Git!I am so very happy that Poppy has been able to take such good care of our young Severus. She seems very determined that he understand what a miracle he is. "You know, you really are in excellent condition though, given what you have been through for the last eleven years. Your body should show far more damage than it does." It was brilliant of Harry to retrieve Severus' wand, the Time-Turner... and a key? What could that key go with? A door or a chest? A Gringott's vault? Very interesting. However Harry's warning to Severus that he should be moving on quite quickly broke my heart. The Aurors would be back, and trouble would follow. Will he never know peace?Severus did his level best to convince Hermione that what they "thought they had experienced" in their shared coma was somehow not real. I'm very happy that she didn't let him get away with that nonsense. "It happened, Severus," she continued. "We shared that experience... I want you and none other, and that's the truth of the matter. I remember everything, and so do you. That's our reality."Nietzsche said, "We live on the presumption that we think when it's equally possible that we are being thought." When all is said and done, one's personal reality is what one believes it is, and when the details of one person's reality are identical to those of another person's reality (and recalled as such)... does it matter that no third person can attest to its validity? "Just because it's happening in your head doesn't mean it isn't real."What an amazing chapter! I hope they have a restful sleep, that they are regenerated and reintegrated in that sleep, and that whatever the immediate future holds, that they will have a peaceful and loving life together after all. I am sooooo looking forward to your next update- whether it's the final chapter or not, this journey has been fabulous! Beth

Hi Beth! Thank you for your review - and I am glad that you enjoyed the chapter. I am working on the ext chapter now - I'd call it the last one, but I can't be sure nad I've been cought out before now confidently predicting how long this story will take. Anima Mea was initially going to be about 30,000 words long and over by Christmas 2011. Ahem. *sheepish grin*. The next chapter is coming together quite quickly now and hopefully will be up in two week's time. Thank you again for all your support. Best wishes, Pxx

A beautiful story, with a wonderfully balanced amount of angst, lemons and pig-headedness from Severus! Your plotting was strong and I believed all of your characters - both original and canon. Looking forward to seeing what else you've written and devouring it voraciously!❤️
