Hermione's life takes an unexpected turn due to a medical issue. What she wants is still possible, just not with the man she thought she'd have it with. Meanwhile, Severus is being pushed in different directions. Luckily, one of those paths lead to Hermione. This is a take on LOTM's YLC Challenge.

I adore the world of HP.
Thanks for stopping by. I'm off to stir my cauldron.
Reviews for A Well-Made Match
It's going to be for the best in the long run. She doesn't like sports as much as Ron does. This girl would think a game would be a great date and so would Ron, but not Hermione. She wouldn't think of that as a great date at all. There is more than kids they don't have in common. I hope she starts to realize that. She needs to meet a man that matches her intellect to see what she would be missing if she married Ron. She needs to meet more men period. I am sorry for her but I never thought they would make a good match.
This is hard on a guys self esteem! He needs to set that Ulbrook woman straight. He should complain to the ministry that she is trying to sabotage his chances to find a match because she's interested in him for herself.
Hmmmm. Maybe Ron and Hermione should go through the match making service. If they end up with each other that's that! If not, it's for the best.
That was a very mature move for Ron. Seldom is he portrayed that mature. I like it. A lot. I still want Hermione to end up with Severus but I like it that I can also like this Ron. Severus' reaction wasn't very mature but he was well and truly in his cups. I can't blame him for getting drunk. If they hadn't taken it so fast he would have thought things through more carefully. So did the questionnaire actually take his verbal answers seriously? Damn! That's messed up! Angry people might say all kinds of things while reading it. I hope there is a spell that cuts through bullshit and detects the truth on that thing if it's taking down verbal answers.
Ron and Hermione just aren't on the same page. It's sad for both of them right now but in the long run they aren't a match. They don't want the same things from life. They both have to compromise too much to make the other one happy. Ron could find someone that wants to start a family now. Hermione needs someone who is happy for her to succeed as much as she is and doesn't want a house full of children she has to mother. And they'll never agree on the house elf issue. I have a feeling the new marriage law is going to affect Ron and Hermione more than they know.
Dearest SW, do you intend to continue this story? I'd like to know before I become invested. I've read the first and last chapter and I really want more. Please let me know. x0x0x0

It's funny you should ask. I'm about to load the next chapter on a couple days. Work has made this so slow. :(
Well, I have a feeling that muffin may be a handful if the bloke reduced the price of the house to get the dog off his hands. Poor little muffin. I hope he/she gets along with Shorty!
Let me know when you update! I thought there was a way for me to do that but I can't remember how. I love this story and am looking forward to more.

I think you have to list it as a favorite. Then you should get an email saying it's updated.

Okay, the new update is up.
I hope you continue with this story. It's nice to have a mature Hermione interacting with Severus in a very mature way.
I love your stories so much! I'm assuming that work + martial arts + schooling kind of knocked you over for a bit. :) I hope you get to write more for this story soon. Have a great weekend!
Response from Southern_Witch_69 (Author of A Well-Made Match)
It sure has. I'm working on the next now. Nearly done.
Hoped I liked this? Are you kidding! I loved this update. Hope your studies are going well.
It's great, as always, but PLEASE don't take too long to update. We are dying for more.
Thank you for another wonderful chapter! Their start into married life is surely fraught with traps but I have every hope for them.
An update . Severus is being smart with Hermione, reconciling her with her parents, and not rushing her, he wants her to love him even if he doesn't know it yet.
So happy for the update, I loved it. Severus and HErmione married and a Samantha set on keeping Ron, yup, I loved it.
Hi,
it's great that you got around and updated this story!
Things are going very well for both couples and everyone around them (Xcept Draco). Is it only my suspicious mind suggesting that you're deceiving us a little here??
cheers Bettina
Ah, I am enjoying this. I particularly like the characterisations, where people make mistakes and then (try to) work things out. Not just Ron and Hermione, but Harry and even Lucius.
I'm very suspicious of what Severus must have done to make the Grangers change their minds; it must have been something immoral if he had to wipe meeting him from their minds. Still, I love that he felt protective enough of Hermione to want to do it. Let's just hope she doesn't find out what he did.
I hope you haven't abandoned this! More please!
love the plot..
LOVED this! "He hoped some things might not take as much time as others," eh? ;)
Interesting story so far, I hope to see updates on it. Thanks for writing

Sorry it's been a while since I've updated. I ran into laptop issues, which was the only place I had it stored. I've extracted them finally. So all is not lost, just strange formatting adjustments needed.
Oh please update soon! I'm on tenderhooks!
Tricksey Slytherin Snape... seems he 'adjusted' the Granger's attitude!
Nice chapter--I really enjoyed seeing Ron go down for the count!! HAHA!
I just discovered this story. I have read and loved other stories of yours but just found this one and read it. I love it! I really hope it continues. I cannot wait to see if her parents come to the wedding and how their married life goes. Thank you for sharing!

Thanks for reading! I have the next one up. More this week.
Hmmmm. A protective Severus. What else is new? Instead of protecting three children however, he's now protecting one grown-up witch. *grin* By the way, did he *talk* to the Grangers or did he talk to them? ^_^
Response from Southern_Witch_69 (Author of A Well-Made Match)
He talked to them.... O_o It's upcoming. hehe
Damn. That sensation of a looming deadline? I get that. Maybe someday I'll have enough ducks in a row to try putting myself in the path of a nice, positive, major life event, the way Hermione's going after hers. I almost never think about this, but the mixture of her own agency combined with external forces/happenings/actions etc has been nice in this story, gives a very natural sort of element to your plot development. Not uncommon in any good fiction, I suppose, but this is where I picked up on that, so you get props for it today. One more reason I enjoy your writing.Watching the two parents put a sad smile on my face, too, though I had to laugh a little at their reaction with the teeth-related criticsm. Good for Hermione, having her say the way she did. The phrasing of her feelings seemed spot on, saying exactly what needed to be said. And even if I think she said enough to either get their backs up or give them food for thought, seeing Snape going all protective made me really, really happy. Now, he doesn't always seem to go about achieving his ends in ways that take other emotions into consideration and so, despite any good intentions, his interference occasionally makes more trouble for himself. Not always, but sometimes. Sometimes he gets it so, so right instead. The possibilities make me curious to read just what he did/said along with what happens next in general :)

I have included what happened at the Grangers' home in what's coming up soon. :) I don't want to let slip anything, so I'll be silent. Thank you for reading! I'm happy you're enjoying it.
