Reviews for Caramel
Aaaagggh! No! Don't end it there! That's just pure evil!!! Seriously, I'm glad to see you back and writing on this again...and I will indeed be wandering over to the ss/hg exchange and checking out what's over there from you! Poor Lavender...I hope that maybe she and Seamus can get together and find genuine comfort in each other, so that they won't be so bitter (although getting together in a shared state of bitterness isn't perhaps the best way to start a relationship). Your teaser for the next chapter has got me chewing my fingernails...my money says Lav's interrupted before she can tell Dumbledore what she knows/suspects about Hermione and Severus, but we'll see. In fact, since I wrote that, you can now make sure that it doesn't happen that way at all! Crap.I eagerly await to see what happens with Lavender, with the potion, with everything! Welcome back!

Thanks, you! And, uh, keep that lynch mob away from me! Can't write more if I'm dedded, right? *smiles weakly*xoxo
Well that was interesting. So many things going on. I am so glad I am not a teenager anymore. To much drama. This was a really good chapter.
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Oh my GOD am I glad I'm not a teenager anymore. Just get to look forward to my sons' teenagery. *shudders* Thanks so much for reading and reviewing, and for sticking with me. :D
Yay, you're back and thanks for the update!Wow! Is Lavender going to tell him then??Looking forward to seeing what happens next!
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
It's good to be back; thanks for the review! :D Kind of looks like she is going to tell him, doesn't it?
Response from Jinxie (Reviewer)
Why does that sound like she's going to tell him about something else instead?
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
*makes shifty eyesUh, dunno...*whistles*sidles off...
OH MY GOD! Lav Lav...aggg. I can't quite remember the earlier parts of this story, though, so I might have to read again.
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
*laughsThat's the problem with going TWO MONTHS before updating--even I forget what went before. :DThanks for r&r. <3
I squeed when I saw this up! Welcome back :) Oh, the agony of ambiguity and that murky gray area. You've woven these threads so tightly. It's hard to imagine how they will ever come untangled. The intensity of sadness and fear in this chapter is palpable. You are building to a crescendo (right along with JKR). Meep!:)
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
O hai! It's good to be back; thanks for reading, you fabulous creature. <3<3 Am a little abashed posting such a mizzible chapter after my hiatus, but that's where the story is. Onward! xoxo
I never pegged Lavender for being the vicious sort. Not truly vicious and evil; just obnoxious. But I think she's going to cause a lot of problems, and doesn't even realize. Hopefully, she'll be put in her place, or the damage she tries to cause reversed. I feel bad for Hermione because she has no clue as to what's going on behind her back.
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
She's not vicious or evil; she's just in a lot of pain and, like a lot of us, looking for someone to blame. She has no clue what HG is really going through, and Ron's total rejection has just pushed her over the edge. And ideally HG would clue in to what the people around her are doing/feeling, but she has a lot to manage just inside her own head! Thanks for writing me; thanks for reading. :D
That was one hell of a chapter! :)
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Thanks, sunny! It's good to be back. :D
OMG! That was brutal! Thank you so very much for the update. This story is really one of my favourite SSHG, so I am really happy to find it being continued. This chapter is simply intense with all that emotions bleeding out, and the drama, of my!The turn of events from the previous chapter is also very well-executed.Given previous hints, the fact that Lavender found out was not surprising, though the how and when are deserving of curiosity. So, Severus knew Lavender knew? Hmm...Does the teaser mean that Lavender has been Obliviated by Dumbledore? Given the old man`s manipulative tendencies and the things at stake, I would expect it of him, certainly.Greatly anticipating the next update. Pretty, please?
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Thank you for the wonderful review and kind words! Answering them two+months later is scrubby--I'm so sorry. I am grateful for your reading and appreciation, and can now say: chapter 36 coming up fast. :D
Uh oh. Every time Hermione tries to "obtain unauthorized" potions ingredients from the Professor, things don't turn out exactly like she had planned. Will this time be different? Only time will tell.Hopefully Lavender will keep the fact that Hermione has read this book a secret between just the two of them, but somehow I fear that cat is going to get out of the bag sometime or other, somehow or other. Now I'm caught up on this story –waaaaaaah– and I have to wait for your next update to find out anything more. I enjoy reading this so much!Beth
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
You know, initially, I didn't think Lavender was going to cause any more trouble, but in writing the next few chapters... well... she's a nosy one, I'll put it that way. Okay! going off to revise and post now! am sure you would rather read chapter 8 than me yakking on in UR comments! Thanks for your support, Beth; it's very nice to hear from readers like you who are enjoying the story. *blows kiss
Ooooo... Could Hermione's fantasy have been the same one that Snape was having as a reward from the Dark Lord? Our Hermione has become adept at hawt fantasies. *fans self*I think Hermione was very wise to play her cards close to the vest and not tell Lavender any of the pertinent details. That would never do. Better to wait until she is home for a visit with Jill to spill those beans.I can't wait to see where you go with this story.Beth
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Aw, you know anything HG sets herself to, she will excel at! :D
Will Albus be successful in getting Severus to take on a student teaching assistant? Perhaps in the end he will see the good in the idea. Then again, maybe not.I thought his ‘Expedio’ smoking spell was pretty original... preserving one's sense of taste and smell sounds like the kind of thing the Potions master would do. It wouldn't do for a brewer of dangerous potions to have diminished senses... that could lead to any number of bad outcomes. If he is going to smoke from time to time, this spell is a good idea. Well done.I glad that for once the Dark Lord meant to give Severus pleasure instead of pain, but I have to admit that at first I couldn't decide on the object of his dream. Then I decided it must have been Hermione. After all, he had been noticing her for what seems like ages. That's my guess.Another great chapter!Beth
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Ooh, another great review! Thanks, Beth. I have to give credit to my beta greenstuff for helping me work out the smoking spell--definitely need your senses about you in the Potions lab! And I will continue to be vague about just who SS was experiencing that night at the Lestranges'. (There are a few possible answers, I think...)
I checked out ‘Caramel’ by Suzanne Vega on utube and it is awesome! It really compliments this chapter.I liked the way you described Hermione's fantasy of being with Snape... a mixture of what she has read, what she has actually experienced, and the things she would love to happen but can only imagine. If this isn't a perfect description of a young woman's active fantasy life, I'll eat my hat.Well done! Beth
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Oooh, I love it when people listen to the song! The studio version (from the CD) is even more dreamy and sultry. And I'm so glad the explanation of how HG develops her fantasies works for you. Please don't eat your hat (unless it is made of chocolate for some reason XD).
I just found this story today and read straight through to here. I have found it very entertaining and at times down-right funny. My only dislike is that Snape is a smoker. If there is no reason for this detail in the ensuing plot, I don't understand why so many writers insist that he smokes. I doubt that someone like him would partake of any habit that would become addictive. He is too strong for that. Or, at least, if he started in his younger days, just like becoming a Death Eater, he would later see the folly in it and quit.Other than that I love the story. Keep those chapters coming!

Hi
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
! I am glad you are liking the story. I'm sitting here working on chapter 10... :DYou are by no means the first to object to smoking!Snape. I didn't realize it was such a common trope. This is the first fic I started writing (tho I've made a few other short ones since I began this), and I was actually surprised to have SS come out in this chapter as a smoker. It's a nasty habit. But. My SS has big chunks of his personality that are poorly integrated pieces of his angry adolescent self. I think in canon he shows a lot of this--his outsize animus toward Harry, his deathless obsession with Lily. When I had him in a scene with manipulative dad!Dumbledore, then thinking about Lily and confronted by young Hufflepuff love, it made sense to me that he'd have this moment of self-destructive adolescent rebellion, and that that's part of what the smokes are about for him. So I have a psychological reason that works for me with the Snape I'm doing here--angry, under pressure, not always a rational being. OKAY, will stop talking now!! *facepalm* Thanks again for dropping me a line.
Interesting book. I think she's looking for trouble, though.
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
*looks through spyglass* Yep. Big trouble ahead. ;D
wow mindlowing superb i dont think i have come across a severus/hermione fic as good as this it was so addicting the sex scenes so tastefully done and the romance is hotttt!!!! love your characterisations of just about everyone especially lavendar lol
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Thank you so much! What an awesome review. Did I mention thank you? Thankyouthankyouthankyou. :DDDD

Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Yay, glad you like! Am sitting here working on chapter 10... chug chug chug.
Wonder what that spell will do? :)
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Oh I dunno... *once again beckons
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
to stick around and find out* :D
Ooh, interesting. Can't wait what that little spell will acomplish :)
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Oh, that spell, that spell! Hermione, what were you thinking copying it down?! :D
I may be in the minority, but I think Lavendar might make a good ally for Hermione.
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
In a way, you are right, as you'll see in chapter 7! Thanks for reading :D
No! Don't forget Muffliato, or you're doomed to endless days of embarrassment afterwards! Perhaps Hermione ought to consider a well-placed Obliviate on Ms. Brown...Enjoyed the opening fantasy, but overall this was such a brief chapter--I was just getting into the read, and it was over! I hope there will be a new update soon, as I really like the story a great deal and am looking forward to some more thoughts from Sev's end of things as time goes on. Five stars!
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Agree about the short *facepalm. Sometimes the natural breaking point comes so early. The next chap is in the queue, and it's normal length (for me)--2000+. Thanks so much for the sweet review.
really enjoying your work on this -
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
thanks! really appreciating your support :D
Bet Hermione wishes she could change her room-mate. Maybe she should wander down to the dungeons and see if there's a spare bed there by any chance?!This continues to be interesting; I look forward to more! :-)
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Yes, extreme awkwardness thanks to no-boundaries-Lavender. Relations will ease in the next chapter. Thanks for sticking with me.
Poor Hermione, getting cought linke that :) But maybe something (good or baaad) will come of it :) I'm ready for the next chapter if you are :D
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
You are right--getting caught is going to help move things forward. Next chapter in the queue, I hope you enjoy!
