Reviews for Caramel
I do hope they have a little dance together at the party after all she is his 'teaching assistant'.
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
That would be sweet, but alas! As you may have read by now, there will be angst and misunderstanding instead. I wish they could dance together now!!!
shocking start.you like suspense. and giving me heart atacks all the way through your story.well. at least that intro was the outro of your last chapter.Teaser!!aha Lavender and Malfoy were the two respective students that had seen the true side of the story. If I weren't so daft, I could make out on my own what it means for all involved, that Draco knows about it.pray, enlighten me. or do I have to wait till it is all revealed in chapter 30something? as much as I love this story and am happy everytime that it does not stop at the current chapter, I am not patient, (being daft and needing help in making out the clues) and need to read or get some information. please. But I know you( ahem, sorry, you know what I mean, I read your style and technique), and am sure, that you will not feed a good introduced key to the fishes, if you have proper use for it.aaah, so many words for such a small item. But see, I am hooked, hooked, hooked! All your doing.will you promise me one thing: not to abandon your story ?she goes to the party with a red herring. tarting herself up. no, she does not need to tart up. she just brushes her hair a bit more than usually, takes her best dress and voilà seduction!Hermione is on stage!and Sevikins' mind getting something to think over.... hihihi much more effective than being kind to him for a whole year. that is a real strike! yes!
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
I will not abandon the story :D. I love it too much. There are many things that could happen with Draco's knowledge... we shall see what does happen...
This is lovely for sure, but unnerving. They still have 1.5 years before she finishes school, yet both their feelings are more or less clearly defined. Are they going to get together before NEWTs? Their mutual history in this story certainly points that way.
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
1.5 years seems like an awfully long time. and it is. we shall see what happens (hint: there will be angst and UST, and then more angst, and finally finally at long last sunshine).
the start reminded me of " Papillon", a french prisoner.yes, it must be dreadfull, being down there, where no fresh air can reach you. with the hunger for action, work, anything, and not being able to perform anything. grr.he must be boling. And then comes Minerva and talks about how Dumbledore rummaged around in his work and brought it in HIS order as long as he was locked away. Someone carrying HIS life in hand. not possible.and Hermione of all.hm,getting closer.and he can't even find a fawlt in her work. grr again.can you remember how much you enjoyed working together, each absorbed in ones own task, down there during the detention long long ago?these times could come back, just think.no, but now he has to think of voldemort needing his potions.he is to good a servant. But not needed, as it seems.dangerous.uh-oh
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Still needed, at least for a while. But as we know LV will dispose of him when its convenient. I was glad in this chapter to give SS a little break, a few days when he could just read what he wanted to read and follow his own wishes, even if he had to be cooped up to do it. He never, never gets a break like this. On the other hand, when you are dedicated to your role in war, it can be dangerous to get a taste of what peace would be like, to be a person and not a weapon...
And again the music gets her part.I like it when some things are not just a gap - filler but become really a link a thing of its own in the story.and music. what better can there be than music as a link and trigger both for heling and love *sigh*she touched him! and she got her last ingredient! ha! she will never start brewing the potion. no! of course not! as sure as Severus is no Slytherin, hm?hey, a Slytherin using muggle electronic listening to muggle music.things ar getting up side down. And I like it!!what is Madame Pomfrey telling us here. He needs L.V. to be released from his re - growing liver - problem?nasty!!well, done by a nasty maniac. what else was to be expected.he has to crawl to this bastard and plea forgiveness and healing. grr.you have nice ideas up in that nice little mind of yours.ahead, more of them!
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
It is remarkable the way she is fooling herself. More proof that, powerful as the rational mind can be, it can also cooperate in its own downfall by finding justification for ambiguous choices. *** That is really a horrible curse, but it did seem logical that LV would do something like that: something to hurt and even cripple but not kill, and that only he could reverse.
she helps him. yes, marking essays is no fun at all.well, she manages it with a sneer and snapeish remarks. must get some fun out if it.why Lavender!!! grr.. yes, girl, you had better not do this in public.Aha, Snape is " sent home" for family matters. lets hope nobody checks on that.but who cares.yes, they are right, people would be sacerd tolearn that their children were so close to L.V.s influence, and get confronted with his abilty for disgusting cruelty.Ah, good you didnd't let Dumbledore find out everything right on the spot.He is right with her being impressed by his mind. But he hasn't found out, that a brain and a wonderful character discovered beyond the surface can make up for a lot even bad manners and not so nice shapes. he never looks at hands, does he?? and he is gay? hm. can not be. or else he would have noticed the things like voice, the way he moves, and the hands. tz he is getting old.tragic how he muses about his death.but he is looking forward to keeping the reigns in hands even after that!! power, never wants to give it away.
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Yes, this chapter is proof that in my version, Dumbledore could not be gay, or he would see the danger and the allure of Snape!
so Dumbledore AND Harry get on the track.the headmaster will ask something of her. to be the one who will take over some work for Snape?so he likes the thought of her being closer connetcted to him.? we will see.I like how you show the trio. Even Ron being Ron "I'm good at it, its my job" is helpful in his way. She has the same favourite place as Snape had and has.tut tut, who ever leaves these fags around??It came to her like a shock, being in love, definitely in love with this dangerous, nasty, teetering on the brink of desaster or even death Severus Snape . no wonder the crying and sobbing wouldn't stop.
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
NOT a convenient or easy person to love, for sure. And not a good time to fall in love with him, either, when he is on this path to "murder" and "betrayal" and having to spend even more of his time with LV. Can you imagine? Ugh!
as much as I fear this kind of chapters, they are needed. As well as Dumbledores speach at Snapes sickbed.this is what Voldie does to those he loves and needs.much more does he do to those he doesn't care for.be prepared this is the position we're in.And Hermione sees with her own eyes, what danger her Sevikins is in.Hagrid, the strong Hagrid carries him. unique picture. So it was a potion L.V. needed that didn't work as planned. But he needs his personal physician, he can not have him killed.voldie is not thinking straight. Or Bella. Will she get her share for this? she acts like a skinhead. really. voldemorts sidekick Glad, Snape remembers the spell that was cast on him.Hermione storming in, and then the tears. just let it roll. She is telling the boys? hm,. no.making up some heroic speach maybe, but not telling her secret feelings. And the headmaster? does he guess? better not so.
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
I think by now you know the answers to most of your questions (about telling the boys, what Dumbledore guesses, etc.). I think LV gets especially violent and crazy when his physical health is threatened: immortality is even more important to him than power, and that is saying something! Bellatrix is just a psycho, and she is also jealous of anyone who rivals her place beside LV.
Dr Joy from the seventies!! aha!And handed out by the self made sex-therapist Lavender!!who would have thought of her as a confident for poor Hermione. And helping her with this manual.!wonder, how long she'll wait, till she gets the poition started.and how would this look like: getting to know his skin.sounds irresistably tempting. but would it really help?it would only madden her the more, not to have the REAL thing, no?thank you again for a wonderful chapter!and on to the next
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Yes, Lavender actually surprised me with this book, but it was such a good one. Do you remember Joy of Sex from the 70s? I saw it long ago, I can't remember where, when I was a child, and the pictures were memorable! And yes, it does sound like an opportunity for torment. She just wants what she can't have!
oh no! being caught "busy". but she has the nerve to reconsider, and not be embarrassed- cool girl.good that she could convince Lavender that there was NO Ron in her dreams. bah.And being so nice to tell her, that she was glad, Lav was around WonWon. And best was, tell that there was an unrequitted love, and anyway not enough time for a boyfriend. That will keep her Lavender out of the way. at least I think so.And never forget that Muffliato again.. oh girl. where were your thoughts *ggg*must have happened right at the same time Snape was at Voldies Party, right? aha aha
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
EXTREMELY embarrassing. But HG is always one to make the best of a situation, and really, she was not the one being rude, it was Lavender for butting in. And also for giving Ron tongue baths in the common room. Yuck. Lavender is a persistent and nosy person. As it turns out, that makes her very handy to have around--she forces the plot forward sometimes, like she does here!
Oh my. Lavender spilled the beans to Ron about Hermione's liking someone a lot, and now he is determined to find out who this mystery man is. Just so long as he continues to think it may be McLaggen, things should be okay... but then, Ron never will give up on finding who Hermione's "special interest." is.I can't wait to see how Slughorn's party plays out!Beth
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
I think the saving grace about Ron is that he's a boy, and he doesn't have the kind of imagination or ruthlessness it takes to really stake out Hermione and figure out who she likes. He'll let it kind of fester inside and bother him, but he won't know what to do about it without some help from... well, we'll see what happens. *is ebil*
you are wonderful with details. the fleeing King and the Queen "You are soo dead!"or his musing about clocks and time and the present.or his time with Lilly, sharing cigaretts, having a place loves, because it reminds him of her, despite all that had happened afterwards.oh, I feared for the 2 Prefects while snogging. I feared he would hex them. Instead he used some chilling, and off they went.he knows how to get one thing without using straight power, force or his position.cool.And then the summoning. no. he goes after the worst is over. I always fear to read these things. but you let it be his fun this time.Whom is he speaking or thinking of? just say?
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
thank you; this was one of my favorite chapters to write--the first time I really spent any time inside Snape's head, and I was surprised and pleased with what I found there: so many close associations with his teenage self, feeling rebellious against Dumbledore's authority (and of course against LV's control). And remembering Lily. It is not exactly her he is thinking of in the last scene, but his longing to be wanted, loved, desired...
In thinking of ways there could be "happily-ever-afters" for this couple, in SPITE of Dumbledore, the war, and even the Shrieking Shack, I can't help but rely (please, please) on the intelligence of Hermione. She's not the "smartest witch of her age" for nothing, now, is she?And she would hardly be the woman of whom Severus said "her mind was lovely...ordered..."and so on, if she could not be capable of pulling together the scattered facts from the last 24 hours (which braye27 enumerated so beautifully) and SEE that not only is "something up", but have a fairly good idea what that "something" is.And then that leads me to think of the girl who packed a year's worth of everything she and the boys would need for hunting down Voldemort's horcruxes in the wild for a year, and I take hope---For if she could "plan ahead" to that extent, and have laid by in store against the evil day perfect preparations for virtually every contingency......then could she not equally well have "laid down in advance" a way to "re-claim" her memory of hers and Severus' love, for the day when she could take it up again?Until I hear from you in upcoming chapters that all hope is lost, I'll keep clinging to 'impossible' scenarios of a way out for them...Please do hurry, as you can! :)
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Hello, my friend. *sits down beside you and takes your hand*I will be posting chapter 36 in a few days, and it will be the final chapter of 'Caramel'. I am planning a sequel, in which, among other things, things that get broken in this story will come to be mended (you know I've always been aiming toward a happy ending, however distant). But it will be a while before I begin posting that, as I have a fair amount of thinking and developing to do.Hope that's not too spoilery, but thought you'd want to know. :)
good she has a friend who knows and maybe even helps her a little. and again a little music added. You know how to work with this element.lyrics and music telling two different tales.like heart and ratio?but I must say, she found her own way to keep her sanity.divide them into night- Snape and day-Snape one obedient and willing and helpful the other the hating git.oh yes, it is too good, that Slughorn is her potions teacher.just think!poor Hermione, you think the last year was abnormal? ha, just wait till this year ends.everything will be as upside-down as upside down it can get!
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Exactly! This year is going to end so horribly when she ends up in love with a murderer and a "traitor". Doesn't get much harder than that. *** Music is such an important part of life, eh?
are you working in a lab.the working tabel which you set up for Dean reads as if you have never done anything else than ecduce caustic sap for magical potions.I’m like a Dementor. Sucking a bit of joy out of any room. my my you really have him!! you are unbeliveable!again those two sides telling the storie. so cool.both aren't ignorant of each other. but look lgnorant to the respective other. As it should be, Snape would say now. you put so much passion and sense for detail and a cute romantic style of describing in when she discovers that Snape is ...what?He’s bloody well made of sex. That is what Hermione points it.well and anybody else, too.you are brilliant! I like your style
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Thanks again, I am so happy you are enjoying the story. That's a lot of what I seem to do here--2 sides of the same event, and the ways their interpretations are so different depending on their preconceptions.
it's springtimeHermione has something to do with sports? she goes jogging. though it is not mentioned in books, it does make sense. she is brainy, and getting things straight would work wonderfully in nature and while running a bit. nice idea.and the MP3 player. too funny. the muggle technics in Hogwarts. but Beethoven in scottish country must work wonderfully. you have style!!so she tries it with logic. what does she want to find out. what she knows about him? who or what he is? what her suddenly appearing feelings could mean or lead to?ah, you show the two sides now. that is nice. one has to learn what the master thinks!and this moment where she returns from her run, he has the feeling to disturb her happieness or so. hides. and then her look at the castle behind, her thoughts, her smile. and he desires this smile to be meant for him.ahh. yes boy, this could be yours.you are closer to it than you might think!! *hehe*he IS human then!thank you for this light, and interesting chapter!
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Glad you liked the innovations. A few readers have been not so sure about Hermione as a runner, but I think it could work. And it just seems hard to me that in canon they don't seem to have a lot of music. It's hard for me to imagine being a teenager without music! And SS is very human, yes--that's what makes him so interesting! Thanks for reading and leaving such nice detailed reviews. :)
there you are. for four years you see someone and then, one day it is as if you've seen him for the first time ever.soo nice how you start this.she assigns herself for a detention with him. (And I must say, you gave her a very good speach!! ha!)hm, that will be a restless day for her. and night. so much of him for one day. that will make her very very very confused. and restless.a shocking moment when their eyes met. hm, what did he read in hers ?hope he doesn't guess anything?
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Hi! Exactly it. For a long time, nothing, then suddenly, wham, that person is there. Especially powerful for her because she doesn't really go looking for attraction--doesn't have a habit of looking at someone and trying him on for size. (And no, he won't guess anything for quite a while!)
I really loved this story1!!! I love it when talented authors use music to convey feelings!!! I hope you do write the sequel!1 You are a talented writer. thank you so much for sharing your imagination with us!!! And some great music too!!!!

I loved how Minerva pulled a Slytherin on the Potions master to inform him of his "assistant," Miss Granger. Smooth as silk.Severus was a bit surprised to find that Hermione's grading of his DADA students essays was so much like his own. He must realize what an apt pupil she truly is... and that his style has rubbed off on the Gryffindor.Dumbledore's and Narcissa's ability to say what needed to be said with out asking or answering direct questions is a very good thing. I'm glad that Albus was able to convince Severus that he should take this time afforded him to rest and recuperate... And now I'm wondering just what this Sublimation project is that Severus was working on prior to Voldemort return. And while I'm wondering about that, I'm also wondering what Hermione has been up to these last few days. Brewing a potion, perhaps? Thanks for a great chapter!Beth
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Thank you Beth! sorry it's taken me so long to respond; have been on vacation and largely AFK. So... I'm glad SS was able to take the time and recover--it can be very hard to change gears like that, even when your body needs you to. And HG isn't brewing yet... no, not yet... :D
I know that Albus and the staff's hearts are in the right place, but if they don't give Severus something to do to occupy his mind, his next "quite sincere" hex will almost certainly be more dangerous! I wonder if Poppy's one of those doctors who makes a dreadful patient herself... Anyway, hope Sev decides to keep his newfound TA--I suspect that Voldemort will be making his future so busy that he'll have to accept the continued help just to keep up.Loved the teaser for the upcoming chapter! I'll bet Lav's going to confront Hermione about the paper marking and not her crush, but I'm sure it'll still be good for a few moments of hyperventilation on Hermione's part regardless! It's tough having multiple secrets... you're never quite sure which one it is that someone claims to have found out!
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Thanks, glad you liked the chapter. It IS hard keeping multiple secrets. I've been trying to imagine how SS does it--having to keep secrets from someone who regularly raids his mind (LV). Orders of magnitude harder than what poor HG has to do, but then he's had much more practice.
Good chapter, interesting teaser...
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
*smiles at you* Yeah, kind of a mellow Snapey chapter. Wanted to give the poor man a little rest, whether he wants it or not!
I've realized now I'm several chapters behind on this story and this chapter just pushes me forward! Thanks for it-- I'm finding this a fabulous way to spend a Friday evening. The introspection and tension is just great.
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Oh, sweet! Nice to have you along for the ride. I am enjoying writing this story so much :).
