I am a classically trained singer with three children. I love Star Trek and have watched probably every episode of every series. Favorite HP charaters are Snape and McGonagall. (not as a couple.)

This was a very sad chapter but I'm so glad that Hermione outsmarted Umbridge again!!!
Response from debjunk (Author of Empty)
Mmm, she won that round, luckily for Severus. Things would have been so much worse otherwise!
I knew what would happen but it was still hard to read. Well-written though.
Response from debjunk (Author of Empty)
Thank you. I appreciate your comment. With the promt, things definitely have to go badly for a while. It's hard to write as well. I hate seeing Severus suffer.
So many questions... where is Dumbledore and who is the mystery man? I guess I'll just have to read and find out.
Response from debjunk (Author of Empty)
I promise, if you keep reading, everything will be revealed. It just might take a bit.
Oh how I hate Umbridge. I'm glad that Kingsley turned down her punishment. I was worried he's accept.
Response from debjunk (Author of Empty)
I hate her too. Her motives are very self-serving.
That would be hard, to know he can hear but not know how he feels about what he does hear! :)
Response from debjunk (Author of Empty)
Wouldn't it? And how embarrassing, knowing the way he is and what he's probably thinking! Or at least what Hermione thinks he's thinking.
Harry and Hermione are making good progress on reversing the spellwork done to Severus! I'm sure he appreciates the hard work on his behalf by those two, and is probably passing the time now thinking of his own plans for Umbridge once he gets his hands on her... it's very important to keep a positive and hopeful attitude, you know! With Hermione doing research and experimentation, the next logical step for Harry would be to try to discover the identity of Umbridge's contact and his location. If his notes on the work of the Inservio spell could be found, it could cut through possible months of experimentation. I think it's time for Harry to dig out the Invisibility Cloak again and do some tailing!
Response from debjunk (Author of Empty)
It's definitely important to have a positive attitude. These two don't have months. At least they have Hermione. She's on the right track.
Wow, you really left me wondering what he was thinking.
Response from debjunk (Author of Empty)
Don't you just want to know???
I wonder if Snape is even listening - didn't he draw back? May be he has not tried to connect to his senses again. Then Hermione's angst would be for naught.Maybe this is the reason why you haven't written from Severus' POV again?I liked the way you discribed Umbridge struggling against the veritaserum, but not being able to hold back anything. Too bad Harry had to obliviate her afterwards.Good chapter, as always!
Response from debjunk (Author of Empty)
He did draw back, but he was aware when Hermione tucked him in the first time. I haven't written from Severus' point of view because it just makes him creepier being a statue-like zombie and not even know what's going on in his head. But that's just my take on it. If Harry had left Umbridge with her memories, she'd have told Shacklebolt, or her partner. Then Hermione would have been in danger.
Oh, I can't wait to see the next chapter. I want to know what Severus is thinking about Hermione, and Umbridge and if he's connecting things together that might explain where Dumbledore really is. I wonder if he knows this mysterious partner of Umbridges. Please write more soon!

All will be revealed in due time! *Gazes into Crystal ball and cackles maniacally.*
Well, I'm really looking forward tro reading HIS thoughts now!Great chapter!!
Response from debjunk (Author of Empty)
Yes, it would be nice to see what's going on in that brain of his, as it's the only place we can find the real Severus. You'll have to be patient and see what happens.
She's second guessing her actions with Severus. She's thinking too much as always. Why no thoughts from Severus? Didn't the last chapter have his inner dialogue?
Response from debjunk (Author of Empty)
The last chapter had a small blurb of him being amazed that Hermione could be so kind. That's it. I think not knowing what's going on in his head makes his situation more chilling. You just want to hug him, but he's stiff as a board, you have no idea what he's thinking, If he's thinking. It's just creepy. And you're right, she is overthinking. A terrible personality flaw of hers.
Good for Harry, Umbridge never saw it coming. Poor Hermione, I would hate to be outed by my own words too. Of course, it gave Severus something new to think about didn't it. ~wink, wink~ I enjoyed this chapter and am eager for the next.
Response from debjunk (Author of Empty)
It does give Severus something to think about. He really needs that in the state he's in.
At least they have a spell to begin working with. Harry did a great job getting the information from Umbridge, and I hope she doesn't recall any of their meeting.Severus will remember all the things that Hermione has said and done, and I think he is thrilled to know that she finds herself attracted to him.Now they just have to figure out the counter-spell and find Dumbledore. Great work, Mystery Author!Beth

Thank you! You're probably right about Severus, but we won't know until he's back to himself. Hermione won't rest until she's gotten everything sorted out.
Well done Harry. At least now they have got an idea of what they are facing. Enjoying this very much.
Response from debjunk (Author of Empty)
Thanks. With knowlege comes power. Hopefully, they can get to the bottom of everything soon.
At least Hermione and Harry found out basically what was done to Severus, so that gives them a place to start. As for Umbridge, Harry now knows that someone else is the force behind Umbridge, perhaps he should keep her under surveillance ... it's possible the worm behind all this may contact her again.
Response from debjunk (Author of Empty)
Being an Auror, I bet Harry is going to do just that. They do know everything. Now what to do about it?!
i don't know if that will work. she's not too bright but she's cunning. can't wait for the next chapter! thanks so much
Response from debjunk (Author of Empty)
She's cunning, but she's full of herself. Would she suspect duplicity in her own back yard? She ought to... but will she?
Yay, veritaeserum! I was thinking of that myself. But oh no! I have come to the end of the chapters! At least poor Snape has been able to hear Hermione tell Harry she has feelings for him. I hope that will serve more as comfort than as torment.
Response from debjunk (Author of Empty)
I think it will probably be a bit of both for Severus. Unfortunately for him, he's trapped in himself, unable to do anything. That's gotta be frustrating. And that's gotta be the biggest understatement of all time.
Clever Hermione! Poor Severus, what an awful situation to be in! Better to be dead.
Dolores had better watch her step as she may yet find herself a puppet of this unknown partner of hers. An excellent chapter!
I wonder if Hermione will think to order Snape to respond to her. If he could be ordered to respond to simple questions, perhaps they could eventually figure out if he is still aware of himself, and then perhaps find a way for him to communicate in some fashion, however limited. Also, would legilimency work on Snape?
Response from debjunk (Author of Empty)
Hmm, excellent questions. All definite possibilities. It really is horrible seeing Severus like this, isn't it? Hermione won't give up. She'll find a way to get him back, no matter how hard it is.
I was afraid that this might be boring since we already know the outcome, but the trial scene was well done and interesting.
Response from debjunk (Author of Empty)
Thank you! I'm glad it made for decent reading.
Ohh, horrible! Is it Dumbledore who is the poor captive? Somehow I doubt it.
Ah ha! An imaginative magical gas to influence the Wizengammut, which explains how they can come to such a horrible decision. Clever!
Response from debjunk (Author of Empty)
Umbridge uses dirty tactics. Evidently, so does her partner. Dumbledore's a good guess. Poor guy.
I am happy to see Dolores, since she is the character I love to hate. Looks like there will be lots to hate before this is over.
Response from debjunk (Author of Empty)
Oh, you're so right!
I am a sucker for ‘Dumbledore survives’ tales! And the hollowman challenge is a fave, so I am really looking forward to more. Thanks for sharing this.
Response from debjunk (Author of Empty)
Thanks! I couldn't pass up this challenge when I saw it offered!
Harry and Hermione presumably have no idea Severus can hear what they say. This could get embarrassing for Hermione! :)
Response from debjunk (Author of Empty)
You're so right! When she finds out, she'll be ready to crawl under a rock. She's already said so much!
