You know what, as surley and conticipated Severus can be, and how much everyone loves it when he is bullying and hurtful, what he just did to Hermione were completly unforgivable. I agree that, as teachers, they should keep their disagreements outside the classroom, but then again, a teacher like Severus who gives punishment and rewards based on what house you belong to, and not on the work you provide, should never be allowed around children of any age. One should be more surpriced that only Hermione seems to have the guts to take him to task for it, not even when his Dark Lord were alive should he had been allowed to treat students the way he did. I sincerely hope that your story won't take the cliche path of a simpering Hermione who can only stutter and blush everytime Severus is around, to week in her knees from his "arousing" touch to be able to make two braincells work at the same time. I want her strong and with a bit of selfrespect, not portraited as a simpering fool who makes Trelwany and Umbrigde look like her new best role models. She should make sure to tell Severus that he overstepped his bonds in a most unforgivable way. It is obvious that he knew that he couldn't provide arguments for why his treatment of other students than his prescious Slytherins should be acceptable and therefore chosed other means to show Hermione what little respect he had for her as a person. He was so low class one can hardly find words to describe it!

Thank you for the review. I, too, was appalled by Severus's behaviour. His actions were indeed unforgivable, although many have noted that Hermione's methods could be described using the same adjective. Perhaps if he weren't already in a position where he's forced to job-share with a former student, having to claw his way back after spending 14 years in a state of stasis... relegated to teaching the youngest children with the least ability (most of whom wouldn't know the difference between a bezoar and a bettle), ... then, perhaps, he might have responded differently to being challenged in his own class. But I do not offer excuses for him, because nothing could really justify his cutting remarks. We all know that Severus is no stranger to saying and doing things which result in deep remorse. We'll just have to see how he responds now and whether they'll be able to move past this. Again, many thanks for your review and opinion.

Wow, Hermione is really out of line! I really wanted to slap her. Snape was MUCH kinder to her than he could have been!
Response from HogwartsClassof91 (Author of A Murder of Crows)
This chapter has received an amazing range of opinions - one reviewer (on a different site) felt that Snape's actions were akin to rape (I know!!!) while others seem to think Hermione deserved to be punished for her actions. I must admit I didn't anticipate this... and it really drives home the fact that it's impossible to write something that suits everyone's tastes. Thank you very much for the review; I'm enjoying the opportunity to soak in such differing feedback! Next chapter is in the queue (if you dare!).
Response from cmwinters (Reviewer)
Oh, I dare. I'm really enjoying this story. But I did read some of the reviews, and I was like "are you serious?"Severus was a bastard, for sure. And he was cruel, cold, and calculating. But he was COMPLETELY in character, and frankly, all he did, once she cools down, was build the tension. He didn't turn her down . . . he said "another time". Because really, he couldn't very well be shagging her against the wall while he was supposed to be teaching class!!!

That is... all I'm capable of conveying at the moment.
Response from KingPig (Reviewer)
Okay, now that I'm over the inital melting period, I must say:I have never laughed so hard while reading a story as I did with the entire House points fiasco. Brilliant! Also, as to the smexy scene, I really hope that Hermione pays him back in kind. To see him lose all control before she coldly steps away, nearly unaffected - that would be such beautiful justice.
Response from HogwartsClassof91 (Author of A Murder of Crows)
LOL - your review was too funny! I'm glad you enjoyed the House points scene; I always imagined that was something they'd fight over if given the chance! And you've coined a new phrase for me. I've never heard of "smexy" before, but now I'm going to use it all the time (unless you've copyrighted it or something...). Thanks for the review and the stars - the next chapter is in the queue so we shall see what happens. Duhn-duhn-duhn...

Ooh, hot and cold at the same time. I love how he just walked away after--so very Severus.
Response from HogwartsClassof91 (Author of A Murder of Crows)
I thought so, too. A lot of folks didn't care for it, but you can't please everyone. Next chapter is in queue... we will see if his control was more of a punishment for her or for himself! Bwahahaha... Thanks for the review!!

The minute Hermione told Severus, “You don’t scare me, old man.” I knew she was in for the reaction he had promised her. “I warned you there would be consequences,” he whispered silkily, slowly stepping towards her and effectively closing the small distance that had separated them. I say again, girl friend, you know how to write sexy! The scene of the two of them in the dark alcove was one of the most erotic interludes I ever read! Brava! And he left her only somewhat unfulfilled and embarrassed at the way he had made good on his promise. But now the ice has been broken (my, oh, my how the ice was broken) and perhaps after she gets over her embarrassment and he gets over his fit of temper, they will decide to try it again? Pretty please?*fans self* Please update soon! I'm dying to know what happens next! A Thousand Points to Your House!Beth

Neville is in love with Hermione, and brought her the most beautiful flowers he had. And, of course, Severus realized immediately what Neville's gift meant and told her so. But, of course, Hermione insisted that Neville's gesture meant only friendship... she was not going to allow her brain to go there. Besides, she couldn't take her eyes off Severus: "He had removed his robes and overcoat, and he was lounging on the sofa wearing a crisp white shirt and reading a small book, his long legs crossed casually before him. Hermione stared in silence as he reached forward and picked up a small crystal glass that contained some amber liquid which looked like whisky. She allowed herself to admire the way the material of the shirt stretched against his broad chest..." For what it's worth, I wouldn't be able to take my eyes off him either. Her sessions with good ol' Bertie are causing her headaches and sleepless nights, and I wonder how long it will be before she catches on to what he is up to and calls a halt to all this "reminiscing."If good ol' Bertie hadn't showed up at the door to Hermione's just completed research lab, I'll bet good ol' Severus would have given her a kiss. *Sigh*
When she and Severus were talking in the kitchen, when she apologized for not having noticed that his portrait did not appear in the Headmaster's office, when he placed his fingers beneath her chin and his thumb began stroking her cheek I just knew we were going to have a bit of good snogging... but, no, not yet...The news of Brukowski's appointment to be "the Head of Research and Development for Arglist Industries in Germany" came as a shock to Hermione, and the accompanying parchment with the question mark had to be an invitation to join him at Arglist. This was a very busy chapter, and I have to go find out what is happening in the next one.I love this story of yours to pieces!!! Oh my! How could he possibly hold himself in check? His self control is greater than I imagined...I know he must feel the sexual tension between them.I am suprised Minerva did not come barreling into their exchange with the rapid flux of house points.Riveting

Thanks so much, Irish! His self control is indeed amazing - apparently in direct proportion to how greatly his pride was wounded by her undermining his authority. I wonder how much longer his self control will last, though...Thanks for the review and stars!
