"A Murder of Crows" was my first foray into fan-fiction, and I treasure the lessons I've learned while posting it.
Reviews for A Murder of Crows
I bit my nails. I twirled my hair. I scratched behind my ear. I clinched my teeth. I rubbed my hand over my face. I held my breath. I sighed. I loved this chapter! You have a little bit of everything here, and it is, I think, one of the best chapters in this amazing story. I'm glad they have been able to bridge the chasm that divided them, and I wonder just what Severus will do to stop Lucius... Lucius is playing with fire now and that fire is named Severus Snape. Well done!!!! Beth

Thank you for the lovely review and stars, Beth! I'm so pleased you enjoyed this chapter (even the nail-biting, hair-twirling, teeth-clenching, breath-holding bits!!!).I'm glad they're moving back together, although I have no doubt it will be a rocky path for awhile. New relationships rarely enjoy smooth sailing, and these two have brought along enough baggage to sink the whole damn ship! :-)Thanks again for your kind comments. The next chapter is in the queue!
Oh, this is wonderful! Lucius is no match for the two of them. Did Snape discuss Hermione with Dumbledore's picture?
Response from HogwartsClassof91 (Author of A Murder of Crows)
I believe he might have ... I think he visits the portrait quite a bit. No doubt the former headmasters have much to discuss.Thank you so much for the review and lovely stars. The next chapter is in the queue!
I am glad they are back together as well. The emotion Hermione has when describing how awful it was to find out what she was really creating and how badly it could have turned out actually made me cry. I was so glad Severus came back to her. excellent story - can't wait for your next update!
Response from HogwartsClassof91 (Author of A Murder of Crows)
Thank you so much - I'm quite pleased you're enjoying the story. I can only imagine how devastated Hermione was to learn what the true intentions for her research were. At least she stopped it as best she could at the time, before true tragedy struck. Now we'll just have to see if she can put a stop to the plans, once and for all. Thanks again for the review and lovely stars. The next chapter is in the queue!
I really liked the comparison between Hermione and Lily for Severus. I never thought about it that way.
Response from HogwartsClassof91 (Author of A Murder of Crows)
I'm glad you liked it! There are definite similarities between the two when you start thinking about it. Severus has more memories of Lily than we canon readers are given, so it was easier for him to make the connection sooner. :-)Thanks so much for the review and lovely stars. The next chapter is in the queue!
OMG. That was amazing. I love this story and your writing. Seriously I love how much depth you put into their relationship and the after effects of their actions. It's so real and true and just amazing. Reading these last two chapters has seriously made me think about The darkest months of my life and I look at my husband and thank God that he was able to forgive me and my stupid descions. Anyways enough about me. Excellent Chapter Dear. Much Love~ Karen Lyn

Thank you so much - your compliments have warmed my heart and completely made my day! Mistakes and forgiveness are always difficult topics to cover ... There are no easy solutions, and only time and patience will heal the wounds (for the lucky ones). I'm sorry if I've stirred up any painful memories for you ... Trust is so damn fragile, and it's all too easy to revisit old wounds at times. My apologies for not responding sooner, but I wanted to let you know I'm back now and the next chapter is in the queue. Thanks again for the review and stars!
yay! some demons sorted out and laid to rest, though i'm sure there will be more. (i'm at work so must be brief.) at least there is detente for now. i will spend my afternoon working and daydreaming about ss/hg makeup sex. :Dp.s. maybe hermione's appetite would have been better at the beginning if she'd had warm scones to tempt her. ;)
Response from HogwartsClassof91 (Author of A Murder of Crows)
LOL - Perhaps she'll indulge in an evening Patronus to make her feel better! :-)Thanks so much for the review and stars!! My apologies for not replying sooner, but the next chapter is in the queue at last!
Glad it's all out in the open now, and maybe Severus can love Hermione like he did Lily. Look forward to more as always.x

Thanks so much for your lovely review, Sav!! Sorry I've been so remiss in responding to reviews. But I'm back now, and the next chapter is in the queue at last!! w00t!!
Impressive theory, that Snape disliked Hermione because she reminded him of Lily. I really liked that idea. And great chapter. I'm glad to see the two of them back together.

Thank you so much! My apologies for not responding to this review sooner; real life pulled me away from writing for awhile, but I'm back now and eager to continue this story. Thanks again for your review!
Oh God. This is just awful. I have to have hope for them though because as much as I don't like to remember there was a time in my relationship with my husband (then boyfriend) that it didn't look like we'd ever make up. Obviously we did...but those were some dark times. I can't wait to read what happens next. Much love ~ Brena

Oh, hon', I'm so sorry to hear of the difficulties you had in your relationship, but I'm relieved to read you made it past them.I have hope for them, too. I think they have much to overcome, and I can see the path ahead will not be easy. Thanks so much for the review and stars!

Response from HogwartsClassof91 (Author of A Murder of Crows)
Next chapter is in the queue! You're very perceptive to see that they are both hurt... many people are quick to assess blame or take sides, but I agree with you. I think neither one is going to emerge unscathed from the encounter. Thanks so much for the review!!

Wow this story is great! I just read it all in one sitting and it's really building up so nicely! The mystery elements are so very intriguing, you drop little hints that are starting to pool up into something dark and forboding. I absolutely adore the UST between Severus and Hermione, whew. And what I like about this story most is how plausible it is. All the characters are very true to form and the plot is believable and very well worked. I cannot wait to read more of this story, superb work here!

Oh my goodness - what a lovely review! Thank you ever so much for your kind words; I'm so pleased you've enjoyed the story thus far and find the various elements to your liking. It will take a few twists and turns along the way (some dark, some light), but hopefully you'll stay to the end and enjoy the payoff. (I certainly enjoyed writing it.) Story has been completed, so updates will post frequently... in fact, the next chapter is in the queue! Thanks again for the very nice review!!

Wow what a slap in the face! How you gonna drag a happy ending out of that mess? huh? Of course, maybe you don't want to give us a happy ending. anyway, I am on for the ride.

Amazing, wonderful, mysterious, snarky, *hawt* I could go on and on. LOVE your Snape-- he's perfectly in character. Also love the mysterious background of Hermione Granger. Very original-- Hermione has sins untold to atone for as well. Can't wait for the next chapter. thank you for this indescribable story. ~kizzy

well. imo, there was a certain irony to the scene in the classroom, where hermione is supposedly responding to him punishing her gryffindors because he's in a bad mood - but isn't she sort of also working off her own bad mood related to her research project by punishing him? or trying to, since he does get his own back, and in spades. and yeah, i guess he crossed a line there, but - it's snape. speaking for myself, if he could have been easily categorized, placed in a box and kept in check, i would have no snape obsession and a lot more free time on my hands. ; ) and in the end i think it's not all that clear who's punishing whom, since it's hard for me to believe snape will walk away from that encounter unscathed himself, one way or another. and - did i mention yet how INCREDIBLY HOT that scene was! o.m.g. can't wait for when you finally get around to writing something a little more satisfying for all concerned in that regard!

Oh, it's written, I assure you!! Actually, the entire story has been completed, so updates should post frequently. I agree with everything you've said... they were both in high dudgeon, both have been affected by the growing tension, both behaved inappropriately, and I believe they will both suffer the consequences. And your assessment of Snape is wonderful - we really got very little of his character in canon, but what was there was complex and impossible to pin down. And that's just one of the reasons he's so appealing. Thank you so much for taking the time to write this insightful, lovely review. I really appreciate it!!!

You write beautifully. The words you use stimulate all the reader's senses. "She heard the door to the Potions classroom open, and then it closed with a finality that echoed in her head long after the noise had died in the hallway." What an awesome closing sentence. Bravo!

OMG! I'm aghast! That was just so cruel of him to do to her. So calculated. So embarrassing. That would be enough to turn my heart and emotions off to him. Regardless of who's quarters they were supposed to be, either he would get thrown out or I'd go live in the Gryff dorms. There's no way I'd continue to share space with him after that. I dearly love Severus, but that's a push over the edge.
Response from HogwartsClassof91 (Author of A Murder of Crows)
Thank you for the review. I, too, was appalled by Severus's behaviour. His actions were indeed calculated and embarrassing, although many have noted that Hermione's methods could be described with the same adjectives. Perhaps if he weren't already in a position where he's forced to job-share with a former student, having to claw his way back after spending 14 years in a state of stasis... relegated to teaching the youngest children with the least ability (most of whom wouldn't know the difference between a bezoar and a bettle), ... then, perhaps, he might have responded differently to being challenged in his own class. But I do not offer excuses for him, because nothing could really justify his cutting remarks. We all know that Severus is no stranger to saying and doing things which result in deep remorse. We'll just have to see how he responds now and whether they'll be able to move past this. Again, many thanks for your review and opinion.

Oh God. That was awful. I mean it was good but the ending made me say "Oh Shit" So yeah. It was awesome that they had this little thing out there, but I really wish Severus would stop being a douche-bag. Well I mean that with all the love in my heart for him, but thats just his way. I can't wait to see what happens next. Cheers! ~

Hmmm. Hermione was completely out of line interfering in his class, but I think Snape crossed the line there, personally. Humiliating someone sexually is not a good foundation for any potential relationship. How is she supposed to trust him, sexually or otherwise, after he made a fool of her when she was at her most vulnerable? He demeaned her, and himself, by his conduct. Bad show.

Wow! Ouch! That was harsh (or should I say hard )... and not entirely unexpected given Severus' warning. He did say there would be consequences! I really hope that there will be some sort of payback in kind. Turn around is fair play after all! Great job, I hope you update soon!
