"A Murder of Crows" was my first foray into fan-fiction, and I treasure the lessons I've learned while posting it.
Reviews for A Murder of Crows
That chapter actually amused the heck out of me.

"Amused" in the good way, I hope... not "amused" by how incompetent the author was in her characterisations...I'll cross my fingers it's the good one (I've been reading FFN reviews, and now I'm full of self-doubt, LOL!!)Thanks so much for reading, and for sticking with the story long enough for Snape's arrival. I just adore him... and I had a ton of fun writing the next few chapters...

Oh, definitely the good sense. I'm always amazed by people on ffn who write these horrific flames in horrible English, with misspellings. I really don't think you should take them seriously.

Whew! Great advice, too. I guess you just can't please everyone! Thanks again, hon!

Oh, wonderful! I do love Snape. And I particularly like this Snape, who is all biting and sarcastical in a fight, but, once the verdict is given, has the good grace to be civil. And poor Hermione. Oh dear, she's already lost, isn't she?
Response from HogwartsClassof91 (Author of A Murder of Crows)
Oh, thank you so much - I'm so glad you liked my version of Snape. I was really nervous about putting him out there for the first time, so to speak. And you've nailed him perfectly - he can fight vehemently for what he wants, but loses graciously (for the most part). And, yes, I think Hermione is quite lost already. That comment had me laughing with delight!!!!Thank you so much for reading (and staying with the story!!) and for leaving the review. Yay!!!

I had to chuckle at the obvious pissing contest between Hermione and Severus. It will be interesting how these two will manage to work together and not kill each other.
Response from HogwartsClassof91 (Author of A Murder of Crows)
Tee hee - I'm glad you were amused by them butting heads. They each have such strong personalities, it's fun to throw them together and see what happens! Thanks very much for reading,

Oh yay! I like how this story gets better with every chapter. I always love when Snape comes in a story and sees Hermione as a woman for the first time!Great job, I like this so far.

This story is terrific! I'm so glad I decided to check it out...now you've got me waiting VERY eagerly for the next udate! There are so many things I like about it so far-- the originality of the plot, your characterisation of Snape, the tantalising clues and gradual revelation of Hermione's past, just to name a few. Somehow it's quite different in tone from most of the post-DH stories I've read, and so far I'm really enjoying it. Also looking forward to finding out what Hermione was working on at Arglist, and how Brukowski was involved...it's all very intriguing :D I liked the parallels between Hermione and Emilia Woodhouse (nice name, inspired by a certain Jane Austen character perhaps?) in the last chapter; as for this chapter, well, what can I say? Snape, Snape and more Snape-- it's all wonderful. Keep up the great work!

Wow - what a lovely, insightful review... thank you SO much. As this is the first fanfic I've attempted (I had never even heard of fanfic until this June, LOL!!), I can't begin to explain how much the feedback means to me!! Yay!!!!Ah, I see you've recognised Ms Woodhouse's name - well remembered!!! Perhaps she'll help with some matchmaking at some point?! Emilia is my daughter's name, so that character honours her and Jane Austen at the same time!I'm glad you liked Snape in this chapter - I was actually VERY nervous about introducing him, since I'm sure we all have quite distinct opinions about how he should act. He's such an amazing character, though, and a lot of fun to write! Thanks again for the amazing review, and for reading my story. I really appreciate it!!!

Perhaps both Hermine and Severus hate Halloween. Hermione because she was locked in the bathroom with the troll, and Severus because Lily Potter died on Halloween. At any rate, they seem to have gotten off to a rocky start with each other on this Halloween. Snape is still his snarky self, but he's also very sexy. Hermione can't stop herself from watching him unbutton, first his tunic, then his coat, and finally the buttons of his shirt. And then he asks her “Do you intend to join me?” as he indicated his bed. I had to smile. He may have been in a coma for 14 years, but he hadn't lost one iota of his sex appeal. As for what he noticed during this "tour" of his room, he liked that bit of leg Hermione exposed when she reached to get the photograph of herself, Harry, and Ron from the headboard.I think this is going to be more fun than a barrel of monkeys. And with Brukowski and the Woodhouses out there up to Merlin-only-knows what kind of mischief, it just might be a lucky thing for everyone that both Potions Master and Mistress are "rooming together."I love this tale you are weaving, and really look forward to your next update!Beth

Squee!!! Thank you so much for another amazing review, Beth! You make an excellent point about both of them having negative feelings about Halloween - too true! And I'm glad he came across as sexy - I just wonder what's wrong with Hermione that she didn't jump at the invitation to join him... she's obviously not a fangirl like me!!The next chapter is already in the queue, so the story should update by the end of the week. Thanks so much for sticking with it and for leaving me such a lovely review!! You're the best!

I feel so bad for Hermione. Her nerves make her behave like a twelve year old. I can sympathize.

I can't help but wonder if the Brukowski-Granger Principle that Hermione formulated along with her Potions professor at Jagiellonian University has something to do with the problematic research that caused Hermione to destroy all her work at Arglist Industries and flee into the night. And why do I fear that some of the vials of potions she devised in her work for this "research facility" survived?Hermione had attended both the Muggle university in Krakow and the magical Jagiellonian University, and that was where she met Professor Mikolaj Brukowski. It was at his insistence that she decided to accept the position offered by Arglist rather than an offer from the Ministry of Magic. And it seems that Arglist is a "private research facility in Eastern Europe with significant financial backing." And in Eastern Europe, the Dark Arts are taught and practiced. Hummmmmmmm..... there just has to be a connection here.Certainly Hermione's reaction to seeing Emilia Woodhouse's copy of the “Brukowski-Granger Principle” that Hermione had written made me sit up and take notice. And why had Emilia toured the magical universities of Europe when she got her letter to Hogwarts. Why not first check out the magical universities in the British Isles first. And why did her parents want her to visit universities so early on anyway? Do Emilia's parents have a connection to Arglist and/or Brukowski? To paraphrase Shakespeare, "Something is rotten in Arglist."It is a good thing that Severus will be returning to Hogwarts, because I think it will take both the Potions Master and the Potions Mistress to sort out all the evil that is afoot. And I write too much. Great Chapter!!!Beth

OMG, Beth - what an insightful review! I can't even begin to express how thrilling it is to read your review; it's amazing to know that the story is being read and examined for all the little details and secrets I tried to embed. I'm glad you have lots of questions! I wish I could answer them all, but then it wouldn't be any fun to read the remaining chapters, lol. And just to assure you that you won't be left hanging, I wanted to let you know that I actually finished the story this week (all 33 chapters - yikes!). So now I will go thru the polishing and beta process, and I'll definitely be posting updates frequently. And all of your questions (plus a few more that may arise soon) will be answered when all is said and done! Thanks again for reading my story, and for leaving a prize-worthy review! Your reward will be a glimpse of our favorite Potions master VERY soon...

I found the interaction with Dumbledore's portrait to be quite amusing! And the foreshadowing when Emilia had Hermione's book... makes me wonder what we will find out--perhaps in the next chapter? Well written! I'm looking forward to more!

Interesting chapter Emillia must remind Hermione of herself at that age. Perhaps she will help her fit in better. If nothing else, Hermione may have a better understanding of what it's like to have a 'little-Miss-know-it-all' in a class, and help her adjust.
