"A Murder of Crows" was my first foray into fan-fiction, and I treasure the lessons I've learned while posting it.
Reviews for A Murder of Crows
hard to believe this is your first fan fic! your characterization were spot on and your plotting facinatingly intricate. thanks so much for shaing your time, talent, and vision. mucho smoochies
half way through this, JKR's words of the idea of Severus Snape in love being a terrible thing, and who would want to be loved by him were ringing in my head. it's one of the trickiest parts of this ship, keeping him in character and yet making him appealling - especially to someone like Hermione. Around that time, I was also rather hoping she'd knee him the balls and send him packing, but by the end i was very glad to see you had redeemed him and redeemed him admirably.
Thanks for a very entertaining tale.
this was a wonderful ending. Making Severus and Hermione the newest Malfoy's godparents was perfect. Thank you for this wonderful roller coaster of a ride.
Such a brilliant story. Thank you so much for sharing. Feel free to write another :)
Dear HogwartsClassof91.
Thank you for a great story, and a great ride. You had me hooked from Chapter One.
Can't wait to see more from you.
And on a related note ... reading your description of how you first became a fan of the ss/hg ship sent my mind flying back along memory lane. For it has only been about a year, since I, myself, logged on to mugglenet, and with that same kind of morbid curiosity you described, clicked on the ss/hg link, and found the story Denial by the great Little Beloved, which eventually made me find my way here.
Since I am more of a reader than a writer I will stop here ... let me just say, once more, thank you for your story.
Being annoyed with being called 'mine'? And she didn't notice being called someTHING. He must be spiking her tea.
I've been keeping an eye on this story, waiting for you to finish it so I could read it in one go. this seems as good time as any to review it. First off, I think you're characterisation of Snape is spot on - as is Hermione's - when she's nowhere near him. I know that attraction can make people act in really strange ways, but she's given him a lot of chances now and been humiliated and hurt as a result. Attacking her mind like that was nothing short of rape. I realise she's not blameless in what she's done - and the whole muggle research thing is intriguing, but Hermione isn't the sort of woman to keep taking abuse just because she's desperate for some sort of human contact.
Anyway, taking a break now before reading the rest. I'm enjoying the read so far.
I loved it! Well done.
Your fan fic experience mirrors mine almost to the day. It was July of 08 and Denial was also my first SS/HG ship. My first reaction to the two of them was more like a 'no way, yuk'. Glad I checked it out.
*thunderous applause for a job well done* Bravo!!! You should take a bow, HC91. In fact make that thirty-three bows, one for each chapter of your engaging, well-written epic.
The tone to your epilogue was perfect, quite hopeful for the future, sentimental in remembering losses, snarky yet sweet during their marriage proposal banter. The author's note was a nice touch as well.
Please don't let your muse go on holiday, or worse yet, into retirement. I look forward to more great stories from HogwartsClassof91!
(I lost my first review, I do hope I can remember)
for the story: The proposal was perfection.
There was one line in there that was so patently Snape, it would fit any relationship. My desire to lift if for my story was amazingly strong.
for your A/N: I'm a huge fan for letting amateur mistakes stand in stories. I love when I can see the evolution of brilliant writers. It helps those of us who aren't see that even those who are brilliant were once mere mortals.
As sorry as I am to see this story end, I do look forward to you posting your next tale.
"Denial" by Little Beloved was the first HG/SS fan fic that I ever read as well. Before that, I had not imagined them together. But she made the pairing seem so natural that now I can't imagine them with anyone else.
This really has been an amazing ride. I'm so glad you wrote this story and decided to share it with us. Good luck with your future endeavors.
i really enjoyed your story and look forward to your future work
Wonderful read, I am so glad you decided to join our ship
This is one of the best stories I have ever read. I love it, love it, love it. Thank you for the inspiration you've enstilled in me to become a better writer, and to finish what I start. Thanks!
This was such a great chapter - the whole scenario with Lucius, Severus' fear of her dying and her wandless magic were all great tools to drive the angst to new heights!
LOL...Jean-Jane (we all thought it was Jane too)!!!! I was eating an apple and almost spit it out all over the screen. I have left some angry reviews and I apologize! I generally love mysteries and this was one humdinger. Thank you
Thanks for the wonderful story. It has been a true privilege to read it. And your author's note made me laugh. that was my reaction to the HG/SS pairing the first time I heard of it.
awesome story....... at times there were near heart atatcks but brilliant in the end.
thank you for a very good story. It has been a joy following it. Looking forward to more fic from your hand

A good ending to your story, thank you. :)
WOW! Thankyou for sharing the backstory of your 16 months writing htis. I had no idea this was your first, and I admire your discipline and courage to put it out there.
I truly enjoyed reading the twists and turns of this story. It was steamy and plot filled..... super satisfying...
You rock,
Thank for sharing your creativity
A wonderful, captivating story, I always waited for new chapters. I am looking forward for your new stories xoxox
thank you too for making this a wonderful, enjoyable, frustratingly funny and sad at the same time. you kept me thinking on my toes, always thinking about plots and twists. if this was your first, imagine what it'd be like if and when you write your 20th! awesome job! i really cried a few tears when they were battling it out you know, especially with snape described in such manner. great job and good luck! passion for one's writing is always awe inspiring, but it's your message that will inspire others.
HCo91, thank you for sharing this incredibly wonderful story!
Sixteen months? Is that right? OMG, it didn't feel like it! *applauds your endurance*!!
"A Murder of Crows" was INTENSE fun, drama, mystery, and romance! You had me on the edge of my seat so many times ... I just loved this story all the way!
And doesn't it feel good to have been declared the "Queen of Ebil Cliffies"? Merlin's beard, you put us readers through a lot of moaning and nail chewing! In a good sense, of course. =)
I will be on the lookout for new stories from you, HCo91, and will remain your faithful reader. *blows kisses your way*
