"A Murder of Crows" was my first foray into fan-fiction, and I treasure the lessons I've learned while posting it.
Reviews for A Murder of Crows
*sobs*
It's really done, isn't it...
So, it's now turned from the most exciting WIP in this corner of the fandom to the most exciting Just Finished fic.
I love, love, love that you brought Narcissa, brave Narcissa into this! And no, this isn't just because, um, my blonde hair. It added to the Epilogue, and it offered some redemption to the Malfoy family that Draco alone simply couldn't carry on his own. Thank you for that! <3
oh well done! I'm glad that's all sorted out and SS and HG can just enjoy each other.
i do enjoy evil!lucius. but what now? he's right about new relationships being fragile..especially with severus. thanks so much for the delicious update and i look forward to the next step.

Evil!Lucius is my favorite, as well. So deliciously and unapologetically villainous (and it doesn't hurt to picture Jason Isaacs in the role, lol!)Thanks so much for the review... and for continuing to read the story!

Well, crap. Surely Severus will see through Lucius's manipulations. Waiting with baited breath for the next chapter....

Perhaps once the ugly haze of jealousy passed, he might have examined the scene in a more logical manner. But then chapter 14 had to come along and ruin everything...Thanks so much for the lovely reviews - I apologize for taking so long to respond to them. Chapter 15 is now in the queue...

That was absolutely lovely and quite clever as well. I loved their banter the morning after.

~blushes~Thanks so much! I'm always taken aback when a writer I admire says nice things about my smut. I struggle with it so...PajamaPants's response: Eeeep!I'm on the list of writer's you admire? Now I'm blushing. :)

Oh, that was wonderful. Granted, it was painful and miserable for all involved, but it was beautifully written. I can't wait to see what's really going through Severus's head, including what he knows about Arglist.

So glad you liked it! I love how something can be 'painful and miserable' and yet still be considered 'wonderful.' Fiction rocks!!Thanks so much for the review!!

Evil is the hand that giveth and then taketh away! Looks like that little bit of interaction will have to last Hermione quite a while...

LOL! Great quote for this chapter! At least she got a bit of satisfaction before being insulted. And the eejit probably managed to make himself suffer more than her (in the long run). Men are so... um... interesting. :DThanks for the review!!

Oh, that chapter was classic! I love how Snape's ridicule of her adolescent form has 'matured' to very subtle assaults on her 'virtue'.

Exactly - she just can't win, can she?!So glad you've decided to read the story... I had doubts with the beginning (waiting until the fourth chapter to introduce Snape), so I'm quite pleased you stuck with it.Thanks so much for the review!!

I'm finally reading this highly recommended story. The first chapter has me quite intrigued! Lucky me! There's a lot here to read. (and procrastination wins again!!!!)

Oh, I'm so glad you're reading it! Procrastinators of the world unite... tomorrow!!This is my first attempt at fanfic (my first attempt at writing anything, actually) so please bear with me. I shudder to read the early chapters, but hopefully you'll agree that each one gets a little bit better. I'm learning!BTW, the story is complete (in 33 chapters - yikes!), so I'll be posting frequent updates

I hope Hermione decides to tell Severus about how she found out she was working for Lucius. I'm hoping she can repair the damage done by the scene Lucius caused. No doubt he did that on purpose. I'm thinking there's going to be one helluva fight soon.

I'm thinking you're right! You've probably read the next chapter by now (I've been dreadful with answering reviews and offer my apologies for such), so you know that it gets worse before it gets better. But Chapter 15 is in the queue... we'll see if our pair can get past all this mess...Thanks so much for the review!!!

Absolutely terrific story, but I now need a *large* gin and tonic and the next chapter asap, because the stress is getting to me. A very, very nasty Lucius. Brrr.

If you're pouring, I'll take a G&T, too... Cheers!Thank you so much for the review - I'm pleased you're enjoying the story (and nasty Lucius). I adore the deliciously, unapologetically evil villain character (especially when I can picture yummy Jason Isaacs in the role). Chapter 15 has been added to the queue. Thanks again for reading!

Ouch! Annnnnnnnnnnnnnngst! Lucius is deliciously evil and manipulative, and Snape is spot-on cynical. Such pain you inflict, Mighty Author! Hermione is bereft, but Severus feels far more than he lets on to mere mortals ...
Response from HogwartsClassof91 (Author of A Murder of Crows)
Yes, exactly - I'm so glad to see someone notice that Severus is responding automatically... that the scene he saw was painful to witness, and he did what he always does - lashes out first and regrets it later.Thank you so much for the review and stars... and for continuing to read the story. You rock!!

When Severus was "dancing" the tango with Hermione in their quarters before they left for Malfoy Manor, it reminded me of the music video of "In Demand" by Texas with Alan Rickman. Now that was TANGO!Finally we know a little more of what transpired when Hermione was working at Arglist Industries. I have to wonder just what she was working on, and what applications she had in mind during her research. Something good can always be turned to an evil purpose, and you've made me wonder just what Lucius and his cohorts are planning.Lucius' behavior to Hermione was exactly the kind of thing one would expect of him, but I was furious that Severus would just assume that she was in complete agreement with what Lucius suggested to him when he realized that Severus was there. How could he have forgotten what he and she had done and said to each other for the preceding week? He gave up too easily, without demanding an explanation. Arrrggghhh..... I look forward to seeing what happens when Hermione returns to the castle. Hopefully Severus will be willing to hear her out. But will she be willing to tell him the truth about her past and what Lucius was trying to get her to agree to? Things are getting very messy.Great UST and great angst in the same chapter! Well done!!!Beth

I must admit I watched that Texas video A LOT while writing this story. (Honestly, I watch it on a weekly basis, LOL!)Things are indeed getting messy... the scene Snape witnessed on the terrace had to have devastated him. The only phrases he overheard could have easily been misconstrued (the threats were whispered in her ear) and her struggles undoubtedly looked like encouragement from his angle. Not a good situation... for either of them! Thanks so much for the awesome review, Beth. I really appreciate it!!

So many loose ends were tied up as they spent the night in the Infirmary talking over all the things that had transpired at Arglist. I'm glad Hermione had a chance to talk with Draco to let him know she didn't hold him responsible in the least for anything his father had tried to do. And seeing Harry and Ginny was a real boost for her, too. Ginny was happy for her friend that she had found a good man in Severus Snape.
However the best part, the part that made me smile the biggest, was when Severus asked her to promise him she would never leave. *sigh* Then she asked him to promise her the same.
This has been a real roller coaster of a tale, and I've enjoyed myself immensely as I followed along with our heroine and hero as they fought Lucius Malfoy's determined efforts to find a way to do away with all Muggle-born magical people. Now I'm looking forward to the epilogue! Well done, HW91!
Beth
Oh I could kill Lucius Malfoy! I feel so bad for Hermione and Snape. What a way to leave us all on the edge of our seats, and I'm not just refering to Hermione and Snape's relationship either. I cannot wait to find out what Hermione was doing at Arglist. Looking forward to the next chapter!!
Response from HogwartsClassof91 (Author of A Murder of Crows)
Isn't Lucius so wonderfully evil?! I must say, I like my villains with an abundance of style...:DHermione's work at Arglist will be given much attention over the next two chapters... I hope you'll be able to see why she was so devasted by the events of her past. Thanks so much for reading and leaving a review! I appreciate the feedback.

You are tying up all the loose ends - I'm sad to see this story coming to a close.
Poor Draco, what is he going to tell his children about their grandfather?
OMG what a roller coaster ride. I wanted to *strangle* Severus when he stole her memories!
He should've sedated her for longer, though. :p
That was wonderful, as all of the chapters have been.
"resident Sleeping Beauty" I loved that. I look forward to the epilogue, I'm sure you'll round this brilliant fic off quite nicely.
Nicely written...
Ah no! How could you mention the evil Nano... obviously i should be writing and not reading right now. Please tell me this doesn't mean I have to wait until December for another Murder of Crows fix?! You're spoiling me with all these quick updates.
I just love this story and I cannot wait to read the epilogue to see how things work out for them.I'm 6 days behind my NaNoWriMo, too. So, welcome to the club!
Response from HogwartsClassof91 (Author of A Murder of Crows)
Aww, thank you so much! I've almost finished it, so it shouldn't be much longer now.Yay for NaNo slacking!!! Procrastinators of the world unite! Tomorrow.
Poor Hermione, tricked by Lucius into an awful situation with terrible consequences - twice. And poor Severus. How that scene must have hurt him, especially as it is reminiscent of the ways that pretty boys in his youth kept him from finding love with a decent woman. Of course he misinterpreted it and acted badly. Rare is the man who, finding his new lover in the arms of another, would not storm off. Then again, being Snape, he may have realized how unlikely that pairing was and acted to give Hermione the opening to escape by running after him. He does know something of Lucius' cruelty, after all. He is also fairly clear on where she lives and may trust her ability to find her way home using her own estimable skills.I rather suspect that Draco will have words with his father. He's not the bootlicking child he once was. With any luck, Luna won't figure out how badly her sudden illness was used against her friend. She would be devestated.

I don't know... she's only one of the most powerful witches ever... in her mid-thirties... at a party full of people where she could easily find her way back to Hogwarts. How will she EVER make it home safe without him?! LOL...Thanks for the amazing review... you hit the nail on the head with Snape's reaction. He's proved his jealousy earlier in this story, and seeing her like that had to have sparked a fairly violent reaction. Funny how logic abandons our minds when we see such images. Not to mention, he's been in a coma-like state for a decade and a half - how the heck can he know what the devil she's been up to?!Thanks again - you rock. (And I totally live for your reviews... I'm SUCH a whore!)
