"A Murder of Crows" was my first foray into fan-fiction, and I treasure the lessons I've learned while posting it.

Tsk, tsk.... Severus and his boyish temper tantrums. Didn't he praise the advantages of a mature lover? Well, emotionally mature would be great. I hope they will soon clear things up and stand together against Lucius.

Yes, I'm afraid jealousy reared its ugly head in this chapter. Men are such fickle creatures...Thanks so much for the review!!

jerks, both Lucius and Severus. Severus for his actions at the end of the chapter and Lucius for what he was trying to do to Hermione. He needs to be shot. I can't believe Severus didn't even give her a chance to explain. does he really think that she would freely allow Malfoy to touch her? UGH! anyways, i can't wait to read the next chapter. I was getting anxious about the update, this is my fave!

Thanks so much for the review - I'm so glad you're enjoying the story (even if you want to smack the men in it). I think this is one of those cases where his being away from the world for 14+ years works against him - he doesn't really know WHAT to think when he sees them together that way. And we saw what his insecurities did to the Potions classroom a few chapters ago; perhaps he reacted without thinking here. Or perhaps there's something else going on in his mind that we can't guess at, since the evil author decided to write this from Hermione's point of view only. :-) The one thing I can say is that much more will be revealed in the next chapter (which is in the queue) and all questions will by answered by the end of the story (33 chapters - we're almost halfway there!). Thanks again for the review, hon!

Oh, Lucius! I am really dying to know exactly what Hermione developed, and how it is being perverted. And I really hope Severus will listen to her! This is a great story, and I am looking forward to the next chapter!

Lucius! That scheming rat! I hope everything will be okay with Severus and Hermione. Livvy

I just love a scheming Lucius, don't you?! And don't worry about our favorite couple - I don't do stories unless they have a happy ending. (I just enjoy toying with them quite a bit first...) Thanks so much for the review and stars!!

Things were going so well. Now, how to deal with the fall out and put Lucius Malfoy in his place. Will Severus allow Hermione to explain or will he be a no show for awhile? I can't remember, do we know what the potion is for or what it does? The new MoM doesn't appear to be on the up and up with Hermione. Is it because he knows about the potion or something else? Great chapter, can't wait for the next one.

Great review - you bring up some interesting points and ask some very good questions. I won't ruin the story by answering some of them, but I will tell you that no, we do not yet know what Hermione was working on at Arglist that has caused her such duress. In fact, we haven't even been told it's a potion... It could be anything! And remember "The Brukowski-Granger Principle" book she gained notoriety for dealt with methodologies and mixing science with magic, so the possibilities for havoc are endless! Great observation on the MoM, too! Thanks so much for the review and stars - the next chapter is in the queue!

Oh my gosh! From the heights of joy to the depths of despair! Will she finally tell him the TRUTH, so he can be her ally and help her? Or will he even let her tell him, at this point? (By the way, I absolutely LOVED the tango scene! Rickman & the lovely actress from the "in Demand" video, right? I truly love the way you put such a dead-gorgeous sensual scene into words!)
Response from HogwartsClassof91 (Author of A Murder of Crows)
LOL - Yes, I admit I was watching "In Demand" A LOT when I wrote this story, and I couldn't resist: he is just SO hot in that video. Thanks so much for the amazing review and stars - I really appreciate it! And both of your questions will be answered in the next chapter which is currently in the queue! Thanks for reading!

I'm so glad you're enjoying it - I know I'm rather evil to keep throwing them into tense situations, but that's life, right? Thanks so much for the review and stars!! Next chapter is in the queue!

Wonderful chapter! I loved the "resident Sleeping Beauty"!!! I'm looking forward to the epilogue!
Response from HogwartsClassof91 (Author of A Murder of Crows)
LOL! That was my husband's favourite part, too! Probably a good thing Snape hadn't heard that part ...Thanks so much for the reviews and stars!
This was a wonderful transition chapter, HC91. So many times you read stories with intense action, and of course you need an epilogue for the happily ever after, but it doesn't always flow smoothly. This had a nice continuity to it, tying up loose ends between Hermione and Draco. It answered more questions about the Minister, Lucius and Severus. But most importantly were the lovely, gushy, tender moments between Hermione and Severus. I said it before, I will hate to see this end.
Response from HogwartsClassof91 (Author of A Murder of Crows)
Aww, what a lovely review! Did you ever receive the reply I sent to your email? I had to submit some sort of a prove-you're-human thing, and I may have buggered it. Anyway, thank you for your kind words—they mean the world to me!I must admit it was difficult to return to the tender stuff after writing action. I'm so relieved it wasn't overly jarring. I know not everyone likes a happily ever after, but I suppose I'll just have to point them to my other story, "And The Stars Never Rise" if they prefer soul-crushing reality in their fiction. :-)Thanks so much for the review,

!!
At least Hermione and Draco can move past what his father did. Draco is a much better man. I liked that Severus still couldn't put into words what Hermione is to him. This has been a wonderful and eventful ride. KUDDO's

This is so good story , and I can say I will miss it .Wery sad that it is completed . Well done.
Response from HogwartsClassof91 (Author of A Murder of Crows)
Almost completed ... There will still be an epilogue. I hope to post it in a few days, actually. I'm delighted you enjoyed the story! Thank you very much for the review and stars!
How wonderful. I'm so glad Draco turned out to be on their side. I felt that, if he could fall in love with Luna, he had to be a good guy.Look forward to your epilogue.

And that's an excellent observation. I never liked the way his character was handled at the end of DH. Perhaps I'm naive, but I l prefer to imagine having your life saved by your enemy would change a man's outlook on life. Especially after living a couple years with the reality of what dire circumstances their choices had landed them in. *shrugs* That's the wonderful thing about fan-fic, though—it's the perfect forum to right the wrongs of canon.Thank you for the lovely review and stars!
I'm glad that all worked out. Silly Severus taking unbreakable vows again! UGH. I'd have smacked him upside the head, I'm afraid. Still, it all worked out in the end.
very good
that was exciting and enlightening. i look forward to the epilogue. thanks and mucho smoochies
So many questions answered so many left to be answered, I can't wait to read the rest of their story.
Wow, this chapter was like a roller coaster and I realy enjoyed the ride.
I'm so glad I have the next chapter to race on to, I would hate to have to wait to see what happens to Hermione.
I am thrilled that Hermione is back, and that she and Severus have returned to Hogwarts. I know she agreed to go to the Infirmary Wing of Hogwarts, but something tells me that she is at least going to try to talk him into letting her stay in their rooms. I couldn't blame her; I'd rather stay with Severus in their own bed, too.
That he was under the effects of an Unbreakable Vow, really does explain many of the things that happened, like his reaction to finding Hermione on the balcony with Lucius during the Christmas party. I can't wait to see what happens in the final chapter, and I'm thrilled to know there will be a hefty epilogue.
I wonder if what Millie had told Hermione about so many people being ready to support Severus as the next Minister of Magic. For that matter, would he want to be Minister? He may just prefer a quiet life with Hermione at Hogwarts.
One last observation: Gregor's response to Severus when he asked the Minister what had just happened sounded like something Dumbledore would have said: “I could not allow her arrival to ruin so many months of careful planning.”
Another very enjoyable chapter. Don't worry about missing the Halloween deadline you set for yourself. Perfection will not be rushed.

I can't tell you how happy I was to read the words, "He whirled away, and the dagger was pulled from her head." It was then that I knew he was putting the thoughts in her mind of the mare and of them lying in bed together wrapped in each other's arms.
But now I'm worried that she is slipping away because at the last possible minute, Lucius still managed to cut her throat. With Severus pounding on her chest, I can only conclude that Hermione has suffered such severe blood loss that her heart has stopped beating.
Oh, Lord! It's time for a miracle. Please, it's time for a miracle. And you close with another cliffie. I'm almost getting used to that.
Great chapter!
Beth
OMG this chapter was so incredible I hardly know what to say. Perfect cliffhanger.
I guess he didn't take Hermione's memories to Mexico, after all. Well, I don't quite know what to say except that Severus and Hermione have a helluva lot more trouble right now that those vials of her memories.
After they save their asses, they will have to confront all the signs that say Severus cannot be trusted.
Um um um um um. I don't know what to think, so I think I'll go read the next chapter. What an evil cliffie! mumble, mumble, mumble
Beth
Draught of the Living Death! that can only mean one of two possibilities. Either he had taken her memories to Lucius, or he is keeping out of the loop to protect her.
By the things he said and did when he tucked her into bed, I have to believe that he is taking her memories to Mexico by himself and is leaving her in Minerva's care.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it... until you tell me differently... in unambiguous terms... 'kay?
Very tense chapter!
Beth
Severus is not playing fair, I'm certain that he thinks it's for Hermione's own good, but he could be very wrong.
I am way behind on my reading and I have so much to catch up on. I must admit that it's nice to have more than one chapter ready to read.
Brava! I don't remember when I've been so sure that everything was going down the tubes. I didn't see how you could bring them back from the brink, but you did.
I think the changes in their respective Patronuses could leave no doubt that their old feelings for anyone else were just that, old feelings. Her bat and his mare spoke louder than words that those things they each held dear had become focused on someone new. They could no more deny their love for each other than they could change their Patronus with wishes.
Take a bow, this is fabulous!
Beth
wow. I'm going to have to go back and read this whole damn story all over again! the unbreakable vow was a TOTAL surpise. :)
