Please, please come back! This is one of the most beautifully  cerebral stories I've ever read. The imagination it must have required to develop the plot, the conditions, oh, I just bow to you. One day, I have faith I'll get the notice its updated. Thank you for this beautiful tale.

Author's Response: Hi Helena!  Thanks for your lovely review.  :) The story is complete elsewhere - it's at fanfic dot net (same author name) and also at Ashwinder (author name: Ariadne) - Life happened, and I never finished uploading it here.  Thanks again!  *waves ~ Ari

Helena Rickman's response: Best news ever! Thank you!

I have just spent the last couple of hours reading this straight through. What a wonderfully complex and nuanced story. I appreciate the overlap of the Isis myth and the parts everyone plays in the story. I was a bit confused by Hermione's comment about Severus being medieval, but after re-reading and teasing out the next chapter, I believe I have a clearer understanding and it is quite apt. I sincererly hope you continue to update this as I am eagerly awaiting the next chapter.

I loved the suspense.

Molly did the right thing, one less death eater to worry about.

Chilling conclusion Hermione came up with.

Such an exquisitly written story. But so much time between postings. I must admit that I had to go back a ways to figure out what was going on.

I understand how RL can get in the way. But good things come to those who wait. Right?

Although I will keep reading it as you post, it will be fun to read from beginning to end when you complete it.

I especially enjoyed the part where Minerva was questioning Hermione and the double entendras flew fast and furious. And Minerva was clueless. Imagine if she had known the truth!

Good stuff.

Wha-? That's it? I'd got really into it already... Please update soon!~Sarah

... He sat bleeding in the darkness, stroking her hair. This moment where time seems to stand still, I could really see it in my head. This shows how even some few, simple, well placed words can stir the imagination.Oh, and I love the analogy with the frock coat. ;-)

Response from Ariadne AWS (Author of A Walking Shadow)

Thanks, Karla Marie...*laughs*  Yes, I'd be quite furious as well... of course, he did need to get her wand, and what he was doing lurking in the kitchen there will come out in the next few chapters...Thank you for your review!Cheers,~ Ariadne

nighthawk

Wow, that is intense. Brilliant. The way he is confiding in a seemingly unconscious Hermione. He is somehow exuding calm, despair and hope at the same time. I wonder how the consequent "confrontation" will take place. Will she simply accept him?I hope you continue to update this frequently. Is the story already complete?

Response from nighthawk (Reviewer)

PS: I know that this wasn't the last chapter. I meant, whether the other chapters are already written. ;-)

Response from Ariadne AWS (Author of A Walking Shadow)

Nighthawk, what a lovely way to describe the mood of the chapter - thank you for that!I hope you enjoy the coming confrontation - it goes in an interesting direction. The story is complete, and quite long.  I hope you enjoy it!Cheers, and thank you again... "exuding calm, despair, and hope" - yes, exactly.  *hugs your review*~ Ariadne

Response from nighthawk (Reviewer)

awwwwww. Nobody has ever hugged my reviews. Thank you so much.

I enjoy Snape in this chapter, and I like the info telling us that all is not what we assumed (HBP happenings). I look forward to more. :)

Response from Ariadne AWS (Author of A Walking Shadow)

Thanks, Southern... I really enjoyed writing this chapter; Snape's mind (and, would he but admit it, heart) are very intense places to spend time.  Hermione makes an interesting "unconscious" audience for him... I'm pretty sure there's a metaphor there that I'd not noticed before... Hm...Glad you're enjoying the story :)Cheers,~ Ariadne

Ah, what a way to end the chapter (luckily, I've just had a sneak at the next one, eh?). I started this one a while back on ff.net, but it was hard for me to carry on with it because I rarely go to ff. Glad to see it here. :)

Response from Ariadne AWS (Author of A Walking Shadow)

Thank you, Southern!  Lots more to come on this one; I hope you enjoy it!Cheers,~ Ariadne

Mrs. Black is  used so well. like a stage prop, finding it's moment    'Coffee'   ( chuckles.)
    And her stealthily gliding away,
(Clapping hands in happiness. and laughter.)
Thank you for giving them tenderness,   the more, the better.

The telepathy of lovers, or psychometri, touching a photo or  an object owned by the beloved, and being able to communicate with them.   It exists.  Betty Shine used it constantly to help  diagnosing her clients.Minerva is the most warmhearted, stern lady, ' a claymore instead of  a spy' -    This is  wonderful... you write pictures, I could both see and feel Severus' spell arching out and protecting...

Response from Yolande (Reviewer)

Ah sorry, the last two sentences belong as review to the last chapter, 'War'.I agree, Molly as mother bear, why is she so pitieless against Snape.?..He has been working for them all for years and years.    Dramatically wrong that no one else gives him time of the day.

...the second time i am reading this wonderful tapestry.
Your words, that I don't have.
I will read it a third, a fourth, keep coming back.
The passion, the skilled intuition, the leaps of not writing that are as silences in good music.....hm
You  placed Snape  on canvas to the life.
Hermione is oddly ageless, which is good, setting her against that male.
   I can't write more. I can't catch my words in truth, so I won't.
It is not that I don't want to.  .sigh, reading on....,
