Seventh-year student Hermione Granger decides to marry the one eligible wizard who did not ask for her--the horrid but powerful Severus Snape. All is not sweetness and light. Be careful what you ask for. Or, as has been said by many a wise witch, "Marry in haste; repent in leisure." MLC

BEST AUTHOR, Moste Potente Potions
http://community.livejournal.com/sshg_awards/33422.html
Care of Magical Creatures recently received two awards on "Secrets of the Dark Vaults," a Russian fanfic site. Best NC-17 and Best Maxi Translation. The Nine-Year Plan was awarded Best Mini-Fic! I'm delighted to be in translation and to please the readers in Russia!

With the completion of Care of Magical Creatures my fanfic output is going to slow way down, but if you want to be sure to know when new fics post, please follow me on twitter. I don't tweet much, but I'll surely tweet that kind of thing.
About Mia
I came to the world of Harry Potter relatively early, after first resisting it because it just seemed too trendy. But when the first book came out in paperback in the US I picked it up at the airport when I was about to catch a flight, and two chapters in knew I would be ordering the original from amazon.co.uk in hardcover as soon as I landed.
I came to fanfic late, waiting until after I'd read DH. That means I've been totally obsessed with the fanfic world of Harry Potter, and most specifically the SS/HG ship, since August of '07.
I'm helplessly and hopelessly hooked.
Reviews for Care of Magical Creatures
Very interesting. Good, mysterious, intriguing. But you are leaving me hanging in mid air again! Help! More PLEASE!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I'll get the next chapter up asap, promise!
Interesting - what kind of potion did he give her - this has me worried a little. I cannot wait for the next chapter - what a cliffie to hang on the end.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I'm so sorry, but I'll post the next chapter asap!
I refuse to believe he would poison her. He is protecting her - please I hope he is protecting her with some potion. And what was up with the book he checked out?Again, wonderful chapter.Livvy
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Many questions... and the answers still to come!
What potion did he brew? We know that he does not plan to kill her yet, he feeds her a potion without her conscious knowledge. One thing it speaks volumes of her trust in him. I think if anyone else had tried to do that she would have come awake hexing and asking questions later. Did he perhaps brew a potion to abort a pregnancy that they are not sure exists? Well done. Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
She has trusted him implicitly from the very beginning.
Very cool chapter - Severus is just so cool and different. (I'd say indifferent but without the 'in') Still he's so furstrating - and yet so wonderfully in chatacter. The scene of him entering Madam Malkin's to buy Hermione robes was hillarious! But the clifie - that potion? Oooh update soon, I gotta know what that potion is!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
the potion... ah, yes, the potion...
Now, what was that all about?? A birthday surprise? Or something else interely? I feel like I can't keep up with all the secret projects, so can you please put the cards on the table soon, at least some of them? But I loved this chapter and I really like the way their relationship is going.Update soon!!!! PLEASE!gab
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Many secrets, yes. But the question of the potion is answered asap!

I'm still doing my whole 'reading-in-the-queue' thang, but I thought I'd drop by and say I'm still really enjoying it. Just one question, though: at one point, Hermione was researching their Ministry rings with a view to countering the magic so they could have sex whenever they wanted, right? Did I miss the part where something happened with that or is it still to come? Or did I maybe imagine it?! LOL
Author's Response: Yet to come! And thank you!
Curse you for turning me into a giddy FanGirl. It took every ounce of dignity I own to contain a gigantic SQUEEE at that last line. Please please please tell me that's a quote from a really sappy movie or something and that you didn't write that. And by all that whining I really mean, "nice job. Again." --H
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Oh, no. Honesty compels me to admit, I wrote it. ::blush::
I wonder how Severus is going to respond to Hermione's statement. It seems that she believes they're soulmates. Is this information what she wrote down on the board, or did she write down other things? I'm curious what she doesn't want him to know about. I'm glad that they seemed to work out their differences on her dropping her classes. There will still probably be some arguments, but at least the topic is settled.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
The board has lots of stuff on it, but stuff he can see.
Thank you!
50 virtual chocolate fudge brownie points to you just because of lines like Severus calling himself a "shining presence" and your having Hermione lump Severus along with Ron and Harry as "horses' arses", a term which very aply describes all three sometimes. Nobody stands up to Snape as entertainingly as Hermione can. Brava author & brava Girl!!!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you! The horse's arse will not go gently into the night, either. It will be reprised.
Very very thoughful of her HoH in many ways. I'm glad to see that McG hasn't really hardened her heart towards Hermione and still really cares about her--just disapproving in her choice of spouse. *shrug* (can't please everyone!) So the RC's all all hung-up on propriety? bah. How Victorian. Now to see how Severus takes the news!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you. I believed that in this situation, McG's priorities would not be to put a stubborn young Gryffindor ahead of the school.
Rock ON!! You seriously just keep getting better and better.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you!
With Ms Figg gone (but not forgotten), you've become my newest addiction. And that's quite a compliment.... now then... ahem... chapter 45 isn't going to write itself you know. Taps foot. Checks watch. Refreshes page.
Again.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I take that as the supreme compliment intended! Thank you! And Chapter 45 is waiting in line for admin!snapeaddiction's response: Um-hmm. Exactly how long is this line?
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
LOL! Yesterday I was number 24 and I just checked and I'm number 12, so it's moving!snapeaddiction's response: "...so it's moving!" I see. You're of the glass-half-full persuasion. Number 12. Indeed.snapeaddiction's response: Honestly. The good ones should get a "Go To The Head Of The Line" pass. Grumbles off.
"Because our story will have a happy ending..."
Oh man I hope so!!!
Beautifully written as always.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you. I believe in happy endings!
oh ho!! and how is severus going to take that !??!! and isn't that what we'd all like. thanks so much and i await the next chapter semi-patiently.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
The next chapter is in the queue, so "semi-patiently" should be patient enough!
"When I realized that not controlling meant you wouldn't touch me," she said. "Now, sit down and reward me.""You have Ravenclaws to humiliate and Hufflepuffs to bring to tears. Stop acting like a lovesick schoolboy and go do your job."I absolutely adore these two lines. It shows how much she has become like Severus. Simply brilliant.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you for noticing!
Oh my, I can't even imagine how Severus is going to react to that theory.
Brilliant chapter but need more.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you!
Awww, that was a tender ending. I especially liked the symbolic way she let all her hair loose from its confines.
"Let go of me, Severus Snape, before I hex your bollocks off!"
Go, Hermione, go! She's really starting to come into her own. The balance is shifting and it's becoming more equal between them. She's taking him on and doing a splendid job!

Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Yep, she doesn't have to be PMSing to get in his face. LOL!
I love the idea that the kisses are how their souls touch. There was a movie (not sure which one) that had a line about a kiss is sharing a bit of your soul with someone. It is a beautiful thought.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I missed that movie but it's a nice thought.
If she were a cat, she'd be purring adorably, just the way our cat snuggles up to me & my partner @ bedtime. They argued, yes, but looks like they made up. And they did it adorably.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I think he's purring, too.
And you end the chapter with that little bomb? AARRHH. Headdesk.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Ooops. More to come!
:) Destined to be together. Indeed. keep up the good work!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you!
I love how you portray Hermione's strength in this story, how she never truly backs down from Severus. And with him, you capture his personality so perfectly in dialogue that it leaves me speechless; hence, the absence of a lot of reviews from me. (Sorry!) I love this story, and cannot wait until you update again!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you so much!
I like the idea of souls waiting to kiss. But this is all so sweet and lovely and the outside world sucks big time.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
If anything is going to be sweet and lovely, let it be between them. I like that the world sucks but they have each other, rather than having their relationship suck!
Hi there!
I've been reading your story ever since you started but I never reviewed before.
I have to say that your Snape it's one of the most accurate ones I have encountered out there.
I enjoy this story maybe a bit too much. LOL!
And I wait eagerly for each update.
You probably have been asked this before but I have to know. The comparative religion ideas? Did you research them for this or is it a hobbie of your own?
Anyway on to the chapter. It's just so frustrating how Severus just won't admit to care deeply for Hermione (at least not to her face). But then again if Severus wasn't frustrating then I probably wouldn't enjoy this story half as much.
So hopefully I'll be a devoted reviewer from now on. Hope to see another chapter soon. I can't WAIT to see the reaction that Snape has to th
e idea of him and Hermione being something as trite and cheesy (in his eyes) as "soul mates".
~Aby~
P.S. Your line in chapter 38 "Drowning"
"Merlin, these kisses—somewhere, constellations were born because of these kisses."
It's my all-time favorite line in a HP fic. And trust me I've read quite a few. ;P
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you so much for your wonderful comments!
I was an adult when I became an Episcopalian and took confirmation classes--the Episcopal Church being the American version of the Church of England. At the time I was very interested in the history of the CoE and the theology, but the stuff that has cropped up in this story are things I remember the retired priest who taught out class saying. I haven't gone back to research or finetune, since I'm always careful to make it clear that Hermione is recalling what her Father Gadbury said to her, meaning she's remembering things that were said to her when she was ten years old. So it's not really meant to be heavy theology, just the cool things I liked a lot and still remember. (And my priest wasn't Father Gadbury. Even though I adored him and think he's wonderful, I wouldn't plant his name in the middle of a fanfic!)
I never set out to make religion of any kind part of this story but it's true that since it has been an interest of mine and I had them marry at Winchester Cathedral, it ended up going in the direction it did. I always hoped it wouldn't upset people! But I do think it could make a lot of sense that a young girl who has strange feelings and awarenesses that are unexplained by anything she can read or discover on her own might turn to religion--even intellectually--looking for an explanation.
And re: that line. It's probably the most ostentatious thing I've written. I knew as soon as I wrote it that it was purple prose, but I loved it too much to change it. So thanks!
Response from thegoodshipper (Reviewer)
Well it may be ostentatious true; but I still love it. :)
I just thought: "Dang! I wish I get to have a kiss like that!" LOL!
I think also what made it so special to me was that Severus was the one who though about it. And let's face it as much as we all love him he isn't one to wax poetics about a kiss.
So like I said it was probably that combined with the words itself. I mean how wonderful must that kiss be to evoke such feelings in someone like him?
And what do you know! The kisses became an essencial part of the plot now! So maybe constellations aren't born but souls join becuase of those kisses. :D
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Yes, the kisses have always been more important than the sex. In fact, everything physical between them is more important than the sex. That's the way it has always been to me, anyway. And there's more to come!
Response from thegoodshipper (Reviewer)
I hope that's a promise. :) Can't wait for more!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you!
