Seventh-year student Hermione Granger decides to marry the one eligible wizard who did not ask for her--the horrid but powerful Severus Snape. All is not sweetness and light. Be careful what you ask for. Or, as has been said by many a wise witch, "Marry in haste; repent in leisure." MLC

http://community.livejournal.com/sshg_awards/33422.html
Care of Magical Creatures recently received two awards on "Secrets of the Dark Vaults," a Russian fanfic site. Best NC-17 and Best Maxi Translation. The Nine-Year Plan was awarded Best Mini-Fic! I'm delighted to be in translation and to please the readers in Russia!

With the completion of Care of Magical Creatures my fanfic output is going to slow way down, but if you want to be sure to know when new fics post, please follow me on twitter. I don't tweet much, but I'll surely tweet that kind of thing.
About Mia
I came to the world of Harry Potter relatively early, after first resisting it because it just seemed too trendy. But when the first book came out in paperback in the US I picked it up at the airport when I was about to catch a flight, and two chapters in knew I would be ordering the original from amazon.co.uk in hardcover as soon as I landed.
I came to fanfic late, waiting until after I'd read DH. That means I've been totally obsessed with the fanfic world of Harry Potter, and most specifically the SS/HG ship, since August of '07.
I'm helplessly and hopelessly hooked.
Reviews for Care of Magical Creatures
I love the twins. "Hermione, will you marry us?" hehhee
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I have aways adored the twins! They are my favorites and were horribly underused in the books, especially DH!

He has such a screwed up life. But then, we knew that already.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
He's lived that life for a long time alone.

It's a good thing he thought of that. Where did Albus hear about the "tea party?"
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Oh, you'll find out how Albus knew!

Sometimes Lucius sucks rotten eggs. Okay, most times. Poor Hermione, she really doesn't take the best care of herself.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I've never pictured Hermione as someone who did spend much time thinking about herself or taking care of herself.

Sweet angst. Thank you for not keeping them broken too long.

They need each other so.

Wow. Way to cool. He really was off his game that day.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
He was off his game. Some people have wondered why he and Albus weren't more aware, but I think that day was a frazzle for all involved.

That was a very well brewed potion. What did she do!?

I think we understand why he's the Master.

I hope they have figured somethings out.

ookaaay. How exactly does one season a "human" cauldron? I am so glad I am catching up, and don't have to wait!!!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Well, the answer is bound to be fun....

So, who was the test for. It's probably obvious, but it's after 11pm and I've been up since before 6am. I'll just read on and see if you tell me later, hmm?
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
time will tell...What a long day you've had!

oooo. that doesn't bode well! That negligee sounds hideous. Especially when you consider her actual color preferences.

Narcissa is not a nice person.

NVP! hehehehe.
I liked the insight on how Voldie gets and keeps his Death Eaters.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
It's creepy, isn't it?

That was vicious. I can't wait to hear more of Hooch's story.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Hooch is good at what she does, isn't she?

I like how she liked green independently. I also adored how happy she was to see the washing machine. Those white sheets must be horrible.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
It's the simple things in life, isn't it? And yes, she likes green. (So do I.)

Two, or three excellent sections. Why doesn't Severus shrink the bed if he thinks it is too big? Silly man. But I loved the snuggly kiss.
I didn't even think about how that stupid law would affect other people. I assume the Ravenclaws are Muggle-born, right?
Hooch practices wandless magic? Hmm, I guess holding a wand on a broom might wind up being problematic.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I think the Ravenclaws, Hufflepuffs and Gryffindors can all be any combination of blood heritage. The Slytherins are mostlly Purebloods; I think that's the only House where it would make a difference.
Response from elsolel (Reviewer)
In the Marriage Law fics, do Purebloods have to marry Muggle borns? Where do the half bloods fit in? Like Harry, and (now we know) Severus.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
The original MLC (Marriage Law Challenge) was prior to Half-Blood Prince and there was a general assumption that as Head of Slytherin, Snape must be a Pureblood. Thus the original challenge was that Purebloods would be required to marry Muggle-borns, and Lucius would want Hermione either for himself or for Draco, and that meant Trouble, thus Snape ended up stepping forward to take on the responsibility of protecting her.People have gone on to change it in many ways, but for the most part you have to go alternate universe and keep Snape a Pureblood for it to work. Although there's one right now (I forget where, I saw it but don't recall where) where it turns out Hermione is adopted and actually is the Pureblood and marries Snape (the Halfblood) because of the Marriage Law. LOL! Obviously writers can do anything they want, but according to the challenge the reason for the Marriage Law was that A) so many people died during the war, the wizarding population has been decimated and the Ministry is going to extremes to make sure it happens by requiring weekly sex and, ultimately, babies, and B) Pureblood inbreeding has resulted in a large number of squibs and stillborns and it's an emergency situation to bring new bloodines into the old ones.

I wonder what they will be brewing. I liked the tingling finger tips.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
By now I know that you know what they brewed....And yes, the tingling fingertips, the magic!

I hate the Ministry! Icky people!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Well, there are many reasons to hate them in canon and fanon!

Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Well, she hexed him.(Wait, you knew that, right?)Thank you!
Response from elsolel (Reviewer)

You know what, following you through this fic is actually paying off for me big time, because I keep going back into the chapters to remind myself of what you just read and I keep seeing things that are important now in the part I'm writing and....Well, thank you. For whatever reason you just discovered my story, and for whatever reason you are being so wonderful about reviewing--I simply can't thank you enough!
Response from elsolel (Reviewer)
You mentioned that the newest chapter was up on the Potter Place Yahoo group. I realized that I had seen it mentioned before, but I never got around to reading it. Maybe I thought it was something I had already read, I don't know. I'm glad that my reviews are helping. I have decided that since I can't write stories to make people happy, I will write reviews to make authors happy and have them write more stories, and have me write more reviews. You know: a (un)vicious circle.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Well, as much as I know that I always appreciate (and respond to) reviews, and as much as I know all authors love them and feed off them, I can only tell you that an angel sat on your shoulder and pointed you in my direction because two plot issues have become clarified and energized in the past day because, by following you, I was reminded of things that now have an entirely new meaning/life in my story! I love it!
