An annoying event causes Hermione to choose to spend the Christmas break in seventh year away from her best friends, but Dumbledore feels she needs someone to watch over her. How will Hermione react to the appearance of the Potions master on her doorstep -- and how will they interact when cooped up alone together for days on end? This story was written for the SS/HG Winter Exchange on Live Journal, for the prompt: A weekend alone for Hermione in the Granger's residence. Suddenly the Potions master turns up on her door step. For whom the bell rings, it rings for you.

Did I mention yet how much I love Crookshanks? One of the things I miss most here in LA is my cat - Cleo usually sleeps next to my feet and she's maybe the most intelligent cat in the world ;-).
I love how their interactions turn friendlier here, how you make him show his caring side without making him un-Snape-like. And how Hermione realises it and is capable of appreciating it.
Oh, and I really enjoyed the part with the car-radio, Snape checking Hermiones reaction to be able to categorise what he hears... :-)
Ah, Albus, Albus, the old meddler...
I love the entry to this chapter, in fact I love the Hermione of this story, her very crafty hexes for one and the way she deals with things.
And as always, I enjoyed your descriptions, those little details that make me really see the scene.
Wow. Wonderful ending. Sorry I didn't write earlier when I first read the final two chapters but work got crazy and I couldn't get away. But I didn't want you to think I didn't like these two as much as the other seven, even though they did not have any evil cliffhangers this time (thank you). I think it was a good story and very well written. Just the right balance of angst and resolution. I loved that Hermione let Severus deal with Harry and Ron first. That was fun. I look forward to your next offering. Thanks again, JoAnne
This story was so sweet :) made me cry but had a good ending. Thank you so much for writing and I hope you continue in the genre
*sigh* I am such a sap. I love happy endings. I read it during the exchange at LJ but I wanted to comment since you posted it here. As always my dear Subversa, this story was wonderful.
OH, you are so terrible! I don't want it to be over! Yes, and job well done in writing it in a week ( I would know, I followed it obsessivly). Greatly loved this story, especially the Fox and Rose children.
AwwwwwSo sweetLove a good ending. You did a wonderful job and I'm so pleased to see it wrapped nicely. My favourite moment in this chapter would be when Harry and Ron shows up. That was just brilliant. Really good work and lovely humour.Hugs Carmille.
Such a brilliant story, I loved it from beginning to end (much to the disgust of my house, which was dumped for the morning so I could get my fix) and such a lovely ending it was!I LOVED the scene with Harry and Ron, total genius and Severus at his very amusing best, it was great!I'm hoping you'll delight us sometime soon with a new story *sits up and begs* for we all love to come and worship at your altar! Once again, you rock, and thaks for the ride!
Wahoo! At last! And it was so lovely and sweet and passionate and man was he sexy!!Brilliant chapter, and I like the way you started the chapter, the same as the first time he arrived, that was really good, nice work Subversa!
ok..so i probably wouldn't have held out any longer... maybe not at all, for i am weak willed when it comes to Severus Snape! :D although.. i spose so is Hermione in this fic!! :DCongrats on a wicked fic that was totally worth the read! :D you're an excellent writer! here's to more fics from you!Pyro
That was wonderful! Very romantic, very sweet. I love how you portrayed Hermione in her grief. Pretty believable.
Well, Subversa, I have been away a long time from any form of Potterverse. This was my first story back, I remembered that I enjoyed what I had previously read that you had written. Thank you for the wonderful read. It was light and breezy with a realistic view on the interworkings of a relationship with two people from different generations. Keep up the great work! ~

A very cool story!
Beautiful as always, my dear! You have (again) created a wonderfully engaging tale without falling pray to clichéd or honey syrup soaked fluff bunnies, and your Snape and Hermione interact brilliantly with just the right amount of humor and snottiness; though chapter seven was incredibly cruel and heart wrenching, even after double checking a certine character status in chapter nine.
Wonderfull job Subversa! Becca
Sigh...Thank you SO MUCH for that image of a shirtless, shameless, sexy Severus answering the door with his fly half open. Guh. It was like Christmas came twice this year.
Excellent! And yummy hot lovemaking between our fave pair. Very well written!
Oh my god!!! *screams* What a ride... what a bloody fabtastic ride!!!! Well done!!! And wow, and yay, and "wheeeeeeee!!!!" Lol! Thank you!!!! Will you be writing a sequel of sorts... it's just I would have loved to have seen the Grangers reaction when they arrived home... if nothing else... especially if they could have arrived home early *major evil grin* But it is not so (not yet.... I will leave that to you.... *begs several plot bunnies to attack*)
Fantastic story! I look forward to your next.
*snickers* damnit, can't those two dunderheads ever understand that NO ONE can come between a girl and her True Luve?!? (You go, Sista!!) I swear, nobody does insolent better than an amused Severus Snape *yum, with chocolate coating* I suppose, if they are blessed with third young Snape, the name "Noel(le)" would be most appropriate to commemorate their favorite holiday of all time. Peace & hugs!
Nice Ending. Harry and Ron got what they deserved for sure.Hahaha I can just picture their faces! I'll have to save this story for my Christmas next year. Thanks for the warm endearing story.
I'm doing this here, because for some reason my home computer won't pick up OWL this weekend.? Anyway, I loved it.? Thank you very much for the story.?
Alas it has ended. I was quite pleased when Severus went to the back door almost dressed. Those two pushy fools deserved that shock. Besides it gave Severus a little bit of fun. At least it wasn't Hermione's parents!
Thanks for the story.
I love happy endings!
So much to enjoy this chappie, as usual! *L* Severus showing just the slightest hint of vulnerability in the beginning was so sweet. One would think after the welcome he received (after the shock wore off, that is) Severus wouldn't have to wonder about Hermione's intentions. Men!! *L*
Also enjoyed very much the reactions of Harry and Ron
And finally: “Yes, well, if wishes were Thestrals then beggars would ride,” Severus said condescendingly. I love that line!!
What a great way to end. I will probably revisit this story when I am in need of a good story and updates are low on my other reads. I will admit I am sad to see it end, but hope you will update your other postings soon, and maybe now you can start another story as well. You once told me I was greedy, well you have no idea, no rest for my favorite authors, I want more and I want it now, lol. Here's to you Subversa!!!
Yay! Christmas nookie!! I love Christmas nookie!! Hubby and I got married just before Christmas... it's the most wonderful time of the year!I thoroughly enjoyed this story... thanks so much for sharing it with us!Peace ~ j
