An annoying event causes Hermione to choose to spend the Christmas break in seventh year away from her best friends, but Dumbledore feels she needs someone to watch over her. How will Hermione react to the appearance of the Potions master on her doorstep -- and how will they interact when cooped up alone together for days on end? This story was written for the SS/HG Winter Exchange on Live Journal, for the prompt: A weekend alone for Hermione in the Granger's residence. Suddenly the Potions master turns up on her door step. For whom the bell rings, it rings for you.

Reviews for Send Not to Know
This lovely chapter had a bit of everything! From Harry's and Ron's ill handled visit to Severus' brewing of the Christmas Punch, there were a multitude of scenes that drew me in and made me sigh and smile and nod my head... I wanted them to kiss so badly that I think my eyes crossed.
Well done, Subversa!

Ugh, you set such a lovely picture and then blast it into oblivion at the end! I know he had to be cold to her, but how heartbreaking.
Quite the situation he's gotten himself into! It was great that Hermione told the boys off. Ron especially was his usual senseless self. And of course, Snape plays the yo-yo. One minute enjoying her closeness, the next, repelling her away as fast as he can.

This may be my favorite chapter of this story. He really is struggling to do the right thing, but she is going all out, no holds barred, which makes it very difficult for him.
Brilliantly written! I loved the dynamic between Hermione and Professor Snape at the beginning of his "sleep over" and the next morning when Hermione woke with a migraine. Here he is thoughtful and caring when he realizes how dreadful Hermione feels. I just wanted to hug him for being such a solicitous man.*hugs Severus and Hermione* and *hugs Subversa, too*Grate story!!!!Beth

He managed to be perfectly decent to her, which no doubt surprised her completely. Who knew there was a human beneath all that snark? Thanks, honey!

Grate story... *head desk* I swear, the older I get the worse my spelling gets... that or my fingers "know" longer know where the keys are... Of course, it's a GREAT story!
Also reading this for SubClub. I'm pretty sure it's not my first time. :) Ron definitely deserved what he got. Go Hermione!

I was kind of mean to Ron, and it was my first time. I was a virgin Ron-basher in this story!
I'm reading for the Sub Club and this story is still one of my all time favorites. Ron's a prat, and Harry isn't much help, but with Professor Snape's presence to make Hermione's holiday wishes come true, what could possible go wrong? I can't wait to see Hermione's face when she answers her front door and sees her knight in black-robes-as-armor come to keep her company.Right now I think Dumbledore is the only one looking forward to Sir Severus arriving at the Granger home. *I iz grinning* Beth

I'll never forget beginning this story after I finished His Draught of Delicate Poison. It was my first SSHG Exchange, my first time to write to a prompt, and I had NO idea how to do it. When I got to 10,000 words and wasn't anywhere near DONE, I realized this was NOT going to be a one-shot, LOL!~hugs~
I am rereading this for SubClub! I don't know who is the biggest git in this chapter: Ron, Severus, or Dumbledore...

Ron. I vote for RON!And this was written pre-DH, when I still believed in a slightly fluffy Dumbledore ...Thanks for reading!
It's nice that she's seeing a little different side of him.

It's hard not to like him a little when he's not being an utter git.
A lovely story!! Congratulations =]
Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful, I love the way this ends it is truly beautiful.
Beautiful and worth the wait.
OMG, I am so glad I don't have to wait for the next chapter.
Fantastic chapter. I love this slow seduction they have going, very sexy.
It was good of Snape to take such wonderful care of her. It's nice to see another side of him.
Ron is such a twit sometimes, but I still love him.
Professor Snape should be an interesting Christmas companion.
Can't wait to see how this plays out.
The Deatheaters have the worst timing. Things are finally heading in the right direction, but they keep getting interrupted. I hope they get to be together soon.
Oooh, they are so good together. Perfect chapter, my favorite so far.
It looks like they are getting along very well, much better than I thought they would.
I have read this several times already, yet I don't know if I ever reviewed it (and I am too lazy to check), so please forgive me if I repeat myself: I LOVE IT!!! Just like all of your stories, it is a marvellous emotional roller coaster ride and the characters have to do some work for their happy ending (there's only so much pink candy floss a big girl can take...).
*sigh*
I want you to know that this is officially my Christmas fic. I have read it every christmas since you posted it... and various times in between, of course.
Have a Merry and a Happy!!
GG
This is gorgeous. Everyone was so believable. I liked how Harry would take hints from Hermione about backing off, but Ron was totally oblivious. Did the "etching" scar? That would be funny.
Amazing.
Wow. what a way to bring it full circle.
Idyll smashed! ARGH. Thank goodness for finished stories!
He is seriously going to beat himself up over this, isn't he?
