Reviews for The Polyjuiced Soul
Love the story so far. I'm probably missing something but how did they end up in the proper clothes? I thought when they polyjuiced they would still have their own clothes on?
Response from neelix (Author of The Polyjuiced Soul)
You did miss something. The part where Hermione casts the spell that switches their clothing...
Response from Severus00 (Reviewer)
Thank you! I can't wait to read the rest.
I so like this story. Severus & Hermione would be so good together if they would just get over the past. I hope that Hermione helps him get some of his self esteem back and live a little.
Response from neelix (Author of The Polyjuiced Soul)
Bless you - I think that will happen too.
Oh poor Severus, I hope Hermione manages to impart some much needed self esteem into him as well as some friendship --and sex-- 😃
Response from neelix (Author of The Polyjuiced Soul)
lol... maybe... who knows?? maybe he'll shag Minerva instead?
Oh no, poor Severus! Maybe I didn't get it right but should he not experience Hermione's feelings and thus be a little more optimistic? I really like your story and I think your characters are very plausible, thank you!
Response from neelix (Author of The Polyjuiced Soul)
At the moment they're just testing the Polyjuice and not the personality spells. Thanks for reading x
It has to be pretty disheartening to, quite literally, see yourself through another person's eyes and find the sight decidedly less than attractive. So will he attempt to alter his self-perceived "flaws" or does he think he's past even magical help?
Eye of the beholder and all that. I have to wonder how long it'll take Severus to realize that it's not his looks that have been holding him back romantically.
Surprise! Severus Snape has a sense of humor. {and is no cissie}
we knew that.
I like the way she healed his hand, after the stinging hex, I would hate to see anything happen to those lovely hands*sigh*, sorry, just having a fangirl moment.
Looking forward to the next up date.
Response from neelix (Author of The Polyjuiced Soul)
lol... I fangirl all the time when I'm writing about Severus, believe me!
Ketchup is for cissies. Best line ever! Like this. Keep it coming.

Thank you :) Hope you enjoy the update x
I love this story! Hermione is a gentle person who had to do horrible things and is damaged by it. Snape is not a gentle person at all, and has not yet realized his hyper-vigilance isn't quite as necessary today as in the past. I am truly looking forward to their romance. I'm also curious about the potion. It's a clever idea, and both Hermione's reasons for developing it and Snape's response to it have good points. Snape is right-in the wrong hands it could be devestating. Snape was also right about Minerva's response to Hermione, and it was interesting to see Minerva acknowledge him and correct herself so quickly. I'd like to see more of her in this story, if its ok to make a request. Thank you for such an intelligent tale!

Thank you so much for taking the time to review x
I'd touch him! I'd touch him so he would never forget!!
Can you imagine HOW damaged they would ALL be? The aftermath would have been horrible!
Why, exactly, does he have to wear her underwear? If he is polyjuiced as her, he can wear whatever he wants to wear, can't he?
Response from neelix (Author of The Polyjuiced Soul)
I just posted the update so I hope this answers your question?
When you hear Hermione's reasons for thinking this project is a good idea, it seems very reasonable and important. But when you look from Severus' point of view, you can quickly see why he is concerned. She had the forethought to give an exclusive contract to the Aurors which was a good thought, but there is still no guarantee that they are always the "good guys." I will be interested to see if they proceed with caution, or not at all. And, if Severus and Hermione have turned a corner in their relationship with this meeting.
Response from neelix (Author of The Polyjuiced Soul)
I think Hermione is a bit blinkered and Severus will give her balance, hopefully.
I don't blame Severus for worrying, there are so many questions, how much of the personality of the "donor" is active in the person taking the polyjuice. Hermione was impersonating Bellatrix for Gods sake, what would have happened if that personality had taken over.
Hermione is just now realizing that she is not the only one damaged by the war, where has she been living under a rock, or has she been so caught up in her own pain that she just didn't notice?
I love your storys, they always raise so many questions.
Response from neelix (Author of The Polyjuiced Soul)
You've hit the nail on the head there. She has been too focussed on herself. But th hen we can forgive that. Throughout the war she was focussed on Harry beating Voldemort.
No scrap of evil intent in Hermione’s body, eh? This is the girl who, before she reached twenty, had kidnapped and blackmailed a reporter, cursed a fellow-student’s face with permanent disfigurement, turned a woman over to be abused by centaurs and afterwards mocked her trauma, and unilaterally tampered with her own parents’ minds and identities. Of course she did it for good reasons and noble principles. People never do evil so joyously as when they do it for the sake of good reasons and noble principles. I like Hermione, but of all the heroes of the Potterverse, she’s the most likely to become the next Dark Lord--all for the sake of the Greater Good, of course. No wonder Severus doesn’t want to help her with her dangerous project; he knows better than anyone how deadly the Greater Good is.
P.S. Hermione didn’t realized until NOW that Severus was damaged by the war? She is, without a doubt, the Stupidest Witch of Her Age!
Response from neelix (Author of The Polyjuiced Soul)
I'm guessing you won't like my version of Hermione in the, story then. Maybe try something else?
Response from Very Small Prophet (Reviewer)
Hermione has her dark side like everyone else. Her genuine abilities combined with her conviction that good intentions are the same thing as good deeds makes her very, very dangerous. I hope that, in this story, Severus will knock some of that naïve idealism out of her and help her develop a more mature and nuanced morality. The fact that this never happens in canon is Hermione’s main weakness as a character.
Response from neelix (Author of The Polyjuiced Soul)
I have a feeing you may end up disappointed. that you're still reading makes me think that perhaps Hermione's character hasn't totally put you off. however, the story is complete, as in it's all written and I won't be changing anything. And Hermione remains Hermione I think :/
Response from Very Small Prophet (Reviewer)
Do you really think Hermione, unlike every other human on the face of the earth, has no dark side? If so, I will be disappointed, because any character who is 100% good is boring as all get-out.
Response from neelix (Author of The Polyjuiced Soul)
Actually - no. I dont think that at all. But we're discussing THIS story. Not what I think. If you read any of my other stories - and there are quite a few here - I think you will find various different versions of Hermione. If you think you will be disappointed then please do me a favour. Stop reading the story and find a version of Hermione you do like.
Mmmm... excellent point. I can only imagine the sheer mayhem that would be created by Death Eaters or other terrorists possessing Hermione's improved Polyjuice. It would be a huge boon to magical law enforcement but it could also be an enormously destructive tool in the wrong hands.I think Hermione, like many Gryffindors... Hell, like many other people, period, tends to fixate on the potential benefits of her work and that narrow focus doesn't let her really see the many ways that her work could be perverted for another's malicious ends. That's where the Slytherin take on the big picture proves to be incredibly valuable.
Response from neelix (Author of The Polyjuiced Soul)
Exactly that. I think they are Yin and Tang -and they should fit together perfectly.
I'm not sure I understand what you mean by the "wrong hands" when it seems like the propensity for abuse is extremely high even in the "right hands."
Polyjuice is only about deception which by its nature is abusive of someone's trust. This product would not have helped Barty Crouch since he wasn't discovered due to his inability to be a convincing Moody. No one suspected him even with the evidence that someone was brewing polyjuice and he was seen routinely drinking out of a flask. But I can see it being very abused by people who want to mimic someone else's spouse. You would only need something like this if you have to fool someone who is close to and knowledgeable of the person you are mimicking -- like a family member.
Also, the side effects could be unexpectedly gruesome. What if some of their personality lingered on even after the change back? Would Hermione trade for a better impersonation attempt if it meant she would have some of Bellatrix's mad hatter tendencies for the rest of her life? A person may change back and forth on the physical level, the cellular level or even the DNA level like flipping a switch -- you are either person A or person B. But personality resides in the soul which is immaterial and not subdivided into parts. How can you clean back out what you put in when it contains no distinct parts, only a single whole? It would be like picking up a new habit or, in the case of Bellatrix, psychopathy.
I understand Hermione is extrapolating from the material world to the immaterial world, thinking that they work the same. However, they are fundamentally different by nature. You'd kind of think after dealing with the horcrux, Hermione would not want to mess around with souls.
An outstanding story as usual. I look forward to seeing where you take it.
Response from neelix (Author of The Polyjuiced Soul)
I think that is the problem exactly. There are so many unknowns, so many risks with this project. I think it's going to take quite a bit of soul searching on Hermione's part by the end of it, don't you?
I am relieved that Severus has a friend in
Response from neelix (Author of The Polyjuiced Soul)
who understands him. Thank you!

has know Severus since he was 11 years old. He's still that young person to her i think and she's quite protective of him.
Severus always did have a rather distorted view of Gryffindors in general and those in the sphere of a Potter in particular. Somewhat understandable given his past experiences, but still rather immature for such an otherwise intelligent wizard. Perhaps Hermione will prove up to the task of teaching him to open his eyes and his mind to the differences between assumption and reality. That is, if Severus proves himself to be not quite as big a dunderhead as most of the others she now finds herself teaching.
Response from neelix (Author of The Polyjuiced Soul)
Lol. I think in this case Severus is just bored. And let's face it, Hermione is an eay target. Hope you enjoy the way it pans out anyway x
Oh! This is going to be so much fun! I can't wait for the next chapter!
