What is the greatest sacrifice one can give? This tale begins in Severus' sixth year at Hogwarts, during the surge of new young followers of the Dark Lord; Nagini Malfoy, the main female character, is actually a precursor to Nagini, Voldemort's serpent. Alternate Universe: Lucius, Lestrange, Mulciber, Crabbe, Goyle, Rodoplus and Bellatrix are younger – in their seventh year; Narcissa and Nagini in their sixth. Disclaimer: I don't own anything - the wonderful J. K. Rowling owns everything.

Love your description of Xenophilus. :)
Response from nagandsev (Author of A Nagini and Severus Tale)
Hehe! - he just strikes me as some mix of new-age/metal/hippie/glam man... in a *good* way, of course! Thank you!
I can see foreshadowing of things to come for Nagini. And how Severus put away his emotions and became the man he did. :)
Response from nagandsev (Author of A Nagini and Severus Tale)
Oh,
Response from nagandsev (Author of A Nagini and Severus Tale)
, thank you! It took me a long wordy path to get to all the foreshadowing, and especially to set up some turning points for young Severus. Thank you for noting this - glad its coming across. Poor Sev... what a life he must have led, and all those emotions inside him *sigh* - (thank Merlin for fanfic :-) Thanks, again!
Out of the frying pan into the fire, so to speak! :0
Response from nagandsev (Author of A Nagini and Severus Tale)
Yes, exactly... thank you for the feedback! And thank you for taking the time to review each chapter - I know they're not the most *feel good* kind & I really appreciate you affirming that things are coming across as intended! Thanks, again!
Poor girl, enemies at every turn. :0
Response from nagandsev (Author of A Nagini and Severus Tale)
Yes, she's getting to know the family's inner circle - thanks for affirming that they're coming across as intended! Thank you so much for reading on & the review!
Maybe Lucius and Nagini will reach somewhat of an understanding, but from wht happened in the first chapter, it seems unlikely! :)
Response from nagandsev (Author of A Nagini and Severus Tale)
Lucius will be confronted with situations he's never had to deal with before, feelings he's never been aware of - but, yes, the first chapter has predicted the easier of the choices & expected paths for him to take... sometimes that's worse, when he's fully aware of what he's choosing rather than having been ignorant of it beforehand -anyways, I'm blabbering - thank you so much for reading & the review!
Lucius was almost finding a little empathy with Nagini, but I bet his father will soon cure him of that. :)
Response from nagandsev (Author of A Nagini and Severus Tale)
Yes, Lulu was almost thinking & feeling for himself - and yes, his lovely father surely will put him back on the path straight and narrow
Response from nagandsev (Author of A Nagini and Severus Tale)
, thank you for the read & review!
Those Slytherins are a nasty bunch of snakes. Someone needs to call the exterminator! :)
Response from nagandsev (Author of A Nagini and Severus Tale)
'Someone needs to call the exterminator!' - HA! Love it! Maybe in a crack-fic drabble- let's put it on the list!! Thank you for continuing to read and the insightful review! Really appreciate it!
But what did the Durmstrang student do to her first? :)
Response from nagandsev (Author of A Nagini and Severus Tale)
More of the Durmstrang student & incident a bit later on - yes, he initiated it - details to come!:-)
Nagini is a wonderfully independent thinker. Pity Slytherin house of those years didn't have more of them. I like the way you've portrayed Severus as somewhat detached from the other Slytherins. :)
Response from nagandsev (Author of A Nagini and Severus Tale)
Oh,

! Thank you so much for the read & lovely review! Thank you for confirming that Severus is coming across as intended:-) Again, really appreciate the feedback!
Poor Nagini. What malign twist of fate left her in Abraxas's hands? :0
Response from nagandsev (Author of A Nagini and Severus Tale)
Thank you so much for reading & the review! More of the back story and how she came to be in his 'care' in future chapters - thanks for feedback!
Thank you for writing this story. I’m enjoying it very much. I’m looking forward to future chapters.

, thank you so much for reading and reviewing! So glad that you're enjoying it and really appreciate your feedback! Thank you, again!
thank you for writing such a interesting story
Response from nagandsev (Author of A Nagini and Severus Tale)
Again - thank you for the encouragement!
I like the relationship you've drawn between Snape and Regulus. Regulus is very much the privileged pureblood son, arrogant and insecure at turns. His questions about what to expect at his initiation were very touching. I imagine he doesn't show that sort of vulnerability to just anyone. It's also nice to see that while his father is merciless, Lucius at least has some gentleness in him.I have to wonder what the dinner party holds in store. :)
Response from nagandsev (Author of A Nagini and Severus Tale)
Diabolica, thank you so much for reading and the review -- glad that Severus and Regulus' relationship is coming across - I always felt that they must have known each other in some capacity, and wanted to explore that; yes, I agree, Regulus wouldn't show that sort of vulnerability to just anyone. Yes, I also wanted to explore Lucius having some other levels to him before he became so extreme/hardened as we know (and enjoy) him to be later on; there had to be times/things that were't always so black and white - some things, maybe. Again, thank you for the specific feedback - really appreciate it!
Yet more stunning revelations in this chapter. I have to wonder how Nagini's many abilities will come in handy down the road. And poor, smitten Severus. In a way, it's nice to see him crushing on someone other than Lily, but I have a feeling this won't end well ...
Response from nagandsev (Author of A Nagini and Severus Tale)
Thank you so much for reading and the review! Thanks for all of the feedback, particularly regarding Severus; as far as we all know, after that fateful name-calling day, he never received further 'affection' from Lily on any level; but, he is a young man - wanted to explore him being human with human needs a bit... whether they be unwonted/unwelcomed and undeniable, to have to deal with them and the source. Again, thank you!
Oh my. It seems the entire wizarding world--or perhaps just the male half of it--is allied against Nagini. That she has been accused and convicted of killing someone came as quite a shock. I hesitate to imagine where things will go from here.
Response from nagandsev (Author of A Nagini and Severus Tale)
Oh,
Response from nagandsev (Author of A Nagini and Severus Tale)
! Thank you for reading and the review! Not everyone is allied against her, but she'll have to deal with all the pre-judgements/prejudice projected about her; very soon, a certain tall black-haired Slytherin as well as a blonde, female one, will be revealed helping her, along with a few other odd, unexpected wizards. The true nature of events, regarding Durmstrang and before, will be disclosed. Again, thank you for the feedback; I really appreciate it!
Ah, so now some of my questions are being answered. But information is so carefully parcelled out in this chapter. This is a very unusual portrait of Snape; one doesn't often get to see him as a defender of young women. It makes sense, though, for him to not only notice the signs of abuse but to want to make it better. His inability to challenge the Malfoys makes for good story-telling conflict.
Response from nagandsev (Author of A Nagini and Severus Tale)
Thank you so much for the review! More answers to the former questions in the future chapters. Thank you so much for your specific feedback; glad that some of Severus' predicament/situation regarding his relationship with the Malfoys is coming across on some level. Thank you!
What an intriguing scenario you've created. Nagini has certainly been dropped into a nest of snakes, hasn't she?So many questions occur to me: Who are Nagini's parents? How did she come to Hogwarts so late, and what happened with her initial sorting? Why is Lucius so horribly resentful of her? It all adds very much to the suspense of the atmosphere you've created. I look forward to finding out more.
Response from nagandsev (Author of A Nagini and Severus Tale)
Thank you so very much for reading and leaving a review! All of your questions will be answered in the future chapters; of course, you've pinpointed many of the major turn of events/sub-plots in the story line:) - please be patient, need to get a bit more exposition expressed and then things can move a bit faster. Again, thank you!
Nice start. I was confused in the beginning. Isn't Nagini Voldemort's snake? That can't bode well for Lucius' cousin....
Response from nagandsev (Author of A Nagini and Severus Tale)
Thank you for the review! Yes, this Nagini is meant as a precursor to Voldemort's snake... and Voldemort and her paths will cross a bit later on... Thanks again! nagandsev
What a complicated web you've woven! It appears that Nagini and Lucius have solidified their uneasy truce, but how long can this last? I'm curious to know what happens next. :)
Response from nagandsev (Author of A Nagini and Severus Tale)
Thank you for continuing to read & the review! -- some things will start to simplify soon, others a bit later on; Nagini and Lucius will have several choices to make, influenced by various factors, that will challenge their fragile truce. Again, thank you so much for the feedback & support!
I could see them forming a relationship, but I believe Severus is better suited for her. This was a wonderful chapter, and you did an amazing job on it.

Response from nagandsev (Author of A Nagini and Severus Tale)
, thank you so much for reading and leaving a review; yes, Severus will definitely be there for her - just needed to express a little bit more background info, before they can interact more. Again, I really appreciate your feedback - thanks!
great story, what an awful person Abrahax is hopefully he will die soon. Lucius will not allways be nice, that is for sure, but at least for some hours Nagini was not tormented. Looking forward to follow this and se how she and Severus will interact
Response from nagandsev (Author of A Nagini and Severus Tale)
Oh Gurlimargrethe, thank you so much for reading and leaving a review! I really appreciate the feedback and glad the characterisations are coming across. Severus and Nagini will soon be interacting - again, thank you!
A chapter of contrasts.
Trapped Narcissa versus the detached and competent Narcissa of previous chapters. The expected joy of her wedding compared to her actual emotional state. What happened to her? Are we to take Narcissa as foreshadowing the hollowing out of all joy in life?
Xenophilius and Pandora able to celebrate while Severus and Nagini cannot. The different views of the forest by our couple. Severus and Nagini compared to that of Rodophus and Nagini. Their time together versus their interaction with the Malfoys. The hopes and wishes of our couple versus the demands of family and society.
Response from nagandsev (Author of A Nagini and Severus Tale)
Thank you so much for continuing to read this and give feedback about it--truly, deeply appreciate you reading this (had wished to finish the tale by now, but real life has not cooperated...)! Yes, major shifts and turning points for the characters, events which have just occurred and/or will occur in the next chapter (in more detail) and continue to (re)direct their lives. More specifics to come on events that led to Narcissa's latest state of being and awareness/feeling of her future in the plan of things to come, as well as, perhaps, jolting changes to Severus and Nagini's state of being, leading gradually to each one's fates--again, thank you for the feedback, letting me know what is coming across on some levels, can't thank you enough!
Complex relationships illustrated in a straightforward manner. Power and social position triumph over romance. Sinister plots that sacrifice people. Lucius more interstingly evil than a mere torturer. A cliff hanger. Good chapter.
Response from nagandsev (Author of A Nagini and Severus Tale)
Thank you for continuing to read and for the review,
Response from nagandsev (Author of A Nagini and Severus Tale)
, truly appreciate it! People and their actions will, perhaps, continue to be more straightforward; Lucius does seem to have an element of being evil out of necessity or perhaps his own esoteric sense of amusement *wicked cackling* Thanks again!
Intense romance... wished it could last forever! I am so glad that Nagini could recollect everything. And so worried about what might lie ahead, since the Polyjuice is most certainly being used for notorious purposes. I hope it doesn't confuse Severus though... Well, it won't, he is too smart to fall for that! PS I should seriously start taking cliffhanger-writing lessons from you, girl! Honestly I'm amazed at how perfectly you do that every time!
Response from nagandsev (Author of A Nagini and Severus Tale)
Thank you for the encouraging feedback, and what came across--your instincts about the Polyjuice are spot on; so happy that you are enjoying this tale--truly, deeply appreciate it!
I like how Severus has convinced himself that he can serve Lord Voldemort and be romantically involved with Lily at the same time. He’s completely delusional, but these are the lies we tell ourselves in order to live with our choices. Might I say that Regulus is a thoughtful gift-giver, and I hope that his friendship with Severus is a positive thing for the both of them. Your plot is building nicely, and there’s a pervasive sense of dread lingering over Nagini and her future, both immediate and in the long term. Looking forward to reading more!
Response from nagandsev (Author of A Nagini and Severus Tale)
Thank you for your review! Yes, absolutely agree with Severus being delusional, along with the others, maybe being too confident, young and unaware of the sacrifice and costs to themselves, personally, that evil will demand of them. I felt Severus and Regulus must have known each other and been involved in each other's lives somehow; so close in age, and Reg being one of the youngest DE's (maybe Barty Jr, also?). Thanks, again!
