Reviews for Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH)
Surely (or, Hermione Granger and the Epilogue? What Epilogue?) would be more in line with your previous titles? Anyway, hope you win Best Epic over at the SSHG awards.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
You don't think I could make it epilogue compliant??*evil smirkThanks for the lovely review and for the good wishes!
Response from Grizelda (Reviewer)
Well you could.... but I really hope you don't! That *cough* wasn't exactly my favourite part of DH. I'm still trying to get my head around Hermione being in a happy, loving marriage with a man willing to cheat on his driving test when road accidents are one of the main causes of death. Unless of course there's some amazing, magical remedy for having your head smashed in by a truck...Sorry about the rant!
MMMWWWAAHAHAHA!!! You crazy mama!! I loved your story!!! YAY -- a sequel!! *hugs'n'smooches*
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
THANKS! :)*smiles happily.
Eeeee! That's the noise I made when I saw that there would be a sequel. The farther into the chapter I got, the more confused I got as I didn't see any resolution (or fluff) coming. I got to the end and before I even read the A/N, I knew that the story isn't over. Thank you SO much for continuing this. It will be so exciting because we have no way of knowing what will happen. You're venturing out on your own and I plan to accompany you the whole way!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much! I'm really glad to see that you approve! I tried hard to balance the chapter all the way through so that there was some (small) sense of resolution, and yet things would seem unfinished!! :)Thanks again for the review, and hopefully it won't be too long before I'm back.
it really is the mother of all cliffies!! EVIL!! i hope you start the third installment very soon. :(
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Ah, well. If it were too finished and polished, no-one would be excited about the sequel! :)Thanks for the review, and hopefully I'll see you again very soon.
Brilliant finish. Leaves the way open for another instalment nicely. :)
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much! Because, you know, I wasn't really ready to be done just yet!! :)
Happy Dance TRILOGY Happy Dance!!! I love that he can see the possibilities for his happiness. And now once again he has to fix things that Harry has buggered up. I think that Harry might listen a bit better this time around.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
The poor man spends his whole life fixing things that Harry has buggered up, doesn't he! :)I'm just blown away that you're so excited about the trilogy! Thanks for such a lovely, enthusiastic review!!
Oh, you wonderful woman!!!
I started reading this, thinking "gotta make it last, it's the end," and was very aware of scrolling down to the bottom with the same trepidation with which Snape watches Granger. Leaving any minute, about to go, just this little time left....
And now you come up with an EXQUISITE premise for an entirely new book, one that will allow them time together to come to know one another in peacetime, yet with a very important task left to accomplish.
Did I call you brilliant before? I had no idea! Exquisitely done, my dear. I raise my glass in astonished delight!!!
Oh, and yes, I have voted, with great pleasure!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
*grinsThank you very, very much! I'm glad that you like it. :) I feel so well-disposed towards JKR that she finished her series with such a huge, gaping hole! It makes it so much easier for me. :)Thanks again--for this and for all of your other comments.
Oh, I couldn't be more pleased! I'm finding it hard to actually comment on the chapter because I am so stoked about the A/N. I hope we didn't bully you into writing something you are getting tired of. It has just been so good and I feel there is so much more to be said and explored. Am I hopeful for a relationship between our favorite couple? You bet! Will I be disappointed if that doesn't happen? Yes. Oh, I mean no, as long as this third part is as fantastic as the first two ;)I really like the concept of him having friends. Realistic friends, not just whatever friends of Hermione decide that they can tolerate him. I can see where there could be a close bond amongst Poppy, Minerva, Hooch, and Snape. I am also pleased with how the reunion between Minerva and Severus went. It could have been ugly and awkward, but if they are really "firm friends", it happened just the way it should have.So much looking forward to more. If we have to wait awhile, well, sometimes anticipation of something makes it better when it finally happens (or so I keep telling myself). What I should say is, I am willing to wait however long it takes in order for it to be perfect. What I am really saying is, get moving on the next part NOW!Thanks for sharing such a wonderful set of stories and best of luck with the SS/HG awards!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
You definitely didn't bully me into it--to be completely honest, I have planned for it to be a trilogy from the start, but didn't want to make such a committment when A) I'd never written fiction before I started and B) didn't know whether anyone else would have been interested. And then it just seemed better to keep it up my sleeve to add tension to the story as a whole. :)I also really like the idea of Severus with friends (well, obviously!!). But I think it's unhealthy for people to have no friends at all. Plus, adults tend to deal with edgy sarcasm far better than children do. Just because he's horrible to Harry and cynical all the time doesn't mean that people wouldn't like him! I'll get writing as soon as I have a stretch of otherwise-unacounted-for time, I promise. Thanks for this review and for all of your others! Hopefully I'll see you again very soon.
Hurray! Congratulations. I hope you are serious about a trilogy. I am there!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Oh, I'm definitely serious! :) I'm glad that you're excited, and thank you very much for the review.
ive been without internet for too long!! D:the exchange between the two seemed almost intimate. im sure you planned it that way, however. just thought id state the obvious lolhow did her scar manage to heal further? guess ill have to continue reading to find that out, eh?
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much! I wanted it to be intimate, without being typical of the "end of the book"ness. :) I'm really glad that you liked it. Eventually you should find out about more about the scar. Thanks again for the review!
Brilliant story, brilliant previous story!! Can't wait for the next chapter and please please write a sequel!!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much! The last chapter is now up; I hope that you enjoy it. :)
I hardly leave reviews but I usually read them. I must agree with the others here, this storyline begs for a sequel trilogy.
There is no way that I can see this story come to a full close with only one more chapter, unless you do the same mistake that Rowling did with her "many years later" ending and just rush through the good stuff. The Snape/Hermione angle has yet to be pushed onto the greater wizarding world. Would there be dating, nuptuals, or just an apparent magical bond between these two that is stronger than any wedding vow?How will Harry and Ron take it, once they find out about this?I look forward to a happy ending of a familial life between our two favorite characters, but I'd like to see it fully fleshed out and given the attention that it deserves.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much for leaving a review--as an author I really, really appreciate it! :)The last chapter is now up, and I think that it answers a number of your questions (perhaps not all of them), so I won't answer them here, but I will encourage you to go and read it! :) I hope that you enjoy it and I hope that you let me know what you think once you've read it!Thanks again for the review.
Great chapter. But only one more to go? I don't know whether i'm excited or sad? I do hope they manage to realise that they need to be together.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you. The last chapter is now up, so I'll wait to comment on the contents until you've read it! ;p
Penultimate chapter! I thought there would at least be two more! Will there be a Hermione Granger and the DH Epilogue? LOL.
To be honest with you, I'd never thought about that aspect of Dumbledore's scheme before. You've outlined it quite well and made an interesting case. I'm no fan of Dumbly, and I can totally see this as a possibility.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Hmmm. You'll just have to read the last chapter (which is now up) and tell me what you think of that! :)I really think that the analysis that Ron offered here is the only one that makes complete sense of what happened in the book; nothing else fits. It might not be exactly what JKR intended, but I think it's what she actually wrote. Thanks for the review; I hope you like the ending!
Response from debjunk (Reviewer)
Given all that happened in JKR's version, I'd have to agree with you! I am excited and a bit sad to see the end up. I will get to it soon! Thanks.
Beautiful. Excellent. I can't wait for the next chapter.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you! The last chapter is now up . . . just sayin' ;p
Oh man, this was sooo good after all the pain and sadness and happiness and excitement. So glad Severus has survived!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much! These two needed a moment alone, methinks. :) Thanks, again!
I loved the chapter and so look forward to the end. I hope Severus has many years of happiness to make up for all he has been through.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much! The last chapter is now up; go read! :)
I am torn between wanting to know how things end and not wanting things to end! This was yet another in a long line of great chapters--Ron's blow-by-blow account of Dumbledore's Plan (complete with visual aids), the plotting to clear Severus' name with Rita Skeeter's help, and what was one of my favorite bits, Hooch giving ol' Sev a dressing down as soon as she saw him lounging about Spinners End. I love your portrayal of Hooch, she's just hilarious! “Listen here, you bastard,” retorted Hooch, “next time you fake your own death, don’t expect me to go looking for the body!” Wait until Severus finds out that she pulled a wand on a student because she was so upset at his "death" and disappearance... Hermione's got a point about everyone sitting their NEWTS--yeah, she's almost always portrayed this way in the fan stories, but the rationale you give her saying how notoriously fickle the Ministry and the public can be is irrefutable. Harry at least should remember how the opinion of the other students was constantly see-sawing back and forth about him every year. As we Muggles like to say, "cover your butt"!Speaking of the public, I know we adoring fans managed to wheedle a second story out of you in order to get this--could we perhaps prevail upon you for a third? Pretty please? With Snape on top?
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very, very much!I thought having Ron explain Dumbledore's plan would be much more effective than having Hermione tell both (vague) boys in a cliched lecture; this way Harry really had to get it. :) Plus it makes the most of Ron's tactical brilliance! And Hooch--she's a Hufflepuff, and they're rather fiercely loyal. :)I'm really glad that you liked the chapter so much. I do hope that you like the final chapter--which is now up!
Oh yay! He's alive!!! So glad to see an update! I can't wait for the end...will Hermione still end up with Ron...hmm...I wonder...can't wait!! :)
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Hmm, you'll have to wait and see on that one!! :)Thanks for the lovely review--though I'm not really surprised that people are glad he survived!
i keep running out of superlatives for your story weaving skills. beautifully done. thanks and mucho smoochies
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very, very much! :) I'm glad you approved.
Congrats on a wonderful double story, definitely worth recognition from SS/HG!This was so expertly done. I loved how you took advantage of canon's holes and added all this richness. Carry on. Can't wait to see what happens now that we're almost to the end of the war.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much--on both counts. :)There were some useful holes in this particular chapter, wouldn't you say? *winks
im very happy for you that both of your stories have been nominated. :D and im sure ive said this before, and im absolutely positive that im not the only one whos said it, but, i absolutely love this story and i cannot wait for the next installment. :P
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very, very much--on both counts! I was just thrilled to be nominated, for one thing, and the next chapter is in the queue, for the other! Thanks again.
Really glad Severus is alive.. although I wasn't too worried about it since the anti-venom made an early appearance in this story. I love that your Severus feels - he's just nasty on the outside. Very canon actually, but Severus seems just a little less nasty than canon here (whether the effect of the Harry-filter and Hermione's POV I don't know). Can't wait to see what happens in Spinner's End etc. etc.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Well, the poison isn't likely to kill him!! :) *evil grin*I tend to assume that Harry is the person that Snape is nastiest to--the Slytherins always seemed to treat him as if they expected him to be nice, after all. So, once the Harry-filter is gone, one should expect him to be not quite so nasty. I do think he can still be nasty--particularly when he's upset. I hope you enjoy the rest of the story! Thanks for the review.
Hooray, he's alive and all I have to say about this chapter is--KICK! ASS! I don't think I've ever used that phrase in a review before, actually... Normally I like to say more thoughtful things, such as "Well done regarding Hermione's ability to bring Severus back from the brink while the boys were busy listening to Voldemort's little monologue" or "great line regarding Gryffindor courage when it's four on one--really parallels his childhood experiences with the Marauders", things like that. But when I finished reading, my immediate gut reaction was simply "KICK ASS!" I'm not sure what that says about me, but it's definitely meant as a compliment!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Your review really brought a smile to my face! Both the day that it arrived and again when I read it tonight. :) I'm sorry that it's taken me so long to respond, but I promise that I did appreciate it!! Thank you very, very much!
I am so GLAD that he lives!!!!!!!!!! Wow. Thank you. Also, I never realized Rowling's mistake with the Whamping Willow's passage before. Someone had to open it, didn't they. Good call.I'm excited to see what you do next. I am sad we are getting close to the end, but I'm glad most of my anxiety is over now that he's alive, at least for the moment. Yay!!!!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
You're welcome!Absolutely someone had to open the passage! Particularly after all that talk about how all known passages to Hogsmeade had been closed up!!Thanks again, I'm glad that you liked it.
