Sequel to Phoenix Song or, Hermione Granger and the H-BP. By the time of Dumbledore's death, Hermione and Snape had worked together for a whole year. Now, however, they both have very different and very difficult tasks ahead of them. **DH SPOILERS**

Reviews for Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH)
excellent chapter - interplay through dialoge is grand! Thank you for taking the time to weave it so well - keep up the great work!

Thank you very much! I'm glad you liked it. The dialogue was a lot of fun to write. Thanks again for the review.
Great chapter! :)
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much! I'm glad that you liked it. :)
Brilliant stuff. Poor Hermione. It's quite heartbreaking what she had to do, and this is the first time any story has hit me with that fact with such impact. And she wants to kiss Severus again. Thats always a good thing!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much! I feel that JKR treated this incident very flippantly in the books--it came across as more plot device and less plot--but I wanted to focus on how intrusive an act it was, without ignoring the sentiment that motivated Hermione to even suggest it. Anyway, I'm glad you liked it.Thanks again for the review.
Oh this was lovely. I'm so glad you've started posting the sequel; I was such a huge fan of the first one. I love all the murky ethical areas you had to deal with in this one - and Snape's pronoucement that it was Hermione's parents' choice and how you tied it into the reason for the fight against Voldemort - brilliant. It's things like this that give us a reason to read your fic, you haven't just written a canon-with-Snape-and-Hermione, but you've gone a step further and added in all these subtleties of understanding and insight. Loved the first chapter of this as well - I really liked reading it from Snape's perspective - I loved his interaction with Draco. Is Draco beginning to suspect this Snape is on the Order's side?
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much--not only for your comments about these two chapters but also for those about the previous story. I'm really glad that you like it. Hermione's actions, as presented in canon, were a little too flippant for my liking; they came across as a convenient plot device just so that JKR didn't have to write about HG's depression after her parents were murdered by DEs.I hope that Draco is starting to think about the consequences of his actions, but I think Snape managed to successfully distract him from the question of SS's loyalties--for the time being!! :)Thanks again for the review.
This really is such a fascinating rewrite of the last book. I liked your previous one too. But I really liked that chapter.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much! I'm really pleased to hear that you liked it. I wanted to provide some context for Hermione's actions, because the way they were presented in canon seemed oddly unlike her normal modus operandi. Thanks again for the review. :)
I am only disappointed that there is no next chapter for me to click to. I am so glad that Severus has been released from the Unbreakable Vow -- in canon, it sounded like he would never be free in his lifetime. Bellatrix looks like she will always be a problem to Severus, although the Malfoys should see that she is way too crazy. THANK YOU for writing this sequel; I'm already waiting for the next post!~ Junewilliams7
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Well, the next chapter is in the queue, so you shouldn't have too long to wait . . . :) I'm glad that you liked the start of this one. Bellatrix is crazy, of course; she's jealous of Snape and his influence with Voldy. But at least Snape is out from under the Unbreakable Vow, now. That's one less thing for him to worry about! Thanks for the review. xo
Oooh, very nice, I hope to read more soon!!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much! The next chapter is in the queue, and I hope to update weekly, so it shouldn't be too long between updates. :)
God, I don't know what to say. When I saw that you had posted the new story, I did a little 'Look What I Can Do' dance in my kitchen and frightened my boyfriend. I can not stress enough how incredibly awesome your writing and your Snape are. I am so happy to see this up, it's a high I'm gonna ride all day.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you for such a lovely review. You have left an enormous smile on my face. I only hope that the rest of the story manages to live up to such expectations!!! ARRRGH! The pressure :)
*Squee!!* Loved 'Phoenix Song' and looks like I'm going to enjoy this one just as much! Liked the interaction between Severus and Draco. Though Draco seems pretty dense to bring up how his dear auntie didn't trust Severus even after witnessing that Severus had taken a Vow to protect him and the Dark Lord pointed out that she hadn't put up any fuss when he was about to be 'punished'... Looking forward to the next!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you for such a lovely review :)I only hope Phoenix Tears manages to live up to your expectations!! Draco wasn't exactly subtle, was he? I think he saw his honesty as an indirect apology for his previous mistrust. The next chapter is in the queue . . . :) Thanks again for the review.
this is a great start for the sequel or rather the continuation. I loved the first one so keep up the good work
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much! I'm delighted that you enjoyed it; I only hope that this story manages to live up to the expectations raised by the first. :) Thanks for the review.
Hello - I don't often leave reviews (is a very bad reader) but I followed Phoenix Song avidly and I'm so pleased to see you decide to write the sequel. I have to mention that last line: “Because, Draco,” he replied, suddenly overwhelmed with exhaustion, “my master told me to; I got the impression that the Dark Lord was pleased.” *goosebumps* Just brilliant - so sad, so true. Looking forward to more updates very soon thank-you for sharing your wonderful stories with us all.siriusgirl08

Thank you very much for leaving such a nice message--particularly given that you don't usually do so! :) I'm really thrilled to hear that you liked Phoneix Song so much, I only hope that this story lives up to your expectations.I see Severus as very good at telling the truth and letting others misinterpret it. My plan is to update weekly, so it shouldn't be too long between installments. Thanks again for the review.
Oh I like that! “my master told me to; I got the impression that the Dark Lord was pleased.”VERY clever. VERY slytherin! lol Have I told you how much I love you for making a sequal?! Because I do! I can't wait to read more!!!!!!!!xxx
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you! I thought it was quite Slytherin, too--all that doublespeak/speaking-with-a-forked tongue stuff. :)Have I told you how much I love you for leaving such a nice review?? A LOT!! :) So, thanks again.
so excited to see this next part started and loving your writing style as always! thanks for the chapter - can't wait to see where you go from here!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much; I'm so glad you liked it. :) Next up ... Severus visits Hermione's parents!! My plan is to update weekly, so hopefully it won't be too long between installments. Thanks again for the review.
What a powerful first chapter of this anxiously awaited sequel!! Having read the "Phoenix Song" with huge delight, I was so pleased to see you had picked up the quill again, dearest grangerous, granting the thankful reader more of your wonderful interpretation of the events in question. This chapter is so dark and ambiguous, it's marvellous! Yet again, I find myself utterly spellbound ... anxious for the next chapter to come up, thankful for more of your wonderful story! Bravo!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much for such a lovely review. I'm really thrilled that you liked the first chapter so much and that you've been anticipating the sequel. I only hope you like the rest of the story, too! (fingers crossed!) "Ambiguous" is a very good word to describe the feel I was going for with this chapter, so I'm glad that was the effect you got. I plan to update weekly, so it shouldn't be too long between installments. Thanks again for the review. :)
Yay! It's up. I loved the reversal of the Unbreakable Vow. Very clever. I also loved Severus' frankness with Draco. So very him.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
It's up, indeed. I had fun writing the scene with Severus being completely frank and truthful and yet never quite answering Draco's questions about his loyalties. I'm really glad you liked the first chapter; thank you very much for the lovely review. :)
YAY!!! Love it love it love it!!! Thanks!!!! ANd Snape is so in character. Aweosme!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you! I'm so glad you liked it :) I think Snape has a natural talent for talking his way through such situations. Thanks again for the review.
I am looking forward to this story. I really enjoyed your last one and this doesn't look like I'll be disappointed! You already have me hooked. It will be interesting to see some more of Draco. We didn't see much of him in the real books and I'm excited to see his role in the whole book. Keep the chapters coming.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you for the lovely review! :) I'm really glad you liked the first chapter. Draco is such a badly behaved teenage boy in book 6, but he has a real change of heart in book 7. Re-reading DH in order to finish the finer planning details of this story made me realise that the shift was far deeper, even than I had noticed. I plan to update weekly . . . as long as RL doesn't explode, of course.
Brava! Yay! Huzzah! I'm so glad to see the first chapter of your sequel (and you began it by re-capping my favorite scene from it's predecessor). I'll now sit back quietly in my chair and wait for more.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
*takes a bow* I'm so glad to hear your excitement. :) I only hope that the story manages to live up to your expectations. More is promised soon; thanks again for the lovely review.
I love how Severus never says who his master is. A true Slytherin indeed.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Indeed! I see him as a veritable master of that kind of doublespeak. I'm glad that you enjoyed the chapter; thanks for the lovely review. :)
Very good. I will be reading further. Please don't wait too long to update. I always hate reading WIPs because so often they get abandoned. Anyway, I'm pretty much out of completed stuff to read for the moment and this one has caught my attention.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much; I'm really flattered that you liked it enough to read it in short doses. My plan is to update weekly . . . so hopefully the installments will be close enough together that the story will continue to make sense. Thanks again for the lovely review.
Very enjoyable, I look forward to reading this story and hope to like it as much as the last.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Oh, god! I hope you like it as much as the last one, too! The pressure is ON! :) On a less stressful note, I'm glad you liked the first chapter ;p Thank you for the review.
he handled that very adroitly. i await your take on dh with breathless anticipation. thanks so much
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much! Severus Snape has a talent for that kind of doublespeak, methinks. :) I only hope the story can live up to your expectations!! Thanks again for the review.
Yay, you're back! :D
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
I am! And I'm glad to be back :D
