Oooh! Can I buy shares in this story's future? Thank you for keeping it up.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Absolutely! The stocks are looking good right now, in fact, experts are predicting that for every review you leave you should expect a 100-fold return!! *winks*Thanks for leaving a review; all humour aside, I much appreciate it.
Great chapter, I had forgotten about Jocelyn, but this promises a very interesting turn of events...
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much. Luckily Severus hadn't forgotten her!! ;) I'm glad you approved. Thanks for the review.

Thank you very much! I'm glad you liked it. :) Thanks again for the fabulous review!
Somehow, TPP is not notifying me of updates. :(No matter, I'll just check back more often. This is really great. I'm glad you brought Jocelyn back.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Oh no! If it helps at all, I've been updating weekly. By the time it gets through the queue, it's usually Friday, though sometimes as late as Monday. Right now, the next chapter is at spot 21.I'm really glad that you're enjoying the story, and I hadn't forgotten Jocelyn :)Thanks for the review.
Love the way he has taken a personal interest in Jocelyn! :)
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you! :) I'm glad you approve. Thanks for the review.
Oh please please please write more. I'm reading. It's wonderful. I love it that Snape just can't abandon Jocelyn.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
More is currently being written!! My goal is to update weekly, and the next chapter is already in the queue. Thank you very much for the lovely review and for your enthusiasm. :)
I'm still here and I'm still reading. Stupid Draco annoys me. So full of himself until 6th year. Excellent writing.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Welcome! Draco changes a lot between the end of the sixth book and the end of the seventh, or better, between the start of the sixth and the end of the seventh; and I don't want to sweep those changes under the tablecloth. Personally, I don't think JKR did him much justice. Enjoy the rest of the story, and thank you again for the review.
So sad to see the parents go... and Hermione too.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Oh, I know! :( Such a hard year from everybody's perspective. Thanks for the review.
great read!! Thanks so much for the hard work!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much! I'm glad you liked it :)
How does he get through his life? I keep thinking about all the emotional anguish he is put through on a daily basis. No wonder I always crave for a happily ever after. The man certain deserves it! Thank you for another great chapter
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Gosh, I don't know. He really has a bad deal in JKR's story, though. This last year in particular must have been miserable as all hell. *sigh* Thanks for the review; I'm glad you liked the chapter :)
Love this! The quiet moments with Severus and Hermione after her parents' memories were modified, like the calm befor e the storm, and the very palpable tension between them, and I really like that you are showing us all the action on Severus' side as well - like the breakout from Azkaban prison! Too often even in canon rewrites we just get Hermione's side!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you! :) I think the action on Severus' side of the war is what's going to make this story (from the writing perspective as well as from the reader's). Stuck in the the tent with Harry, Hermione is going to have her own view on things, but only limited actions that Harry doesn't know about, but Snape . . . He's a completely different story!! :) I'm glad you liked it, thanks for the review.
I only just discovered tonight that YOU'RE BACK with this wonderful story! I'd been thinking about you, and the previous story, the last several days, so apparently the Infinite was trying to communicate to my subconsious mind that you'd starting posting it again (or Sybill was whispering it in my ear). Either way, YOU'RE BACK and I'm thrilled! The last chapter had me swallowing the lump in my throat; the sweet scenes between Hermione and Snape before their parting in this one had me both smiling and excited. Of COURSE he would have had an antivenin to Nagini!---and I can't wait to see the use Hermione will make of that, as well as his of the Portkey. And does Drace yet realize how very lucky he is?Can't wait for more!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
*waves* Hi! Yes, I'm back, and enjoying being back.Of COURSE he has an antivenom, he's a Potions Master--and a paranoid spy at that. :) Unfortunately, there's still the potential bloodloss and the wound itself that will need healing, but the poison itself should be easily neutralised. ;)I think Draco has realised he's had a very lucky escape. What he decides to do with this second chance is the long term is still up for debate . . . I'm really glad that you're liking the sequel! Thanks for the review.
Oh wow... fantastic chapter, very moving.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you! :) I'm thrilled that you liked it.
"you’re far from fragrant in your current state, my friend" love that line! :)
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
I was tickled by the idea of Lucius Malfoy all grotty and gritty from Azkaban. :) I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for the review.
Only you could make me feel just a teensy bit sorry for Lucius Malfoy! I loved Sev's line to him:“Please, Lucius. I’m a Slytherin. If I were to betray you, I wouldn’t tell you about it."And the closeness between Severus and Draco building further is heartwarming too. But what's going to happen to Stan Shunpike? Poor guy, always at the wrong place at the wrong time, it seems... being part of a breakout isn't going to do much for him claims of innocence, I fear. Can't wait until the next update...
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
AHA! :) I'm delighted to have made anyone feel a bit sorry for poor Lucius. He's a bad guy, and for all of the wrong reasons, but he's human, too. :)Poor Stan. He participates in the fight over the Dursleys' on the DE side, so I guess he's just going to live out the next year or so under Imperio. Poor guy. *sigh*Next update will be up in a week. I swear it!! (Queue willing!) Thanks for the review. :)
I'm so happy that you've started the sequel, and it's shaping up to be (I think) even better than the previous story. Seeing everything through Severus' perspective is wonderful, and I'm particularly loving the interaction between him and Draco, giving a real reason for his turnaround (as vague as it was) in book seven.I'm also glad to see that Hermione told her parents--albeit at the eleventh hour--what she wished to do with them to protect them, and that it was Severus who pointed out that it needed to be their choice, because free will was a part of what they were fighting for.Great stuff as usual!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Oh, THANK YOU! I'm glad that this story has lived up to your expectations! :)I've read a bunch of fics where Hermione suffers belated guilt for her actions regarding her parents (usually after she discovers she'd botched the charm, somehow), but I wanted her to actually think about the ethics of the situation, and Snape was very ready to oblige!! :)Thanks for the review.
I really have to stop checking for updates while I'm cooking, I've burnt another meal. But it was totally worth it! *sigh* I could marry you and you could write fiction for me all day...
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
You don't know how tempting that sounds!! I'd love to be able to do nothing but write fiction all day. You'd have to promise to pay more attention to the dinner, though . . . ;)Thanks for the review! I'm really delighted to hear that you found it so distracting, though I hope you managed to enjoy your dinner regardless. :)
Amazing chapter!! So far, I like "Tears" even more than "Song". Great work!! Please update again soon!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you!! *grins delightedly, then bites nails* I only hope that continues to be the case!! :)Thanks for the review! :)
Another lovely chapter. This version of Snape is wonderful - very close to canon, but so much more multi-dimensional. The way you have taken canon and let us see differing colors of the story through your own prism is brilliant.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much! I'm delighted that you enjoyed the chapter. :) So many of the secondary characters in canon are really given only in two dimensions, thus there is a lot of pleasurable wriggle room for fanfic authors to colour in as they so desire. :) Thanks again for the review.
I am glad the story is coming up at TPP now. I prefer reading here although I admit I did rush to FanFiction.net when you said it was going there first. Glad more is coming.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
This is a nicer site to read on, for sure, plus there's the added benefit that tlotc points out all of the mistakes I've overlooked. It always takes a while for things to wend their merry way through the queue, though.More is definitely on the way!! :)
This was a chilling chapter. I felt scared for Susan when I imagined myself in her place. I think H&S should arrange for a 3rd party to know about her parents just in case neither would survive. They are both high risk dontca know.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Oh, I'm so delighted that it was Hermione's mum you emphathised with in this scene--I was really hoping it might have that effect. I can't think that it could have been anything other than terrifying.Hmm, Hermione does tell Ron and Harry, though I guess they're both high risk, too . . . I'll make sure she metions it to someone else as well. Thanks for the advice! :)Thanks for the review.
Response from MollysSister (Reviewer)
I assume that we will have an HG/SS happily ever after but from the character's perspectives both Hermione and SEverus both vulnerable in the war. Perhaps a distant friend living in Norway could be trusted?
malignant cancer of the Dark Lord’s insatiable desire for power This is a quite the description! 10 points to your house for painting a vivid picture. I like the part where Bella & Narcissa removed the vow. I would think we would see that more often in fanfic. I thought it was terribly clever of you to have Severus keep his word nonetheless. Well done you!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you! My fellow Gryffindors thank you for the points ;)I couldn't see Severus abandoning Draco at this late stage, it's not his style. I'm glad you liked the chapter :) Thanks for the review.
I loved how Severus was the voice of reason here. It always bugged me that Hermione's parents really had no say in the matter. At least now they'll remember they agreed to it.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you! Clearly Hermione was acting for all of the right reasons, but their more to ethical behaviour than that. I've read a buch of fanfics that deal with Hermione's belated guilt for her actions, but I wanted to deal with the moment itself, and what it might have been like to interact with ones parents in such an awkward and freighted situation. I'm glad you liked it. :) Thanks for the review.
wow...just wow. absolutely superb update. thanks so much
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much; I'm really glad you liked it. Thanks for leaving such a lovely review.
Wow, that was such a great chapter. It really brought tears to my eyes! I can't wait for the next one!!!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much! I'm really glad that you enjoyed it. :) I very much wanted to put Hermione's actions into context. Thanks again for the review.
