Reviews for Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH)
I wonder if the Prime Minister is a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. You can just imagine: 'No weapon was meant to be able to kill the Judge, but a rocket launcher did the trick!' And Kingsley being all long-suffering: 'Yes Prime Minister, but must I remind you we are dealing in the realms of reality?'I think this is my favourite chapter so far, I really like the interaction between Hermione & Ron (bless him, he gets there eventually!) Hermione's flamboyant otter is just so...otterish! And Kingsley...he's just....cool!

Thank you very much! I'm so glad that you liked the chapter. I have a big soft spot for Kingsley (if you hadn't noticed)! Thanks again for the review.
Think of Snape, how sweet. I'm glad Hermione has Ron on side in this.. he does have a brain!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
*happy sigh* yes! I think Ron is much more likeable when he puts that strategic brain of his to use. :) Thanks for the review!
Another great chapter!!! I love this story more and more!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Why, thank you very very much! :) I'm so glad you liked it.
Love Hermione's side trip to see Kingsley. Its fun to see things on Hermione's side that haven't been written into canon as well. Its great how you manage to ensure Snape's presence in the chapter even when he doesn't actually appear through Hermione's thinking of him when she casts the Patronus and Ron's realisation that Snape could be on their side - I suppose this irons out some of her doubts about him, having Ron's second opinion.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much. I'm glad that you liked it. Any meeting with Kingsley is likely to be a good think, methinks ;p I also have a bit of a thing for a Ron who can think straight when he needs to. :) Thanks again.
Loved the impromptu meeting with Kingsley. And wow, Ron... don't quite know what else to say.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much! :) I'm glad you liked it. Who doesn't like a Ron who can strategise when he needs to? ;)Thanks again.
Awww...I really like Ron. Glad he is a positive character here, no dumb or worthless Ron that is seen so often. How good must it have felt for Hermione to be in a house after camping so long. If I were her, I would have told Kingsly to keep his tea and draw me a hot, steamy bubble bath!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much! I have a soft spot for Ron. I think he's got a lot of promising aspects. :) I'm glad that you liked the chapter; thanks for the review.
Bringing Kingsley into the mix, eh? Nice. It's good to know they have the Order behind them. I wonder if the dishwasher boy will come in later. For some reason he just stuck out to me.Ron isn't as daft as we'd like to believe. I'm glad he's not hated in this story. So many HP stories have him as the bad guy, refusing to change his POV and here you have him actually helping as part of the trio. I've been thinking about him lately and how he was the only one to control the chess board in the first book. He's not as stupid as he appears.Another great chapter. I look forward to more.

Thanks for the lovely review! I guess I feel that JKR let both Hermione and Ron down in the later books. While most of the other characters became more fleshed out, they became more two-dimensional--to the story's detriment. I like to imagine that they can both become the people their younger selves suggested they could be. (Plus, you can never have too much Kingsley!)Thanks again for the review.
so ron figured out that snape is on the side of light. and it didnt seem to take him too long either, AND he managed it on his own. :D
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
All of the chess and Quidditch strategy he's imbibed has to come in handy sometime! :) Thanks for the review.
wonderful interlacing of the two. loved hermione casting her patronus. faboo chapter. thanks muchly
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much! I'm really glad you like it. I've always thought it interesting that the reason Harry had such trouble casting his early Patronuses was that he couldn't think of a happy enough memory, and yet Hermione's difficulty with them is always waved away in the books as her not being that good at defence. It made me wonder!! :) Thanks again for the review.
I like your version better than JK's.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very, very much! :)
about how long do you think this story will be? i find myself saddened that there is no more to read, currently. i am (im)patiently waiting on the coming arrival of the next chapter! xD
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
My plan is for Phoenix Tears to be 25 chapters (the same length as Phoenix Song). Thanks for the review; I'm so glad that you're enjoying the story still. :)
God what a sad situation he was in. I do believe Severus was intelligent enough to know his days were numbered when the Dark Lord resurfaced. How incredibly brave he was to continue spying. I just can't believe that JKR killed him off the way she did. A Potion Master dying from a snake bite? I'm sure he would have been better prepared...
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
I imagine that Severus knew his days to be numbered from the moment that he switched sides. You don't betray the Dark Lord and live to boast about it, after all. Thanks for the lovely review!
Great chapter as always the plots just blend seamlessly!!! Wonderful!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very, very much! :)
Ah, he knows he's done for! But I have hope that you will find a way to make it all better. It's much nicer having a fully informed Severus. The man's brilliant and to think he was in the dark about some of this stuff is just plain dumb.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
I totally agree. I also think that the storyline of DH is too flimsy to hang together if we believe Harry's assumption that no-one knows anything about what anyone else is up to. *sigh*Thanks for the lovely review!
Aha, the arithmancer knows all! :)
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
As always! Thanks for the review. :)
Another great chapter! I was relieved at his meeting with Vector. I thought for sure something bad would happen in Bulgaria. Such a relief to be able to let his guard down for a bit. Was he listening when she suggested contacting Hermione? Maybe you could repeat that for him to make sure he understood what a great idea that is. Ok, I should quit harrassing you about them meeting up...the story is really great as it is...sigh
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much for the lovely review. I'm glad that you enjoyed his meeting with Vector. I do solemnly swear that a meeting between Snape and Hermione is on the horizon . . . I hope that's enough reassurance to keep going with the story! :) Thanks again for the review.
Response from HBAR (Reviewer)
I would keep reading even if you said that they would never interact again...this story is that good. I just really liked their dynamic in Phoenix Song and am eager for more of that. Keep up the great work!
It's sad that he's going to let the finger point to him, knowing it means death for himself. He went in fully knowing what would happen eventually but he did it anyway. I always thought he had a lot of bravery and courage. I'm pleased to see his alliance with Vector. It's nice to dump your secrets on others once in a while in order to carry on.And I'm surprised to see his relationship with Albus turn. I always assumed he would hate the old man for putting him in such a position, but it seems that he's resigned himself to the facts and he's making the best out of his situations. Good for him.I look forward to more. We're getting closer to the end and I'm excited to see where this all ends up.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
I think that Severus knew--pretty much from the moment he promised to switch allegiances, that his life would be forfeit. In fact, I'm inclined to think that his previous commitment to the psycho Voldemort predisposed him to the notion of henchmen being randomly killed.I'm glad that you're still enjoying the story. Thanks for the lovely review!
Man, I've managed to miss some chapters here! How could that happen? Still, it does mean I have more to read now...Hermione's logic is flawless. Her answer is still wrong, but the logic she used to get there cannot be denied! I'm sure I'd think exactly the same, were I in her position; since she's coming from a Muggle background, it's difficult to put one's faith in "fairy tales" as fact. And I'm sure Dumbledore knew this as well, and even counted on it to keep them from going "too fast". Grr.You continue to weave your and JKR's plotlines together excellently; I await the time when you will of course deviate completely from canon and allow Severus to survive the war so he can marry Hermione (or at least shack up with her)! On to the next chapter!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
I really want to portray Hermione as convincingly clever--and I think that involves having her be wrong sometimes (even though her logic is, as you say, flawless) and for us to see her struggling towards insight. Too often smart characters (in "real" fiction and fanfic) tend to be effortlessly smart in ways that seem unconvincing.I'm really glad that you liked the chapter. Thanks for the totally wonderful review. :) (and I look forward to your other reviews!) :)
Excellent as always!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much!
fantastic, I hope Snape lives in the end of this one
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you! (I'm keeping Snape's death/survival possibilities very very secret!!)
excellent. you really have done an amazing job of sticking to the story line of the book and adding bits of Snape and Granger's points of view. As much as I want them together it makes sense that he wouldn't wake her.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much! I just couldn't see him waking her--unless he had some message that was crucial to impart. Though I'm pretty sure she wished that he had!!Thanks again.
Ahhhhhhhhh! What else can I saw after such a thoroughly enjoyable and satisfying chapter? And I didn't miss the two "missing" lines at all--not telling Severus about the Horcrux hunt was one of, if not "the", stupidest things Albus Dumbledore ever did.The only little pang of bitter in so much sweet was--I was really, really hoping he would kiss her!Good luck with the job, and waiting eagerly for the next!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much! I'm really glad that you liked it. :)Severus being Severus I can't see him kissing her without another reason that could explain his actions away. *sigh*The next chapter is now in the queue!
Great chapter. A little bit of me wished she had woken, but I think it would be better they meet when the circumstances are much better. And i'm on my hands and knees for you to sod the employer and put all your time into this LOL! But good luck in your new job.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much! I'm really glad that you liked it. They wouldn't have had time to have a real conversation, so yes, better that they meet a little later when they have a chance to actually speak to each other. :)The new job is sucking up all of my time, but otherwise is going well. Thanks for the good wishes. And of course, for the review.
As you stated in your notes at the end - So close, and yet so far. I was SOOO hoping that he would wake her up. But every time he entertains the idea that she might like him, he calls himself "Snivellus". I hate it when he belittles himself that way.I hope you continue to have time to write for us, but I would rather your chapters take longer than for you to get in trouble. Heaven knows that my own chapters are written few and far between these days. Those of us who love your story will follow it anyway. Don't worry.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you for the reassuring words! I just don't have the time I did when lazing around on the couch over summer . . . *sigh* :)Unfortunately I decided that they didn't have enough time in the tent to have a worthwhile conversation, so she slept through it. Had she known, though . . . the mind wonders, right? Thanks for the lovely review!
In this economy it would be prudent for you to satisfy your employers LOL. Great chapter, although I hope the last chapters will also not be canon compliant. I love seeing things from Severus's perspective.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
yeah, I guess keeping my job is a pretty high priority. LOL. Hence the slow rate of review responses that I've managed. :)Thanks for this lovely review, however, I'm really glad you liked the chapter. The next one is now in the queue, I'm happy to say . . . Thanks again.
