Reviews for Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH)
Such a brilliant chapter. I only wish that this had happend in the orignal story.. but your version makes it all better. I loved this 'She looked terrible: singed, dirty, tired and worried; Severus had never seen anything more beautiful.' Brilliant.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much! He didn't deserve to die on the floor of the Shrieking Shack--and I just can't see a Potions Master dying of a venomous snake bite!!Thanks again!
Fabulous. Nuff said. :)
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
THANK YOU!! :)
Wow, awesome chapter!!! And congrats on being nominated, you really deserve it!!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very, very much! I was absolutely thrilled to be nominated. :)
Once again he saves Draco. I'm glad to see that the boy is finally wizing up. I'm glad Jocelyn is back at Hogwarts. I still hope Severus adopts her in the end. I really do.I very much enjoyed the talk between Severus and Hermione. She needed that so very much. and he did too.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
They really did need to see each other--I can't see how either of them would have got by otherwise. I also thought that Hermione's trauma was rather quickly dealt with in canon; she needed to talk to someone about it. :)Thanks for another lovely review.
Oh, gods the bit at the Manor. I know see why Draco lied to protect, well, tired to protect, Harry, Hermione and Ron. Well done on this depliction of the scene.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Draco is trying his best, poor sod. He's not been placed in a happy situation, either. I'm glad that you liked it! Thanks for the review.
Good of Severus to try and knock some sence into Neville - but it was way to subtle. He won't get it, will he?Dumbledore still trying to manipulate things from his frame. lol Hooch was a surprise. I hope this bodes well for Severus. So, he showed the Dark Lord the book and sealed his fate. My heart thumped at that scene.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
I'm always thrilled that people can feel anxious at certain scenes even though they know how the story is going to go! :)Dumbledore will still be trying to manipulate things even when the paint in his portrait has faded to a dull blur, LOL. Thanks, as always!
I'm glad that Hermione reached out to Kinglsey. They should have shared more, swapped more info, but this was handled right. I enjoyed the interchange and support they had.So Ron has figured it out - good for him. Yes, Severus did it. He's on you side. Hope he remembers that later on.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Ron's a strategist--even though JKR saw fit to forget that! :) In this story, it will play a major role (see chapter 24 once it posts!!)Thanks for your comments. :)
Ah how sad, his mentor in Potions is dead. I was amuzed by Vector/Ana's revelation and am gald that Severus had someone to tlak to. I wish he'd had more trust or had been able to trust Minerva, but I understand. Still, this was really good for Vector/Ana and him.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Precisely. Plus now Vector has a lot of information to add into her matrix, and that might prove crucial . . . Thanks for yet another wonderful review. :)
Ron is trying so hard. it's good to se him out from under the locket's influence. Poor Harry, moping about.
The veisit to Mr. Lovegood - well done. Nicely done.
I liked reading Hermione's take on why Dumbledore kept the Hallows a secret, but she's missing the obvious. He was tellign he they are real and he has one, Harry has one. She just doesn't want to see it.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you--as always!I had to work out why Hermione was being so obtuse about the Hallows when she's so with it about everything else. This seemed to fit her personality type, and work with the information she had. I also don't think that she's off the mark in feeling annoyed that Harry wasn't paying much attention to the Horcrux hunt. Thanks, again!
Severus conning Alecto into making Neville do lines, was funny. Idiot witch thinks it's not punishment enough. Lucius pulling Severus aside to voice his concerns about Jocelyn was funny. He can't even remember who's he's used to know she's not his? lol I like how Severus manipulated him into taking care of her. Well, I know Narcissa helped earlier, but its nice that the girl is being taken care of.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Alecto and her brother are so dumb! Which at least makes things easier for Severus, poor man. Someone needs to look after Jocelyn, she deserves it. And I think poor Lucius is trying to focus on the few positive things about his hideous year! :)Thanks for yet another lovely review.
Oh from Hermione's POV the trip to GOdric's Hallow was scarrier, I think. I really am amazed at how you weave the books and make a fresh look at the familiar.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much! I was particularly pleased with myself for turning Bathilda's comment from the other room into the hiss of the radiator. *smirks happily at own self*Thanks, again.
I knew from the title this was where Ron would bug out! lolI liked how you had Severus handle the robbery attempt of the sword. THe Dark Lord's comment about blood to Severus was funny - nope the purebloods aren't have what the half-bloods are. lol. The idiot meglamaniac has no clue, does he?P. Black's version of events is funny - telling Severus what the HG/HP/RW are doing... he's suck a berk.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Poor Ron, it's not his finest moment--and from the bumbling description of his escape from the snatchers, it's almost inconceivable that he would have managed to get away. Having Severus there to rescue him makes much more sense! If you think about it, Voldemort, Dumbledore, Snape and Harry are all half-bloods! That said, the idea of pure-blood supremecy is just ludicrous. Thanks once again for the review. :)
Hermione's conversation with P. Black was funny. Figures he wouldn't tell her why, just a demand to do it. JerkThe version of the Ministry was well done. I was as creeped out as Hermione. Nail bitter. And the Horcrux affect was very well described. Neat to read it from Hermione's logical mind.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Well, Phineas is not the most amenable of personalities. :)I really liked writing Hermione's view of the Ministry, because Harry tends to gloss over some of the creepier aspects. Just the thought of what it must have been like for Hermione--a very moral and proactive Muggle-born--to sit through some of those hearings makes my blood run cold. Thanks for another review!
Very telling that Severus' one though is "Let Hermione be all right."HIsbrief conversation with Lucius was telling, but I hope Lucius starts to come around. Severus taking Hermione's picture was sweet. and His excuse to the Dark Lord was ingenous.I especially liked how you wrote the staff meeting. Hilarious! Have I said how much I am enjoying this?
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
I'm really glad that you're enjoying it, no matter which site you read it on ;)Lucius had a pretty bad year of it, in the end. It's kind of a shame that he didn't get put as one of the teachers instead of the Carrows; I do think Severus could have convinced him. And yes, OF COURSE Severus was worried about Hermione! :)Thanks again!
Really cool to see the "Harry escape" from Hermione's and then Severus' POV. But it's still harrowing and sad. Very nicely done.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
I'm finally getting around to answering some of these reviews--the long weekend has to be good for something, right? :) So, firstly, thank you very much! I always thought that the "escape" was a crazy idea!
The interaction with the Dark Lord is so errie but you seem to see him as I do ( as in Parchment's version of him) and it's errie! I said that, didn't I.Severus sneak back into the castle to converse with Dumbledore was surprising, but now he knows whats coming. I'm glad for Jocelyn. I hope in the end, Severus survives and he adopts her.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
He had to sneak back in because of the details JKR had included in the pensieve memories. Somehow Snape had to have a conversation between the time he killed Dumbles, but before Harry's escape. I don't think that JKR can ever have plotted the memories she wrote out along a timeline, because it actually doesn't make much sense for him to be there at that point!!
LOL I really enjoyed how you worked out the plan for Ron's 'get away and cover story' and was pleased with how you showed the families reactions to the 'mission' Harry has. I really love the Weasley family (I know, duh, hense my penname) but you gave them a warmth I appreciate.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
I love the Weasleys, too. :) It always seemed like a bizarre plan, to me--just a little random--but I wanted to make it seem more plausible. Thanks for the review!
I'm glad that they had this one 'night' together. It was nice to see them so companionable. The break out was funny, when Severus said that Stan was no death eater. I felt sorry for Lucius though.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
I think that they needed some moment of respite, however brief, before the rather challenging and lonely year that they both have ahead of them.
I'm glad that the Grangers agreed to let Severus alter their memories. it speaks volumes that Sverus kept his promise to help Hermione. I hope she remembers this.Excellent story, btw. Written so well and with a nice flow.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
I don't think she's likely to forget. :) Thanks for all of the reviews, I'm really delighted that you like the story.
It's so sad that Severus' kiss was only to pass the potion back to Hermione. I know he wanted to linger, but time jsut wasn't on his side. Little Draco, will the prat never learn. Severus saved his miserable sould then saved his life and he has to have it spelled out for him. Spoiled prat had best grow up.But I can see the 'save his life' part coming in handy in the future.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Well, it wasn't *only* to pass the potion on; he did have an ulterior motive of some sort . . . ;)He wouldn't be Slytherin if he couldn't have two or three intentions at once!Draco has quite a lot to process during the next year, and I imagine that a few hints from Snape wouldn't hurt. *hugs*
That would make a lot of sense to me, seeing as this story is brilliant also ;P Best of luck for the voting! And thankyou very much for sharing your work, I'm always delighted to see how many SS/HG authors manage to bring something fresh to the fandom. The bad boy appeal may have got me in, but it's writers like yourself who have kept me around :)
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very, very much! I'm really thrilled whenever anyone tells me that they find this story fresh--because it has so much canon woven through it, that I would understand if people didn't want to read it. So doubly thanks! :)
Yay for keeping it very much canon while still giving us hope for a happy ending! He almost laughed; he felt giddy with relief. Hermione Granger was going to keep Potter alive, but it didn’t mean she was finished with Severus Snape.Ahhh... music to my ears. If only all the men of the world had such a girl to take care of them...I will be so sorry to see this come to a close. Guess you'll just have to start writing something else fabulous ;)
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thanks for the lovely review. I happen to think that the ending I wrote to this story (yet to be revealed, of course) is even more canon than the rest--yet oh, so different from what you might have thought happened in JKR's version. So, you'll have to tell me what you think at the very end. :) Thanks again for the review!
And unsurprisingly, but thank god, Severus is still alive. Lovely take on Severus' flight, I especially liked the four on one comment. Brilliant exploitation of the Harry filter as always :D
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you very much! I'm glad that you liked it. :) The four-on-one comment wasn't something that I planned, it just popped into my head--but oh, it seemed appropriate. Thanks again!
I am SOOOO happy that you didn't just kill Severus off. He has a chance, which is more than canon gave him.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
I haven't killed him off--yet!! *smirks* Though I'm glad that you approve. :) What Potions Master would die from snake venom??? Thanks for the review!
that was phenominal!!! loved hermione and ron in the cos. that was beautifully done. thanks and mucho smoocies
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the DH))
Thank you! I'm glad that you liked it. :)
