I suspect that is why Severus is still stuck here, what a sad situation.

Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)

Very sad, indeed. I promise it will get better. Thanks for reading and taking the time to leave a note. I appreciate it! /M

Oh my goodness. Oh dear god. This... this is... First I was biting my lip and being torn about whether I want Morgaine and Alek to be together or not, then I felt somewhat unjustifiably relieved when she said no, then LUCIUS TURNS UP. Plus Alek seems to be hiding someting bad too. And poor Severus. :(I was really happy to read about Demeter and Melvin though, they're adorable together.

Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)

Poor Severus? What about every one else? You know, I was having the same thoughts about Morgaine and Alek. I would have liked her to have someone, but at the same time, it would have messed things up even more. Good thing Lucius showed up :P

Response from angelmaple (Reviewer)

I know I know, I should've said poor Morgaine and Alek. But I really felt bad for Severus too. :(I can hardly imagine what more of a mess things would be if they actually got together.

Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)

You're talking to the Queen of Mess here. Just you wait :P

dun dun dun dun!!!!  Now what?  I can understand her not wanting to give herself up to Alex.  He's pretty good at letting it be.  Now, does Lucius' appearance have anything to do with what's been going on?

Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)

Would you like to guess, or do you want me to tell you? :)

I knew it, Lucius was lurking and I know he is up to no good. And Alek have a dark secret too, run Morgaine, run - but she is not in good form, oh my

Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)

Yep, that kinda sums it up!

star_girl

Oh, those two. Such deep feelings, so scared of letting them out.

Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)

One would think that two fairly intelligent people like those two would actually manage to talk to each other, eh? Ah, Slytherins .... ;-)

You have such a way with words.  I've been drawn into your story and was disappointed that the chapter ended.

Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)

I am very glad that you are enjoying this story,

Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)

. It's very dear to me.I am writing chapter 4 as we speak, 3 is currently beta read. Shouldn't be long./M

BulletTimeScully

Good going Demeter!

Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)

Smart lass, that one :)

BulletTimeScully

Morgaine is a little frustrated with her situation isn't she? I almost feel like she's wishing Severus wasn't there... so she didn't have to deal with all the conflicting emotions. It seems rather selfish of her... no matter how frustrating and irksome the situation. I see a major row between Severus and Morgaine somewhere in the future...

Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)

A little frustrated? That's an understatement. But the situation is hard on Morgaine: Severus is there, but at the same time, he isn't. And it's not healthy for for her to live with someone who is dead. They both realise this, but neither knows what to do about it.

BulletTimeScully

Great job as usual! I've been away from this story for a couple of months, so I'm glad that I have several chapters to read now! Yay! I'm hoping that the subtle hints of why Severus' magic is still intact (his wards at Spinner's End) and the fact that he can do some magic himself, as well as touch Morgaine, is leading to a happy ending. This chapter left me a little sad. The talk of Morgaine leaving the dungeons (and perhaps Severus) has me scared that maybe it won't be the happy ending I'm looking for. At least not one where Severus is restored to life. No spell can bring back the dead... but he isn't truly dead... Hmm... all I can do is wait and hope!Wonderful job! The angst is killing me! I love it! Keep it up!

Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)

Hi, and welcome back! Hope you're doing alright.

That was a sweet encounter between Severus and Demeter.  Poor Morgaine... stuck in the past... living with the past.  It's no wonder she doesn't want to leave.  Hopefully a little time away will help her.  Not exactly sure what I want it to help, but hopefully it will do so.  :)

Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)

The little trip will resolve many things. Eventually ... Thank you for reading and reviewing and most of all for being such a faithful reader. Means a lot!

10/10

debjunk

*sigh*  Such heartache.  Poor Morgaine.  I don't know how she stands it.  That last little bit was heartwrenchingly lovely, and I really liked what George said about not looking at Fred, then not being able to keep his eyes away at other times.  :(  Honestly, I hope they can find a way to be together.  She's just so forlorn without him.  It's like she can't go on, even with alex.

Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)

Thank you for your continued support. It means a lot to me to find reviews from faithful readers as yourself.Morgaine promised Severus her heart and soul when he was still alive. I am not sure she'd take them back even if he "freed" her. They belong together those two. But for the time being, neither of them wants to admit that they know the answer to their question.

10/10

makaem

Very nice, but I always adore your chapters. So is Severus really getting these sensations or his mind playing tricks on him?

Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)

The next chapter will hold some explanations to whether Severus is really able to feel/smell/etc or if he's just imagining things. I am very glad that you like the story. Thank you for taking the time to read it and to leave a note and shinies :)

Oh, I hope your moving is going without any hassle. It's always a little stressfull when your going to live in a other house. The chapter is as always very fine.

Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)

Thanks! Almost all packed now and waiting to get the keys. Hope the new house will be full of inspiration. /M

so sad and so beatiful. Part of me wich for them to move on, but another part wich for  them to be together, at least until the Malfoy problem is out of the way. I have a feeling that Severus still could play a role in that.

Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)

And I thought you might have forgotten all about dear Lucius. You're right, though, he is still lurking, biding his time. I can promise trouble ahead.

10/10

debjunk

Such a sad chapter.  I totally felt for Morgaine.  How could she not wonder at the small token of what Lily meant to him.  And then the end, with the thought of them moving on... probably the right thing to do, but how do they do that without eternal heartache?

Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)

This is the big question: Will either of them be able to move on? Or will the title of this story be a self-fulfilling prophecy?

Guess we’ll have to wait and see, both of us. Because those characters sure have developed a life of their own.

Response from debjunk (Reviewer)

Well, I'm hoping for the title to be truth bearing.  :D

Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)

Fingers crossed. (Wonder what happened to by font size earlier?)Thanks so much for sticking with me and the story! I appreciate it a lot! /M

Poor girl, so very upset, but unwilling to show anybody.  Morgaine's words were very good counsel, or motherliness or whatever.  I especially liked the last part.  The fact that Severus wanted her to know she could find him there.

Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)

Demeter is her parents' daughter. Neither Severus nor Morgaine are quick to show the world when they are upset. It seems as if Demeter is more like her parents' than anyone realises.I like to think that Severus very much wants to get to know his daughter, but he does not know how to approach her. Letting her know - through Morgaine - where she can find him is his way to show her that he welcomes her. I promise, however, that he will find a very different way to bond with his daughter in the next chapter.Thank you, as always, for reading and taking the time to leave a note. /M

10/10

makaem

Cool. I'm not sure what to make of all of this, but I know you'll explain at the right time.

Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)

In due time :) But I'd love to hear your theories.Cheers. /M

Wonderful! The spell scene at the end was breathtaking! I can't wait for more! I hope Demeter and Severus become closer eventually. :)

Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)

We need to give the two some time. Snape genes, you know. Stubborn people, afraid of getting hurt. The spell is all Kyria's doing. Couldn't have done it without her :)

9/10

sinbad

I enjoyed the chapter, however the ending gave me chills.  The chanting gave the feeling of something dark looming in the distance.

Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)

All precaution. As Morgaine, I am hoping the Demeter will never need the protection of the stones.

10/10

kyriaofdelphi

Beautifully brilliant. Thank you for the author's notes. Your gift of storytelling is exceptional.

Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)

It is me who has to thank you. It's a beautiful spell.Snowy yet earlier sunny greetings from Sweden. /M

This was a beatiful chapter (as allways) I loved the scene with Morgaine in the shack doing the spell. Hopefully she, Severus and the stones will protect against Lucius. Kan du holde varmen i Sverige, love Leni

Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)

Thank you! I am glad you liked the chapter. Feverishly working on more.Frozen greetings from Sweden. /M

10/10

debjunk

Ah, but what is he up to?

Demeter's new friends seem like good companions. I think I would be a bit upset if everyone around me know more about my dad too. I hope this last development with Lucius doesn't color Severus' reaction to Demeter. They both need to have a good experience with their first meeting.

Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)

Maybe we are doing Lucius wrong and he isn't up to anything? ;)Will post the next chapter, i.e. the first meeting between father and daughter, later today.Thank you for being such a truthful reader and reviewer. It means a lot! /M

10/10

makaem

Death seems to have mellowed Snape. Is Alek as naive as he appears?

Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)

Would be noooooo fun if I told you everything about Alek just yet, would it?And I do like to believe that death would have mellowed Snape. He was always under a huge amount of stress when alive (double-agent, watching over the son of his enemy, etc). I like to think that he has now the time and energy to concentrate on himself and the people who are important to him. He does not need to bark and bite anymore. But fret not, when there is need, there will be a snapping, snakry, scary Snape ;)Thanks for being such a faithful reader and reaviewer. It means a lot! /M

10/10

sinbad

Nice set up for a impending disaster.   I can't wait till Severus meets his daughter.

Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)

Disaster? In one of MY stories. Noooo ... heheI promise Severus will meet Demeter before the week is over.Thank you as always for reading and reviewing. Faithful readers like you make posting worthwhile. /M
