Reviews for Always By Your Side
That's lovely! Demeter's outgrown her nervousness about being accepted for good, it seems. If she's calling him Father, she's really in it for good. Morgaine, well, you're worrying me about her! She's not about to kill herself, that's established, but what IS she going to do? Make Severus corporeal, somehow? She can't live without him, but death's not exactly a viable option, so... what? I guess we'll find out, is what.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)
Unfortunately, there is no spell to reawaken the dead, which leaves only one option for Severus and Morgaine. Demeter is still there, though, and as you said, Morgaine won't leave her child as long as Demeter needs her. I created quite a mess, didn't I?
Again, I'm so sorry about not reviewing sooner! This was such a powerful, emotional chapter. There is so much angst; I have no idea how the heartache - esp. Morgaine's - may be resolved. The hopelessness has really got me. :(Your writing is wonderful, as usual.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)
Don't be sorry. Your reviews are always very welcome, no matter when they show up. This story is turning out much sadder and angstier than I had planned, and I fear it will get worse before it gets better.
I wasn't sure if the touching was part of her dream or if it was real, the way the first half was written. It still seems like a dream, the way it all happened in their private chambers at night, in bed. I think TPP and my Itunes have it in for me- halfway through this chapter "Whiskey Lullaby" came on, and it really hit the heartbreak of their situation home. It is an awful, trapping situation, and you portray the desperation well.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)
That was a nice song. I had never heard it before. Thanks for telling me about it. And thanks, of course, for your review. Means a lot!
An incredibly powerful chapter, my dear. Alas, even though they touched and felt each other, which I'm sure was a comfort, it just drove home the hopelessness of their situation. She can't live in two worlds forever. I'm glad she doesn't want to leave her daughter, but I don't know how she can survive mentally with what she's doing now.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! This chapter took me ages to write, and I am glad that you liked it.Morgaine is indeed in a hopeless situation, and sooner or later, she will have to make a decision about in which world she wants to live. It won't be easy.
Oh, my heart went out to him when he asked the Baron why he was still around. What he went through unitl he learned to 'be' a ghost, materalize and move things. anazing details. Minerva's visit, to see him go from snarky to sad to wistful, I really hope that he can find some level of peace some day. I was amased at the grave - the simplicity of the marker, the weeds and wild flowers. Yes, he deserved peace, since he had so little of it in life. Even their meeting was reminiscent of a deep friendship.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)
If anyone ever deserved to pass on to a peaceful afterlife, it is Severus Snape. But his mission might just not be over yet.
Oh, I can so feel this woman's pain and you've described her 'brokeness' so well, it's palatable. It's so kewl and yet horribly sad that he has a daughter that Severus never knew about and that she has no idea about him - who he was or about or what he did... so sad. Minerva telling her about Severus' ghost - okay I'm now hooked on this story.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)
I like people that are hooked on my stories :) Seriously, I am very glad that you fond this story and that you decided to give it a go. It's the continuation of my very first piece and therefore very dear to me. I hope you will enjoy it. /M
Oh this was so sad. They cannot be together and they cannot be apart, and in the background Lucius is lurking. Hopefully ther will be some merry moments for them and their daughter during X-mas break.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)
Lurking is exactly the right word to use with Lucius. Not long now, I promise :) Glad you're still with me. Thank you for reading and leaving a note. /M
She came up with a brilliant solution, and Sevrus is finally doing something that is not intimidating. hopefully they'll enjoy their game, and hopefully Morgaine will figure out what she wants. Good luck with your move.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)
Thank you for your good wishes. I am very much hoping to have some off-time from unpacking and decorating soon, so I can write. My fingers are very itchy!Demeter is a clever child. Good genes :) And she will figure out how her father "works" and that she doesn't need to be afraid of him, even if he can come across as a bit grumpy. As for Morgaine, she does know what she wants. Deep down in her heart, she wished for nothing more than to be with her soul mate for ever. Now she just has to figure out how to do it.
mmm, blessing or curse. I'd say both. Lovely presents for the birthday girl, but who could blame her for freaking out. And then there's Morgaine. Can't blame her for falling apart.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)
Blessing and curse, indeed. And hence it is so hard for Morgaine to decide whether she should still treat Severus as if he were alive or admit the fact that he is dead and try moving on. I created one big mess. I promise to solve the Gobstone issue, though. Thank you, as always, for reading and leaving a note. I appreciate it very much. /M
a wonderful chapter as allways. I am worried about Morgaines headache and her problems with her magic - and Lucius still lurking in the background - she will need all her wits about her. It was a lovely scene between Demeter and Melvin, and now she has a new probem with the gobstones.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)
Hi there! I am worried about Morgaine, too. Has a lot on her mind, the dear one. And I fear she learnt too much from Severus when it comes to hide and try to carry all her worries herself. Slytherins and Potions masters/mistresses, it seems, don't like asking people for help. Glad you haven't forgotten about Lucius. I haven't either, and I am itching to write him very soon. Thanks for staying with me and the story. Means a lot! /M
That was wonderful, if a little sad.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)
I'm amazed. I struggled with this chapter for so long, and you all like it! What a wonderful feeling!
I just read the last five chapters in one go, which was amazing. I'm very sorry to have been away though.
I had been enjoying reading about Demeter being a first year, especially her interaction with Melvin, but this chapter really brought the angst and grief back again. If only he could come back to life, sigh... yeah I realise that sounds stupid. Anyway, this chapter was absolutely beautiful. Hope you are well!
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)
Hi! Welcome back! Hope you're doing fine. Severus coming back to life would be a wonderful thing indeed. It would make life much easier for all parts involved (especially me, hehe). But not even magic can reverse death. Or can it?
That was a really nice moment.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)
Thank you. I enjoyed writing it. /M
I think this is my favorite chapter so far. I love the father/daughter interaction.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)
I am so glad you like this chapter. I had so much fun writing it!There will be much more father/daughter interaction soon, promised./M
Watching her get used to life at Hogwarts is qute fun. I like Severus' helping her. I'm sure that will go a long way on both of their parts. his Fatherly 'concern' about Melvin was quite cute.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)
I must say, Ghost-Dad-Severus is quite fun to write. Glad you liked it. /M
Wonderful update!
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)
Thank you very much! For the compliment, and for you taking the time to read and leave a note. /M
That was lovely. I like the idea of Snape wanting to be available to her and wanting her to know it.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)
Severus is not the kind of man/ghost who will approach the child and say, "Hi. Feel like catching up?" He'd rather she come to him. However, I can promise a very nice father-daughter moment for the next chapter.
Poor Severus... what will happen to him? I truly hope that he doesn't fade away or pass on. Morgaine and Demeter need him, just as he needs the two of them. Like Severus said, ghosts can't touch people... so is he actually a 'ghost'? I can't wait to find out... and the chapter was wonderful as always!
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)
Yes, what will happen to Severus? And what will happen to Morgaine and Demeter? They all need each other and will either have to learn how to live with each other or live without each other. Only time will tell.As for Severus being able to touch Morgaine, ghosts can indeed not touch people. But Severus is a ghost. So why can he? Again, time will tell. Be patient.Thank you for the kind words and the stars. I hope you will continue to enjoy the story. /M
Damn, what does Lucius have planned? Was there more to Morgaine's paternity than just introducing darkness into Dumbledore's line? Something that affects Demeter now? I think I need to reread everything. Great chapter.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)
Eeeeveryone blames Lucius. Poor man :P Thing is, he might just know who Morgaine's father is. We'll find out ...
I loved the chapter. She did a great job telling off her grandfather.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)
Maybe, if someone had told him off earlier, some lives could have been saved? So glad you liked the chapter. Next one is being owled to my beta as we speak.Have a great weekend. /M
Poor kid doesn't know what to make of her father. And I don't know what to make of that ring.
Now it would be really wonderful if Morgaine could find a way to bring Severus back. Knowing you, however, I'm not gonna hold my breath. That would be just too wonderfully happy. :)
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)
He wasn't exactly cordial, was he? Then again, that's Snape to you. But poor Demeter is only a child. Of course she wants Daddy to like her and show it to her. We're getting there :)As for the ring and whether Severus comes back: my lips are sealed.Have a great weekend! /M
oh! now I am nervous (again), I have a feeling that the ring is not a good thing. From Lucius?, well time will tell, maybe my imagination is to lively, LOL
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)
For the time being, you can relax. The ring will be laying in the nightstand drawer for a while :) Who's it from? Hm, a secret admirer, maybe?
That was a stilted first meeting, but expected. Hopefully their future encounters will help them get to know one another better. An interesting spell Morgaine has cast. I hope it works. Can't blame her for being frightened and protecting her own.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)
We could not expect hugs and kisses, could we? Severus has always been very reserved. And if I were Demeter, I would have been scared to death! But it will get better, I promise. In fact, I have some very cute father-daughter scenes in my head.Let us also hope that Demeter will never need her mother's spell. Then again, you know me. She WILL need it.Cheers. /M
ruh roh! Trouble ahead, I bet. At least Demeter made a good friend who will help her. It seems that Morgaine has made a good friend too.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)
Tons of trouble. I like trouble. *cackles*As for friends: good friends are rare and they need to be chosen carefully. In case we do not meet again before the holidays: a very merry Christmas to you, and a happy New Year.
Why is it that I suspect Lucius has some unholy plan for that little girl?
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of Always By Your Side)
Let me see... Because Lucius Malfoy never has had a HOLY plan in his entire life? :PIn case I don't see you anymore this week, I wish you happy holidays!
Response from sinbad (Reviewer)
Happy Holidays to you and yours as well.
