Reviews for Caramel
Oh no, Hermione is in love with Severus Snape, I hope she doesn't get her heart broken.
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Chances for heartbreak are pretty high. But there's a chance for great happiness too... hmmm...
Poor Severus, Oh I do hate that darn Tom Riddle and Bellatrix Lestrange. Poor Hermione, it looks like she cares about Severus more than she realizes.
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Those two are crazy meanies, for sure. But you can't have heroes without villains for them to vanquish...
Oh my good god but that was hot!mmmm... yes. More... please?
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
I givs u teh smylz. and teh moar. and teh evenshual revu respons. ;D
Want...more:D
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
More on the way! *skribbl, skribbl* :D
Best line of the year - "The brazen woman of fantasy was really an awkward girl after all." I really like how this chapter went also. It flowed so nicely, and I really wasn't sure where Severus would do until he finally figured it out himself.
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
It could have gone so many ways, no? As I told another reviewer, writing this chapter was like riding a wild horse. I just tried to stay on and see where it would take me. Poor SS and HG were kind of doing the same. And thanks for picking out that line. Because yes it's so fabulous and hot for them to find each other, but she is still a 17 year old virgin. No getting around that. :D
Gah cliffie - evil woman! Feel bad for each of them in their own way, great way to make both points of view felt.
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
I know, what's with all the cliffies? This is going to be, like, the 4-chapter-long scene. *shrugs helplessly* Thanks!
I think you have certainly made up for that cliffie! Great chapter can't wait to see how things go from here ...
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Whew! *wipes brow* I'm glad I made up for it. Thanks for the sweet review. :D
Xyz•Brilliant! Before I get to the lemony parts I love, I have to tell you that there is one line that made me laugh: ‘Men—of whom I am one, as you’ve so cleverly discerned—are visually oriented people when it comes to sexual matters. And I’ve just been treated to the spectacle of you fucking me seven ways to Sunday.’
Now onto the lemony goodness:
I loved seeing Sunday morning from Snape’s perspective. I even went back to the previous chapter and read what was going on with Hermione, and tried to match them up... kinda like watching two movies frame by frame, side by side.
See what you’ve done? Your story has sucked me in so completely that I have to make a double movie out of it in my head!
I was totally blown away by the warring emotions that were cascading through Severus’ mind. In the beginning he was all about revenge, the more hurtful and embarrassing the better. There could be no way that Potter was not a part of this prank to cause him, the Potions Master, hurt and embarrassment. So be it– tit for tat. Three could play this game.
When Hermione had come to his office in answer to his summoning Owl, he was all set to crush her. What he wasn’t ready for was the cascade if dreams and images, thoughts and memoires that were all about him and her feelings for and about him. He saw her defending him to Potter and Weasley, dreaming about how it would feel to be in his arms, how it would feel to have his lips on her, the two of them locked in embrace, caressing each other... and he finds himself aroused. So unimaginably hard for her. WTF? He is her professor! And She is his student. This cannot, must not happen.
On the heels of this epiphany he sees that he will have to convince her that he is not what she really wants. And it must be done quickly, before he loses his resolve.
When he realized what his efforts– surely they were efforts!– had failed to make her turn away, he had to put distance between them. He had to clear his mind or as surely as Merlin was a Wizard, he would take her here and now and the consequences be damned.
But as fate will sometimes give us what we desire in spite of our best efforts to do otherwise, they found themselves wrapped in each other’s arms and totally swept away by this torrent of want and desire, love and hope. Oh gods, he had told her he didn’t want her to go. And now they were on the sofa, and he was placing soft kisses on her skin, and she swept her jumper and shirt off... and she begin to be afraid at the speed of things... and Severus wisely covered her in a transfigured blanket and held her oh so gently.
The most beautiful words were the last four paragraphs:
‘Hermione,’ he said, assuming his smokiest, most velvety-silken voice and stroking her back through the damned blanket. ‘Don’t be afraid, and please don’t go. This is… astonishing… for both of us. Let’s just sit a moment and then… then we can talk.’ And then, Merlin willing, I can get back to tasting you…
She let out a long, shuddering breath and nestled in to him. Which was what he wanted her to do, of course, though it didn’t make his immediate situation any easier.
‘It’s just…’ she began in a small voice. ‘It’s just that… I’m in love with you.’ And she curled up a little tighter into herself, as if for protection.
He rested his chin lightly on the top of her head and squeezed his eyes tightly shut, his mouth and brow creasing into a grimace. He breathed in the scent of her hair and let out a sigh of his own. ‘I know,’ he said a little jaggedly. ‘I know that now.’
So tender and I can't wait to see what happens in the next chapter. You did a brilliant job on this one!Beth
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Hi Beth! You may have guessed I was writing this chapter with the other one open on my desktop too. It makes me squee that you did that while reading. *does wee jig* Oh, their situation is so COMPLICATED!! But I, along with you and most everyone who has weighed in on the subject, am glad they can touch one another now. Soooooooo intoxicating. Thanks _again_ for being such a wonderful, supportive reader. *glomps & squishes*
Oh, simply wonderful! It may have been the hardest to write, but it was fabulous. So glad he gave in in the end. I was afraid we were going to go through another six chapters of she loves me/she loves me not. I will not give in. blah blah blah.
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Heh! More near misses would have had me a) strung up by a lynch mob or b) talking to the crickets after everyone stopped reading such an irritating story. Very very glad you liked it, D. :D
Brilliant! Well worth the wait. I love all the movement in this chapter--walking around the room, Hermione pacing back and forth from the door to Severus, and back, and forth. And then all the movement on the couch--Mmmm, yummy! And, yeah, Sev destroying his clothes by slicing off all sixty-four (that little detail of the number is brilliant, by the way) of his buttons--wow! [fans self]
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
I know. The buttons! All gone at once. Instant access. *sitz down from teh weak neez* I am so glad it was yummy for you; thanks for telling me so. :D
(picking myself up from melting all over the floor to review)How many synonyms are there for "lovely"!You deserve them all, X 10.A true roller-coaster, but totally believable. I know it's going to complicate their lives beyond measure, but I'm hoping they will complete their bond (Hermione "is" of age at sixth year, iirc), and have that bond with one another to help hold them together over what is still to come. But I can also imagine a scenario in which he restrains his passion in concern for her youth and inexperience, and how that dynamic will color their future interactions, as well.So either way, I'm looking forward to an absolutely DELICIOUS road ahead for them--despite all the angst and pitfalls they must overcome as well.NEXT????
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Hi, gooey melty reader! ((hugs)) I'm so glad you liked it, and I love your assessment of the way things could go between the two of them now. Who knows what will happen?! Well, okay, I do, but I'm not telling just yet. ;P I hope the story continues to please you.
Nice to see Severus knew he was moving too fast. Hermione is worlds of experience behind him and I'm sure all of these emotions are difficult for her to process.
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Definitely good they stopped when they did. He was really just trying to keep her from running away, which he managed to do. And now they can both start the emotional processing, and trying to reboot their blown minds. Thanks!
Well, Happy Sunday morning to you, too!! I actually closed my eyes and *sighed* when I opened the update email and realized that it was Caramel that had been updated. I have read the earlier reviews for this chapter and have very little original thought to add. Just lovely. Glorious chapter. You see, I also thought it was Christmas morning (except my 21 year-old niece is not here), and I also thought this chapter was fabulous, and I also was moved by the swirling emotions, and I also have been waiting for 22 chapters for this moment of perfection, and I also check for updates every day...so nothing new.BUT, Hermione's discovery of her new status as a seductress, however shortlived, was hilarious!!So...baked goods...more of a cake baker really...carrot, banana, rum, triple chocolate death...
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
*smiles at you* Are you so sweet from all the cakes? I am so happy you loved the chapter. Though I have to do a facepalm about the "22 chapters before they even kiss" part. When I started writing this I thought I'd be at this point by about chapter 10. Hahaha! *shakes head ruefully* And Hermione the seductress. *snrk* He was rather ready to be seduced by her, if she only knew.
Oh, you mean thing! I almost thought he was going to be successful in shoving her away... thank God she was spunky enough to call him on it, and thank goodness he relented. Yay! Fantastic chapter, please give us more?
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Oh, I will give you more; count on it! And that was a close call, wasn't it? Of course it would have been Good and Right in some ways if he had managed to drive her off, but ugh. No fun at all! :D
Oh my goodness! This is exactly what I was hoping for but not exactly expecting. Things don't always go how I think they should. His transition from anger to disbelief to passion to common sense to desperation to passion again and finally to tenderness was amazing. And real. And perfect. What a lovely way to start my Sunday. I had to check the calendar just to make sure it wasn't Christmas morning. Thanks for the delightful gift!
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Really, really glad it was just what you wanted. I know EXACTLY what you're talking about--I think most people start writing fanfiction because stories they really like go off the rails for them somehow. So I'm delighted this one is still on the rails for you. Hope it stays that way! :D *squish*
This chapter was amazing! My heart was pounding so fast. I could feel both of their anguish, their desire, their internal conflicts. And I'm glad he slowed down when he did. Otherwise, it might have seemed that he was taking advantage of her innocence.Well done!
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Awesome! Soooo pleased it worked for you. That was quite a ride, wasn't it? Thanks for letting me know how much you liked it; the support is like cool delicious water. :D
Well, I'm glad to see things are working out between Severus and Hermione. I thought at first Severus was going to let Hermione walk out and never return, but I guess the reality of that caught up with him, and he stopped her in time. I'm glad that Severus knows Hermiones' feelings are real.
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Yep, he had to use Legilimency to see it, but there can be no doubt how she feels. Him, on the other hand--how can she know what's motivating him? O.o
That was incredible!
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Thanks! *skips and dances*
oh, OH! OH. First, I squeed so loudly when I saw this was updated, yes I did. Loved it, everything about this chapter. The vulnerability on both parts, the way you described Hermione's mind (definitely the Hermione we know and love), when he crossed the room and so eloquently begged her to stay! The passion, guh, is killing me. Can't wait for more. I check everyday for updates, you know. I do have a question, if you can answer it. Are you planning on following canon for seventh year, ie, is Hermione going camping?
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Thanks! *bounces* *squishes you* *iz relieved it worked for you*Hermione will be going camping, yes. How much time I'll spend on that part of the story (when our protagonists will be separated) is still to be determined. Hope that wasn't too spoilery. :D
Whoah! I really thought he was going to let her go then... Excellent chapter, and still keeping us all in suspense..v evil Can't wait for next update....no really I can't! I'm just going to stay here in front of my PC until you post the next chappie. Kids can feed themselves, cats too....
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Right on. Children and pets need to learn to fend for themselves--it builds character. :D Thanks for the sweet n silly review. *haz reader luv*
How passionate! At last! We've been waiting for 22 chapters for THIS moment and it did not disappoint in the least! Very very well done! I love how coherent thinking becomes more and more impossible for them with every moment in each other's presence ... And I'm so glad he didn't let her leave after all! I'm excited to see how things will proceed from here ....
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
22 chapters--oy! That is quite the slooooowww burrrn. I thought I'd be at this point by chapter 10 or so--silly me. :D Need I say I am very very very glad it didn't disappoint? He just couldn't have left her leave--that would have been... ugh! Thanks so much for sticking with me and for your very kind, very welcome review. :D
The his and hers versions were charming and it was nice to see it from each's perspective. I really like how clear and almost nice Snape was in giving Dean his directions. Well, done.
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Thanks! Some reviewers have thought SS was being a little too unSnapishly nice, but really I think he's capable of not being a total abusive arsehole--particularly when that eternal irritant Harry Potter isn't in the room. (Sounds like faint praise, doesn't it? But I do lurves him.)
WOW! What a fantastic update! I loved it, especially when he dragged her back... mmm...!
Response from corianderpie (Author of Caramel)
Thanks! I am very glad you liked it, o friendly and loyal reader. :D
