I'm a 30 something home-maker, writer and researcher. Harry Potter fanfiction is my passion and my great escape from everything. I am deeply in love with Severus Snape and he is the only man I would ever consider leaving my husband for. I am most fond of happy endings. Life is too full of angst and heartache, my dreams and thoughts need something more uplifting.
I was born in Sri Lanka and have lived in India, Poland and now, obviously the UK.
I love food, so many of my stories will have detailed descriptions of things I'm currently craving. I also love travelling, the arts and crafts, cooking, baking, oil painting, especially the pre-Raphaelites, literature and culture in general. My favourite colours are at present are royal purple, silver, emerald green, true red and fucshia. Colour is like music, it speaks silently to the soul when it needs it most.
Reviews for What Is This Thing Called Love?
Sounds like Ronald has taken over Percy's old position as the Weasley family prat. Then again, 'prat' is too gentle and benign a term to describe his unconscionable behavior. Not that Molly and Ginevra's is any better, but perhaps, with a firm hand and proper training, they might improve? By the way, I liked how Percy stepped up after Ron, once again, made a royal arse of himself... not to mention Hermione's method of dealing with the arse in question. As for Harry, he's made some real strides in terms of maturity and I'm quite proud of him. I don't think Harry will be terribly pleased either when he learns of Ron's latest idiocy.

No, I think Harry will be furious. Especially when Harry begins to see that the meeting came about because he told Ron about seeing Hermione at Snape's house.I think overall though that it was for the best. I think Hermione and Percy meeting was a real stroke of luck.
There's potential for disaster int he next chapter, especially if Severus listens to gossips, before Hermione can tell him what occurred. Although Severus does have a good head on his shoulders, and considering it was Percy of all people, there shouldn't be any major issues.
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
True. And, I doubt Hermione is going to be foolish enough to hide anything of what happened. She knows enough to tell him everything and be yelled at, over hiding things from him and making him suspicious of her and her motives.
Love the idea of enspelling the Hogwarts' kids desserts. That'd sort the little devils out! :)
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
It would, wouldn't it. Though I suppose if the Board of Governers found out it would raise all kinds of ethical issues :)
Fantastic update, well worth waiting for!!!
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
Thank you so much :)
Nice chapter. I like Severus's musings about light and dark. I think it kind of touches upon the binding of magic that Hermione did upon their return and allows Severus to see and acknowledge the changes that have come about as a result.Looking forward to seeing how tea with Harry goes!
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
Thank you. Tea is going to be interesting :)
I so want to be Hermione. But that being said, I am glad that Harry took her olive branch and the two are going to meet. I love how you have captured Severus' inner workings. How he self anolizes and comes to the correct conclusion. The war would not have been won with out him and if he had had his Lily, then true light might never have come into his soul. I can't wait for your next update.
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
Thank you so much. I'm glad you agree. It is hard sometimes to think and see things from his perspective but it has been interesting to try.
I loved the story, but it ended so abruptly. I was sad...

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I'm actually thinking of going back and doing a revision of the ending one day. But not right now :)

I love this story because it aptly explains the reason for unreasonable behavior--the influence of dark magic on a personality. I've never read a fanfic that described this towards Snape and Bella. I love this story because it described a not-so-saintly Lily Potter and Severus' revelation regarding that. I love this story because of the way you portrayed Severus and being a man with faults and selfishness, in contrast to his romantic and generous love with Hermione. It's a wonderful an realistic complexity you've captured in your writing. I wish there was a more satisfying conclusion with Ron.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review. I am so honoured and humbled by your comments. I'm so glad you found my understanding and portrayal of the effects of darkness on people realistic. Yes, I do realise now that Ron didn't get enough of a resolution in the story. Perhaps once I finish Dark Veela I'll write an add-on or something to give him a better conclusion.

I love that they both became birds! It will just be one more things for them to explore together. Another nice chapter.
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
Thank you. I hadn't planned on it at the start, but when I began researching possible animagus forms for them, these just seemed the best.
Glad they both did change. They're forms aare true to them, I think.
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
I think so too. It took me a while to figure out what they would become. It was tough going finding the right match actually.
I found it charming the way Hermione worked so hard to make Spinner's End a proper home for her and Severus.
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
Thank you. I think Hermione is smart enough to know that she needs to help him put his ghosts to rest - even the un-named and undiscussed ones. The house was just one such ghost.
Brings a whole new meaning to the song Come fly with me. :)
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
I hadn't thought of that. How lovely - wish I had, it would have made a beautiful chapter title.
Response from sunny33 (Reviewer)
You could change it. :)
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
No, I'll keep it in mind for another time though, if you don't mind :)
Excellent choices for their Animagus forms. I have always thought the owl embodied Hermione perfectly. Severus' was a bit more of a pleasant surprise. My thoughts for him were still avian related, but I was guessing maybe a raven or a hawk. But I think a Golden Eagle is so much better, and whose traits - majestic, sharp, faithful - describe him to a 'T'.
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
Thank you. It took me a long while to research what form would suit them both the best. This did seem like the best match after a lot of deliberation.
Excellent, I'm so glad they found their animagus form! I look forward to more.
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
Thank you. Glad you approve.
Wonderful as always.I love how you have Snape opening up to Hermione and finding some joy in life.I was kind of worried that he might not change. Both birds fit them perfectly.
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
Thank you. It took me ages to research their animagus forms and find the right ones to fit. I didn't want it to be something common, but neither did I want it to be far fetched or too exotic just because it was doable.
It was really important for me to show the softening of Severus. Love should do that to people, especially when they've not been truly loved before.
Oh how I love this story:-))
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
Thank you so much :) I'm really pleased you're enjoying it. More up soon. Promise.
thank heaven they're finally getting some help. loved the romantic interlude. thanks and mucho smoochies
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
You're welcome. I never wanted to leave the Weasleys out in the cold. I found it quite painful at some stages to make them give in so completely to their darkness, but I really wanted to explore their dark side as well as expose the weaknesses inhernt in all intrinsicly decent people.
I love the weasleys and was sad to see them turning to the dark side, I hope they get them selves under control soon. What a lovely use of the room of requirement, Hermione is brilliant. They certainly needed the time together.
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
Yes, it is really sad to see what's going on with the Weasleys but hopefully there will be some sort of resolution soon. They aren't meant to always wallow in the mire of darkness.
oh dang. already finished what you have up. can't wait for a new chapter... :)
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
More up soon :) Glad you're enjoying the story thus far.
whoa, that was amazing.

Oooh those nasty children! Harry and Ron I can almost understand, but GINNY. GRRRRR. Someone should slap the freckles off her face. LOL. Sorry, I'm a big caught up in the story....which means, I like it!
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
I'm so glad you're enjoying the story, and that you are reviewing it as you go on. I do appreciate the time you're taking.Yes, Ginny is beyond the pale at the moment, and she's not getting better unfortunately for the moment.
Yay! I'm glad that's worked out. No doubt their relationship will be a bit of a roller coaster at times. I'm looking forward to the ride.
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
Indeed. And the bumps are not all caused by Severus being a stubborn git either :)
Response from mimmom (Reviewer)
I'm glad. Severus isn't all bad. I knew that from the first book. I don't think JKR realized it, somehow with all her talk of women like me liking, "BAD BOYS". Snape isn't bad, he is complicated, like most real live human beings. There's good and bad in everyone.
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
I agree completely. And really, if she so liked the bad boy that he supposedly is, I think she would have done more to give him a better end in canon. Dying alone in the dusty floor of the Shrieking Shack is no way to go for such a heroic and complex man.
LOL. Slytherin!
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
Mmmm.... one has to love those cunning Slytherins. They are just so sexy.
That was a mixed bag of reactions. :)
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
Hello :) It's lovely having someone whose work I so admire write me a review. A mixed bag indeed, but one that's giving them an understanidng of how much support they actually have.
