I'm a 30 something home-maker, writer and researcher. Harry Potter fanfiction is my passion and my great escape from everything. I am deeply in love with Severus Snape and he is the only man I would ever consider leaving my husband for. I am most fond of happy endings. Life is too full of angst and heartache, my dreams and thoughts need something more uplifting.
I was born in Sri Lanka and have lived in India, Poland and now, obviously the UK.
I love food, so many of my stories will have detailed descriptions of things I'm currently craving. I also love travelling, the arts and crafts, cooking, baking, oil painting, especially the pre-Raphaelites, literature and culture in general. My favourite colours are at present are royal purple, silver, emerald green, true red and fucshia. Colour is like music, it speaks silently to the soul when it needs it most.
Reviews for What Is This Thing Called Love?
If the Birthday party lessened his dislike of surprises, this must have really sealed the deal. It will be hard to top her recreation of their special trip.Unlike many folks, I really like the Weasleys. And when there are stories where they do really awful things, I like the change of pace, but it just doesn't fit. This story gives a really plausible reason for their behavior, and because of that, it is enjoyable to see them fall from grace a bit, even if it is at Hermione's expense. I am glad that they are getting help, and hopefully they will be able to get through this and maybe even be a stronger family because of it.Incidentally, you are going to have to start the next chapter where this one left off, because I have yet to see any "pretty things and erotic products." And being a sensible girl, I know she didn't waste her money on something she isn't going to use ;)

Hello my dear,I've not really worked out where the erotic products are going to appear. But if it seems that it works with the story-line, you will see them for sure.As for the Weasleys, I don't dislike them completely, I just think they are too one-dimensional in the stories. Their weaknesses are just glossed over. But yes, they will be redeamed, they are afterall a fairly decent bunch of people, just like all of us mere mortals.
I love that speech. I have a fabulous friend whose son takes a ton of performing arts classes and he treated me to this speech while we were waiting our turn for parent teacher conferences. Totally cracked me up.Anyway, I'm enjoying the story so I'll keep reading!

I'm so glad. I've always loved this speach too. It's such a pity that Alan Rickman doesn't get to say it all in the movies.
This is fun. I shall keep going.

Thank you. I'm so pleased it has caught your attention.
I love this story! As someone who has issues with the Weasleys (especially Ron and Ginny) this story was an absolute godsend!I also enjoyed Minerva's spiel about Lily being selfish and manipulative, my dislike for her being second to Ron and Ginny. I always felt Severus' devotion to her was rather... distasteful. Sweet, I suppose, in a rather delusionally obsessive way, but I enjoy his rapport with Hermione much more, especially in this story. Though unfortunately this pairing is considered AU and sadly unlikely, I felt those two just mesh well together (certainly more then that brainless redhead!) The way you write the love and passion between this two characters just about blows my socks off... well if I was wearing them I mean. :)I eagerly await an update!

Thank you so much. I'm so pleased it touched a cord with you. I feel the same way and it really was something I wanted to tackle. Reading canon and the way some of the characters are developed just seemed too easy and neat. The ending especially just seemed to trite like JKR just gave up and tied everything up in a neat bow without giving much thought. Pity because otherwise her vision is amazing.
This was a really good chapter. I am glad that you have started to resolve the Weasley issue. It's about time the Athur took control of his family. Can't wait for the next update.
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
Thank you. It really was high time that something was done to help the Weasleys deal with the darkness.
Happy Valentines Day indeed!!!! Lucky Hermione!
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
Yes, she is a lucky girl to have someone like Severus. It's not been an easy journey for them though.
What indeed? How horrible of them. I'm glad they got their comeuppance and got it quickly. They were truly fools to think their plan would work.
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
Foolish and not in their right minds. That's the problem really. Darkness removes all rational thought processes - Tom Riddle being the primary and most obvious example.
so true Harry... very in-depth soul serching indeed...Can't wait for the next update!
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
Thank you :) More up shortly.
I'm having fun reading your story, please continue.
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
I shall, promise.
Another wonderful chapter! (Vicious little brats.)Given Ron's willing participation and older age, it would be good if he got the same suspension and possible expulsion as Ginny. Men can be just as vindictive as women (which Ron showed), yet sometimes vindictiveness is more easily excused in men. Is it that women are expected to be kind and nurturing and men fierce, and beware the woman that goes beyond her role in life? Or is it that less is expected of men and that men are held in lower esteem? After all, if a boy is good, then what a wonderful boy! But if a boy is bad, well, boys will be boys. If a girl is good, then she's a good girl (yawn). But if a girl is bad, then she's a bad girl and keep away from her!Yes, the magical world is Victorian in many ways, but that's something that's always burned my buttons. In the end, double standards are unfair to both sexes, and it grieves me that the bar is set lower for men without people crying out about it.Okay. Done with the social commentary. Great story! I'm really enjoying it.
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
Thank you. I agree and don't you worry, but the Weasleys are going to get their due rewards for this little scheme.
God, Harry was an utter prat. I really enjoyed seeing Sardonic Snape.
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
Glad you're enjoying the story. Thank you for the review. Yes, Harry's being an arse at the moment.
that was some ritual! i loved the party. i did the same thing for my fiance for his 75th (no house elves to help, tho). great update. thanks and much smoochies
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
Hello and thank you for the review. Glad you liked the chapter. It took me a while to come up with a ritual significant enough for Severus and Hermione to do together.
Thanks for the update! Great chapter as alway!
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
Thank you for the review and the stars.Glad you enjoyed the chapter. I am so pleased you like the story.
Unity sought without the sorting hat singing a song - well done! I like how Percy manages to promote Hermione to Narcissa, while stating let bygones be bygones.
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
Thank you so much for the review and the stars. Yes, well the sorting hat's song has been going on for years. If anyone was eventually going to understand and then take up the banner on thier own understanding it was always going to be people like Hermione and Percy.
This is an interesting perception of Percy and not one that is written about frequently. Actually, I find myself looking at him more sympathetically than I usually do. I'll keep my eyes opened for future updates.
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
Thank you. I'm glad you think so. Percy is so often overlooked and I really wanted to show him in a kinder light. There's just one more chapter to go in the story. Hope you like the conclusion.
So glad Percy's been given the chance to shine in your story! I've really enjoyed reading about his maturity and how events have enabled him to grow and move forward as a person; hopefully Molly, Ron and Ginny will eventually be able to follow suit. All this party needs now to cement a show of unity is Harry Potter's attendance! Well, I can hope... Looking forward to the next chapter, so I can see what happens next.
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
Thank you so much for the review and the stars. Harry's not coming for this unfortunately. I don't think he's still ready for something of that nature. Perhaps next year. x
Nice chapter, but too short!!! I´ll be waiting for more!
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
The next is in the queue :) So yes, more up shortly. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Glad you liked it, despite it's berevity.
Excellent. I like this interesting change between the Malfoys and the Weasleys.
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
Thank you for the review and the stars. I'm glad you agree. Working together is the only way forward. They really have to set their differences aside if they want to avoid another war.
The fact that both Pureblood families - both Malfoy and Weasley - are able to come together under one roof amiably, is a big step in changing political viewpoints of others. Hopefully this won't be seen as a one-off novelty, never to happen again. It's about time the Wizarding world was reintegrated into one society.
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
Thank you so much for your review. Yes, I totally agree. It is time that they worked together, not apart. No, I doubt Percy and Hermione will let the benefits of this meeting slip away. They are really committed to making things work.
*sigh* that was sooo romantic...and rather hot! thanks and smoochies
Response from kittyperry (Author of What Is This Thing Called Love?)
