I live in Virginia with my husband and 2 children. I make pottery, but, thanks to Harry Potter, I have rediscovered a passion for writing.
Reviews for Secret Recipe
I am compelled to keep reading. Which means I'm enjoying the story. Probably enjoying it a bit too much since I was up reading until nearly 1:30am and I have to get up at 6:30am!

It almost broke my heart to write that chapter. Glad it pulled on your heart strings.

Shame on you, this made me cry. You've such a talent for portraying poignant emotions.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
I'm sorry that I made you cry. But, then again, my goal was to pull at the reader's heartstrings, so I will take your tears as a compliment. I hope that the first part of the chapter at least gave you a chuckle.
Oh no! I didn't realize that this was still in progress! Please write fast. In all seriousness, this is a wonderful story. Reading it made my heart ache. I started reading late in the evening and enjoyed it so much that I couldn't stop until I'd reached the end. I have you to thank for keeping me up till the wee hours of the morning. :) I eagerly await the next chapter.

Hi,
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
. Thank you so much for your kind words. You sound like me, I usually choose stories that are quite far along or completed because I don't like to be kept waiting. And I am posting as fast as my busy life will let me. I just got the next chapter back from my beta. I should be able to put it in the queue tomorrow morning, but the poor admins are swamped from the holidays, so be patient. They are doing a wonderful job with the huge work load that they have to deal with. Thanks so much for reading and reviewing.
I seriously think Ron was dropped on his head often as a young child. He's taking advise from Malfoy and Nott? I think Hermione or Harry (via Ginny) should tell Molly about the book. They can then recruit Lavander therefore telling every other witch in Britain.Divorce is hard enough without having someone spelling you into it in the first place.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
Ron is good at things like chess and Quidditch where tactics are important. He would be great in the millitary. But where emotions and others' feelings are concerned, he is derelict in his duties.Even amicable divorces are hard. I have a friend who divorced his wife and they are still friends. But it was still a gut-wrenching process. Luckily, there were no children involved. His current girlfriend, however, has suffered greatly at the hands of her devious ex-husband. And her two children are older and can think for themselves now, so they see him for what he really is. But in the beginning of their separation, he played them like pawns in a chess game, just like Ron did. Sad, and beyond insensitive. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I hate sad endings, BTW, so everything will work out for the best in the end. Be patient. We have a ways to go.
awww.. this made me cry. poor Severus. I just discovered this story today. Can't wait to read more.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)

omg krum? What?! LOL. Excellent. I really should be asleep now but I keep reading. Well, I better not read any more tonight. Kids must get to school in the morning and I must get to work. I just enjoying this way too much.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
Glad you are enjoying it so much, but please don't loose sleep over what's going to happen. The story isn't going anywhere. I know pushing yourself to get through the day on too little sleep can be miserable.

ohh poor Snape! Will he never have anything that truly brings him joy? :( Makes me so sad. Somehow, though, I sense that something better will come of all of this. I am SOO loving this story.

Thanks for your kind encouragement. Keep hope in your heart for Snape. He will be happy... someday.

computer! YAY! The thing that is cool for me about computers is that it puts people with autism (I have a kid with asperger syndrome) in the same place as everyone else. Nobody makes eye contact over the computer, nobody cares about body language and everyone gets misunderstood sometimes. I love talking to autistic people on chats or via email because they always have amazing things to say and a hard time saying them. I am fortunate that my son can talk to me but he's much easier to fathom when he writes things. Anyway, that's what this made me think of. I sure hope they can get these things worked out so Hermione can see her kids.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
I am much better at expressing myself in writing than verbally. I can never think of what to say (a clever come-back, or important fact to back up a claim), but I can usally write my thoughts down in an articulate way. It also gives me a chance to calm down, if things are heated, so I don't say something hurtful in the moment. And it's hard to yell at someone over the computer. ALL CAPS are not nearly as intimidating as someone screaming red-faced and nose to nose with you. I'm glad your son has found the computer to help him communicate and build relationships. That's so important.

interesting! Wow, I sure hope Snape can find something out that will help this situation. Hermione and her kids should not have to go through this.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
I agree totally. This whole scenario got lots of readers riled up. I guess I struck a nerve that lots of people could relate to.

oh silly severus! I hope he gets his head straight soon! He tends to over-think everything. But then, that would be very much a part of him, I expect. He didn't think things through in his youth so he's gone the opposite direction. I can't wait to read more! sometimes I forget to review because I'm so caught up in reading so if that happens, I apologize! LOL.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
No worries about forgetting to review. Lots of people don't review at all, so I am just grateful that you even bother some of the time. Thanks for taking the time. The reviews really mean a lot to me.

wow, that sucks! Poor Hugo. Parents who do this stuff to their kids...ugh. Ron isn't looking after Hugo's best interests.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
I have seen adults use their children as leverage. It is sickening.
Response from mimmom (Reviewer)
Me too! My husband and I work SO hard to do the best things for our kids starting with taking care of OUR relationship. Celebrating 25 years of marriage in June! The fact that we often drive each other crazy then find solutions to problems is what makes it work. We both work at it, we both are willing to think about our own roles in what is going on. So we're together when other families aren't. But even if we didn't end up staying together I think we'd both work keep the kids from suffering.

Wonderful chapter.Feel so sad for Severus.Too bad someone didn't point out to Ron if he needs the book to have a woman love him then what is the use of love.A person could then have anyone or many love him.Waiting for more.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
Your comment about the book and its effect on love is illustrated perfectly by the Malfoys and their never ending sources of amusement! So glad you enjoyed the chapter. More soon. Thanks for reading and reviewing.
Loved the chapter. Firstly, the start and Severus out doing Ron, and Molly and Hermione explaining to Hugo that Severus could be matched to Albus- I've always thought that, actually I even think that maybe he was better than Albus, I'm so glad that you share my view on this point. Next, when Severus describes his feelings about Hermione (oblivious to Ron, SO THICKHEADED!) it was truly lovely. And lastly- Well done Harry!!
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Yes, I agree that Severus had more power than he ever let on. And if he had ever been the master and possessor of the Elder Wand, he would surely have been able to outdo Albus. Maybe even without it. :)And I labored long and hard over just the right words for Severus to use in describing his feelings for Hermione. I'm glad you enjoyed the passage. Thanks so much for reading,

, and for taking the time to review.
I just found your story and spent a pleasant afternoon and evening catching up to Chapter 15. Oh, how I hope that Ron realizes what a collosal arse he's been and decides to both let Hermione go and agree to share custody of the children. He's been behaving like a selfish idiot for years by using that nasty charm to get and control Hermione, to have him win by forcing her to come back and submit to his will would be unconscionable and break Hermione's and Severus' hearts to boot. Not to mention what a dreadful example it would set for the children!Hmm ... about that horrid little book Ron and the Malfoys used. Wouldn't it just be fascinating to see the upheaval caused if witches all over Britain found out about it and how so many wizards have been using it to control and manipulate them?Paging Rita Skeeter! ;)
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
I don't think Rita's ever been married. Who would want her, right? So perhaps she has never experienced the effects of those charms. So glad you found my story. I hope I can hold your interest. I will certainly try. Thanks so much for reading and reviewing.
most excellant! a bit flowerery for Snape but he did say he could stopper death and bottle glory so maybe not.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
I like to think that Hermione touches his heart in ways that Lily never did. But remember, he was trying to illustrate to Ron how to describe his feelings. Perhaps he went a bit overboard for the sake of the "teachable moment."Thanks for taking the time to leave a note.
Still hate Ron.Poor Severus.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
Thanks for reading. I still hate Ron, too. And I want you to feel sorry for Severus so you will be really happy when things improve.
some kind of weird glitch made it impossible for me to scroll down and read all of the chapter. Fortunately, I was able to come back and read it a little later. I'm loving this. Never did think Ron was right for Hermione!
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
I never understood why JKR would pair Ron and Hermione up either. He is the kind of guy who wants a trophy wife. And although she is beautiful enough to fill that role, he would most likely be intimidated by Hermione's intelligence.

Hi
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
. I'm so glad you are enjoying my story. I am still working on it, but it is slow going right now. I have so much going on in RL that I have only four more chapters completed of the ten I estimate it will take to finish. And I am stuck on the one I'm currently working on. I have written several different versions of it, and I am not happy with any of them. So I keep going when I have time, which is not often. I think that is part of the problem, no large blocks of time in which to work. Bear with me. I will finish it some day. I promise. I have invested too much time into it to abandon it, and I love it too much not to finish it.

What a wonderful new chapter! It's great to see some kind of possibility for Ron's consent and his acting halfway reasonably - but oh how bitter this is to be endured from Snape. Poor him! I do hope you give him a chance, though *crosses fingers*.
Author's Response: Don't worry. Ron will NOT end up with Hermione. Trust me. Would I do that to you? Or to my beloved Severus? NEVER!!!
Alcina vom Steinsberg's response: Aaah, there's a good girl! *grins* I hoped and even suspected as much, but there's always the small chance that an author has to follow what the story dictates ;o).
