This was not what Severus expected when he confronted Hermione Weasley about payment of his life debt.
This is my response for the Dictionary Drabbles Fun Challenge for March 22.

I love to write. A dreamer, a creator and filled with wonder, imagination and life. Sometimes I get lost in the other worlds I've read and in some I create. It's all good, I’m in good company.
“Imagination does not become great until human beings, given the courage and the strength, use it to create.”― Maria Montessori
“Our imagination flies -- we are its shadow on the earth.”― Vladimir Nabokov
“Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's coming attractions.”― Albert Einstein

Well, at least he knows now that she's available...and (if he can wrap his mind around the fact) interested... Like this fic a lot.

Thank you. It's the 'wrap his mind around it' bit that's gonna be the problem... hehehehe

Lovely use! The words this week weren't quite as ostentatious as usual so it was easier to read. I think it helps that you throw in other words that are not used as often to maintain the balance.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Repaying The Life Debt)
Thank you. I did pull in some of the words from past lists into the stroy just to see if anyone remembered them. Teehehe

Hermione should have made a move and kissed him when he brushed her lips. She can't expect him to act a lecher and make all the moves!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Repaying The Life Debt)
I know but it was the body angle, or she wanted to see if he would, or she was surprised he did. Don't expect her to remain docile!

Hermione is busy running uphill. I'm afraid he isn't going to get it until she gives up.

Sounds like Hermione is not a Mrs. Weasley like Snape addressed her in the first chapter...could it be the only problem he has is a confusion about her marital status? Wonder how long it'd take her to figure out that was the issue...
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Repaying The Life Debt)
Hermione set him straight about that right off, in a subtle way by saying she preferred Ms. Granger instead of Miss. However, no he didn't pick up on that. Actually, you'll find the answer to this in the next 'weeks' update!

You worked the words in beautifully! Now that (Inspired by you, thanks) I'm writing my own Dictionary Challenge Story, I know how hard that is.
Excellent job. I am really enjoying this story. Snape isn't having a great time, but your readers are! Thanks for the extra scenes!
-Wahoo
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Repaying The Life Debt)
Yeah A fellow conspirator! I am so flattered by your kind words and really humbled that I encouraged you to do your own! Yeah! I can't wait to read yours! Good luck!
That was fun, and I'm glad she found a nightshirt to torture him with. But he really has no idea what she is doing, does she?
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Repaying The Life Debt)
No not yet. Thank you for the review. Did you catch the bonus in the reveiws? Teehehehe
Response from blue artemis (Reviewer)
Wow, I finally found the bonus bits. Poor Hermione. I'm surprised she didn't hex Ron into next week. That was rape, not sex.
i love these words and how you employ them! i even learned something. of course, i love the story, too! thanks so much
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Repaying The Life Debt)

I happened to stumble across this fic today, and I'm so glad that I did! I can't believe what I've been missing out on!I love the worldplay between the two, and your insertion of the dictionary words are amazing! Good job!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Repaying The Life Debt)
Thank you very much. I'm glad you've stumbled in and liked the waters. Don't forget to slip into the reveiws and see the added bonus!
Response from ChrissyJones (Reviewer)
That's really neat of you! Thank you for letting me know -- I enjoyed those snippets very much!
Another lovely chapter. The words were used effortlessly, and it's wonderful how you keep up the academic side while deepening the almost thought-stealing attraction. I'm liking the battle facing Snape; the intelllect versus the hind brain... quite lovely :) I wonder if Hermione gets anywhere close to suffering the same staggering distractions when she's near to him. There seems to be some frustration that she hasn't had a larger or swifter impact upon him, but what about her own mental processes when she's in close quarters with Snape? Does her hand tremble mid-potion?Just one question--and I admit that at times, I can be very thick, but is her apprenticeship and intent on seducing Snape some challenge between herself and Ginny? Or is it something that she has longed to do and Ginny is supporting her in that task? Despite the confusion, I do enjoy this, and I hope that you're scratching away feverishly at the next chapter :DThank you.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Repaying The Life Debt)
Thank you. It's hard to put eveything in when your only writting a short drabbles. (which my beta points out my chapters are growing...) Which is why I started adding in the reveiw bonus. I will have to figure out how to show Herminoe's suffering the same staggering distractions when he's near her. BUt since I'm only showing a snippet of Snape's side it will take a time or two before he notices it. (Only because Her Ninth Week is already written.) But to anser your questions:
Snape passed Hermione as he slipped into his storeroom, their body brushing against each other with the slightest of contact and she inhaled sharply. He paused directly behind her, and looked at her with a quizzical expression before retrieving what he wanted and slipping past her again. As soon as he’d stepped out, Hermione let out the breath she hadn’t realized she’d been holding.
Four, three, two, one, she mentally counted as she finished stirring. She reached out to pick up the stirring rod lying next to her, and their fingers brushed as he’d been reaching for the same instrument. Her breath caught, her stomach clenched, and her heart seemed to skip beating, only to resume in a fierce pounding. “Ms. Granger, the oil must be added immediately,” he snapped, handing her the rod. “Yes, sir,” she answered, hoping that she sounded normal and not flustered by merely a touch of his hand. He made no comment, turning back to his own potion.
Hermione had been so intently focused on the cutting of the squirming little bugs that she hadn’t actually paid attention to him when Snape asked her a question. Irritated, he reached over her to grab the requested bottle, his chest pressing into her shoulder and for a split moment, Hermione’s heartbeat seemed to jump irregularly and she inhaled deeply to keep her hands steady so that the poisons bug wouldn’t bite her. He paused a moment, watching her, his georgics eyes scrutinizing her every carefully forced movement. Breathe, just breath, she intoned as he watched her.

Thank you :D Nice to know that they're both heading towards a meltdown :)
He cannot win, can he? Whatever she wears, she will find a way to be more inticing to him! Thanks for the extra bit. What a way to have a first time!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Repaying The Life Debt)
Actually he's winning - he just doesn't realize it yet. Now that he is actually looking at her, is realizing that she ahs grown up, Hermione could wear a gunnysack and still get his attention. I'm glad you found the extra bit. Nope, not a great way to have a first time.
Let's face it, no matter what she wears he will be attracted !
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Repaying The Life Debt)
Yep, only he hasn't figured that out yet. Teehehehe Did you see the bit in the revew?
I'm still enjoying this immensley! I can tell you're having fun working the word list in because, as I said before, you do it nicely. Cheers!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Repaying The Life Debt)
Thank you very much. I am having fun with this and like the challenge of using words, many of which I don't know, in a story. (be sure to check the reviews!)
Word selection was overwhelming this week, I believe. Had to open another tab with m-w.com, but you handled it well.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Repaying The Life Debt)
Thank you very much. I loved the challenge, but saying what I wanted in under 1000 words = tough!
Too funny girl friend, he really need to consider dating her instead of telling her what to wear.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Repaying The Life Debt)
Yes, well, he's not yet come to that, has he? Thank you for the reivew. Here is some background I think you knight like.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~x~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It had only been three days after the final battle when Ron had made his first sexual advance toward her, the day before Hermione had met a Seer in Middleton Glen. Hermione had simply asked if the woman knew how to find the Creevey house, showing the letter she’d received regarding Colin’s funeral. The woman was giving her directions when it had happened. “It’s across town. Just past the post office, make a left on Dilmore Lane, continue about three blocks,” she said, but then her voice changed, and she added, “Who you are with, you are destined not. Seek above you, the one you respect and admire. Your cloy, obdurate intended will repine for your hand, though he considers himself unworthy. Have fortitude and the life he owes will be requited by your love.” Then she continued as if the moment never happened, “past Willow Street, and you’ll see Pine.” For three weeks, the memory of the Seer haunted her. For those same weeks, Ron perused her, persistently. Hermione kept putting him off, even tolerating his whining, prodding, and finally his tirade about how often Harry was ‘getting it’ from Ginny. Of course that only made Hermione dig in her heels and refuse him outright. So Ron proposed. At a party. In front of everyone. The next morning Hermione woke up to find that the dream she’d been having of being attacked by a bugbear was actually Ron, on top of her, groping, grasping, and slobbering on her body, his penis prodding at her entrance. Needless to say, her first time was quite a shock and not exactly what she’d expected it to be. At least it hadn’t hurt too much. The same morning, Hermione received the owl informing her that she’d been granted permission to take her N.E.W.T.s and her supplemental packet with her study guide. Since there were so many in that year that hadn’t attended Hogwarts, there was a mass confusion regarding the returning students. For anyone, first through sixth years, who’d missed the year of instruction because they were denied admittance, had the choice of being held back a year or receiving extra lessons to catch up on their spellwork and course studies. Those who missed their seventh year and wanted their N.E.W.T.s were provided with the option of tutorial assistance on weekends or attendance at Hogwarts. Hermione had originally opted for the enrollment in Hogwarts, excited to be returning. Since Harry was serious of becoming an Auror, he too had reluctantly enrolled for his seventh year as well, but Ron had only enrolled in the weekend program. However, the Auror training program coordinator had contacted both Ron and Harry, offering them admittance based upon their ‘record of excellence in defeating Voldemort, and subsequent abilities valuable to the safety of the wizarding society in general.’ And it was on that same morning that the Daily Prophet had announced Hermione’s engagement to Ronald Weasley, which Hermione hadn’t even accepted, yet. Not only that, but a very long article by Norman Ditlow describing Hermione’s involvements in the events that had led up to the final battle and her heroics during the skirmishes, filled up the entire second and third pages of the Daily Prophet. The extensive article was well substantiated with quotes from anyone and everyone who’d seen her that day, including every rumor, hearsay and supposition the reporter could dug up, including the fact that Hermione had saved Severus Snape’s life. And since it seemed that the Fates and destiny were focused on her, it had also been on that fateful day that Hermione had found out Severus Snape was brewing potions again. So she opted to owl him, to wish him well, since she had no idea how to approach the man.
I started reading this a while ago, but everytime I tried to settle down and review, something would happen. I've got the kids engrossed in a film on the TV and hubby has nipped out... peace! I enjoyed reading this. The words were blended very nicely, and the worry that Hermione is causing Snape is wonderful to read. Thank you for the good story.

Thank you for finding the time to review. I really appreciate the lovely compliment.
Ooooh, I just knew he should not push her. Nope, Gryffindors are not known for their subtlety, but they sure know how to get around the rules! Loved the extra scene in the reviews, thanks.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Repaying The Life Debt)
Thank you. I'm glad you found it!
Severus really should have known not to take on a Gryffindor, especially a Gryffindor named Hermione Granger. I love how she managed to fangle a dinner out of him!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Repaying The Life Debt)
I'm very glad you liked this. In the next chapter - check the reveiws! Severus doesn't really know what he's up against - or why!
Of the two Jerks, Severus might be winning...Loving this story
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Repaying The Life Debt)
Take a moment to read the reviews - you may find it a bit enlightening... Teehehe Yes, Ron out and Severus is the target.
