Seventh-year student Hermione Granger decides to marry the one eligible wizard who did not ask for her--the horrid but powerful Severus Snape. All is not sweetness and light. Be careful what you ask for. Or, as has been said by many a wise witch, "Marry in haste; repent in leisure." MLC

Care of Magical Creatures recently received two awards on "Secrets of the Dark Vaults," a Russian fanfic site. Best NC-17 and Best Maxi Translation. The Nine-Year Plan was awarded Best Mini-Fic! I'm delighted to be in translation and to please the readers in Russia!

With the completion of Care of Magical Creatures my fanfic output is going to slow way down, but if you want to be sure to know when new fics post, please follow me on twitter. I don't tweet much, but I'll surely tweet that kind of thing.
About Mia
I came to the world of Harry Potter relatively early, after first resisting it because it just seemed too trendy. But when the first book came out in paperback in the US I picked it up at the airport when I was about to catch a flight, and two chapters in knew I would be ordering the original from amazon.co.uk in hardcover as soon as I landed.
I came to fanfic late, waiting until after I'd read DH. That means I've been totally obsessed with the fanfic world of Harry Potter, and most specifically the SS/HG ship, since August of '07.
I'm helplessly and hopelessly hooked.
Reviews for Care of Magical Creatures
I liked this chapter so much because we get to finally see our couple as a real couple - her standing up for him, him coming in the library and kissing her (and the fact that, although they stop kissing, Snape doesn't act like the men caught him doing something totally disgusting, instead it's like, 'yeah, she's my wife' :) ).
What caught me the most was that, as I read that stuff above, it did not feel out of place at all even though this is the first time we are seeing them act like a "real" couple in public. Your transition between what was, and was is between our couple was flawless, and subtle instead of some abrupt OOC kinda change.
Great job making this transition in their relationship so fluid (this of course encompasses taking the last few chapters as a whole to get to this place).

Thank you. I'm glad you pointed that out, because I wasn't sure if I was going to let them be seen kissing or not, and I think the reason was that I didn't want to force it, and I wasn't really sure how it would play out if it happened. But yes, once it did happen, it felt very natural--partly because of who walked in on them, I think. Harry and Ron would have simply HAD to be disgusted, but Charlie already accepted it, and the twins were, well, the twins, and it just made the moment a little smoother, I think.

I should've left a comment long before now. I've been following this story since the beginning and am really enjoying it. Your style is refreshingly straightforward and I really enjoy reading the fast-paced narrative. I'm very much enjoying Snape's general surliness and some of the great plot twists. My favorite bit in this chapter:
"I know what a force he is when he has nothing to live for. I don't
know what it will mean, now that he has every reason to live."
So much punch in those two little sentences. Looking forward to what comes next!

Oh my. I just love this so much! I can't even tell you how excited I was to see a new chapter! The relationship that you have built up between the two of them is beautiful and I loved your portrayal of the other characters in the chapter as well. Well done!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you. I loved bringing them all together that way.

This was perhaps my most favorite of chapters of this brilliant story! The scene with them both caught at HQ and the twins' reactions... was priceless.
I will someday draw this scene. I loved it.

I love the way you had Hermione stand up for him. Great chapter.

She's gonna have to get used to taking care of him after a bout w/the DorkLord and any other of his vengeful "brethren". Nobody better.

She's definitely taking her role as wife very seriously in this regard.

In for a penny, in for a Pound!! I know I'm being sooo cliche, but that's how the story and S/H's predicament strike me. It's crackling good!

Not cliched at all! Thanks for the review!

Hermione was super-sneaky and manipulative to coax Snape into the holy bonds of matrimony. She should have been sorted into Slytherin, but fortunately for Snape, she wasn't. That's how he's been able to trump her while seeming to capitulate to her. She seems to be under the erroneous impression that she's now his, well, Third Master (er, Mistress)???

This is the sweetest chapter! I love Hermione's fierce loyalty, and Severus' softness with her when they were talking in bed. Wonderfully done, as always!

I am utterly gobsmacked at your ability to keep the tension strung so tightly across this marvelous, complex, and moving tale. Hermione continues to learn and grow stronger, inch by believable inch, while Severus is slowly coming to understand how he has been blessed and how he might possibly achieve redemption.
The image of the four faces in the library door, astonished at the power and passion revealed before them is indelible.
Your Dumbledore is also a wonder - exactly the right balance of twinkle, arrogance, mastery, and fear of what he may not be able to accomplish.
You are breathtaking and staggering and overwhelming and . . . fast. And I still wait wth baited breath for each new chapter, you witch!

Well, perhaps now they have settled two issues: the worthiness of your to join the order and the marriage vows. I am glad that Hermione stood up for her husband and reminded everyone else how worthy he is.
I rather think that the boys were more thinking about the kiss and not her wand work when they offered marriage *snicker*
Well done again...more please!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
LOL! That's a good point. I figure a girl would have to have a little extra "sump'n-sump'n" to catpure their attention, and kick-ass wandwork might do it. But you certainly bring up an excellent point!

Most excellent chapter! For so little physical action, I was somehow on the edge of my seat anyway. But hon, I am having terrible thoughts, especially since Hermione acknowledged to herself, what if there were no more anniversaries?
Author's Response:
I know. It scares me, too. Love in a time of war....
A triumph, my dear. Truly a triumph. Thanks so much for this chapter.

That sentence embarrassed me. I mean, I knew it was purple as purple can be, but I loved it so.

Holy shite, Mia - what an end to the chapter!
But now I've got my doubts about the memory of the woman in graveyard, again...
And I didn't mention this earlier, cuz I was reading fast without reviewing, but the idea of making Snape's illegitimate father a pure-blood?
Brilliant!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Well, I have to admit, I did it because I wanted to keep Spinner's End! Just like I made Hermione's parents aristo because I wanted there to be a reason why she could expect to have a cathedral wedding. LOL!

Bella was the woman in the graveyard! HAH! But Lucius is escorting her home?
OMFG.

OMFG, indeed.

Mia, love, only you can make the brewing of a potion sound so naughty and illicit.
The development about the magic between them when they kiss is a very intriguing plot point ...

I love tea. What can I say? And yes, magical kisses. Dreamy sigh.

I"m being bad, now, and reading without reviewing. But wtf???? did she do to Harry?
And what a way to find out you love your husband ...
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
And for HIM to find out. LOL! (And I had to give Ron a heroic moment. It's not his fault that they aren't a good fit.)

She was bloody effing brilliant. And if he keeps on forgetting to go to Dumbledore, what in the world is the headmaster going to think?
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Well, it's no wonder the headmaster didn't like this turn of events. He'd prefer his spy to be unencumbered!
