Seventh-year student Hermione Granger decides to marry the one eligible wizard who did not ask for her--the horrid but powerful Severus Snape. All is not sweetness and light. Be careful what you ask for. Or, as has been said by many a wise witch, "Marry in haste; repent in leisure." MLC

http://community.livejournal.com/sshg_awards/33422.html
Care of Magical Creatures recently received two awards on "Secrets of the Dark Vaults," a Russian fanfic site. Best NC-17 and Best Maxi Translation. The Nine-Year Plan was awarded Best Mini-Fic! I'm delighted to be in translation and to please the readers in Russia!

With the completion of Care of Magical Creatures my fanfic output is going to slow way down, but if you want to be sure to know when new fics post, please follow me on twitter. I don't tweet much, but I'll surely tweet that kind of thing.
About Mia
I came to the world of Harry Potter relatively early, after first resisting it because it just seemed too trendy. But when the first book came out in paperback in the US I picked it up at the airport when I was about to catch a flight, and two chapters in knew I would be ordering the original from amazon.co.uk in hardcover as soon as I landed.
I came to fanfic late, waiting until after I'd read DH. That means I've been totally obsessed with the fanfic world of Harry Potter, and most specifically the SS/HG ship, since August of '07.
I'm helplessly and hopelessly hooked.

Brewing ... indeed!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
It was an obvious analogy. Snerk.
Hmm ... the DL's motives escape me. Still don't like Narcissa, simply on principle you understand. ;)
But I'd take Lucius home if they'd let me.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Well, yes, Narcissa is a tad bitchy.
And Lucius is a tad hot.
So I totally am on board with your reactions.
this chapter was beautiful. The props (goblets, rings, wine) were used to perfection.Well done!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thanks! I'm glad you liked them!
My God, what a chapter!!! That was so intense. wow. I am just in shock. That was incredible. While I can't really get Hermione's reasoning in the last chapter, here...wow. the emotions are so poignant and I just want to kill Albus myself! I understand Severus' pain and I can't wait to see what will happen next! This is just beautiful and the intricacies in this chapter especially are just incredible.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you so very VERY much! I'm so happy that the chapter affected you that way.
"The problem with you, Lucius," the Dark Lord remarked softly, "is you don't realize that the most effective bruises don't show."Holy cow! What a profound statement. And to have Lucius escort her back to Hogwarts!! ::too anxious to comment more::
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Ah yes, those invisible bruises don't heal.
WOW! I love how you involved Myrtle. That was classic.I had to take a deep breath after this was done. There's so much ... just so much!!!brava!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Oh, Myrtle is so much fun to have fun with. LOL! Thanks!
the truth ... *nods knowinglyaren't we all ashamed of that very thing?
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Somebody famous once said, "I don't care what they say about me, as long as it isn't the truth."
Response from DeeMichelle (Reviewer)
amenI think I need an icon for that ;)
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Oooh, good idea.
*happy sigh*Hooch's powers surprised me, and her seemingly snobbish way of repeating rumors. It leads me to believe she has ulterior motives.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you, and as for Hooch... well, you'll see!
Very intriguing chapter! Apparently being a Know-It-All does not mean you know all!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
You make a very good point! Thanks!
Another amazingly agonizing and deliciously detailed chapter that almost stopped my heart! (You owe me anew, keyboard -- my tears are about to short out the one I've been using).
There is so much going on here that I had to read this chapter FOUR times, and reread several others all the way back to the beginning of the narrative, to begin to put all the pieces in some kind of relational order. And still I am not certain -- which is what makes you such a brilliant author. All of the symbolism is breathtaking.
There is the matter of the Elfin crystal, and the Dark Lord's recalling of the story of Abraham and Isaac (there is a ton of information in this, I'll wager).
And then there is "Take," the Dark Lord said, as Severus knelt before him. "Drink." A lot here, too – after all, does not the Dark Lord see himself as a Savior? The symbolism is breathtaking!!!
What of our Severus? Does not this chapter show us how much he searches for forgiveness, salvation, absolution, the opportunity to atone, for acceptance? All his life he has searched for just these things………….
Mia, you are an evil, evil woman. You give us so much tantalizingly beautifully interwoven information as you spin your wonderful tale of magic, healing, and redemption. While I am DYING to know the outcome for Severus and Hermione, I will patiently wait for you to present us more information – because this is your story, and only you can tell it, in your own good time. Another tip of my hat to your literary genius. 100 Points to the House of Madwyn.
I remain your loyal servant,
Beth

What a wonderful and thought-provoking review! And I know it's just the tip of the iceberg of your thoughts here!Re: the "Take, drink..." When Severus fell/knelt in front of the Dark Lord and was given the wine, I didn't plan it to mimic the Anglican Eucharist, even though the Dark Lord said, "Take, drink..." It was only as I was finishing writing it that I realized what happened. I did tweak it a bit after that, but it wasn't planned. As for the Dark Lord--I don't think he sees himself as Saviour, but I think at this moment he might see himself as Sev's saviour simply because he's got so much power over him and is using it to give him a reprieve, perhaps? But honestly, I think it's mostly motivated by the fact that this Dark Lord has a wicked sense of humour and irony. I think he would enjoy the irony of what he was doing, more than see it as any real religious moment. On the other hand I have to admit that there have been times when things happened that seemed not to be important, and later were.(I hope you don't operate on the assumption that I have control of these people. They are totally running with the story and it's all I can do to keep up with them!)Again, thank you.
Very confusing and powerful. In the end - he sold his soul. How sad.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Yes, it has me rather down right now. I'm trying to write through it but it's hard! Thank you for your review.
Are we reaching the story's climax? (There's been quite a few along the way.) This story is truly awesome. :-D
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I think we are....Thank you!
Oh, this was so worth the wait! Oh my goodness. Oh shit shit shit. Fuck, damn, shit, and hell. Oh, man. That's pretty much the extent of my ability to verbalize what I think right now. How twisted...I am in awe of you. Why can't I write like this? Teach me, oh master! Please, please say that 54 is coming soon? I don't know if I can stand it if I don't know what happens. Will he find her? Will he be able to fix her? What about him? Please, please, soon!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
"Oh shit shit shit. Fuck, damn, shit, and hell."
You needn't apologize for your perceived lack of ability to verbalize. Your eloquence humbles me! LOL! Thank you so much! I'm working on the next chapter now....
Wow! What a ride! I have just caught up with the last 20 chapters after somehow having it drop off my radar at another site that isn't blessed with email alerts and bookmarks - truly needed when dealing with a story of this depth and length. I am struggling to describe a superlative that will adequatelely describe my enjoyment of your work and your crafting of this story. While I agree with you that Dumbledore has no scruples when considering the 'greater good' I never thought that I would be cheering on Voldemort (to borrow a phrase from Ron, "Bloody Hell!"). So... Go Voldy! Go Voldy! Especially as he explained his reasoning, his respect for Hermione and his plans for her and Severus . I even felt sorry that all his followers disappoint him! But then again when you surround yourself with sycophants what do you expect? Such courage to break her wand...You Go Girl!I expect the Elfin crystal goblets are an integral part to the story...Yes? No? Won't Tell?Once again "Brilliant!" (By the way can someone get Ron out of my head? )Cheers
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I adore your inner Ron! Jerry Springer reviews rock!!!
And yes, elfin crystal is significant.
Thank you!!!!!!!
That is indeed a twist of evil proprtions. Albus who is working for the light was prepared to sactrifice Hermione to save Harry - For the greater good, but Voldemort was just testing Severus, and... and...I can't go on anymore. Please, please tell me you are going to make it all better??
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I'm doing my best to make it all better!
Thank you for your wonderful review!
If I ever get a birthday like this one from the Love of my Life it will really be proof that God loves me and wants me to be happy!I'm glad that Snape had to struggle with it so much. I'm glad he perservered, even if it was with uncertainty, pounding heart, and trembling knees Things that do not demand a price seem to have no worth at times. And Hermione was so beautifully gracious and loving in return. How good it can be when everything turns out **big sigh**perfect. Oh children, remember, remember.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you so much! I'm delighted that you liked it!

Don't apologize!!! Goodness!Thank you for your wonderful reviews!!!!
what a beautiful scene you set.and having Ron calm her? What's that about? Not that I dont' adore Rod, cuz he's my fav. ((just ask my friends. they hate that I love Ron!)) :)I'm intrigued by her abilities.
Response from DeeMichelle (Reviewer)
uhh ... ignore the fact that I wrote "Rod" please. I adore him, too, but since he's my HUSBAND, it's a bit embarassing to type that instead of Ron.::hangshead:: in shame
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Aw, I love Ron, too! And I think it's sweet that you adore Rod!
Response from DeeMichelle (Reviewer)
*am still embarassed about the typo*
::happy sigh::
short n sweet chapter
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Yes, I simply (snerk) couldn't keep writing. It had to stop there.
OMGThe chapter where he realizes that he loves her. Or does he truly realize it?Inquiring minds want to know!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Well, it's certainly the chapter where we realise it!
I love the use of the word simplied. You used it well, and it made sense.
As for this chapter, I'm scared for her. I do not like Narcissa Malfoy. Simply because she exists.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
"Simply because she exists."I love your use of the word "simply," too!
"Now there's an idea, why don't we just turn her loose on him and sit back and watch and may the best maniac win?" LMFAO
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Hormonal Hermione vs. the Dark Lord.Film at 11.
*happy sigh*You're an evil-cliffie writing authoryou know that, right? I'm just thankful that I can read through to the next and the next and the next
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
::carefully not mentioning that you're highly likely to run out of story and end on an evil cliffie...::
Response from DeeMichelle (Reviewer)
truehowever, I have 40 more chs to go before I get pissy about ithahaha
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
