Seventh-year student Hermione Granger decides to marry the one eligible wizard who did not ask for her--the horrid but powerful Severus Snape. All is not sweetness and light. Be careful what you ask for. Or, as has been said by many a wise witch, "Marry in haste; repent in leisure." MLC

Care of Magical Creatures recently received two awards on "Secrets of the Dark Vaults," a Russian fanfic site. Best NC-17 and Best Maxi Translation. The Nine-Year Plan was awarded Best Mini-Fic! I'm delighted to be in translation and to please the readers in Russia!

With the completion of Care of Magical Creatures my fanfic output is going to slow way down, but if you want to be sure to know when new fics post, please follow me on twitter. I don't tweet much, but I'll surely tweet that kind of thing.
About Mia
I came to the world of Harry Potter relatively early, after first resisting it because it just seemed too trendy. But when the first book came out in paperback in the US I picked it up at the airport when I was about to catch a flight, and two chapters in knew I would be ordering the original from amazon.co.uk in hardcover as soon as I landed.
I came to fanfic late, waiting until after I'd read DH. That means I've been totally obsessed with the fanfic world of Harry Potter, and most specifically the SS/HG ship, since August of '07.
I'm helplessly and hopelessly hooked.

Is it horrible of me to admit in public that I truly love this chapter?
Response from DeeMichelle (Reviewer)
not as much as it is that it left me speechless;)
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I think the moment I loved most is when he was so horrifed that she was going to watch him. I was rolling on the floor when I wrote that. I could imagine his horror and her fascination.

Lord-Thingie-- the eviliest of evil knew the parable about Abraham and the Lord and ALbus-omg I hate him- Dumbledore didn't. Truly awesome stuff here.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I loved that, too. But it makes sense. I'm not sure why Albus would know it, and Tom Riddle was raised in a Muggle orphanage. Thank you for reviewing!

wow, a lot of backstory there. I really enjoyed this chapter. I'm a list-maker myself, so I "get" Hermione's need to sort everything.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Yes, she has a quite desperate need to control/organize. Yes, I identify with that. LOL! I'm glad you liked this chapter.

Oh, I'm pining for them back together again, too. Sigh. I want to get through this part fast. Maybe I could just say, "And then a lot of stuff happens and they see each other and...."Works, right?Didn't think so.Sigh.Thank you for your review!
Wow. That is a beautiful chapter. Re-reading it with a clear head this time and... just, wow. Thank you for sharing this with the rest of us. Amazing. Now fix it.

Slowly. But good work takes time (or so the plumber tells me when I'm paying him by the hour)....snapeaddiction's response: I don't mean to rush you, your writing is breathtaking and worth the wait. Now, back to work.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
::insufferable::snapeaddiction's response: We all have our crosses to bear. snapeaddiction's response: How do I love thee? Let me count the ways... 1, 2, 3, 4, ....... 51, 52, 53.....
Man, this is getting more twisted and morally vague with every chapter. I'm dying to see what happens to Hermione. Looks like she didn't know it all after all. Excellent chapter. Excellent!!!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Morally ambiguous? Me? (Um, yes, I think you've nailed it, haven't you?) Thank you!
wow, wow, wow, and omg wow!!!!this story just keeps getting better and better. Even the word "awsome" is an understatment for this story. I am loving this!!! AHHH!!! I have never cried soo much when reading a Fanfiction before...wow. Please tell me that you are a published writer!!! I am loving this chapter!!! Please, please don´t leave us in too much suspense!!! I have no idea what I am going to to until the next chapter appears!! You are an awsome writing!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Your passion and enthusiasm gratify and overwhelm me. Thank you so much!
In a word... WOW!!! I can hardly express my thoughts. But this was a wonderful, wonderful chapter. I agree with the reviewers that I think Hermione's plan IS working... she's on the right track somehow. I just don't quite get it yet. But I'm sure future chapters will explain it!And boo to evil Dumbledore... well, maybe not EVIL... but clearly with no scruples.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you so very much for your review! And yes, I agree, when Albus believes he's working for the greater good, he has no scruples. That's a very good way of expressing it.
Mia - the characters, their deepth, development, and the twist.......you are making me think of Shakespeare...I am no scholar but this chapter......when we are shaken to our foundations...we will seek answers even from the deepest darkest of waters.....how human...how so deeply human....but just as in Pandora's box even though she unleased the worst evils on mankind.....there was still hope left in the bottom of the box.....and I am clinging to the hope that it was their intent the intent to save ----to save the other that will save them both. I wish I had to words to tell you how wonderful your story has become.....you deserve every word of praise that has been posted and so much more. Gifted gifted child thank you.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
And I wish I had the words to tell you how much your review moves me. Thank you, thank you.
What a powerful chapter. I'm not sure which side to root for at this point.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Severus and Hermione's side. (Well, I mean, I guess you know that!) Thank you for your wonderful response!
holy moly...i was out of breath at the end of this chapter. i think you've written albus spot on...he would indeed sacrifice anyone. thanks so much for this update and i look forward anxiously for the next chapter.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you so very much! I'm working on it now.
Oh wow. I cried my way through this chapter. Dumbledore certainly looks like the evil lord and Riddle looks like the benevolent lord here. I can see and understand why Severus made the choice he did. If I was in his shoes I think I would, too. Brilliantly written.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I'm beginning to wonder why I'd forgive him for turning to the Dark Lord for Hermione but condemn him for doing it for Lily... is it any different? Thank you!
Response from Maddie (Reviewer)
I think so when you find out that the Commander-in-Chief of the Light is not really "Light." Severus basically presented his set of facts to both sides and Dumbledore wanted him to kill his wife and expects him to literally die for the cause. Not just that there is a chance he will die, but it appears that Dumbledore will ensure that he dies. The Dark Lord, when presented with the facts accepts Severus back into the fold like he had been a wayward son, cures him of his soul damage, explains how impressed he is of Severus's wife, elevates her status in front of the Death Eaters, states that Severus may keep her, and vows to help him find her and promises to cure her, too. Hell, I would be looking at Riddle as a savior at that point. What does Severus have to lose? With Dumbledore he loses everything, his wife and his life. Those are really the only things he has, or had.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Well, when you put it that way, maybe I should let Severus kill Dumbledore and--Wait. Hasn't that already been done? (Snerk.)Thank you for so totally understanding his dilemma. And most especially, thank you for your thoughtful, wonderful response.
WOW!!!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you. (I hope that's a "good" wow!)
WOW!!!!!!!!! And that is coherent as I can express it. I don't think I have read something this impressive in 3 years. Not in fan fiction, not in store bought fiction.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
You've just blown my mind. Thank you!
A dark chapter to be sure! I can't say I've ever been one to enjoy the dark part of stories.... but I suppose this had to happen. I also hate dumbledore right now. Grr. The emotion one can draw from this chapter is very vivid though, dark and evil, yes, but also just burning to be felt. I think this is definitely one of the best parts so far.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I've been dreading this part of the story, tearing them apart, and will do my best to get through it with as much speed as I can, but certain things now have to happen. Thank you!
I just love this story so much. I pray it doesn't end badly for our lovers as so many fanfics are recently prone to do. For being the omniscient old man portrayed in other stories, Dumbledore doesn't seem to have a clue as to how upsetting his use of Hermione's chair was to Severus. Or, perhaps he does? Maybe he was trying to force Severus's feelings out?Hmmm....? Poor Hermione! She's so distraught over having made an unbelievably difficult decison and despairing that maybe it was the wrong one. Is it because she's been riven from Severus that she now doubts herself? I can't wait to see where you take this! Update soon!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I think Dumbles is attracted to gaudy objects, and her chair covered with cabbage roses is pretty darned gaudy! Thank you so much for your lovely review!
These last two chapters have been somewhat difficult to follow because you are taking us on the ups and downs of Hermione's and Severus's darkest hours, and showing us through their very disjointed emotional state. It's an amazing ride! I'm so curious to know where you are going next. And when this story is over, I would dearly love to know how you conceived this idea, how much of the plot was clear to you at the beginning, and how much discovery you made on the way through this tremendous story.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
If people are really interested, I'd be glad to talk about it on my LJ blog. Although sometimes maybe it's best not to know!
Thank you so much for your review.
Response from Prof M McGonagall (Reviewer)
I'd love to read about it on your LJ blog. I'm really interested in your writing process. I understand about the "maybe it's best not to know" part. That's why I was thinking perhaps it might be better to wait until you've finished writing.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Oh yes, definitely when I've competed the story, I'd be glad to answer questions and/or write about the process. Thank you so much for being interested!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Awwww, thank you!
Wow. I feel like I'm on a roller coaster. I can't even imagine where this is going, I am just hanging on and hoping for a happy ending:)Excellent as always, quite up to your usual standards:)Warm regards,Fizzabella
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you. Hanging on and hoping for a happy ending--that describes it pretty well, doesn't it? I'm pretty much doing the same thing at this point!
