Seventh-year student Hermione Granger decides to marry the one eligible wizard who did not ask for her--the horrid but powerful Severus Snape. All is not sweetness and light. Be careful what you ask for. Or, as has been said by many a wise witch, "Marry in haste; repent in leisure." MLC

Care of Magical Creatures recently received two awards on "Secrets of the Dark Vaults," a Russian fanfic site. Best NC-17 and Best Maxi Translation. The Nine-Year Plan was awarded Best Mini-Fic! I'm delighted to be in translation and to please the readers in Russia!

With the completion of Care of Magical Creatures my fanfic output is going to slow way down, but if you want to be sure to know when new fics post, please follow me on twitter. I don't tweet much, but I'll surely tweet that kind of thing.
About Mia
I came to the world of Harry Potter relatively early, after first resisting it because it just seemed too trendy. But when the first book came out in paperback in the US I picked it up at the airport when I was about to catch a flight, and two chapters in knew I would be ordering the original from amazon.co.uk in hardcover as soon as I landed.
I came to fanfic late, waiting until after I'd read DH. That means I've been totally obsessed with the fanfic world of Harry Potter, and most specifically the SS/HG ship, since August of '07.
I'm helplessly and hopelessly hooked.
Reviews for Care of Magical Creatures
Of course. He has to make CORRECTIONS! ...HER PARENTS! OMB... ...So surely no dentists, hm? But I love it. I love the whole chapter. To get something straight: I'm not a person who loves simply every story; or every story that got my favorite ship or character for that matter. So you can me believe when I say that this story is with a very high certainty the best one I've read in a long time. And I've read a lot. And some truly good ones. Severa
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you for not being upset that I veered from canon here. I just couldn't think of anything new to do with dentists, and this seemed so perfect for Hermione!I truly do appreciate your reactions and your reviews, and especially, your kind words. Thank you.
I have to say you're creating some awesome work here. This may well have been the best chapter so far.I laughed a great deal... And I love Sevi's speech to the Slytherins; it's really like they are a lovely small family. As if saying 'The world can crumble around us, we still have each other. It's wonderful.Severa
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you! I think it takes more than nasty prejudice to hold Slytherins together. They must have tradition and some way of caring for each other, if their school connections continue into adulthood as we see that they do.And I think they'd be all about tradition.
OMGOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!WONDERFUL! WONDERFUL!! AMAZGYLING WRITTEN!! I LOVE IT!!! how in the world do you do it? each chapter gets better and better than the previous one!! I envy you sooo!!!! i love your style of writing and how the story is comeing along!! I really don´t want it to end!!!! hahhaa But i HAVE to KNOW what happens next!!!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Your enthusiasm is faaaaaaaabulous!!!Thank you so much, and I promise, you'll know what happens next soon!
Ah... Again I have to stop at the most inopportune moment...I very much approve of Hermy wanting to live up to his standards - even if they are practically not to be lived up to. And the shaving soap! Brilliant! Out of curiosity: It would have been possible for her to magically grow the hair back, wouldn't it? After all Harry did... On the other hand he acted on instinct. But there has to be a spell, doesn't it?Really just wondering...But it would have been funny for him to grow them back! I wonder what a style he'd given her...Severa
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
That's a good question about growing her hair back. Yes, I think you're probably right; there certainly should be a way. But it was nice of him to protect her from having to do so, especially since she's such a thorn in his side!Thank you so much for your reviews. I love revisiting the story with you!
Burning his sheets! You got me there again... A real highlight...Very nice 'conversation' with Lucius and Voldy as well.Severa
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Once I thought of it, I couldn't imagine how protective somebody would have to be of loose hairs and such in a world with polyjuice! Yikes!Burning seemed the only practical way of dealing with it!
'A dark-robed figure stood there, leaning against the wall, watching her.' "What are you doing here?" he demanded hoarsely.Oh yes, I can SO see him standing there... I very much liked the interaction with Nicolas in this chapter; really cute.Severa
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you! I think he's very protective of his charges! And as for Sev, oh yeah, I can see him standing there and hear him too.Mrrrrow!
My goodness, what a chapter! And despite being rather long it had such a tempo to it; I'm nearly out of breath! But, oh, what lies in store for poor Sevi now???Severa
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
This is the chapter where things stopped being so funny; I knew it was coming and hoped (hope-hope-hoped!) you weren't disappointed! Thank you for your review!
So she is going through the pregnancy without potions. Morning sickness is terrible. I will never forget. Severus is still a tortured soul. He is not going to do something stupid like leave her, is he? They cannot live without the other.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Well, I can't answer your questions w/o spoilers, but the next chapter should post in a day or two, so you'll find out.Thank you so much for your review!
YAY! I was thinking about this story today, in fact! YAY!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Oh, what timing! I'm thrilled that you remembered it enough to think about it, and that I was able to have the new chapters ready to post. Thank you!
Holy Crap! There's MORE?!!!!!!!!!! That's AWESOME! And a new chapter is already in line? FABULOUS! I'm curious though as to what Harry and Snape are nighmaring about... I know what I'm doing this weekend...
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Yes, there's more! Although I wibbled a lot when I realized how many people thought it ended in the last chapter, and wondered if I should stop writing, if people would really want to keep reading about them. But they do have things that need to be settled, and so yes, there's more. Sixty-seven chapters, total.Thank you for your wonderful response!
OH, I'm so sorry she's having such a rought pregnancy. Boy of girl? I'll vote for girl.I was deeply touched by the moment with Ron. Hopefully, his visit will be the first of many as the relationship/friendship heals as much as the connection between Severus and Hermione. I was still surprised that she and he can't be parted physically, but hopefully that too will become easier.I was deeply sad to read that Harry holds bad feelings toward Severus. I hope in time that too will fade and he'll come around. I'm trying to remmeber jsut why he'd have such strong anger/resentment toward Sev. Hmmm. well a back track isn't out of the question.I'm thrilled that Ginny his hearding over the boys to revise for their NEWTs. Good for her!Ron and Pans - cool.and Hermione has a project, (besides Sev) Whoot~This story is really one of the great ones, destined to be a classic must-read-fanfic of all times! Hugs~ I really have loved it and will be sorry to see it end.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Oh, Bea, your words mean so much to me! Thank you, thank you.Severus and Hermione have been isolated but yes, I do think this is the beginning of them rejoining the world around them, and Ron has been the most open to accepting them in this fic, so it just felt right this way.Again, thank you.
OMG! You updated....YAH! Squeeled and did a happy dance. Such a good read.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you! You make me want to squeeeeel and happy dance, too!
So sad to see the end coming! Awesome chapter! Much love!!!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I've shed many tears over ending this story, but I think you'll like it. Thank you so much for still reading.
I'm glad the next chapter will come quickly. Pant, pant.Great stuff, as always.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you! Yes, it's all written and ready to post. The end is near.Thank you so much!
Nine lines into the chapter and I'm already laughing out loud again!...You gotta be kidding me! How can I stop now! You should really add a warning to this story: Makes utterly addictive. Severa
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Addictive! I love it!I hope you didn't wake anybody up with your laughing in the middle of the night, though! (wink)
She analyzed it! ...'I see. My lack of scruples is yet another jot in the ‘for’ column. Fascinating.'I'm rolling on the mattress right now! I can just imagine his tone! ...I say it again H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S! And I can't stooop!!! Severa
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Reading your reactions to the first chapters of this story is amazing fun. I wrote them so long ago, and love when somebody new discovers this story, it means so much to me!Thank you!
H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S! I haven't read anything so wicked in a very long time!If that is going to last for the next - what? - 62 (!) chapters I am one happy person. I really would have to go to sleep now (it's 3 am and I need to get up early) but I don't think I can sleep without another dose of this...Great work!Severa
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Oh dear, I kept you awake! I hope you didn't suffer too much for it.Thank you for sharing your reactions with me!
YOu know, I was thinking about you since a couple of weeks. I'm sooooooo happy for this update and the fact that we won't have to wait too much for the remaining chapters. And if I'm guessing correctly, there will two months covered in each chapter, which means it'll finish for Christmas or New Year'Eve. Just perfect.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Well... I'm not saying whether you're guessing right or not.But I'm truly grateful that you're still reading, even after my posting rate slowed. From this point forward, the end will come quickly.~hugs~
It's been a heck of a ride, hasn't it? I was sorely tempted to rush over to OWL and read this there, but decided to try and be patient and finish it off here, where I've been reading it from the start.Wonderful chapter. And I liked the whole part with Ron - both his perceptiveness regarding Hermione's condition, and the surprise he managed to give her about his woman of choice. I do hope that whatever Hermione is planning will work and the Law will get dissolved.Very much looking forward to the rest of the final chapters.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you! I'm loading the chapters as fast as they can accept them, and the only thing slowing down the posting at this point is the length of the queue--and of course, this is such a popular archive, the length is long! But the complete story will be here, and I know you've been with me from the beginning. Thank you so very much sticking it out.I like Ron. Always have. And I think after so many months without seeing her, he truly would be looking at everything, trying to make sure she's truly okay.
Very nice, the story does seem to be winding down. I'm not at all surprised that Ron noticed the pregnancy.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you! It didn't surprise me that he noticed, either. I like Ron, always did, even if he was a prat from time to time. Most teenaged boys are!
Good chapter, except for one point that needs clarification. Did Severus say he could use infant parts for potions? Or did I misread that?
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Of course he said he could use infant parts for potions. Hermione knew better than to take him seriously. (wink)Thank you!

this was a very exhausting bithday for dear sevie, wasn't it?but it has to make up for so much.It was about time, they had such a healthy day. you really gave us a show, magnificent! This wedding-ceremony and the Dogmatic, and muggle-spirituality and religious magic you bring in here are very sparking and a welcome point of philosophy and bring in a touching way of regarding life and the things that happen between the two, so un-earthly.and it came back when the memory re-entered.wise thought.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you so much. I'm especially glad that you like the spirituality aspects. I find them fascinating and think the Anglican/Catholic/Orthodox churches still have a mystery and mysticism that most Protestant churches don't, and I liked exploring that a bit in the fic.

some birthdays shall last forever.all people involved do their best do make it last.even some Mrs. Hooch, and Parvati and Lavender by their positive action or reaction. every detail is so full of love, you really take care of everything, up to the detail of your style and writing talent.the second present, the billowing robe, I was laughing with her! sooo sweet. Is Monsieur Worth his tailor? He is taking very close looks at his lady, yes indeed. reaching as far as a variety of Olives and Champagne and anything.the most interesting revelation in this chapter is at the end, the "First-name-mysterie, the philosophie about who is a friend, and her concern"very considerat. and nice of you to reveal the secret.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I'm so happy that you enjoyed Hermione's birthday and especially that you took time to let me know. Thank you so very much!
