Seventh-year student Hermione Granger decides to marry the one eligible wizard who did not ask for her--the horrid but powerful Severus Snape. All is not sweetness and light. Be careful what you ask for. Or, as has been said by many a wise witch, "Marry in haste; repent in leisure." MLC

Care of Magical Creatures recently received two awards on "Secrets of the Dark Vaults," a Russian fanfic site. Best NC-17 and Best Maxi Translation. The Nine-Year Plan was awarded Best Mini-Fic! I'm delighted to be in translation and to please the readers in Russia!

With the completion of Care of Magical Creatures my fanfic output is going to slow way down, but if you want to be sure to know when new fics post, please follow me on twitter. I don't tweet much, but I'll surely tweet that kind of thing.
About Mia
I came to the world of Harry Potter relatively early, after first resisting it because it just seemed too trendy. But when the first book came out in paperback in the US I picked it up at the airport when I was about to catch a flight, and two chapters in knew I would be ordering the original from amazon.co.uk in hardcover as soon as I landed.
I came to fanfic late, waiting until after I'd read DH. That means I've been totally obsessed with the fanfic world of Harry Potter, and most specifically the SS/HG ship, since August of '07.
I'm helplessly and hopelessly hooked.
Reviews for Care of Magical Creatures
I thoroughly enjoyed this chapter.Stockholm syndrome, indeed. That was a good one, Mr. Snape. With what grace Hermione ended this little tea party. Priceless.Pity you didn't describe the impact Hermione's appearance made on them - or is this yet to come? I suppose there is a reason that you (or was that Voldemort?) ordered Lucius to accompany her home.

Oh, I can take no credit for what the Dark Lord does! (Nor would I want to!)
Thanks!

And yet another fascinating twist, which is quickly becoming redundant in this wonderful story. You are taking me places I never thought about in my “what if” moments. Obviously, I am hoping he will break out of the imperious curse and before he is responsible for hurting anyone of importance. I wait with baited breath for the next installment. As always, thanks for sharing, JoAnne

What an interesting aproach to the Dark Lord's machinations you chose. This would distinguish your fic from all the other MLC fics - wouldn't the unique way you write, your choice of style and the way you can convey the feelings of your characters have already distinguished your fic from all the others. The comb is quite a clever device - and so suitable for someone with Hermione's hair.I have no time to elaborate on this chapter. I have to go and read about the Malfoys' response to the "new" Hermione.

Thank you! I'm glad you like my Dark Lord. He's... different. I have kind of been astonished, watching him develop!

I love Hermione's impassioned speech to Dumbledore. I just hope Severus is able to snap out of it and prove her right!

Thanks so much! I'm sorry I didn't get back to you sooner but I've been writing the next chapter. Whew! Finished it today (though it needs work).

No worries! I'd rather have you writing the next bit than worrying about answering me. :-)

Wow. This chapter really set up the parallel between Dumbledore (Light Lord?) and Voldemort (Dark Lord...) very well. I must say I'm very interested in what Bella must have done:"Bella was no healer" it's a very sinister line, sort of what would be used in a psychological thriller of some sort.
I must say too I love how you have used Luna, she is far too undervalued most of the time, I don't think I've ever read of her frowning, but you didn't take away any of her whispy luna-ness.Alright, well as ususal I'm desperate for the next chapter.

Thank you for all of your comments. I really do love reading them. And yes, the two masters are spinning webs.

Ooh, Mia, how you tangle these threads. You are a master-weaver indeed. I am struck by the tension of Severus and Hermione attempting to discern the other's moves in the absence of concrete information. And how will love override Imperio? *please, let love override Imperio... *whimpers

Thank you for reviewing. And thank you for continuing to enjoy the ride. I know it's getting hard, but soon, very soon...

Again, quite a lot has happened in this chapter. We have learned that in order to have tea with the queen one has to look like a frump. We now know that Lady Granger wears Chanel and her daughter's secret dream was to raid her closet.
But - most astonishing - that Rolanda Hooch is not just a Quidditch jock. That Snape likes to sleep near to Hermione we already knew, but it's always nice to be reminded of it.I'm really enjoying you story, just in case you couldn't tell.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
LOL! I wouldn't mind looking frumpy (and in fact, would be very good at it) if I could have tea with the queen. However, I'd rather sleep with Severus.

So it is Snape - of all people - to recognise that Ron has a bigger emotional range than a teaspoon. The magic between them is getting more tangible. You are doing a great job on building this up.

Well, who else other than Lucius to send. Even if he doesn't trust him. After all who could completely trust Lucius.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Ah, yes. Lucius. He's a quandary, isn't he? Thank you for continuing to follow the story and review!

I really laughed when Hermione used her TMI to get away from the situation. So she really knows how to use her "feminine wiles" to manipulate the boys - just not the way Snape thinks she does. They really have to be on the lookout for everything they do, don't they? They can't even be carried away by passion. Stupid monitoring spell. At least they still have tea.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Yes, her TMI! I'm so glad you picked up on that. LOL!
Response from apisa_b (Reviewer)
Well, actually Ron picked that one up.

I can't believe that it was really a month ago when I stopped reading your story with this chapter. But what a good start to continue reading. Lovely. The style you chose conveyed the feelings of both characters really well.

Oh another great chapter. I adored Luna in this one and her calmness. I grinned when Ron not only blerted out that the Patronus couldn't be from Hermione then worried that she hadn't eaten enough. I nearly applauded Hermione chewing out Dumbledore. I'm really worried for her. I think she's heading to Severus - into the Dark Lord's circle. And Bella, she healed herself? gads. Good update. Next?
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you, thank you! I do love allowing Ron to be smart and still be Ron, and Luna is a joy. These are the unexpected delights I have when I'm stuck in this morass of Severus and Hermione apart!

"at least I'm not pregnant"the simplest way to explain pain.and he helps her in the simplest way. his presence and warmth. he can give.wat a long but loveyl nigth.except for the harsh ending. but thats the way it is when being married to a deatheater.and he starts to like this "dangerous" fctivity called kissing. it's about time.interesting theme about who should have been sorted where.so he sees something higher in draco. basicly good material going to waste. interesting.

You're right, it was a long night, but I liked where they ended. He is finally dealing with her appropriately, despite his desire to keep his distance.

so he is swallowing his pride and gets her back, not only back but right in his /their bed.was this legilimens necessary? it seems he understands in what hundred ways he had hurt her in only one week.and he is going to heal her. first by trying to share, then by having to handle a real injury all by himself. you are doing fine work here. he is almost to be called tender. gentle. almost.sigh, "there's a light" *singing*
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
From his point of view I think the Legilimens was necessary because he simply didn't trust himself to interpret her reaction correctly (and for good reason, the prat). Of course it was a horrible abuse, but from his pov, justified.
