This is a full-length Book Seven fic. Cliffhangers and unexpected twists abound, but don't look for beloved characters to die tragically before your very eyes--Fawkes_07 is all about redemption. Written for young readers but hopefully fun for all.
I'm printing out a version for my kids in book format--I even found all the right fonts and everything. Hence the "artwork" in the chapter headings. What can I say, I'm more of a ceramics person than a drawing person.
Can I note with pride that "Heirs of Slytherin" was just chosen as a Featured Story on MNFF? *glows*

Someone who really, REALLY ought to be doing something else, but just keeps on writing.
Wondering why my stories take forever? Have a look at My Other Time Devourer: www.willametteartcenter.com I'm both the webmaster and the president of the Friends of the Visual Arts, a 501-C3 nonprofit in Salem, Oregon. We Put The Fun Back In Art.
Having 2 sweet little boys tends to drag things out too.
And what the heck, as long as it's self-pimpage time: If you just can't wait for the next chapter of Fair Ex, you can always go buy my book. It's not HP or fanfic but it's got that Fawkesy snark (in spades) It's here: www.turondo.com Warning: there's a bad word in the title.
Reviews for Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin
I really like the story of how the brother wands happened.
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
:-)
I just realized I was on the 4th chapter. Really engrossing story. I just kept reading!
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Cool! Glad you're enjoying it!
Their relationship is so odd. But I really like it.
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
It is odd. And it's about to get even odder in 30...
Awww! How sweet! I like that Tura and Sirius are kinda getting alog now. And that Harry likes her...
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Yah, they seem to be sorta drifting that way, don't they?
That was a sweet chapter.
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Thanks! I just read it to my son and he didn't like it so much--he got confused in several places. It had been so long since we met Elias Ravenclaw, he had forgotten about him and couldn't figure out what a Ravenclaw team member was doing out on the pitch during a Gryff-vs.-Slyth match. Argh. It didn't help that baby brother was climbing all over us and chattering while we were trying to read it, either...
Great ending to this fic i will be eagerly awaiting for the next story from you!
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Thanks! Well, there are a few more cooking out there.
Alright, I'm sorry it took so long -- having a bit of a drama IRL. I assume what you were aiming for was "the king of dreams?" Let me know if you were looking for something else. What you WANT is "Βασιλευς ονειρων" Basileus being singular and nominative, oneiron being plural and genitive. Hope that helps -- if you need any help with Greek/Latin in the future, definately feel free to ask!
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
No problemo! Actually, what I wanted was "Fortress of Dreams," or "Realm of Dreams." Comments?
Response from Aurenna (Reviewer)
Try: "Φρούριο ονειρων"Fortress of dreams. ;-)
Response from Aurenna (Reviewer)
Oops. I meant:
Φρούρος ονειρωνMixing up ancient/modern, sorry!
Well, at least he's sleeping. He was quite stupid to go after Peter, but I've always thought that.
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
He'd had a bit of a rough day, I think--wasn't necessarily thinking too clearly.
WOW! What a chapter!! Some of the stuff you wrote could be very good explanations to certain questions concerning the night the Potters died. Awesome work, Fawkes! I had to read it twice to get all the details... can I give you an '11' rating for this chapter?
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Awwwww... "It goes up to 11!" There's still a bunch of questions to go--in particular, who set that trap in Sirius's memory, but it will all come together in the end. It's a bit of a bummer though to write an 11,000 word chapter and get one review on it. I guess this isn't really the best site to post this particular story on.
Response from mmesnape (Reviewer)
Are there better sites where people actually take the time to review? I had a story at FF.net, over 115,000 words in it and barely got 90 reviews in all. The feeling of 'bummer' is right on... maybe people are just too clueless, ignoring the fact that reviews are an author's only means to validate what they have done. A simple 'way to go' may seem empty to some, but it means the world to an author... it shows that someone was actually happy to read their piece of imagination. I wrote little after that experience, left me with the feeling that my writing was awful or something. Bleh! My fault for actually letting others rule what can be deemed worthy to read. When i write now, i do it because i want to see my ideas on paper. Please, don't stop writing.... I'm here to read good stuff!I'm sending you hugs of encouragement, hope it helps. GO, FAWKES, GOOOO!!!
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
awwwwwwwwww...Thanks!I was just feeling grumpy--had a tummy virus all day. Now that I've been able to put away a little soup, I'm already cheerier. TPP is one of the best spots for feedback--the hit-to-review ratio everywhere else I've posted doesn't even come close to here. Besides, ultimately this story is for my son, who gives me all the positive reinforcement I need every time he laughs at one of my jokes. The way his face lit up the other night when he caught on (all by himself) to what Tura was doing dangling the snitch right there in the middle of a Quidditch match made my day.
Response from mmesnape (Reviewer)
Awww! What would we do without our kids? I love my girls but they, unfortunately, don't like HP. *sigh* My eldest still doesn't get my little crush on Snape... and his lovely billowing robes. *gush* (now I'm cracking myself up... HAhaHAha!!!)
Lol... well, that's one way to exausht a person! And someone tampered with Sirius's memories -- more so than they did with Hagrid. I bet you it was Dumbledore. I'll bet Sirius was right about him -- the Potters were bait, and the end goal was Voldemort's demise.
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Maaaaybe, maybe not. You'll have to wait and see! ;)
Wow... Sirius would kill Harry? James's son? Why not just raise him to be wary of Dark wizards and Dark magic? That way he couldn't possibly be a Dark wizard. And it doesn't take Dark magic to be manipulative and have "plots inside of plots" -- just ask Dumbledore. I wonder how Harry feels about all this?
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Well, remember, he was specifically thinking if Voldemort had possessed Harry--I think he's already worried about some sort of Horcruxy concept. Voldy just killed his best friend--I think if the only way to get rid of Voldy was to kill Harry, he'd do it.
That was cool. I liked that chapter quite a bit.
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Thanks! 27 is in the works...
Go Harry, go! Make Sirius feel better! Find out about those papers! Make it better!
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Oh, it's never quite as simple as that...
I'm working on the Greek (don't have my dictionary here, will get back to you tomorrow), but may I suggest just mobiliaurum for your spell? Aurum is nominative for gold (which is what you're wanting, really), aurium not being..well..anything. Unless you're talking about more than one coin (I skimmed, didn't read properly), in which case I recommend mobiliaura for the plural. Makes sense?
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
*nods sagely* Thanks. Aurium is the modern technical name for elemental gold but I hadn't thought about the fact that the "ium" ending on most metals was a fairly recent change.
Go Harry! And Percy is such a simpering syncophantic bureaucrat. Hee. Good chapter.
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Yeah, but Percy's trying. He's a jerk, but it takes a Big jerk to admit his mistakes.
Yikes! A rather intense Harry-chapter... great show!! I don't know what Harry will find, but its going to be big. (my personal vision of this) I am super-eager to know what happens next. Excellent chapter!
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Thanks! 26 will be up soon and it IS big.
They Put Voldemort's body in James Potter's coffin? WTF?!!! I'll bet it was Snape or Malfoy that did it.... Wormtail wouldn't have had time... or would he? Poor Harry... I don't know how I'd feel about that... Some sadistic, morbid fanatic digging up my parents and replacing my father with thier murderer! That was bloody brilliant, by the way. I never would have expected that...
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Well, you never hear about Voldie's grave, or body...it had to go somewhere! Ah, but who done it is the question, isn't it? And why hide it?Hee hee hee. More to come.
WHAT! Oh, this is the most EVIL CLIFFIE ever! Good Job!!!!!!!!!Next chapter please
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
In a few days...I gotta slow down the postings so I can write more...
OK, that was spooky. Really cool, but spooky. I can't wait for more.
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Nothing quite like the old graveyard at night routine.
Sweet mother of God!! Voldemort??? I wasn't expecting that at all... guess Ondossi and Harry weren't either. Wow! What does it all mean? Can't wait to see the next chapter. Cheers!
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Yay! Thanks! I always wondered what happened to Voldy's body back in the day, and this seemed like a logical thing...
Response from mmesnape (Reviewer)
I hadn't thought about it... well! This could be a possible outcome for canon. Good job, as always....
Oh my. I would have liked a little bit more by way of conclusion, but as the story goes it was great. I'm sure I'd have more to say if I weren't completely swept off my feet, but in my current state that's it. Toodles!
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
*shrug* I liked leaving it a little more open-ended for people to fill in the details. What more can be said than Snape got the girl? ;)
Ack! The drama, the action! Snape was Tura's 'Angel,' after all... I'd been wondering that back in the beginning, when she mentioned Occlumency and all that. Fortescue, pah! This is tremendously exciting to read.
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Yeah, a lot of people seem to guess Snape before they get to the chapter, although I tried to keep it mysterious. Glad you're enjoying it!
HA! I KNEW IT! The high-pitched laugh, the important but slimy, repulsive scoundrel, it had to be Umbridge! *Maniacal triumphant laughter*
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Someone once suggested it should have been Arthut Weasley, that would have been a major surprise.
Errgh, I wish I spoke more Elvish! Lith- means grey or ash, but the other half of Fawkes' name, -pelos, I never learned! Curses. Extremely cool, though. Every chapter just gets better, and this one left me on the very edge of my seat! It's just amazing!
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Thanks! Pelos = egg (IIRC)
Funny! I kept having to stifle giggles. And poor Dobby. I think Harry learned some useful lessons.
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
That was my hope for him...
