This is a full-length Book Seven fic. Cliffhangers and unexpected twists abound, but don't look for beloved characters to die tragically before your very eyes--Fawkes_07 is all about redemption. Written for young readers but hopefully fun for all.
I'm printing out a version for my kids in book format--I even found all the right fonts and everything. Hence the "artwork" in the chapter headings. What can I say, I'm more of a ceramics person than a drawing person.
Can I note with pride that "Heirs of Slytherin" was just chosen as a Featured Story on MNFF? *glows*

Someone who really, REALLY ought to be doing something else, but just keeps on writing.
Wondering why my stories take forever? Have a look at My Other Time Devourer: www.willametteartcenter.com I'm both the webmaster and the president of the Friends of the Visual Arts, a 501-C3 nonprofit in Salem, Oregon. We Put The Fun Back In Art.
Having 2 sweet little boys tends to drag things out too.
And what the heck, as long as it's self-pimpage time: If you just can't wait for the next chapter of Fair Ex, you can always go buy my book. It's not HP or fanfic but it's got that Fawkesy snark (in spades) It's here: www.turondo.com Warning: there's a bad word in the title.

Trying, trying--too much to do!
Way cool! I love the drama, the intrigue, the web of deception. Seriously sub zero my friend! Write faster! ;)
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Thanks! Trying...

BTW, I got onto Peredhil. He was always a good healer (especially healing wounds caused by dark weapons) but he's a ways from home isn't he? Or did he stop by Grimmauld Place on his way to visit Mithrandir? I think it's cool to cross authors like that. Fanfic at its most diverse. :D
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
He's definitely come a long way to the East, but I think he knows when he's desperately needed...
So Peredhil isn't real? Or just, nobody say him? Maybe he's a creature -- like a half-Pheonix thingy? But I'm glad everyone's alright! Draco IS alright, isn't he?
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Hee hee hee, Peredhil is a crossover. I'll give you a hint: his name doesn't really mean "half-blood" but "half-elven." And yeah, Draco will heal eventually, though it's amazing what a little Phoenix Fire will do to a Dark Mark...
Oh, dear. Werewolf and full moon. But I like the way Draco and Harry are interacting.
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Well, what can I say, my son will gobble that up. So to speak.
...... odd...?
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Or even, whichever.
Good way to bring Draco back into it.

That was a good chapter, I liked it quite a bit.

Thanks! I was worried this was too whiny. I think Harry deserves a bout of depression, though.
Harry was wrong for assailing her. Tura was wrong for blaming him for all of his past instructors' malicious intent. Quirrel and Lockheart brought that on themselves by threatening him, and I highly doubt that they meant to do more than disarm Snape in third year. Harry never even touched Crouch Jr, so Tura doesn't know what she's talking about there. And Snape told Harry to do whatever he had to to get him out of his mind. After Umbridge forced Harry to write hundreds of lines in his own blood, illegally dosed him with Veritaserum, AND tried to Crucio him, HERMIONE led her into the forest -- Harry wasn't even keen on that plan. Sixth year Harry didn't mean to slice Draco into ribbons, and Snape gave as good as he got -- perhaps even better, as Harry wasn't able to land a single hit. Good story -- update soon!
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Well, people do and say stupid things when they're angry, don't they? The two of them have a bit of talking to do, when they both cool down.
Wow. The whole hitting her thing was the most disturbing for me. Not the daughter of Riddle thing, or the killing thing. These last two chapters were the most intense ones for me, the day had started off with so much fun. I really did like them quite a bit.
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
That seems to be how it goes for poor Harry.
Oh dear! This is going from bad to worse for Harry... Talk about a guilt trip she has just laid on him. Why didn't she tell him about her affiliation with LV? And why did Harry react so violently toward her about it? Maybe I'm missing a piece of the puzzle here. But Harry does have problems he needs to resolve and fast... maybe a little anger management course would help? Maybe not... What a mess! *cringe*Good job as always, Fawkes.
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Well, I think Tura would feel uninclined to share her heritage for the same reason Lupin doesn't wear a sign saying "I'm a werewolf." Prejudice, undeserved distrust, etc. As for Harry's reaction: I tried to enunciate it a little bit with the conversation with Dumbledore. She'd kept this secret from him, and Harry has shown in previous books that he's DAMN tired of being left out of the loop. And rightfully so--Dumbledore admitted that Sirius's "death" was his fault for keeping Harry ignorant in the hopes of somehow "protecting him." His temper was already flaring up because he couldn't understand why this woman who obviously wanted him was shoving him away, and then when he found out her "little secret," it was that "I know best so I'm going to leave you hanging there by the short-n-curlies and then spring the truth on you" routine again. He just lost it. Plus the truth is pretty darn ugly, especially considering all the importance people in the Wizard world place on bloodlines. I mean, does he really want to get close to the granddaughter of that horrible, sadistic Gaunt he met in the Pensieve? The niece of Morfin, Parselmouth from Hell? Not to mention the daughter of his nemesis--how could anything good and honest come from the scion of Slytherin? How indeed. There's still more to the story...
Response from mmesnape (Reviewer)
Ok, I get the picture now. Thanks for explanation... do you have the feeling that we might something in that very vein in JKR's last book? The boy has been left hanging high and dry for so long, chomping on the bit, somewhat neglected by the Order... treated as a tool, rather than a potentially strong and useful member and wizard? I'm a bit worried about his fate, specially after the last scene in HBP. The kid is woefully under-prepared to face this deadly nemesis. And let's face it, Dumbledore won't be there to send him a lifeline...Oops! Sorry to shove my concerns on this thread, but your story does bring out those potential flaws in the next book... A good thing though, your story does push one to consider these questions about the next book. Good job, great writing, Fawkes!
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Thanks! That was exactly what spurred me on to write this, actually--I wanted my kids to have something to read in which Harry not only SURVIVES (which I'm not sure JKR will have), but also comes through in a more cooperative setting. Lone heroes are an idea whose time has long past, in my mind.
Oh__my__GOD!! That last bit was a bit of a shocker... and then he tries to choke her? Then slaps her? Why on earth, did he do that? I've got to read the next chapter... pronto!
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
I don't think he was necessarily trying to choke her, he was just so angry he wasn't paying attention to the strength of his grip. He'll be thinking aloud about his reasons in the next chapter.
Oh how wonderful! I really like Tura! This story is simply amazing!
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Thanks! Can I just say that the little cheerleader icon cracks me up every time I see it? *sporfle*
Um, yeah. OK. That ending was a bit strange and I think out of character (for your story). And a bit cheesy. I did like the rest of the chapter quite a bit, though.
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Gak... Cheesy? Really? :( I wanted to portray Harry as someone a LITTLE more slick and mature than the fumbling boy who nearly had a coronary about kissing Cho Chang and then went groveling in public with Ron's li'l sister. And when I tried to imagine what he might get Ondossi for Christmas, I came up blank--she's too into subsistence living to want things. So he had to think of something sweet and meaningful, that would impress her with thoughtfulness, not expense. And that seemed like the kind of rakishly romantic maneuver he might have picked up from Sirius...
Response from blue artemis (Reviewer)
Sorry, that isn't how it felt to me. And I really liked the rest of the chapter. But Harry is still only 17, and the whole key to my heart thing seemed over the top. More romance novel than the rest of what you were writing.
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Well, shucks. I was trying to avoid that very bodice-ripping sort of thing, too. Well, if it's any comfort, things are about to turn VERY dark there, so the notion of romance novelism is about to fly out the window.
*Gushes* He gave her the key to his heart... Ooo! How cute is that? But on a side note, what the heck is that 'thing' in Sirius' mind?? Creepy...Good stuff, as always... Cheers!
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
No one's quite sure yet, but whatever it is, it's gotta be Dark...
Nice chapter! Ok... are Harry and Tura getting sweet on each other? (How old is Tura anyway?) A connection of some kind is occurring, how will it affect their relationship? And that 'thing' in Sirius' mind? If its Dark Magic, who put it there and is it sucking out his magic?? Ahh the questions this poses! Can't wait to see the next chapter. Cheers!
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Tura's 10 years older than Harry, but that won't be general knowledge until later in the story. And things do seem to be stirring between them...Who put it there? Heh heh heh. All in good time.
Response from mmesnape (Reviewer)
Evil, evil Fawkes! Lmao! I promise to be patient until then... *twiddles her thumbs*
Poor Sirius! What happened to his magic? This is a sad outcome since being freed from the Veil. Will it come back? Or has Sirius sustained irreparable damage? Is it really Sirius? Unless, the Veil absorbed and kept his magical core? Oh the questions this problem brings up!Good chapter, keep them coming.
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Answers will come in good time...
Bloodletting? Poor Harry. I hope they get Sirius fixed soon. I love Snape, but I do enjoy me some Sirius.
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
You're gonna love Ch. 26 then...
Aww! And Viktor! Will Hermione try to date him, or will Harry? *waggles eyebrows*
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Sigh... now there's a thought. Too bad I'm writing this at the PG level. *slashy thoughts of Seeker on Seeker* EEEP!
That was a good chapter, and I love the ending.
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
*grin*
YES!! He proposed!! Goody, goody... one good thing has been done. But what about Petunia and her last good deed? That was quite a reversal of opinion and attitude. Good thing too! Harry got his parent's wands back. Will they be important to the plot though? Hmm...
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Re: Wands: time will tell, and in this case it will be a short time.
I'm so gldad that sirius is back. and harry has a baby to take care of! how cute! remus is taking too many liberties... james and lily were at the top of voldemort's list too, right along with him and sirius for being james's friend. harry can handle his own for the most part, and the plan was actually a really good one and well executed.
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Yeah, I think Remus is straddling a fine line. On the one hand, yeah, it WAS well executed, but on the other, it was an act of direct disobedience AND the breaking of a very recent promise. I think Lupin, as the Alpha Male of the Order, has a really strong need to be the one in charge--part of that inner wolf leaking out. So when Harry acts in a defiant way, it really spurs Lupin to take him down and teach him his position in the pecking order. And I think Harry really needs that, to be honest, because he IS a loose cannon, so used to having to handle everything himself or with just R & H, that he automatically assumes he's on his own in every circumstance. With Heirs, I'm trying to steer Harry et al into what I personally think is a more realistic approach to defeating Voldy, in which people work TOGETHER, not just sit around waiting for Harry to shoulder the job all on his own, or at best with a little help from R&H. Eek, I'm giving out spoilers on my own fanfic, but you get the idea. :)
This chapter sure answered my questions... Poor Fawkes! He's a ravenous little thing, isn't he? But babies will do what babies do. Cry-feed me, cry-change diaper, cry- play with me, etc, etc... ;)Good chapter. Will Remus propose?
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Exactly. Baby immortals must be even worse, you know? As for Remus--you'll find out soon enough. He's a bit distracted at the moment.
That was so sweet. I'm glad Sirius is back.
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Me too. I like the old pooch, even if he is mean to Severus.
It worked!!!! That was a great chapter. Good for the trio. I like when they can work together.
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
Me too. That was my favorite part about Godric's Hollow.
Wicked stuff! So much has happened but where to start? A)Where is Hermione? B) Is the baby bird Fawkes? C) Why is Harry sobbing? D) Is that really Sirius? On their side of the veil??Can't wait to see what happens next. More soon?
Response from Fawkes_07 (Author of Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin)
A) She's in the rubble somewhere, same as Ron.B) It pretty much has to be Fawkes--who else blows up and then turns into a baby bird?C) I think Harry's a little overwhelmed by all the activity.D) Sure seems that way, doesn't it? :)I have the next 2 chapters done and after that, it'll depend on how fast I can crank them out.
