Reviews for An Act of Love
Wow excellent, my dear. Just the tonic I needed today. Thanks so much for updating.Truly
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
Thank you, Truly, for reviewing! I am very happy you enjoyed the chapter.
This is a very heartbreaking story you're weaving here. Especially since I gather from the tone and setting of it that this is perhaps your explanation as to why Snape killed Albus. You're doing an excellent job in drawing me in.
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
No, thank goodness; although I am referencing the end of HBP to some degree, this is not why Snape killed Albus.
I hope that the story continues to please. Thereis at least one more chapter to go, possibly two, depending on whether I decide to split them up.
Thank you very much for your review. I'm glad you are enjoying it!
Response from Goddess McG (Reviewer)
and I'm kinda glad I guessed wrong
This chapter has to be the hardest one for me to read yet. There are so many thing that make me want to reach out and hug these characters, which is a true testament to your writing skills. Never did I think I’d really feel any sympathy towards Snape, for any reason, but you’ve shown me that maybe I can “tolerate” him a little better. Hey, if Minerva and Albus can, I can as well.
I think this chapter was harder to read because of the images you invoke with Albus. When he’s standing in front of his mirror and realizing that he’s an old man and won’t make it much longer and then him telling Snape to help Minerva find pleasure in the situation, it really touched my heart. He loves Minerva so much that he’s willing to see to it that she’s somewhat at ease with the situation and Severus’ attentions but yet he’s also a bit jealous. I loved that he couldn’t remember the last time he’d read her poetry and that he was upset a little by the fact that when he returned to the sitting room, Minerva’s cheeks were flushed.
Minerva is another matter entirely. I feel so sorry for her and nervous at the same time. Based on her chat with Albus in the bedroom and the brilliant way you worded everything, I am left with a feeling of unease. I have no doubts that she’ll return to Albus after all this is over, but what sort of feelings will she be left with in the end. She’s already admitted to guilt and fear so I can’t imagine what will be going through her mind both during and after her encounter with Snape.
All in all, this is a fantastic chapter! It’s been tough reading the Minerva/Severus parts but that just goes to show how remarkable you are at spinning a believable tale. I’m definitely looking forward to more.
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
Thanks very much!
You are right; this is a difficult situation for all three of them. The title of the chapter, as you may have noticed, could refer to any of them.
I'm glad I've been able to evoke some sympathy for Severus. He may be a "nasty bastard," but he is suffering, and even through the haze of the spell, he realizes that Minerva is burdened by the spell, as well, and that even Albus is not unaffected.
Thank you very much for your thoughtful review!
Oh, this is very good. Excellent in fact. I look forward to more.Truly
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
*grin* Thank you, Truly! I hope to get the next chapter into the queue this week.
Wow. As soon as you PMed me, I came to find this, which (though not what I was expecting) is very well written and if you let me know when the next chapter will be up, I will read it. I like it so far, anyway!xxStellaxx
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
Thanks for reviewing! I hope you enjoy the rest of the story. It's sort of an experiment for me. I hope to have the next chapter written next week.
Aww, poor Snape can't get a deal. Cursed to recognize his feelings, thinking Minnie can't return them and then acting so pathetic. It's delicious! Albus's reaction was good, too. Great start. :D
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
Thank you! Poor, pitiable Snape . . . groaning and sighing all over the place! I want to finish and have the story uploaded in time for the close of the Challenge on April 27, so you shouldn't have too long to wait for the next chapter.
Great response to the challenge. I really like how this is unfolding. I have only read a couple of well done MM/SS fics, and I think this one has the potential to join those. That's a fabulous spell that created and I love the reaction it is having on Snape. I look forward to reading the next chapter.
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
Thank you! I'm glad you like the spell -- I think it still meets the parameters of the Challenge, but with a bit of a twist. *grin* I hope you continue to enjoy the story. The benefit of writing it in response to a challenge is that I have a deadline to meet!
As promised, I read every single word and I survived. I have to say that I am most pleased that it was so awkward and less touchy feeley in description as her encounters with Albus or even in the 'exploration' stages leading up to the final act. It helped me to look at it from a different perspective, for which I am grateful.Once again, HUGE HUGS to Albus in this chapter. Knowing what was about to happen and trying to distance himself from it as much as possible broke my heart, though I understand his reasoning. I think Minerva could have handled his feelings a lot better than she did (and maybe the epilogue).I'm happy to know that Minerva put a stop to his idea of attempting to give her oral pleasure. And I wasn't amused when she kissed his tip....ohhh noooo...but oh well LOL. And can I just say what a BASTARD Snape was after he woke from his nap. I don't blame Minerva for slapping him. He's lucky she didn't hex him or remain in the bathroom until Albus returned. That would have served the git right. I don't care what his motives were, he had no right to speak to her as he did especially after all he'd put her through those last few days. GRRRRRR doesn't even begin to cover it.You did a great job with a difficult challenge and I can't even begin to tell you how much I am looking forward to the epilogue, when Minerva returns to Albus. It will probably break my heart but at least Snape won't be around constantly to interrupt a few moments of a heart to heart chat.Hope you post again soon!!Ang
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
Yes, bastard Snape returned with a vengeance there, didn't he -- as though all the pent-up nastiness from the previous five days all spewed out at once. And Minerva is forgiving. After all, he did apologize and recognize that what he did was really bad -- before the spell, he probably woudn't have bothered apologizing even if he'd thought he was wrong. And he did have some nice things to say to her afterward.
Oh, and Minerva didn't kiss his "tip," but his shaft, and only very, very quickly. (I had a feeling that, given your antipathy toward Minerva having relations with anyone but Albus, that move would probably bother you -- but it just came out as I typed, and I didn't change it! LOL)
Thank you SO much for continuing to read every word, despite your discomfort with certain aspects of the story. The epilogue will be slower in coming, but will be up in a week or two. I think that will satisfy your curiosity about what's up with Albus and how he and Minerva will deal with the whole event. We'll also see something of Severus, of course.
Thanks for reviewing!
Response from HogwartsDuo (Reviewer)
Ahhh...gotcha. Thanks for clearning that up for me. However, she could have kissed the tip of HER FINGER and placed it on his cock and I still would have cringed and shuddered. Minerva's "special" kisses should be restricted to Albus and his body parts, nobody else's. LOLAnd do we really have to see more of Snape????? Can't he just sulk quietly in the dungeons while Albus and Minerva TRY to rebuild their relationship? It would make it so much easier...for me at least LOL.
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
Sorry, dear, but we will see more of Snape. Can't help it. The spell did hit him, after all!
since i'm on the review bandwangon, i figure i should comment on this lovely gem which i also just recently got to.i really enjoyed this story so far - i admit ss's admission were getting highly annoying at times - i can't imagine how you managed to keep it fresh...but i suppose that put us in mm's shoes therei really love the idea for this storyi do hope you don't write ss out at this point - i'm not sure how much more you hav eto go here....but i do enjoy the friendship between ad and ss and i'd like to see thatbut most of all i really like where you're taking this now with minerva feeeling less okay about what's happened than she's let oni'd be interesting in see ing how she copes with itand how albus helps her cope with iton multiple levelsoh and chpt 14 was seriously one of hte hottest things i've read in a while and CERTAINLY the hottest MM_AD i've ever read !! wow ....abosultely wonderful......oh give me more of that and damn i hope those two get it on like that in RaM as well (eventually!!!)oh and what brilliance when we find out (along with severus! - such wonderful narrative style!) that MM and AD are marriedexcellentplease update soon!xx
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
So glad to know you found and enjoyed Act of Love, too! And Severus is not gone, nor forgotten! He's a focus of the epilogue, and most of the sequel, which is about a third written, I think, is from his point of view. It's a bit . . . different. Sort of a cross between RaM-style and AAoL-style, but with something different tossed in. I'm pleased with it so far.
If you'd like to read a more "adept" Snape, you could check out "Heat," which is not set in the AAoL universe.
Glad you liked chapter 14 -- I was a little nervous about how it would be received, but I figured that with adequate warning, anyone who didn't like that sort of thing could skip or skim it, and it appears that a lot of people did enjoy it. So that makes me happy! *grin*
Thank you for the lovely review!
I do love Severus's warm fuzzy feelings- peace on earth, good will to men and all that. It made me laugh, as did Hermione's wink and grin a few chapters back- is there a HG/SS in the offing? I do hope so! Anyways, I'll be looking for that sequel, as I've enjoyed this story greatly. Toodle-oo!
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
I'm glad you enjoyed it, livi! The sequel is Death's Dominion, which is up here at TPP. It's different from An Act of Love, and more suspenseful. BTW, if you like the SSHG-ness, there's a whiff of SSHG in the An Act of Love epilogue!Thank you very much for the review! I really appreciate it!
*snip*It was quiet for a moment, then he heard their voices again, too softly for him to make out what was being said. Perhaps they were through. He should go into his room so they wouldn’t find him here when they emerged from their bedroom. Severus sat up, but then he heard more moans. Gods, couldn’t they stop? Albus was moaning . . . or saying something. There was a wet sound and more moans. It was quieter. Maybe they were through. But no, now they were both at it. Severus was now suffering from a new difficulty. He no longer felt sick; he felt aroused. He could bear it no longer and fled the room as quickly and quietly as he could, taking care to close his bedroom door behind him – softly, though he doubted they would notice if a marauding hippogriff ran through.*snip*Oh that poor, sullen, emo, /goth boy ... the art of lovemaking takes a great deal of time ...
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
LOL! Yep, he had a lot to learn! Poor lad!

Excellent Minerva and Albus chapter. Their time was well used, and more. Wonderful. I really look forward to the next part.Truly
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
Thank you, Truly! I'm glad you enjoyed it. They did use their time well!
The next chapter will be a bit in coming -- busy and I will be out of town for a while. But the chapter is underway, so it will be up!
Thank you for your review!
How odd that after all of the stirring emotion in this story it is Hermione's simple offer of friendship that brought a tear to my eye. It's going to take a lot of my will power to wait until the weekend to start reading the sequel. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you do with DH.

WHEW! What a passionate chapter! I adore the way she has Albus claim her (or perhaps re-claim her in her mind). A beautiful loving chapter, that was beautifully written. You are the master of ADMM fanfic .....
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
Thank you! I'm blushing here! I'm very glad you liked it.
It's nice to see them enjoying one another again, though it's kind of bittersweet, knowing that Albus' days are numbered.
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
Thank you! I appreciate your review!
I like the bits of hope you're weaving in here for Severus' future.
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
Thank you. (Of course, DH may dash all our hopes, but we will see soon! And there will always be fanfic!)
Wow. You handled that scene very well. Excellent contrast not only to her encounters with Albus but also to the previous explorations she had allowed Severus.
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
Thank you very much! Actually getting to the "deed" was a little more difficult than Minerva anticipated, given her growing comfort over the past few days, but she was still determined to have it be a decent experience for Severus.
I hope you continue to enjoy the way the story progresses and the way in which the characters deal with what they went through over those five days.
I greatly appreciate your review! I look forward to your thoughts on the next chapters!
Is "Death's Dominion" the sequel? If it is, I'm definitely going to start reading it soon. Well, reading the summary, I'd probably start reading it anyway.
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
"Death's Dominion" is the sequel -- I didn't post the epilogue to AAoL until I was ready to begin posting the sequel. It's very different from AAoL. It has a deliberately nonlinear narrative structure, and rather than following events closely (as in AAoL, which covers only six days, aside from the epilogue), it doesn't tend to have a day-by-day or week-by-week narrative of events, although after the prologue, the first nine chapters are in chronological order, though there are flashbacks through Severus's memory. There are essentially two main story lines, and the prologue serves as sort of the axle around which they turn. Or the prologue is the hub of the wheel and the chapters are like spokes around it. Eh, my metaphors aren't working for me today. But I think you'll like the sequel. I hope so.

I love the little detail that you mention a couple of times in this chapter about how tactile their magic is, that they can feel it when they are together. *happy sigh*And of course I got a goofy grin at Minerva confirming that Hermione has quite the crush on Severus.
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
Yes, Minerva is very aware of Albus's magic, particularly when they make love, though at other times, too. (If you read the sequel, you would do well to remember this detail. *wink*) And, of course, Albus feels hers, as well.Oh, yes, Minerva sees that quite clearly! haha!

If Hermione winking at Severus was priceless, then him telling Dumbledore about it was doubly so. Poor Sev wishing he'd live to see Hermione grow up made my heart ache and then melt.
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
Yeah, that just kinda slipped out, and Severus regretted telling him. Poor Severus . . . in the sequel, he goes through a lot, but there's hope for him, even though he doesn't see it himself.

OuchOuch! I guess it was too much to ask that Severus try to leave with some dignity intact. I'm so very glad that he came to his senses and they parted on good terms. And I can just imagine Hermione writing in needing advice for getting Ron's attention. What a hoot!
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
Haha! You caught that in the agony aunt column! I hoped it would amuse. ;)As you say, at least Severus came to his senses, and quickly.

Oh, I love the interplay between Hermione and Severus. Although I shipped him first with Minerva, I'm a shameless SS/HG fan, and I like seeing them like this.

*grin* I was hoping you'd enjoy this chapter. I started out in HP fanfic after finding some really good SSHG fics, and up until I started writing, I'd say that at least three-quarters of the fics I read were SSHG. I'm glad you enjoyed their interactions here! (I read almost no fanfiction any longer -- I find it interferes with my writing. I thought I'd be able to start reading again after finishing Resolving a Misunderstanding, but I still haven't finished Death's Dominion, so I'm still on my restricted diet of fanfic! lol)I don't really ship Severus and Minerva, though I have read a couple nice SSMM fics that I enjoyed. (I don't consider this as an SSMM-ship fic, because there's not a real relationship between them, other than their deepened friendship.) The only one I can think of at the moment is "Auld Acquaintance," which is over at OWL. I enjoyed it.Thanks for reviewing!
Response from WriterMerrin (Reviewer)
It definitely isn't a happy SS/MM fic, but you do a good job with their friendship and the odd situation you've placed them in.
