Reviews for An Act of Love
Hi, dear!Wow, that was a really strong story to read! So many emotions... and very well written! I admire you so much more now! It's not mere flattering, I'd like you to know that what I see is a woman who has lived or at least observed many aspects of life. Thank you for doing it all. *Marina
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
Well, thank you very much! I am at a loss as to what to say. I am very glad that the story and writing impressed you so much.
Thanks very much for your review. I really appreciate it!
very intresting and well done story and a different point of view on Minerva as well.good job
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
Thank you! Glad you liked it.
Lovely update! I can't wait to see what the sequel contains...it should prove very interesting, as everything that you post is! Great work dear, and I hope you continue to feel better!
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
Thank you very much! And I'm very glad you have been enjoying the story! I appreciate your review.
The last scene with Albus and Minerva has such a bittersweet quality. While all is well between them after the difficult days they have just gone through, there is also a sense that Albus is saying goodbye. With the cursed hand and the Unbreakable Vow, the final outcome is already determined. At least he will leave her with the sweetest memories he can.
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
That is certainly what Albus thinks . . .
Thanks for reviewing! I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter.
Response from Hypnobarb (Reviewer)
Of course, this is fanfiction. You could change that outcome...
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
In HBP, Severus was not hit with this particular spell, so I see AAoL as HBP-compliant through mid-September when he's hit by the spell, and then . . . who knows what may change as a result! *grin* And since RaM and AAoL aren't DH-compliant, anyway, there are all kinds of possibilities open to the new timeline . . . . I hope you'll stick around and check out the sequel!
Enjoying this story very much! But then, I've always liked your writing. However, I think there's an error in this chapter: "There was a beauty to brewing, and a satisfaction to bottling a well-made potion, that could never rival teaching Defence Against the Dark Arts." I think you mean "that could never be rivaled by teaching Defence...." Otherwise what you're saying is that brewing isn't as good as teaching DADA.
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
Yuppers, that's what I meant to write! Serves me right for not letting the chapter sit a few days before posting it! And I did have it read over by someone else first, too. Funny how the mind puts in missing words and letters . . .
Thanks for letting me know you are enjoying the story!
Lovely. A truly excellent story. I look forward to the epilogue. Thank you for writing it.Truly
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
You are very welcome! I'm happy you enjoyed it. Thanks for the reviews!
Words can’t even begin to describe how happy I was to see this story updated. I it so much! LOL
I was very pleased to see that Minerva was given the chance to open up and talk to Poppy about what’s been going on during the past week. I think it’s very important for Minerva, not only to be able to share her experiences, but also to see and hear an outsider expressing and understanding for Minerva’s actions. That was a much needed affirmation for her…almost as much as the reaffirmation of Albus’ love and devotion to her after having had sex with Snape.
Poppy was so cute when she commented to Minerva that she could understand Albus’ insecurity but then went on to say that Minerva could never want another wizard after having Albus. It almost sounded like she was a bit jealous, though I know she has no designs on Albus…whew! And the heart hickies…wheeeeee. I was hoping she’d notice and give Minerva the chance to blush a little. Tee hee.
Mmmm, naptime. That’s my kind of naptime! I love how Albus is so tender and romantic, loving and passionate all at the same time. He’s truly a marvel and Minerva is one lucky witch. The citrus flavoring was PERFECT and gave me just the right start to my day!!! It was absolutely perfect that he reiterated his feelings for Minerva by claiming her once more, without her having to ask him to do so this time. That was a perfect little addition and it shows just how much they've moved forward. And more polyjuice…ohhhhh yeah baby!!! Umm, do we get to see the “use” of the polyjuice???? That would make for a great epilogue…ending on a high note so to speak. LOL
I felt sorry for Snape in this section but I do believe he emerged a changed person from all of this. And I’m glad he knows that Minerva is Albus’ wife. I think it adds a new dimension and while Minerva was shocked that Albus had revealed the truth to Snape, I think it also goes to show just how upset and insecure Albus was initially. It’s one thing to say it to Minerva and have her understand but to see his insecurity played out with a third party (Snape) it had to enlighten Minerva into just how upset and worried Albus was right after the spell was removed.
I think in some ways the spell had a profound effect, not only on Snape, but on Albus and Minerva as well. They were able to heal old wounds and to discuss things that had been brewing currently, getting those out of the way so they could honestly enjoy being together. I mean, who could ever forget naughty witch, wicked wizard??? Not me. That will go down in the history books at the hottest ADMM lemon I have EVER READ!!!!!
In some ways, I’m really looking forward to the epilogue but then again that will mean that this story is over. Sniff sniff. But since you promised a sequel, I won’t despair for too long, though I do plan on harassing you until it’s completed!!! That’s what a GLM is for, right??? TTFN,GLM
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
I'm very glad you enjoyed this chapter! And that you enjoyed the lemony previous chapter so much. (Pity there's no blushie emoticon!)
I'm glad you liked the bit with Poppy. I think she's going to be thinking somewhat differently about Snape now -- let's hope the Hufflepuff can keep up the pretense that she knows nothing!
Yup, I'm not going to begin posting the sequel until it's completed, as I mentioned on my LJ. It's somewhat complicated and I want to be able to go back and revise earlier bits as needed. You may be happy to know, however, that it's about one-third complete right now.
Thanks very much for reviewing!
I was starting to wonder if you were going to continue through the rest of the HBP time frame! I do like the way you've resolved some of Minerva's residual issues and look forward to seeing the epilogue and what you decide to do with the sequel.
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
The events in AAoL have changed things quite a bit from HBP -- one miscast spell on Snape, and we see another timeline emerge! Of course, the sequel isn't DH-compliant because it's an AAoL sequel, which isn't DH-compliant because it's set in the same universe as "Resolving a Misunderstanding," which is most definitely not DH-compliant, since Albus's backstory was all worked out before DH was published. However, I'm going to make use of some elements of DH, and I like to think of the sequel as a kind of DH-twister.
The epilogue is still set in the autumn of year 6 (the HBP year), and the sequel covers years 6 & 7. And I can guarantee you, no camping! If anyone's camping, you won't have to go with them!
Thanks very much for the review!
Response from firefly124 (Reviewer)
Ooh, thanks for the tip. I don't believe I've read RaM, so I'd better do that.
Wowzer! That was HOT! And laugh out loud funny. Albus blushing over those love-bites after all that, hysterical! He is silly and playful, and that's exactly what was needed. As I've said before, their relationship is beautiful, and I'm very happy there is going to be a sequel.
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
Aren't we all full of contradictions? *grin* Thanks very much for the review!
Hot! Hot! Hot! Hot! Oh what a delightfully steamy chapter! Minerva is a baaaaaaaaad girl I especially loved the parts where Albus creates such loving love bites . Great writing piece and I am looking forward to all and any seguels that you'd write. You are definitely one of my absolute favorite MMAD writers!!!
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
Thanks! (I always wish there were a blushie icon! Imagine one inserted here!)
The sequel will be quite different from AAoL & RaM, both, but still ADMM, and Severus will play a very large role (of course, given the time period).
Thank you for taking the time to review. I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter so much! I'll keep writing, though my pace is slowing as RL is becoming more demanding again. Still this is my hobby and my "secret vice," so I won't be giving it up any time soon!
GREAT SMOLDERING CAULDRONS!!! I don't think I've EVER read a steamier lemon than the one I just finished. The way you bring out the playfulness in both Albus and Minerva is just utter brilliance and yet you still manage to keep them in character. The Naughty Witch/Wicked Wizard roleplaying was a breath of fresh air from the way most lemons are written and I thorougly enjoyed it...though not as much as Minerva and Albus surely did. Afterwards, though, Minerva cheesed me off a bit when she objected so strongly to covering the love marks. If it hadn't been their "usual" thing to do whenever he marked her, I might could see her jumping at the mention of doing it now, since she's in a somewhat "insecure" (for lack of a better word) state of mind. But to bring up Severus' voyuerism...well that just hurt Albus...sniff sniff. I'm glad they sorted through it quickly though. I'd have for them to be at odds after Albus arranged to spend so much time with her...alone! His parting gesture was outstanding! I love to see a romantic Albus written well and I must say you do an excellent job. I'm very much looking forward to even more of this story. Might there be more lemony adventures for our frisky couple??? I think after having to endure five days of Snape, they deserve more than a little horizontal time. LOVED IT!!!GLM
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
Glad you found it so steamy! *grin* And I think Minerva was cheesed off at herself, as you put it. She certainly was kind of surprised at herself when she realized what she had said and done. But she did recognize it, fortunately for them both, and Albus was very understanding and, as you point out, he had a nice parting gesture for her to show her that he was trying to understand where she was coming from. So that was quickly over and forgiven! But it does show she's still affected by the time she had to spend with Severus in such close quarters for so many days.
As for more horizontal time . . . we will see! We do need to visit with Severus, after all!
Thank you for the review. I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter so much!
Wow! That, my dear, was in a word, intense. :) I read this story over the weekend and I have to admit, got absolutely none of my reading for school done! But I most definitely enjoyed myself. Oh, by the way, this is LivingPhilosophies from ff.net. I've been doing double takes every time you mention something regarding the beginning of MMAD's relationship...scrounging for clues about when they actually get together and how much longer it will take! Not that I'm not completely enjoying RaM. :) I really enjoyed the last chapter when you made references to Hermione potentially crushing on Severus- I've always thought that was an interesting pairing, given Hermione waits until she's of age! It would be like her to fall for a professor. What will the sequel be about? What pairing will you feature? I really don't want to see Minerva's reaction to Albus's death...that is entirely too sad to be real, especially in this universe where she sleeps with Snape! But I leave it in your more-than-capable hands. Great work!
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
Ah, yes, all those tantalizing little hints about the direction that RaM will take and how it will end! *evil grin* Had to throw those in there. I'm glad you enjoyed the story -- and yeah, that was an intense chapter!
And the sequel . . . let's just say that one miscast spell can change history. And that the sequel will be different from either RaM or AAol. And I think it will be . . . unexpected.
Thank you very much for reading this here and for taking the time to review! Now go do your school reading! *wink*
Not entirely my cuppa, but I really do like what you showed of both their emotions following the resolving of the curse. Nicely done.
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
Thanks! I appreciate that. :D
Very stimulating shall we say. (waving hand in front of face) Well done my dear. I'm glad to hear about the sequel. I do love the way you write. I hope I can read more from you after I get out of the hospital on Friday. (Going in for surgery on Tuesday) Thanks as always for updating.Truly
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
Stimulating, indeed! Thanks for the review!
I hope your surgery goes smoothly. Spent several days in hospital a few years ago following rather extensive and nasty surgery (well, the surgery itself was probably harder on my family, who had thought I'd be out in 4 hours and it took more than 9 -- I was out for the whole thing, obviously!), and I know that such things are really not holidays! So, my best wishes to you!
Glad you enjoyed the chapter! There should be another chapter of RaM up by the time you are out and home! Thanks again!
That was very nice! :-) They deserved that, after what they've been through. Bittersweet too, thinking of the future. Thank you for such marvelous stories!
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
You are very welcome! Thank you for reviewing, too -- I really appreciate it! And I'm glad you liked the chapter. :-)
Nice emotions here. hee hee, is there a Hermoine/Snape pairing in the future? She would be the most open to seeing more than one facet of Snape in that generation. I like is irritation at Albus for not staying with Minerva, and his "handing off" of her. This flows quite well, he's going back to himself, and yet finding a way to settle those softer, uncomfortable emotions, too. Very believable. I look forward to whatever else you may have in mind! :-)
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
There is a little discussion of the Severus - Hermione encounter-thingy in the next chapter (Healing), although neither of them appears in it. You may find it interesting to read!
Glad you find Severus's return believable, and the evolution of his way of handling his emotions and dealing with others.
I'm not quite done with the next chapter yet (not the very next, of course; that's posted -- "Healing"), and I have the epilogue/final chapter outlined, but I already have a bunch of ideas for a sequel sketched out. It would be quite different from AAoL -- and from RaM, too -- but I think it has potential. Of course, I should finish RaM before starting another story, but we'll see. Sometimes it's nice to take a break from RaM and write something different.
Thanks for the review!
Response from stardragon (Reviewer)
Yes, I forgot to mention that in the review, but I did like the bit about Hermoine's crush (and trying to get a mere man to understand it<g>). I understand the creative compulsion to move among stories, and it helps to keep the writing fresh, too. I am quite happy in this particular universe :-D so I do selfishly hope you continue to write in it!
Oh, that was lovely! They are so beautiful together! I am certainly enjoying the overlap between this and RaM, and am amused that after 40 years Albus still needs to be beat about the head regularly.<g> Foolish man indeed! I did some crying and laughing both over this chapter.I found it quite interesting, especially reading the two chapters back to back, how much more complex and powerful Snape's emotions about Albus are. I have liked how you have threaded that through this story, his evaluating is actions and other relationships via the hex, but most especially his friendship with Albus. I was angry along with him that Albus "let is slip" that Minerva was his wife. That was brilliant!
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
Yes, his relationship with Albus is very complex, as you have noted. And the obverse is true, as well -- Albus's relationship with him and his feelings toward him are also complex. We may learn more about that in the sequel -- if I ever finish this and RaM, that is! ;D
Thank you very much for reviewing and for your observations! I really enjoyed reading them.
Wow, that was amazing. I wasn't sure if I would even be able to read about Snape and Minvera having sex, but I'm glad I didn't skim it. She is an amazing woman. Snape is dark and tortured no doubt, but there has to be something else there, if one can ever find it. I think it was quite courageous of him to face Minerva after ripping into her like that. I'd like to think he will find someone after all of this, in an AU.
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
I am a great fan of well-done AU. And who knows what a miscast spell may have done to change the events of HP's 6th year? And then the succeeding one?
I'm glad you didn't skim it, as well, and that you liked it. I hope you like the next couple chapters, too!
Thank you for reviewing!
I just started this chapter, but had to pop on and say--"Shed stop potion?" Ha, ha, so that's what the greasy hair is all about!<g> Makes perfect sense!
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
*giggle* Glad you liked that! Hee! I did try to have some fun with some of the usual SS cliches. ;D
You've succeeded in making me cry for Severus, not something I would have thought possible!
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
I'm happy I was able to create a sympathetic Severus. Thanks for reviewing!
I can't deny this is a very odd story<g>, but is also a really beautiful love story. Albus and Minvera simply could not deal with this if their love and relationship was not so strong. I love they way you write them. And long-term relationships are quite complex and, well, are more open in some ways than when one is young[er]. You have great sensitivity and understanding, it makes your stories and characters quite memorable.
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
I can't deny it's an odd story, either! ;D But I'm glad you are still enjoying it and appreciate the different aspects of it. It was in response to a challenge prompt, and I wanted to do something different with it, perhaps something unexpected. I am glad that the characterisations have appealed to you so much.
Thank you very much for your warm words! It means a lot. I hope you continue to enjoy the story.
Hi, I just started reading this last night. It's marvelous! As I've said before, your characterizaion is stunning. Poor Severus! I didn't think it was possible for me to feel so badly for him. A very intriquing idea, too, I'll be interested to see how things unfold. Albus and Minverva are so tender with one another. He is such a dear, isn't he?! *sigh*Terrific writing, as always!
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
I'm glad you are enjoying it! I'm happy you are able to have some sympathy for poor Severus. :D And yes, Albus is a dear. *grin*
I hope the story continues to entertain you!
Thanks for reviewing!
Hehe... so this story seems to be the future of your other one, not that I ever doubted it... but Yikes! Love it, of course!
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
Thank you! I'm glad you love it!
I love this story and this chapter. Good on Albus for understanding what Min needed and giving it to her. And hopefully the polyjuice potion gave him something he needed too. I suspect it was much more for him than for her. Though the pun in your summary should earn you some sort of minor jinx--"potion lends a hand" indeed! GROAN!
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
Couldn't resist the pun.
I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter! Thanks for the review!
Severus just hates it when the muse forces him to be nice, doesn't he? I love the little tiny SS/HG hints. I am really glad that Albus has decided to spend almost five days with Minerva. We get a few more chapters don't we????? Please please???????????????????
Response from MMADfan (Author of An Act of Love)
There's at least one, possibly two, more chapters and an epilogue to go. I'm working on it. Whether it's one or two chapters will depend on how it seems best to break them out.
I'm glad you like the little hints of SSHG!
Thanks for your review!
