In a radio-interview Hermione Granger talks about one bitter regret. In Italy a man preparing dough for his gnocchi listens by chance.

Reviews for Being Muggle-born
Your chapters are getting shorter and shorter just as I'm wanting more and more. This is frustrating when reading such a good story. Please be kind and give us more soon!

Sorry about that! Dreamy and I discussed ending the chapter here and decided to end it at this place because it is the right place. I am updating soon, promise!

Hmmm! To hex or not to hex, that is the question. Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the wands and hexes of an outraged witch or perchance her tears... (Sorry. I couldn't resist.) ^_~

I have planned far worse than hexing ... But I have given them a happy end in chapter 63. (Joking! Authoress ducks flying objects)

Hey, I'm a big fan of LadyoftheMasque. If you've ever read For Someone Special or In Annulo, you'd know what long stories are like. If I remember, FSS has over 130 chapters! But it's still a beautiful crafted story. 63 chapters are nothing. ^_^
Response from Minerva (Author of Being Muggle-born)
If I had the creativity and the stamina for a novel-lenght story I would write one. The most I came up with was about 50 pages. Nowadays I have to stick to shorter stories or to only posting a story every five years or so, as I like to have them finished before starting to post.

Nice setup. I don't forsee hexing, but I do see tears. I know that I would be bawling my eyes out if it were me. I wouldn't be as controlled as Narcissa - mine would be ugly red, puffy eyes with a shortness of breath between crying jags. I'm just emo that way...
Response from Minerva (Author of Being Muggle-born)
Narcissa will loose her ladylike demeanor in the epilogue, promise.

Ohhh. Interesting. I just hope she does manage to hear him out when the time comes, but if he prefers Elinor to Marianne, wouldn't that make him Edward rather than Colonel Brandon, especially as he's not attached to flannel waistcoats?

Yes, well. I try not to be too harsh with myself - as plot development usually happens before I fall asleep or while commuting, I aim for pleasing images. Just imagine arriving at work in full dungeon-bat-mood. Although some of my co-workers would deserve that ... Thank you!

He is flirting an awful lot more than what is proper for a man that doesn't have a deep interest. I hope he isn't just playing.

Nah, have faith in Severus. I guess he only takes a little while to accept his feelings, I can't see him leading her on. Thank you!

Indeed. I guess this saying comes from tennis (which is a sport I cannot picture Severus playing) but one day I will post my fic where he is coaching an interhouse soccer team at Hogwarts while Hermione is waiting under a tree with cooled pumpkin juice for everyone ... Thank you!

Draco’s expression showed amazement, confusion, worry, anger and pure joy in short order.Oh, yes, I can see that progression of emotions quite clearly!“She’s a Ravenclaw at heart, which makes her bearable for us. And she talks about you a lot.”Hee hee! So she's more than a little fixated on her former professor, is she?!?Please answer me this one: Are we at a point in our friendship that such questions become important?Oh, she is a clever little thing, even after working until 3 in the morning! Now how will he wiggle out of answering that one? How, indeed. It would seem I'm all caught up on your chapter posts and will now have to wait with the rest of the little fangirls for another chapter. ~Sighs and pouts.~

Thank you so much for your reviews, I nearly fell off my chair seeing the lot of them!Draco means that Hermione is talking a lot about Zelko, not about Severus Snape (we know more than her for once ...). The story is fully written and will be posted regularly, so do not worry.

The Malfoys had not told their son the reason for their urgent summons, and Lucius planned to Apparate him to Severus’ cottage upon his arrival in Miramare.
~Squees wildly!~
Severus also watched a YouTube clip of a BBC version of Sense and Sensibility in which Colonel Brandon looked like a fairer-haired and slightly heavier version of himself.
~Giggles uncontrollably.~
Courtship by email, eh? Yep, I think breaking the news about his real identity in person is probably the best idea.
Ah, Draco and Lucius have arrived at last! I can totally see Lucius working on his Apparition until he produced just the perfect elegant popping sound.
Malfoy’s sharp intake of breath did not influence the steadiness of his wand-arm.
No wonder he made such a good Death Eater!
“Enough!” Lucius Malfoy dropped his wand-arm while his wife fought off hysterical giggles.
I'm joining Narcissa in her hysterical giggles.
None from Ms Granger. Well. Severus chose not to examine his feelings of disappointment too closely.
What an emotional day for him! Now what's up with Hermione?
~Scurries off to find out.~
Damn! One little word – cross-continental – and she had picked up on it.
Best to remember he is dealing with an insufferable know-it-all!
She breathed in his scent – the one thing neither charms nor potions could change – and started to tremble. He quickly led her to a nearby bench.
“Severus, is that really you?”
What a lovely reunion!
“Unhand my wife at once!”
Well, it was lovely until Severus forgot Lucius doesn't have the advantage of hearing his voice and smelling his scent that Narcissa had. Oops!
~Scurries onward in hopes Lucius won't hex first and ask questions later.~
This year, he had toyed with the idea of spending the holiday in Vienna, vaguely considering not getting drunk at all.
His therapist should be so proud of him! Moving on at last from perhaps the most difficult part of his past.
My friend was in Gryffindor, just like me, which is notorious for not thinking things through (a trait sometimes confused with courage)
Hee hee! So very true. I must admit to wondering if Albus Severus wouldn't start using his initials instead of being saddled with that name!
To avoid burdening himself with samples and vials, he prepared self-sealing containers in his lab and took a box with him that transported everything he put in it directly to his lab.
Wow! He could probably make a small fortune marketing that.
They were made of wool, black with floral motifs in muted colours. On a whim he bought one.
And does his whim have a name beginning with H?
He could. And he was hooked.
Yes!!!!! I adore letters in stories.

Draco! And he's been missing the Malfoys so. Sounds like things really have changed since he left!
The blinking icon of his e-mails reminded him of an eleven-year-old, jumping up and down in her seat with her hand high up in the air.
Hee hee! She always did have a way of demanding attention.
Two years after his mother's funeral, Sian Prince had written a letter with an enclosed Portkey. She had told him of her plans for the coven – a safe haven for witches and those in need.
Ooooh, what a novel way to save Snape and allow him to disappear without a trace! It's wonderful to see a character actually acknowledging and dealing with the trauma a war like that would have to cause.
The magical surgery left him without a trace of these old injuries, and while his nose was still larger than average, one could call it aquiline now (if one squinted).
~Squints and agrees.~
Love the minor changes that all add up to a quite remarkable new look!
Life went on, and Severus was busy harvesting the last of his herbs when another e-mail from Ms Granger arrived.
Hee hee! Did he really think that would be the end of it? Hermione has probably not had the benefit of intensive therapy to deal with her regrets.
Maybe Severus Snape would have written an e-mail to Ms Granger. Eventually. But without finishing off the bottle of wine while watching St. Laurent‘s tears, he would not have sent it.
Bwahahahahaha! Thank goodness he celebrates St. Laurent's Day. It's wonderful what a bit too much wine can do to a man's judgment! And so it begins...
~Scurries onward to see Hermione's response.~
Ooooooh, what a lovely hook! Now I simply must know more about this gnocchi-making Snape and regretful Hermione. Fortunately I have lots of chapters to read before I catch up on this intriguing work-in-progress!
~Settles in for some quality reading time.~
I love how gently this reads, and how you bring out Severus' insecurity and feelings of vulnerability and yet still goes out of his way to try and help Hermione overcome her own vulnerability (and assuage her guilt). Thank you so much for sharing, this was lovely to read. :)

So glad they didn't shoot first and ask questions later. I hope Hermione e-mails soon so Snape doesn't fret too much.
