Oh Subversa, the tangled web you weave. "The old witches' tales that told of a remedy for the Lethe Elixir were naught but fantasy." Could this mean that there is a way for all of Hermione's memories to come back to her? Did she write them down on that piece of parchment before hiding it in the lining of the book? You told us she doodled, but you did not make it plane what else she might have written. That's what I would have done, write it all down to read about later. Or insist that Severus let me view his memories in a Penseive. Of course he could always refuse her. But writing down everything like waking up from a dream, that would be a good way to go. Now all she needs to do is find the paper! Please forgive me for not writing more reviews. I rarely get to read on my computer any more. I usually only have time to read from my phone, and I can't write reviews on the phone for some reason. But I do love this story.

Severus is policing her, and she knows it - remember how she looked over her shoulder before she hid the clue in the book? He is being stubbornly true to his original promise to her, and he's convinced himself that it would be dishonorable to change plans, even though she's clearly head over heels with him. Thank you for your words, my dear. I appreciate your effort more than I can say!

I've just joined this ride, and am so in awe. I'm intrigued by the connection between the book and the memories she has forgotten. But most of all I'm dreading the moments where everything blows up in her face. Going to Salem (just TELL him, stupid girl!) and remembering. Why do I think that she'll remember their wedding-nights only after she has told him?And I also dread the moments she falls asleep, mainly because of Snape. He feels rejected enough as it is. And couldn't she write herself a letter? About how Snape is actually quite nice?

Oh, yay! I'm so excited you've joined the journey, Clara! Severus is keeping watch over her at the cottage. If she tried to write herself a letter, he would confiscate it. He's being true to the promise he made to her: that she would not remember. He's a stubborn man.And yes, we all know she's playing with fire, but in her youth, she keeps thinking that tomorrow is another day ...Thank you so much for commenting!

I could understand that she was thinking about going to Salam, when she had no memory of being with Severus, but how is she going to feel now after all that's happened.
Response from Subversa (Author of Transcendent Quality of Remembrance)
Inorite?????Sure she could think about going when she thought he was cold and unloving, but knowing what she knows now? I know I would never have the strength to leave him at this point. Thanks for commenting!!

I'm with HBAR -- the present is now a far more comforting place for me than the flashbacks, something I never would have predicted in the earlier chapters. I'm just dreading the flashback! moment when Hermione has to go to sleep, which I know she HAS to do. Of course, there's a corresponding time bomb in the present with the Salem application, so I suppose nothing's a safe haven now. Which makes everything incredibly engrossing. I so want to know what Hermione has concealed in that book!

*grins* It makes me so happy when you take the emotional journey that *I* took when I wrote the story. It pleases me beyond anything! Yes, she has to sleep eventually, doesn't she? And how will he feel?Ah, you hear my ticking timebomb? I'm delighted that you find the story engrossing,

I was hoping that rip was there for a reason! I love how her memories are catching up with her, even if just in dreams. And she can't go to Salem! At least, not with things the way they are...

You're wise to my tricks! And I knowwww! How could she even think of leaving him now, the way things are between them?Thank you for commenting!

Somehow I missed this chapter, which means that I get two at once!
Much as I'm enjoying the flashbacks, I'm dreading the part where she wakes up having forgotten all about their time together. I hope this shower experiment helps jog a few memories...
I wonder what the black stopper on that potion meant? Did it mean it was a Dark potion or that it was irreversible or something else? Either way, poor Severus and Hermione for losing some precious time --even though they seem to be making up for it in the later timeline.
I wonder if they'll figure out a way to regain the lost memory or if they'll just have to make new ones...
Ooooh only halfway?? Awesome!!! And that little tear in the book's endpaper rears it's head! DOUBLE AWESOME!! This was all so sweet and sexy. Just luscious, which I'll admit I've come to expect from you. Thanks for continuing to deliver Lady!!

'But you did that without a wand!' she gasped ... We could skip the shower and have a go at practicing wandless magic, he said ... F-fuck wandless magic!' she insisted ... I feel quite certain I can fuck you without wandless magic,' he stated.Heehee. I loved this exchange. What would he have done if she'd have taken him up on his offer of learning wandless magic instead? *insert bad joke about his ability to make magic with his wand, lol*In the past, every time they snuggle up in bed, or she is in front of the fire or something cozy, I cringe, knowing how easy it would be for her to shut her eyes for just one moment. She is very determined, so it may not happen, but eventually, it will, no matter how much Pepper Up she tries to take.I love that they not only have sex on every surface of the cottage, but that they talk. That he opens up to her a bit, even if it is because he knows she won't remember. I wish they could get to that place in real life. Well, present time, I mean. "Real life" is how I think of it though. It's funny because a half a dozen chapters back, I was desperate to know what happened in the past. Now, I find myself wanting to spend more time in the present. It isn't that we know everything important from the past just yet, but I think I want good things for them in their new life, and I am so nervous about the whole school thing that I just want time to move forward quickly. He'd always wondered about the feasibility of shower sex and had meant to attempt it with her—but it seemed she had ideas of her own.I really expected him to decide something was up when he got in the shower planning for shower sex, and instead, she proceeded to perform just as she did on their honeymoon. But, I suppose since she had his brains in her hands, it must have slipped his mind. Of course, he did consider it a bit, later. And what is up with her book? What one word is so important? And how did she plan to use it? Just so you know, you are killing me here. Oh, and if that is not torture enough, feel free to mention the old wives tales some more without letting on at all what they entail.*throws hands in the air and shakes fists* Curse you, Saturday through Thursday!

I imagine the scene would have played out in an entirely different way if she'd opted for the non-verbal magic instruction. Same general end result though!Ah, you make my heart glad. When writing the story, I felt the passage of time like a ticking time bomb, so you're right where I want you to be.I apologize for the confusion I caused with that poorly written sentence. I have edited it now to read, "he'd always wondered about the feasibility of fucking in the shower". He was curious about standing-up, against-the-wall intercourse.Your thought processes are a joy, my dear. We're getting there, never fear.
Response from HBAR (Reviewer)
I actually wasn't confused by the sentence at all. I understood his intent. I expected it to freak him out a bit, though, that the scene was playing out almost as if she was doing it from memory.

I like how she was worried about whether Severus would be OK with her taking the lead, when she had done so so spectacularly on their wedding night. SUCH a great chapter!

The dreams she'd had of sex with him in the shower were her favourite ones, because she was the aggressor—well, one of the aggressors—and because in the dream, he permitted her to take the lead.•••...and she was being led adamantly to the door and urged through, into the same shower enclosure he conjured each morning on the landing—the one she had never seen before their stay here—the one with the peculiar bench seat built into the wall, which seemed so oddly familiar.
•••He'd always wondered about the feasibility of shower sex and had meant to attempt it with her—but it seemed she had ideas of her own. Ignoring his attempts to distract her from the object of her fascination, she urged him towards the bench seat. He allowed her to impel him to a seated position, watching as she slipped down between his thighs, her questing mouth finding its way to a most welcoming protrusion. He closed his eyes in stupefied surrender with an eerie sense of echoing déjà vu.•••Could Severus have been affected at all by the Lethe Elixir Hermione had drunk on their wedding night? Perhaps there was enough of a taste of it left on her tongue that had been enough to at least interfere with a few of him memories. (Apparently I cannot seem to curb my penchant for reverse-prognostication, either.)•Why did Hermione scratch out the Valentine's heart she had doodled along with their names and the rose vines? •I am dying to know what she thought of when she experienced that classic ah-ha! moment. •What was the one word she left visible on the tiny piece of parchment? Clearly our Hermione IS the cleverest witch of her age. I just know she has figure out some way that will enable her to remember at least some of their wedding night. She had already noticed the tear on the frontispiece in the last chapter, but she didn't attempt to repair it then... so she has no idea that what she is looking for is neatly hidden there. Is it next Friday yet? *sigh* Until then all I can think about is what's going to happen when Severus finds out about her plans... for NEXT month. NEXT MONTH!Beth

Beth, I'm so sorry about the line that confused you about Severus' memory. I have edited it now to read, "he'd always wondered about the feasibility of fucking in the shower". Their honeymoon experience had consisted of oral sex in the shower, and since then, he had wondered about intercourse against the shower wall.My take on Hermione scratching out the Valentine's heart is that it seemed childish and silly. After all, he's twice her age, and although she's completley enamored of him, I imagine she's afraid he would mock such sentimental doodling.Thank you, dear Beth, for putting so much thought into your fanfic enjoyment!

Glad there is still progress between them. So the Transcendent quality of remembrance is a book? Until now it sounded to me like a Bond movie, such as Quantum of solace.
Response from Subversa (Author of Transcendent Quality of Remembrance)
It does sound kind of like a bad Bond movie title, doesn't it?? But yeah, she was reading it in chapter 1. Harry gave it to her for Christmas, because it was something she asked for. *pets Harry for being a good friend*Thank you for commenting!

Oh I somehow totally missed that title in chapter one. But it's indeed nice of Harry to provide her some light reading.

I'm anxiously waiting for the other one to drop. Sometime soon he will hear about her plans and I fear her procrastination will blow into her face.

Hermione does seem to be suffering from major Scarlett O'Hara Syndrome with her "tomorrow is another day - I'll think about it tomorrow" behavior. Thank you for commenting!

Aha! I'd had my suspicions about that little tear in the end-paper--and the fact that she had to keep reminding herself to fix it, but obviously did not do so. I wonder what she's done. I'm worried, though, about her Salem application, because I'm absolutely certain you wouldn't have put off her explanations so often if you didn't mean it to blow up pretty spectacularly in her face. I'm also a bit uncertain about Severus's memory: "he'd always wondered about the feasibility of shower sex and meant to attempt it with her" and yet he clearly remembers that part of his wedding night after the fact. Was he somehow affected by the potion, too? Or something else? By the way, I loved the conversation about my little pony, followed by her riding him. Very nice use of association on your part--and I wonder if Severus picked up on it?

I can't sneak anything past you, AMR. Sorry about the line that confused you about Severus' memory. I have edited it now to read, "he'd always wondered about the feasibility of fucking in the shower". Their honeymoon experience had consisted of oral sex in the shower - His & Hers, as it were - and he had wondered about intercourse against the shower wall.*Thank you* for picking up on the parallel between My Little Pony and Hermione on top! I doubt very seriously if Severus made the intellectual connection. He seems to have had some serious lapses of caution over every little detail during this little bacchanalia.

You are such a tease, forever hinting at these 'old wives tales' but never quite coming out and saying exactly what conditions might have to be met to overcome that dratted potion.Of course, if Severus had any idea just how many women dream about sharing his shower, then he'd know in the same way that those monkeys with typewriters will eventually come up with Shakespeare, then someone was bound to recreate that wedding night at some point.

Hopefully, Hermione hasn't run off or cried herself to sleep... But I'm beginning to feel that they might get somewhere. *crosses fingers*
Ooh, was the door closed with Severus inside or outside? Also, I've been meaning to comment about my curiosity over the references to memory and remembrance throughout your story. I'm wondering if Hermione's memories have been altered somehow?
Oh my, their relationship is a mess, isn't it? I'm interested to see where you go with this.
Your Hermione is very young and vulnerable, not the freakishly mature young lady we see in some fanfic. It makes her feelings rather difficult to muddle through. Well done, you, for being able to write her that way.
Response from Subversa (Author of Transcendent Quality of Remembrance)
*grins* All these years later, I still remember 18 rather vividly. *hugs you* TY for the comment.
Oh yes, definitely some attraction there... ;)
Oh oh, there seems to be trouble in paradise. What a horribly awkward situation for Severus and Hermione! I do think I see glimpses of attraction, however.
