No, it is helpful, thank you.  I apologize if my response came off tersely.  I was trying to be funny, but I think I missed the mark. In all honesty, I did have to go a bit AU and modify the customs to make the story fit (like why they didn't find another male relative when his grandfather died) but what you've described was an oversight on my part.  Thank you for pointing it out, it does help to know the real-world structure.  Sorry again if my previous response came out wrong.  I wouldn't want to discourage people from helping me learn.

Thank you for your review.   Lucius is acting partially out of concern for his friend, but part of it is just ego.  He's feeling weak, and he's trying to flex his muscles.  Lucius is going to get worse before he gets better in this story.Molly doesn't have anything against Severus, but the idea of him and her baby sister is just weird to her.  She just thinks they are both in over their heads and rushing things.  Elizabeth is barely older than Bill, so Molly does tend to mother her a bit too much.

Thank you for your kind review.  Draco carries guilt over what happened during the war.  We won't delve to far into that, but the friendship with Dean is a good way for him to atone and heal.  Severus, being finally free, can consider things that were simply not possible for him before.  He can let someone get close to him now, without fearing that it will endanger their lives.Elizabeth's romantic history is touched upon in Chapter 9.  She is genuinely afraid that he's not really attracted to 'her', but rather to his savior.  That and the Lily thing, combined with her own securities, and she's terribly afraid of eventual rejection.

Yes, Elizabeth may not seem to need any rescuing on the surface, but she's got some issues of her own that this experience (if not Severus directly) are helping her come to terms with.  Draco as the 'little brother' figure is very good for her.

Thanks. Severus is able to reinvent himself a bit in this environment.  And because she isn't weighed down by past experience with him, she's able to appreciate him without the confusion that the others witnessing him undoubtedly feel.

I think your suspicions might be right about one of them.  :)  There are a handful of other key patients.As for why she didn't show up at Shell Cottage, there is a reason, but it didn't make it into the story.  It's yet another reason to dislike Aunt Muriel.  Rather than notifying Molly and Arthur to contact Elizabeth, Bill contacted Muriel instead.  She did not relay the message to Elizabeth in a timely manner.  By the time Elizabeth was informed of the injuries, Fleur and Bill had the situation in hand.

Thanks for your reivew.  Muriel is fairly horrible, and I have not been kind to her in this story.  I actually had more about her but ended up cutting her back because I know people are anxious for Severus to enter the story.  Elizabeth is used to dealing with people who look at her a bit strangely, having grown up as a witch in a Muggle family.  She was loved, but straddling the lines between the two worlds was a challenge and she developed a very interesting type of toughness from the experience.  Elizabeth has many faults of her own, but she does not take responsibility for the faults of others.

Yeah!  My first review.  I'm glad you enjoyed the beginning here.  The next chapter is in the queue.  The story is basically complete, but I am working on giving it a final polish. 

Excited to hear the next chapter is in queue.  And also that the story is complete.  I do read in-progress stories but it's nice to know this one has a conclusion.  Do you have other stories?  Is SS/OC your favorite pairing?

It's okay, Lucius is still a bastard, I promise.  His colors will show.Draco is pretty much broken, and Elizabeth and Severus are helping to rebuild him.  Narcissa doesn't see Elizabeth as equal, but then again she doesn't really see Severus as an equal either, even though she does appreciate his assistance.  She does want what's best for him (assuming it doesn't conflict with her family's needs), and she does legitimately see Elizabeth as good for him.

Thanks for your comment.  Minerva would definitely be struggling with her recent interactions with Severus after his true allegiance was revealed.Teehee, yeah, Elizabeth may pay for that later.As for the blood loss issue, Elizabeth's specialty isn't trauma, which is part of the reason she struggles with turning off her emotional response.  Her specialty is rehab, which will become more relevant down the road.
