Seven years after the final battle: Severus is neither here nor there - and is apparently unwanted, dead or alive, until a small black kitten pins his cloak to a cobblestone. Hermione learns that now and then life rests on the flip of a friendly coin. Does love have the power to cancel time? Only the cats know for sure, and they can't talk.

Enjoyed the punishment, it was bitersweet for her sitting there really faced with the magnitude of the situation.
How is love supposed to be the reason / solution for the float and who exactly is Mimi? Is she Athena? Is that how or why this float is lasting so long and the reason for asking what wisdom is?
Looking forward to seeing what happens next!
Crushyo, indeed!
Even though time is going faster for Hermione, I hope she will not have to live through fifth, sixth and Horcrux-hunting to save Severus.
Poor, Hermione, poor Severus, poor kittehs!
Wonderful chapter, makes me yearn for more!
Such a terrific chapter...the tension of the detention (hee! Severus' explanation of that was perfect), as Hermione remembers his death while Severus grades papers before her. Will he see the knowledge of the future in her eyes? Will Legilimency be the way she can nudge events without actually speaking the words that History won't allow her to? And then the conversation between Mimi and Severus was the perfect counterpoint of humor to balance out the angst:
"WHUT IZ?" That kitten may well grow up to form an advanced understanding of metaphysics, if she's already asking questions like that! "STOOPID WIZDUM" only reinforces it...Plato would be proud to have a familiar like her!
I eagerly await the next chapter...
The worst punishment you can give to someone who is used to doing is to have them do nothing. Something my parents understood full well when I was growing up. ^_^
This was a truly agonizing chapter. Such angst. How could she not cry, sitting there for so long... studying his face, remembering every detail in the Shrieking Shack. Aching for his touch.
I sure hope this story has a happy ending.
A perfect punishment indeed. :)
Words are stunningly inadequate. Still: it is ever the movement of (in?) your stories that entrances me. How else to mark the depth of my love for your writing, but with the common 'more!'.
What have you done? What?? ~~flails madly to next chapter~~
All right, for long enough I adored only the fic. Now I adore YOU, because this fic is just fantastic. Bizarre, completely unlike anything I've read, but fantastic. Hence, adore.
" The limit of x for values unequal to zero as x approaches infinity from both directions simultaneously is equal to the square root of -1 over two cats to the power of the written word. "
Erm...
...wow.
Perhaps I *shouldn't* read fanfiction when I've worked 21 hours in a 36 hour period . . .
. . .
. . .
what?
*shakes head, confused*
Meee?
You would have to throw math at us... Quite the little mess our tiny kitteh has made for Hermione. Hpefully she gets back soon.
As much as this story confuses me sometimes(demetrios mostly) i really love it. It's very funny, and i hope that when it's complete and i read it again start to finish...i'll understand what confuses me now. ;)
I love your explanation of cross-temporal feline communication.
And all the rest as well. How hard it must have been for Hermione to walk beside Cedrick and say nothing, knowing he only has months to live. Much less watching Snape all lthrough detention.
Great story.
You had me until the Descartes. Cute! Really Cute! :p
LOL. Lots of fun. What a mess. Silly kitties.
I just love Demtrios' apparent absent-mindedness, even though it isn't. And I love Mimi. And the charm is made of awesome!
Oh, what have you got in store for poor Hermione now!!
interesting new take on Hermione and Severus' relationship. I stumbled across your story a few days ago and have taken my time catching up.
I love the idea of the librarian choosing to learn/discover forever, and for breakfast ceral to "speak" for the cats!
thanks for all your time and effort
BWAHAHAHAHA SEVERUS MEETS LOLCATS!
*dies laughing*
"CLOKE!"
*cries*
Damnit, not while I'm eating! *wipes tears* Bwahahaha
"title of a lesser-known work by Vladimir Nabokov, who is far more famous for writing some other book which may or may not be tangentially pertinent. "
BWAHAHAHA
I'm quite curious to see where Mimi's float leads. Good chapter. I loved the conversation between Severus and Demetrious.
Ooh, poor Crookshanks, missing his Hermny. I just about howled with the 'buggering Charlemagne' line- they were all bent back then, so who knows? And following Mimi's path... she's going to see what Mimi needs to know... maybe she'll see Mimi as a little castle kitten? I guess we'll find out; it's just as fascinating as ever, and I do wish I could take Demetrios with me into the real world. Are you sure he's not a little bit real?
How interesting. Now what could Mimi possibly want?
Oh wow... Awesome chapter. I never thought she'd end up stuck if someone else tossed the coin. Very sweet interaction with Crookshanks too... NICE!
Hoping his body lays alive some place being taken care of and he can rejoin it :)
