"A Murder of Crows" was my first foray into fan-fiction, and I treasure the lessons I've learned while posting it.
Reviews for A Murder of Crows
The plot continues to thicken. I am beyond curious about what sort of project Hermione was working on at her old job. What could have been so horrible about it? And will Snape figure out what she was onto just by reading her book? Eagerly anticipating the next chapter.

Mmm... excellent questions! I'm glad you're curious, and eager to learn the secrets of Hermione's past. I believe she's slowly learning that mistakes can come back to haunt their makers. Thanks so much for reading, and for leaving a review!

Considering the fact that the German word "Arglist" means "deceitfulness, malicious intent" in English, I am guessing as to what Hermione did there. She would not be the first scientist who could not get rid of the spirits that he/she's cited. I hope that Severus has it in him to help her eventually, because I suspect that she's in for a tough ride.

Excellent review - thank you very much! You are indeed correct about Hermione; she's slowly finding out that mistakes can come back to haunt and some ghosts are impossible to escape from. I think the timing of Severus's arrival could not be better.Again, thank you for the insightful review, and thanks for reading!!

I'm enjoying this story so much. I love the way it's getting more complex--at least, to me--and that I can't figure out what's going on. Who sent the owl? What did the question mark mean? What does Snape know? What is that smiley man, Bertram, up to? I can't wait to find out! (Of course, only in due time.)
Oh, and thank you for using the word 'inexplicable.'

I do believe that Hermione's past, no matter how she tried to destroy it is about to bite her in the bum. Great chapter, full of foreboding yet tempered with a bit of kinder emotions (Neville's crush) and of course the dance that Hermione and Severus are doing.

I am intrigued by Hermione's 'secret', Just what was she doing at Arglist that scares the s*** out of her now? Also wondering what she's going to use an EM for... (is that a scanning or transmission EM?)Good UST and I love the mystery here. Thanks for the update.

Thanks so much for the nice review! Unfortunately, I was forced by Headmistress McGonagall to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement with Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry upon writing this tale. Therefore, I cannot fully disclose the nature of Hermione's use of the electron miscroscope. In other words, I could tell you, but then I'd have to Oblivite you. And considering the volume of coffee I've consumed today, I don't think you'd want that!

This tale is very intriguing and I have many questions, as I am sure many of your readers do. I hope eventually Hermione will come to confide in Severus her fears. I think he perhaps has already travelled her road of self doubt and discovery more than either realize at this juncture.

Thanks so much, Irish!! I'm glad to see readers with questions; I was afraid of killing the plot with the relationship aspect. Your comment on them travelling similar paths is very insightful. I believe Hermione's mistakes and Severus's past hold many parallels, and he could prove to be more helpful to her than she's able to realise right now. But I don't want to give too much away by saying anything more...Thanks so much for reading and for leaving the review!

nice story! There is so much tension it is palpable. Arglist - a well choosen Name - promises some scientific work in the way someone like Braun did: great genius with devastating follow ups and the question about ethics of could and should, german genius working for the US after WWII. Bertram looks suspicious too be it only for taking stories from other people to bath in glory be it for other purpose.I hope Severus makes his steps soon... maybe not a the saviour out of catastrophy but someone real and sicere to back up Hermine when she enters the adventure of dealing with her past out of own determination...pity there is not britpick beta for reviews *ggg* Hugs - please continue

I was wondering if anyone with a knowledge of Deutsch would comment on the name Arglist! :-)I'm glad you commented on 'could versus should', as well - I realise this is only a little piece of fanfic, but I think its an important question for every scientific undertaking and perhaps one that gets overlooked frequently. I think it will make more sense when it is revealed what Hermione actually did, and why she struggles so much with fear now.Thank you so much for your lovely review - I'm so pleased you're reading my story and enjoying it!
Response from oneira (Reviewer)
"anyone with a knowledge of Deutsch " glad to share my aboundant knowledge *ggg* is this your language too, or is as in many criminal stories Deutsch reserved for the villains? Foreign words mostly are carefully elected, I found some french expressions, some yiddishin fanfic, too; sometimes the use of latin is quite amusing for me whereas my latin teacher would turn in his grave were he to read the inventive forms of words and grammar. I love to read in English, the authors I prefer have a good feeeling for musicality in rythm and colours in the use of language as you have as well; entwined with an intriguing plot this fact makes me read on and not abandon the story at the first chapter but stay until the end.

Arglist sounds like a mighty bad sort of place. Bertram seems a little oblivious to the effect talking about the war has on her, perhaps she should enlighten him?

Sorry I haven't reviewed before now (bad Dobby!) I began reading this story yesterday, and I am thoroughly intrigued: by Severus and Hermione's building tension; by Hermione's past with Arglist: with the new, mysterious missive: and also by Bertram, because I am a suspicious sort and do not trust him. Looking forward to more!

I love that they know each other so well. Neville would pass out is Severus started acting nice to him. lol Brightness sometimes leads to blindness. Pollen, yeah right, is that what they call it now a days?! lol It is killing him that there are others who want to spend time with her. Better step up Severus. I love this story.
Response from HogwartsClassof91 (Author of A Murder of Crows)
Awww... thanks so much, Arabella!! I think Severus was lying about the pollen, too, but he swears it was there. Men!

Your welcome :)will you be writing another epic like this?
Response from HogwartsClassof91 (Author of A Murder of Crows)
I'm a firm believer in "never say never," although I cannot foresee it. I've spent the last two years writing a rather epic o-fic, and now I have quite a lot of work in the editing department. It seems I'm incapable of writing a story under 150k words! While that's hardly a crime in fan-fiction, no agent will look at my story if it exceeds 100k ... so, I fear I'll be spending all my time attempting to hack off 1/3 of my new book. :-( I may just need to drabble, though, to save my sanity! Thanks so much for asking,

What, oh what is Severus up to? Despite his flirtatious behavior, I am convinced he's up to something. But perhaps that is just my paranoid nature. I'm completely taken with him, though. If I were Hermione, I'd probably start salivating every time he I found him watching my mouth.I love H's stubbornness. Like a mule. And S is smart enough to use to it to back her into wherever he wants her. So far.
