"A Murder of Crows" was my first foray into fan-fiction, and I treasure the lessons I've learned while posting it.
Reviews for A Murder of Crows
bittersweet but a lovely chapter none the less

Thank you so much! The next has been posted ...
Of course Bertram would want to kill off Severus for good in his books, if he wanted Hermione for himself. (Not like she'd let herself belong to anyone)
Arglist sounds horribly sinister- Looking forward to the tragic exposition, when or if it comes.
I am now quite thoroughly wrung-out with emotion, having gone from the heights of joy over Hermione's and Severus' budding relationship, to amusement at the clever repartee (You have no idea how terrifying it is when you’re pleasant to people.”), to swallowing down the lump in my throat as I finished this chapter. Your talent still has me enthralled, and I cannot wait for more. Lovely---absolutely lovely.

Aww ... You always spoil me with your reviews! I was giddy when you commented on the "You have no idea how terrifying it is when you’re pleasant to people" line ... It's one of my favorites! They are both such fun characters to write. :-)Thank you, my friend, for your lovely review and the pretty stars. The next chapter has been posted ...
This is a wonderful update. I am so glad she has admited she loves him, I hope he loves her too.I love the artwork, truly beautiful.
Response from HogwartsClassof91 (Author of A Murder of Crows)
Thank you so much! Admitting it is the first step, surely. And I cannot imagine he would be open with his feelings until he was entirely sure of hers (just my opinion on his character, of course). So we shall see ...So glad you liked the artwork. I sit in my office and drool over it every day! :-) Thanks for the review and stars. The next chapter has been posted ...
Lovely story so far! The characters are rich, and the suspense keeps me glued to my screen... Also, Emilia Woodhouse!! I'm looking forward to seeing where your gangly little Emma will take us... Thanks for writing!

Wow. Just found this one and couldn't put it down. Er. away. Off. Whatever. Such a fantastic job. You really had me going about Severus's true loyalties, though of course we know what we had hoped would happen - and then it did, in a most delightful manner. I'm utterly and completely in love with this little world you've created. Thanks for this!!
Response from HogwartsClassof91 (Author of A Murder of Crows)
Wow, thank YOU so much for this awesome review! I think my PP notifications went to my spam folder in Sept/Oct, because I didn't see this review when it first came in. Forgive my delay in responding! I'm so glad you liked the story, and that I kept you guessing about Snape's loyalties. Thank you so much for reading!!
I liked her parents, especially her mum. Hermione isn't that transparent, is she? LOLAfter all she's done to be with him, Severus still can't understand WHY she loves him? Oh, the self-loathing...Another great chapter.
Response from HogwartsClassof91 (Author of A Murder of Crows)
I suspect she's only that transparent to her mother, LOL. Or her mother is just that perceptive. :-)Thanks so much for the review. The next chapter has been posted ...
Great chapter! The art by Elly is so beautiful, and I noticed his eyes are closed and hers are open, gazing into the face of the man she loves. I did notice that in every response he made he did not actually say he did not love her or that he could not love her... he sounded like it was more of a case of "I cannot believe that you can love me."
I hope they are very careful as they continue to suss out the information that will prove Malfoy's treachery. And I hope Severus' additional wards about her parents home will protect them from any "attention" Lucius may direct their way... I want them to be around for a long time. After all, there is still an excellent chance that Severus and Hermione will still be making eyes at one another for a long time to come.
Excellent chapter, and a fine story. I look forward to each update!
Beth
Just a brilliant update all around! You conveyed the "flabbergasment" toward the end very well. Though I think my favorite moment of all was the pinky-hook. :)
Response from HogwartsClassof91 (Author of A Murder of Crows)
I love the pinky hook, too! Makes me think of some of the SS/HG icons I've seen on LJ. Thanks so much for the review!
I'm so glad to see this new update (it feels like ages as I so love this story!) I'm reading it at what is 6 am in the UK as I've been unable to sleep due to health problems but I'm feeling fully awake now after such a great chapter!I think that - bit by bit - Severus is slowly melting and now that Hermione has admitted her feelings for him to herself, well who knows ...?!I simply love that artwork - wow! What talent the artist has! I once again await the next update with bated breath! :-)
Response from HogwartsClassof91 (Author of A Murder of Crows)
Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about your health problems. I hope everything will be alright. *HUGS*Thank you for the review. Isn't the artwork amazing?! I have the original framed in my office, and I can absolutely lose myself just staring at it.Again, best wishes for health improvements ... You'll be in my thoughts!

A dramatic chapter and a lovely picture...

Thank you for the review. I adore the artwork ... She's an amazingly talented artist.
Oh my God...what a beautiful picture. And another chapter.....
Response from HogwartsClassof91 (Author of A Murder of Crows)
Isn't it amazing? I totally lose myself whenever I look at that drawing. You can almost FEEL him holding his breath. *Sigh*Thanks so much for the review and stars, m'dear! I'm about to send the next chapter to beta and hope to make future updates at a far more frequent rate.
ooh what a lovely chapter! Is Severus starting to crack slowly?
Can't wait to see what happens next!
Response from HogwartsClassof91 (Author of A Murder of Crows)
Only time will tell! (Time ... and the last nine chapters, which I'm determined to post by the end of the year!)Thank you so much for reading and leaving a lovely review (and shiny stars!). It is greatly appreciated!
Response from Jinxie (Reviewer)
Oooh, nice to know how much longer the story goes! Alas will just have to wait and see!
The artwork is brilliant. I think Severus does love Hermione or is maybe on the way too, but is to scared of being let down like Lily did to him? Loved the chapter.
Response from HogwartsClassof91 (Author of A Murder of Crows)
I think that is quite possible. I also wonder if perhaps he's been even harder on Hermione than he would have normally been inclined, simply because of the way he was let down in the past. If so, that had to have made her declaration all the more shocking.Thank you so much for the lovely review and stars. Isn't Elly's art amazing? She has a gallery at Deviant Art ... If you haven't seen her other HP work, I highly recommend a perusal.
Can't wait for more and wow on the art work
Response from HogwartsClassof91 (Author of A Murder of Crows)
Thank you! I am about to send the next chapter to beta, so it shouldn't be long ...
Great chapter and a really sweet picture! I love it!
whoa...how does the frankenstein remark fit? when will we find out what she was doing at her last job? i'll tune in next time! thanks so much
Response from HogwartsClassof91 (Author of A Murder of Crows)
Ah, well noted on the Dr Frankenstein comment... was Snape just mocking her 'mad scientist in the lab' ways, or does he perhaps know something more??? And what does the fact that Brukowski has gone to work for Arglist mean? Whoever sent the owl obviously wanted Hermione to know about it...Tune in next time, indeed!!! Thanks so much for continuing to read, and for leaving me a review - I always appreciate feedback!

I am really enjoying this so far. I'm very curious as to what Hermione was researching at Arglist. I love your style of writing...very descriptive. It draws the reader in! I look forward to the next chapter.
Response from HogwartsClassof91 (Author of A Murder of Crows)
What a lovely compliment - thank you so very much!! I'm quite pleased you're enjoying it. I'm about to submit the next chapter to the beta's, so an update will post soon. Thanks so much for reading!!

well, amazingly, i'm all caught up and it's not even all that late! first, i love your characterizations of snape and hermione, but particularly snape. spot on, as they say. and i am so intrigued by the mystery aspect - what was hermione researching at arglist? what does snape know about them? and what about that bertram, whom i'm not inclined to trust. and all the wonderful, yummy, ust! just fabulous! oh, and drunken hermione was a scream!
Response from HogwartsClassof91 (Author of A Murder of Crows)
Wow - you're quick!!! Thank you SO much for all the lovely compliments in this review!! It's good to see you're intrigued about Arglist - lots of evil going on there. And I'm glad you liked drunk!Hermione - she was a lot of fun to write!! (And even more fun to research...)
Response from kittylefish (Reviewer)
hmm. in general i hate research, but drunken research might be worth ... researching. : ) i also had meant to mention and forgot, that i really liked the career arc you came up with for hermione. in so many stories, she ends up at hogwarts as a potions apprentice or whatever. i liked how you handled her sudden flair for potions, and then she had her stellar career and came back to hogwarts when she needed some place safe to go back to. i thought the whole thing was very believable.
Response from HogwartsClassof91 (Author of A Murder of Crows)
Yes, the drunken research was FAR more fun than the hangover research. :-) Thanks for mentioning the career arc (you're spoiling me with all this positive feedback!!)... I think the character is so brilliant (at least professionally) that she would have been able to accomplish amazing things career-wise at a very young age. And I think having her flair for Potions come from a deeper understanding of the science of the ingredients and methods (rather than basic intuition) makes sense for her character. Thanks so much for noticing (and commenting on it)!!!

well, i kept seeing this title coming up on the front page, and kept thinking i wanted to read it, so today i finally started it, and i'm so glad i did! from that very first paragraph of the first chapter, which i thought was absolutely stunning, i've been really enjoying it immensely. and, despite reading during frequent breaks from all the chores i was (supposed to be) doing today, i'm only about halfway through what you've done so far! which is good, because there's lots more story to read, but bad, because i'm liable to stay up way too late reading it. anyway, i'm prattling now (like nervous hermione) but just wanted to tell you how much i'm liking it so far. :D
Response from HogwartsClassof91 (Author of A Murder of Crows)
Yay!! I'm so pleased you're enjoying it. Who needs a clean house when there's fan-fiction?!?! (At least, that's the excuse I've been using...) I'm glad you took the plunge and decided to read my story, and I'm even happier that you liked it enough to keep reading. Thanks very much for the lovely review!!!
