I live in Virginia with my husband and 2 children. I make pottery, but, thanks to Harry Potter, I have rediscovered a passion for writing.
Reviews for The Potion Master's Assistant
Wonderful! Poor Severus. He really is trying to do the right thing, yet I couldn't help but enjoy Sienna putting him in his place during the duels. Excellent! I also appreciate how constant Sienna is. By writing her this way, you've allowed the reader to enjoy the true relationship building between the two, rather than disrupting the story with angst-ridden, cliched dramatics. That's one of the things that sets your story apart from others', and why it's so good. Loved it! Please update soon!

. I'm glad that you like the way I write Sienna. I figured at this stage of Snape's life he would need a well grounded person to latch on to and bring out the best in him. But there will be plenty of angst as the story progresses. When Snape is involved, it's unavoidable.
Response from color (Reviewer)
Yeah, I guess the angst is hard to avoid given what's on the horizon. Still, it'll be interesting to see how much Severus allows Sienna to support him through the upcoming trials. The reviewer before me mentioned that you were displaying at an art show. How did that go?
Response from ClayPotter (Author of The Potion Master's Assistant)
The weather was beautiful and the crowds were fun, but sales were down a bit from years past. I guess with this economy that is to be expected. I have another show in 3 weeks, and still another at the end of Sept. Hopefully those will go better.

. On days like these I wish I was a professional writer instead of a potter. I have a show tomorrow and I unloaded my kiln this afternoon. Half of the platters inside were cracked and had to go into the trash can. Don't ask me why. I fired them the way I usually do. Oh well...I'm glad you like this story. I had so much fun writing it. More soon.

I really enjoyed this chapter, especially the first two thirds. Good job.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of The Potion Master's Assistant)
Thanks. It was one of my favorites to write.
Irrespective of Albus's orientation, a Headmaster would not put a student in the situation presented here. OOC.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of The Potion Master's Assistant)
You are right, of course. But it fit with other things that you will find out about later on. The scene also served to show Snape just how cold and cruel he had been to her during that time. Thanks for your objective viewpoint. I need all the constructive criticism I can get.
Good chapter.
Good chapter.
Still cannot imagine Snape saying "please" to his student.
Why would Snape try to sleep when he knew the students were going into a trap?
Good chapter, picked up on the action.
I still feel Snape is too mushy- can't imagine him saying "thank you" to a student.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of The Potion Master's Assistant)
As I have mentioned to some of my other reviewers, this was my first fan fic. I began it before DH was released. I hadn't written anything in decades, and I didn't know Snape as well as I know him now. If I ever have time to re-write this story, I would definitely make him much snarkier and just a touch nastier. But by now, he has already developed feelings for her, and he is still trying to deal with that. Don't worry, he gets much meaner later in the story. I hope you can stomach a little mushiness between now and then. Thanks for reading and reviewing.
Snape doesn't feel as snarky as usual, and his speech pattern and thoughts seem less mature than I expect. I will continue to read...am curious where this goes.
Find a way for Sienna to stay over summer, pretty please?
Response from ClayPotter (Author of The Potion Master's Assistant)
Nope, sorry. Snape keeps very busy over the summer. He wouldn't have time for her anyway. Thanks, as always, for taking the time to review. You are my cheerleader!

Oops, he really needs to learn to watch who he Legilimenses ( is that a word?). :)
Response from ClayPotter (Author of The Potion Master's Assistant)
He had tried it on her before, but this was the first time he saw anything. That'll teach him!And Legilimes wasn't a word until JKR invented it, so your expansion of it is fine with me!Thanks for reading.

Thank you for an unusual story. Not that I dont like SS/HG stories, but it is a fresh breath of air to read something different.I dont know how to explain this, but Babaji is my guru ... for many years. He and his disciple, Gurudev, have been in my life a long time. There is an ashram in Massachusetts called Kripalu, named after Babaji, Swami Kripalunandum.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of The Potion Master's Assistant)
How wonderful that you know of Babaji and he is your guru. I sometimes wondered if people thought I had gone mental with this tale, but you are one of the few who understands. This story just poured out of me. And I actually wrote a different version of the ending, where Snape dies, but Sienna finds his reincartated spirit in Harry's youngest boy, Albus Severus. And the child she bears after his death is Albus Dumbledore's reincarnation, but looks just like Severus. Many of the readers were not satisfied with that ending, so I wrote the one that you just read, but I feel that the first one reflects reality and illustrates that death happens, but the cycle of life keeps going and we get more chances.Thank you for sharing your personal story with me. I have never been to Massachusetts. The ashram in my story was a total figment of my imagination. I have been to Yogaville in central VA, but it wasn't fashioned after that place.I have read extensively about Hinduism and Buddhism, which is how I learned of Babaji. I attended a week long workshop taught by HH the Dalai Lama last summer in PA. I actually got to shake his hand at one point, an experience that I will never forget. But the one person whose teachings I follow the most and feel the most strongly about is a sage named Ramana Maharshi. I read his teachings over and over, and as I progress spiritually I get something different from his teachings each time.I'm glad you enjoyed my story. Thanks so much for taking the time to review.

was a character in Dicken's Tale of 2 Cities. who knitted at the gullitine.l I am a constant and addicted knitter.About 10 years ago I bought at a knitting auction, a lace scarf knitted by an englishwoman, who had made only one other like it. It was for her son to give to the Dalai Lama, when he interviewed him for British tv.So I have a two of a kind scarf, one owned by me and one by the Dalai Lama. It was the best $125.00 i ever spent. It is even listed in my will, given to my granddaughter.Oh, and my license plate on my car is "Jai Guru".
Response from ClayPotter (Author of The Potion Master's Assistant)
How wonderful to have such a unique and special gift! Many people at the seminar had scarves that they asked him to bless (they had a name for such a scarf, but I don't remember what it was), but no one gave him a scarf. He was given many other gifts, though.
I rather like his dream Lily. She is caring and sensible and tells it how it is.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of The Potion Master's Assistant)
I wrote this half of the story before DH came out. To be honest, I didn't much like the Lily I saw in DH. I didn't think she deserved Snape's undying devotion. But my plot had already been set in motion, and I just ran with it.I'm glad you like the dream Lily. She sees into his soul and understands the truth. I wish we all had that ability.
Wahoo! You saved him! Well, Babaji did, but he is your creation so you can take all the credit! :)

Indian legend tells a tale of Babaji and some of his devotees meditating in the Himalayas and a man finds them. He has searched far and wide for the elusive Babaji because he wants to become a devotee. He swears that if Babaji will not allow him to join the group he will throw himself off the nearest cliff and kill himself. Babaji tells the man very frankly that he is not ready for the life of a devotee and to go home. The man begs. Babji remains firm. The man then runs to the nearest cliff and throws himself to his death, just as he said he would.Babaji calmly asks his devotees to go retreve the man's body. They do. He miraculously repairs the man's body and brings him back to life. The man is undertandably confused. Babji revealed that he was only testing the man's sincerity, and that he passed the test, so he can now become a devotee.I figured if Babaji could bring that poor guy back to life after jumping off a cliff, a snake bite victim would be easy... LOL!
Yay! I didn't want Snape to die, but I guess dying and coming back works too. Besides, I like the idea that Snape chose someone over Lily...I really don't like the idea of her character I guess.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of The Potion Master's Assistant)
I liked Lily until I saw the rest of Snape's memories from book 7. After that, I felt that his devotion was misplaced and she didn't deserve him. I guess I read a lot more good into Snape's character than JKR did, since she made it plain from her interviews after book 7 that she didn't think much of Snape.
For a minute, I thought he was going to choose to stay with Lily. So is there going to be a happy ending?
Response from ClayPotter (Author of The Potion Master's Assistant)
You question is very interesting... I wrote this story a couple of years ago. I got half way through it before book 7 was released, up to the point where Sienna comes back to life. I didn't know if Severus would live or die and I didn't even know if I could finish the story. It would depend on how JKR finished hers. When the final book came out I had to get over my shock and disappointment in having to watch my hero die before I could continue with my tale. At first I felt that I should be true to JKR's intention that Snape should die, and the ending I wrote had more to do with getting over his death and finding the child that he became when he reincarnated. So it was sad, but happy in a way.But there was quite an uproar from my fans on a couple of other sites, so I decided that perhaps I could take a different route...You will have to wait until the next chapter to find out what that different route means, exactly, but I will tell you this much, it is happier then my previous ending, especially if you love Snape like I do.
Hi,In the notes for the first chapter you comment that people aren't reading past the first chapter. That was written some time ago and I don't know if that is still an issues, but if it is I think I know why.It is not the writing which is quite interesting and not at all awkward. It is your heroine. People have an emotional attachment to Hermione already and find it difficult to accept another character with Snape.Personally, having read two chapters, I am curious about Sienna and will enjoy getting to know her.
Thanks for the entertainment.

Hi Felioness. Thanks for the vote of confidence. I knew when I began to post this story on this site that it would not be as well received as my other story because it was not a SS/HG pairing. But it was my first fanfic and I wanted to see what sort of comments it brought, even if there were only a few.The people who are following it do seem to like it. I wanted to tell a spiritual story with a little romance on the side. This is about love and relationships on a higher level that transend time and span many lives. I hope it entertains you enough to hold on to the very end.I will be interested in your opinion if you find the desire to leave comments along the way. Thanks and happy reading!CP
i beg your pardon CP and hope this is not offending you. i cannot write a full-length story to convey my views so i hope you don't mind exchanging a dialogue with you with the hope of it being two-way.
Someone may say, "I'm allowed to do anything," but
not everything is helpful. I'm allowed to do anything,
but not everything encourages growth." - the above is from a translation of the Bible that i prefer. i do practise therapy yoga and chi walking. i also agree that vegetables are sweeter and believe in reiki, christian meditation, some tantric practices and that God does not limit His love that surpasses the gender roles of m/f to only Christians.
I respect your following of those gurus you have mentioned and would love to meet them over the dalai lama. i have enquired and sat at the feet of some dadas and nuns, but i think we
all contain a mixture of good and bad, so i turned to a personal r/s w God through an abrahamic and new covenant through the blood of Jesus because the old testament is fulfilled in the new, but the new is made more precious because of the old. my take on the hindu and buddhist faith is that we are all imperfect (except for the human God in Christ, and no other forms of hindu nor buddhist deities was God made incarnate) and that this
world is not the final one, so as spiritual beings, pastors and priests not being perfect, nor are gurus or the dalai lama, we should all seek to know God personally and tangibly and having messages passed on or interpreted by others is but an echo or whisper of the Creator who is really everywhere but also lives in us in the gift of the Holy Spirit.
The things about past lives and reincarnation I believe is usually not from God, but from demons who are real and have powers as well, but only what God has ceded to them. I hope I have not offended you. I really respect you but the semblance of groundedness and clarity shown is not reserved for only gurus but meant for us all and i believe that there are things of this world that are better left unknown not because it isn't there, but because we are to be good stewards of our own plot of land first and serve a higher Spiritual being. Thanks for writing this story, CP.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of The Potion Master's Assistant)
Don't worry, I don't find your review offensive at all. I am glad you got something out of it that can help you to strengthen your beliefs, even if you don't completely agree with mine. I think we all follow the path that suites us best at this time in our lives. As we grow spiritually, we may see things in a different light and decide to take a different path. The many religions and beliefs that are out there attract people at different stages of their spiritual development. No one path has all the answers. No one path is right for everyone. Thanks so much for taking the time to review. I'm glad you liked my story. Your review shows me that you have strong faith and conviction and that you are a beautiful person, and that is a wonderful thing. May peace and joy be with you always.
"Professor Karkaroff, the headmaster of Durmstrang,
was well acquainted with Severus, having been a
Death Eater who turned states evidence after the fall of
Voldemort."
think something is missing here.
it's been a lovely chappie over'll tho'! :))) can't wait to turn da page! 5 stars*!
Response from ClayPotter (Author of The Potion Master's Assistant)
I wrote this story many years ago, and it was my first attempt at creative writing since high school, about twenty years before that. So that story is a little unpolished, especially in the beginning. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I hope you enjoy the rest of the story.
Just found this story and read the whole thing in one day. Really a great tale so far. Can't wait to see where you take them.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of The Potion Master's Assistant)
Wow, that's saying something since it is pretty long. I am making some last minute changes to the next chapter, so please be patient. Thanks for taking the time to review. I appreciate your kind and encouraging words.
I recently finished what you have posted for Secret Recipe and enjoyed it so much that I started this story. I'm not certain about other readers, but I often have a hard time wrapping my mind around a primary ooc character. Maybe that is why readers have not followed through? I however am enjoying it.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of The Potion Master's Assistant)
Hi,
Response from ClayPotter (Author of The Potion Master's Assistant)
, and thanks so much for giving PMA a try. If you read the author's note at the beginning, you know that this was my first try at writing since I reached adulthood. Looking back at it now, I will admit that I had a great deal of room for improvement, but I still really like the plot and message, and I hope you will, too. Thanks so much for reading, and especially for taking the time to review. I hope you will continue to do so, at least every once in a while.
This is getting so interesting. The thoughjt of Lily coming back is amazing, a little girl!!
Response from ClayPotter (Author of The Potion Master's Assistant)
I have often thought of people that I knew who have passed on, and how wonderful it would be to have them back in my life as a child. Who knows, maybe they are here with me and I don't even realize it!
I hope you take this as a a complement, because it is intended as one. Everytime I read this story, I find myself thinking about people I know and how some of the spiritual aspects you describe in your story relate to what I think I "know" about realtionships between people. Anyway, back to the story. I love how Dumbledore doesn't hold the knowledge of Draco's mastery of the Elder Wand to himself. I'm curious, in canon, Dumbledore tells Snape he'll tell him everything, do you think he told him about the wand?
Response from ClayPotter (Author of The Potion Master's Assistant)
I don't think Dumbledore told Sev about the wand in JKR's books, until it was too late for Sev to have the wand. Just as in my story, by the time he found out, it was too late for him to do anything to get it back. Otherwise, he would have kept it somehow, instead of letting Dumbledore be burried with it.What I never understood was why the Elder Wand didn't end up in Draco's hands, as is what usually happens when one wizard disarms another. Their wand files up into the air and lands in their opponent's hand.As for your first comment, I most certainly take it as a compliment. If just one person begins to think more seriously about his or her spirituality as a result of reading my story, I feel it has truly been a worthy endevour. Thanks so much for reading and leaving your comments.
As always, you leave me hanging on the edge of my seat...
Response from ClayPotter (Author of The Potion Master's Assistant)
Since this follows canon, you must know that we are getting close to the end... Sob! Sniff.I do hope the upcoming chapters don't disappoint you.
