this is a lovely story!!! very beliveable thank you
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
Thanks, I'm glad that you like my story :)

nice for Al to be the one to heal Severus' broken heart, it's in the intent, after all.
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
Thank you very much for your comment. Little Al is the reason for Severus to hope. Hurting the boy means reiterating the mistakes Severus did with Lily and that lead to such tragic consequences. Of course, pain is devastating and can be healed only by the one who has been offended. What Lily didn't do, little Albus does. I'm happy I could give Severus a new chance through my story. Thanks again and best regards from Italy.
Another very sweet chapter, really a second chance, but he deserves it!!
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
Yes, I agree. Poor Severus can still do something good at Hogwarts, something more useful than just be hanged on a wall. I'm glad you liked the story. As I'm writing to other reviewers, it was supposed to end here, but perhaps now I will write a sequel. Time will tell ;) Thank you very much and best regards.
How sweet! Very interesting idea, Severus's painting damaged by his feelings. (broken heart?)And since paintings can run from frame to frame within the same building, Albus can still visit Severus where ever they hang Severus's painting. (I can't imagine Severus voluntarily spending a lot of time in the Headmistress's office with the other portaits.)Thanks for sharing this lovely tale with us.
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
Thank you very much for your review. I'm glad you liked my ideas. And I agree with you, Severus would probably prefer to stay out of the office, now that he has discovered the many things he can still do. Perhaps I will write a sequel about this, if new ideas "coagulate" in something good. Thanks again and best regards.
This is such a charming story. I look forward to reading more.
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
Thanks for your comment. The story was supposed to end here, but I have new ideas wandering in my brain and asking to be written. If I can define them in a satisfactory way, then I will add a sequel. ;) Thanks again and best regards.
That was quite sweet.
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
Thank you very much. I'm glad you like it.
Best regards from Italy.
Ah!
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
Chiaretta! Brutta birbacciona! E mi hai pure segnato come autore preferito!!!
Response from Ghost Owl (Reviewer)
Carissima! Sto traslocando ancora!!!!!!! Da giugno cambio casa!Un bacio stella e buonissima giornata!!!
I loved every word of this story. You described Severus' journey so beuatifully. Thank you.
Author's Response: Thank you very very much!I'm glad you liked my story.Sorry for this late reply.
Best regards from Italy :)
How the blazes will he grade essays? O.o(Snape got a raw deal in the books, man...)
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
Thanks for leaving me a message. Well, to have an answer to your question, you should keep reading.I agree with your second sentence. This is why I tried to redress the balance in my own way. Best regards from Italy.
This two sentences left me utterly speechless with their simplicity and stark humanity: "Paint. He was only paint. " AND "Painful considerations emerged and exploded like bubbles in his mind, dripping along the fibres of his canvas and condensing in stinging questions." Your Snape is just breathtakingly complex. I really love this story and am envious of your skill with words! Update soon please!
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
YOU leave me utterly speechless. This is an incredible compliment I receive and it fills me with a lot of joy. Sorry for this sentimental reaction, but I am Italian, and, as every self-respecting Italian, I simply must be highly emotional ;)That's probably why my Snape is so human. He has been breathing our air in my home and he has been infected....;)Seriously, thank you very much for your kind words. To reassure you, I am posting a new chapter each time the previous one comes out on the site. This story is complete and it has 38 chapters. So, you see, we still have a long way to go, and many other things will happen that I hope you will keep enjoying.I hope you understand my explanation. Sorry for my English. As you can see, my skill with words isn't exactly at its best in my answers. Thanks again and best regards from sunny Italy.
So, Minerva worked around Zabini's pettishness and allowed Albus Severus to continue his lessons. Nicely done. I like the interactions between Neville and Severus, too. I've never heard of the story you mention in your footnotes, but I'll look for it. ^_^
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
Thanks. This is only the beginning of many other interactions. But again, I don't want to spoil the surprises. The story I quoted is a nice one-shot that can be found in Ashwinder. Good luck and best regards from Italy.
So, Minerva has provided a loophole. Now Severus needs to make a few decisions. I find it interesting that as a portrait, he feels so very deeply. Maybe this is one of the reasons the former Heads are primarily confined to the Head's office? To protect them until enough generations have passed?I'm hoping that Severus can see his way clear and at least try with James. I think that would mean the world to little Albus.
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
Thank you for your comments and questions. No, the former Heads stay in the Head's office because they act like consultants, given the long time they have spent in the school (my idea, of course, JKR never enlightened us about this). Now, Snape is a very particular portrait, that's why he feels so deeply. There is a reason... but again, you'll have to wait. The story develops a bit slowly in these first chapters, somewhat reflecting Snape's own confused feelings. But I hope you will like what I have imagined for him ;)Thanks again!
Even as a portrait he cannot find the words.
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
Sorry, a bit cryptic... Would you explain? Thanks!
Response from blue artemis (Reviewer)
He wants to talk, to say the right things to Neville and to Albus Severus, but due to his upbringing and his life experiences he cannot find the things to say, and so they are left with the impression that he doesn't want to say the right things. It must be hard, even as a portrait, to live like that.
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
Now I understand, thank you. Yes, you said the right words: "due to his upbringing and his life experiences". His actual anguish is part of the long travel he has enterprised in order to learn to live again. It's not easy, and he will have to face difficult situations... but this time he has friends around him, real friends who will help him... and I can't say anything else, only that these first chapters are just a beginning. Thanks again!
Excellent chapter, but why didn't Albus qualify for the class?
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
You should ask Zabini... ;)Thanks for leaving me a comment.
Poor Minerva. Who is the potions professor? In my head, it's Blaise Zabini. Git.
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
Ah well, you won't expect me to reveal the name, eh?Be patient and wait for the next chapter. I hope it won't take too long, I have posted it today. Or ask for a private message, if you can't resist See you soon, hopefully.
Awwwwwww. Yay! I like this idea, it makes sense.
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
Nice, isn't it? And clever. I'm glad that you liked it.Thanks and best regards.
Oh, ouch. So painful. And dammit, James, do your homework!
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
Hiding the truth is a mistake that many have committed (me included, sigh). It normally leads to disaster. But Severus is learning and this time he has many more hopes than in his previous life.Thank you very much for your comment.
Awww, this is so sweet. I wonder what he'd think of little Lily, though...
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
Hi, just wait and you'll know...Thank you very much and best regards.
Lovely story so far. I'm very much enjoying your characters here. Little Albus is just precious, and Severus is canon with a nice softening that feels natural given the passage of time. I'm curious, do we know the current potions professor? I have an inkling that I know who you are envisioning, I'm wondering if that's going to come out later.
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
Hello, thank you for your kind words. I'm glad that you liked how I have built this story. You will know the unknown professor in the next chapter. I'm not going to spoil you the surprise. Best regards from Italy.
So sweetly sad! I actually cried - I feel for Minerva and I'm also happy for Severus! :)
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
Thank you very much. Minerva is very dear to me as well as Severus, and I like making these two characters interact. And they have a lot to exchange and remember, so be prepared to melt again Best regards from Italy
Brought tears to my eyes. I love it. I feel a bit sorry for Draco, actually. I look forward to more!
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
It's so nice of you to comment every chapter! Thank you very much, and sorry for my terrible English. My answers are obviously not betaed. Just a question: why are you sorry for Draco? He is not the potion professor, if that is the reason
Response from mimmom (Reviewer)
Ohh, I thought he was the potion professor. LOL. I feel sorry for the potion professor whoever he is! DOH. I shouldn't read when I'm so tired. Your English is very good. I'm sure there are people here in the States, native English speakers who do not do as well. It drives me crazy when people who were born here and raised by people who speak English, speak and especially write it so badly!
YAY! This is wonderful! I love that you've managed to be completely DH compliant and still give Severus something happy.
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
I like Severus very much. I was born in his same year, but he is becoming more and more a younger brother to me... This is a story of hope and forgiveness, and leads to a lot of touching moments. You have been warned ;)Thanks again.
Response from mimmom (Reviewer)
I'm all for touching moments. Severus needs some hope. James was a bully and Lily was not great as a best friend. She was a bit shallow and Severus had NOBODY!
oh dear. But this had to come out eventually. Poor Severus. I'm glad Dumbledore is owning his part in what happened to Severus and to the Potters.
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
Hi again! Nothing is worse than keeping truth under a stone, as one of our proverbs reminds. But at least it was useful in its pain, because it helped Severus understand. Thanks and best regards from Italy
Beautiful. Sad and painful but also beautiful and hopeful. I love this.
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
Thank you very, very much. Hope is what I wanted to spread in my story as well as forgiveness and love. Looking forward to know if you like how I developed these concepts.
