So Lily has a frame at Hogwarts now, I don't think her husband will be happy, having her visiting Severus, nor will the younger James.

Hello! Happy to see you again and sorry for the delayed answers, I didn't check the site for a while. So, first of all, thanks for leaving me so many reviews. Then, yes, James sr. is not going to be happy. But the story still has a long way to go...

The professors visit was very well done, now on to see what Lucius has in store.

There is one big difference between the two "incidents", the first involving Severus, James, Sirius and Lupin, the intention was to hurt and humiliate. In the second Severus had no such intention, if James hadn't behaved like a spoiled brat,it would never have happend. I can see that from a child's point of view, it would seem bad at first, But given time to think about it, James should realise he has to take a little responsiblity, for the way things turned out.
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
You are right, but don't forget that Severus had initially hoped in something going wrong, because he wanted to somehow take his revenge. But: at the beginning, his mind was still in the past. After the incident, he realises that what happened so many years before doesn't belong to him anymore. Another step forward to a change. Thank you and sorry for my miserable English.

It's like James has been possessed by Draco Malfoy { "my father will hear of this" }Harry would be ashamed of him, disrespecting the man he named his youngest son after.
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
Well, perhaps James is a bit too conscious of his father's importance. And also, a boy who was obviously used to be always praised can't accept so easily to be scolded...
Response from mick42 (Reviewer)
Just like Draco.

My, aren't you going quickly! I'm glad you seem to enjoy the story so much! The only problem is, I don't know if I'll be able to answer as quickly as you read. I should go out in a few moments...

I love the way you are writing Neville, he is one of my favourite characters, and I'm so glad that Albus Severus, can still have lessons.
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
Neville is one of my favourite characters too ;) In this story, he plays an important role. You will see.

I understand that Severus was head of house, but for the students to know he was a death eater, their parents must have been death eaters too. It was hardly Severus' fault,if the Zabini family chose the wrong side.
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
Well, Zabini blames Severus for not having stopped his Slytherins from following the wrong side. Of course, Severus couldn't speak openly at the time, as he had to play a double role. However, embittered men are always ready to blame everybody for their own wrong choices...

Zabini has a chip on his sholder, so has Severus, maybe they can rid themselves of their burdens, in time.

Wow, aren't you a speedy reader? ;)Thank you very much for your message. I assume you really like the story. But I warn you, it's a long - and initially slow - travel... Looking forward to new messages. Best regards.

The glasses had me fooled, I was thinking Percy Weasley . I'm interested to see how much magic, Severus can still command.
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
I'm glad I surprised you ;) Severus has unsuspected skills in his fibres, but you will have to be patient... can't say anything else.Thank you again for your message. Best regards and best wishes for the holiday season.

I am enjoying this story very much, the relationship between Severus and young Albus,is building nicely. I'm begining to feel sorry for Minerva, she is more than ready to take a step back, and take on a less demanding role, but there doesn't seem to be anyone to take her place.
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
Thank you for leaving me a message. I'm glad you like my story and the relationship between Severus and Albus Severus. "My" Minerva is old and exhausted, yes, but she still has a lot to give. Also, her presence is indispensable to Severus, because she is the link with the past in which he was living in the real world. To be precise, they both need each other. I hope you will like how the story develops, though unfortunately I am forced to update it very slowly. You see, this is a complete story in 38 chapters, but as I am a foreigner, my writing is going under a thorough revision before being posted, and this takes a lot of time. I hope you will be patient ;)Sorry for my imperfect English. Thank you again and best regards from sunny Italy.

Oh dear... Minerva is old and tired. Perhaps even sickly. She could contract the disease as well. I hope Snape can find a cure.
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
I see you are really involved in the story... Thank you very much for leaving me such a concerned comment ;)However, don't worry. As I said to my other kind reviewers, I hope you will like what I have planned for Severus. Wish you a great holiday time! Best regards from sunny Italy.

Now this is an interesting twist, especially combined with the Severus' finite last chapter that reached the real world. If there is someone who can find a cure and make it work, it's him.
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
I see my readers trust Severus to be capable of finding a remedy. That's a good thing. By doing that, you have implicitly admitted that he is more than a normal painting. Now let's see if you like what I planned for him. Thank you very much for your comment.Best wishes of a happy holiday season!
Response from orlando switch (Reviewer)
Well, you have made him into more than a normal painting by enabling him to use a spell that reached the real world. So I am looking forwards to fnd out what you have planned for him. Best wishes too!

It would seem to me this would be a fear of contagion almost as bad as the Black Plague of the Middle Ages. Severus had better come up with something quickly. ^_^

In fact he will... and you will see how that will develop. I sincerely hope you will like what I have planned.Thank you very much for your comment.Wish you a joyful holiday season!

Severus actually helping a student to skive off his lessons? Oh, bravo! Loved Minerva's reaction to Lucius' dying. If you can't mourn for an old enemy, then you certainly can't properly mourn for your friends. And it certainly took Severus long enough to realise his finite incantatum actually worked in the flesh-and-blood world. Good job! Looking forward to the next chapter.

This will probably be an almost incomprehensible answer, as I am rushing to the office (and you probably are sleeping... eh, the joy of living in two different emispheres). However, I wanted to reply immediately, so please excuse my English (but if you survived my other answers, I think you are trained enough).First of all, thanks for being such an affectionate reviewer. I'm glad that you liked this chapter, because, as I told ClayPotter below, this is where the "real" story begins and many surprises should (hopefully) hold your attention in the next chapters. Then, I have particularly appreciated your comments about Minerva. As you like to state, no better reward for an author than making her readers feel an emotion. And this is a very emotional story... but again, I am Italian and therefore I simply must be emotional, according to stereotypes ;) The good thing is that in my case it's true. Now, if you wonder how I got to know about your statement, well, it's because this morning I have returned your courtesy and read a couple of your most recent one-shots (unfortunately, I have very little spare time, otherwise I would spend my life reading). So, I read "I loved you first" and I still have tears in my eyes... I was thinking to leave you a review, but I can't now, so look for it later.Sorry for this rushed mix. Thanks again and best regards from Italy.
Response from MsTree (Reviewer)
Hey, I'm Irish and German mixed. Supposedly emotional and also logical. Spock at his worst. *grin* Emotion is what makes a good writer (or so my English professor once told me.) ^_^

Oh WOW!! How exciting! Snape can still have an impact on the physical world, not just with his words, but with his magic. This must be a first. His indomitable will wins out! Even as paint on canvas.
This story is so poignant. I must admit that I was disappointed with the way it ended with Lily, but she is very short-sighted as a portrait. Snape has more depth as a character, even in portrait form, than most have in life. She doesn’t deserve him anyway.
I can only wonder how this will end. Will he somehow break the spell of binding spirit to canvas and set himself free? And will he rejoin the physical world, or travel to higher dimensions in the spirit world if he succeeds?
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
Thank you for your enthusiastic review! I'm glad you liked the chapter and the new possibilities offered to Snape. I hope you will like also what follows.I think I can tell you that this segment is where the "real" story begins. Till now, it has been only a preparation, so be prepared for new surprises. Still 15 chapters missing to the end, and you will see Lily again... and I won't say anything else. ;)Sorry for my English. Best regards from rainy Italy.

Okay, are you painting yourself into a corner here (pun intended) or do you intend to tie all these loose ends up somehow or another? ^_^
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
Thanks, I appreciated the pun, also because you taught me a new expression. I'm always eager to learn ;) About your request, as I told the kind reviewer before you, you must be patient. Every question will find an answer. And then you'll let me know if you liked it or not.
Response from MsTree (Reviewer)
The expression comes from the old manner of painting or staining a wooden floor. If the painter wasn't careful about watching where he was going, he could end up in a corner with no way out until the paint or stain dried. It's another way of saying you've gotten yourself into an impossible situation. ^_^

So many open strands! Please knot a few together, and soon. Yes, Lili, you botched it!I love how you explore this half-live half-canvas world of paintings. What is in for them, what isn't? JKR wasn't all that consistent there, the fat lady always on the watch, but the headmasters, all intellectuals, mostly asleep.
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
Thanks for your comment. I hope you requested to knot my open strands because you are interested ;) In this case, I must please ask you to be patient, because some answers wil arrive but not immediately. And new strands will be added to the fabric, because life isn't that straight and easy, especially for a portrait who would like to live again. But I hope you will like what I have prepared for him.About your considerations on exploring the world of paintings, I have always been fascinated by the idea of people living inside a frame, perhaps because I have worked in animated cartoons. I have tried to expand JKR's original intuition. You will tell me if I have succeeded or not. Apologies for my horrid English, my answers are not betaed.

*sniffle* *sniff, sniff* Well said, Minerva. ^_^

Interesting witnesses you have there. Sounds like Minerva and Albus were in on it, but is the other Zabini, Harry, or James Sirius? Enquiring minds (mine, at least) want to know. ^_^
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
You don't really expect me to answer, do you? ;)Thank you for leaving me a message.
A portrait of Lily or a photograph? Will it interact with him or just repeatedly wave? Only the next chapter will tell for sure. *grin* I really liked Harry's speech to Snape. It had me almost in tears. ^_^
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
Thank you very much! I hope you will like also what follows ;) However, I can tell you that it is a portrait. See you soon.
ohh boy ewwww omg!!! call 911 did he pass out?? it was nice of harry to talk to him, he better look out albus is gonna get him with paint thinner!!!!
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
Thank you for your message... though I'm not sure I have understood it ;) I'm sorry, but my being Italian sometimes makes it difficult to catch the meaning. Thank you in any case.
Once again you continue to delight. I really enjoyed the professors visit. Looking forward to the update and the conversation with Lucius. Has he changed? Will Harry visit?
Response from Memory (Author of Second Chance)
Once again, thank you for your kind words. Do you really want to have an answer to your questions? In this case, I think I can just say 'yes' and 'yes'. But with some surprises, of course ;)
